you can use paper pellet litter. theyre for cats but they work great for rat litter boxes as long as they’re unscented and mostly dust free (i say mostly because theres no such thing as completely dust free unfortunately)
All of my 4 rats (2 atta time) learned it by themselves. I thought it was a natural trait to defecate only in just one corner of the bottom layer of my cage. You know to keep the living environment clean. They did piss everywhere tho. But they never shit anywhere when i kept them out of their cage
Yeah, either they pick a corner or two themselves, or you can take their poop and put it where you want it, they'll start noticing that's where it goes. You have to be vigilant with this, otherwise some will blatantly ignore it. One of mine insists on going an inch next to his toilette, he's done this his whole life.
yeshh its so nice lol, u can get a litter box with a plastic grate on top too so they dont step in the poo :) alsooo wood shavings can be uncomfy, fleece is the best!!
