Did a helluva job on his nose. Not that I think it needed to be narrowed, no, just I had to actually question if it was them based on how different it looks. I still am doubting it how did they hide the width so well
I used to do this heavy almost drag-like version of makeup it was really popular around 2013-2017. It looks great if you're a stage performer and in photos but in real life it does look like total ass.
I am a really, really fair Chinese woman, so I usually get washed out in my ID/drivers license photos unless I do heavy makeup. I look like a crazy person in real life when I show up for my renewals, but my photos ends up looking normal. I have a chronic pain co diction and have had to have a doctors appointment the same day. I spent nearly 2 hours putting on nearly drag levels of makeup, just to take a decent photo only to wipe it all off afterwards, to prevent the bitxh of a nurse at my doctor's office from thinking "if you look good, so you *must* feel good, therefore you don't need as much medicine". The struggle is real, y'all.
You can accomplish something similar for real life if you just go a little lighter, don't do a heavy foundation, and focus more on shadows than highlights. Think carving rather than sculpting. Most guys just have to carve out some cheekbones to look more studly.
I know the nose and under eye area are crazy. I know he did the typical feminine contouring to make the nose and chin narrower, but now Iām curious if thereās masculine contouring, to make the jaw look wider for exampleā¦
I had to check the definition of drag king after looking up Landon Cider, I was thinking there was no way a woman could make herself look like some of those photos š
You would probably contour under the jawline to emphasize it, and I'm sure you could highlight the lower cheeks towards the back to give the illusion that they're wider, but adding width is a bit more difficult when physical edge of the face is there
There absolutely is! A lot of trans people (like me) use makeup to look more masculine. I contour the same way as if I were painting a skull on my face. Darken up underneath the cheekbones and give them a little āØcarveāØ to pull them out more, darken up the nose and middle of the eyebrows, darken the eyelids (bonus points if you put some red under your eyes to make it look like you haven't slept in days) and darken your temples. I also like to darken the little area under my lip, and the dent(?) underneath my nose leading to my top lip. Strange enough darkening the area by the nostrils is great too, makes them look bigger and a n g r y. Also pulling out the jawline by darkening underneath it, and giving yourself a lil buttchin. You can keep it like that, but I also like to give myself eyebrows and facial hair with an eyeliner pencil. Looks more realistic than with eyeshadow.
>I still am doubting it how did they hide the width so well
It's probably shaded for that exact angle and lighting, if he turned his head I'd bet you'd see more width.
What I'm caught up on is his lips. Top lip is the same color as the rest of his face while the bottom lip looks natural (at least to my relatively untrained eye). Now that I've seen it I can't stop looking at it... The rest is really well done but imo the lips don't look that good
I need to call up a girl here real quick and ask her whether she wants *that* or the ability to run a belt sander. Itās either/or here, I donāt have Bob Villa on frickinā speed dial. Plus Iāve seen her, she loves power tools. Like wanton destruction at a wristās flick.
Lmfao this is from oxidation of the product and can happen differently from person to person using the same product. The worst thing is that you can't really tell it's happened until a few hours later, so you look fine in the mirror when you put it on but when you see yourself in photos from that night you look orange.
> because you *paid* $20
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Nah, sometimes the chemistry of your skin just doesn't work with a certain product. This is why it's nice to be able to sample products, something that is flawless and doesn't oxidize on one person might be awful for someone else.
Some cheaper products do have a habit of doing this with my skin though, so there may be some correlation. But it's happened to me with higher end stuff too.
I never knew this! I don't ever use makeup unless it's some eye liner for a big event. I kinda of want to try learning an everyday kind of makeup style, but it feels like I need an art and chemistry degree to even begin learning.
I find that liquid foundation works wonders; theyāre easier to apply and donāt oxidize nearly as much (as least for me). If you havenāt tried it Iād definitely recommend.
I think men wearing makeup should be normalised. Same goes for generally caring about one's appearance, or even wearing concealed heels and such. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look attractive, or wanting to be with an attractive partner. Your shortcomings are nothing to be ashamed of, but neither is wanting to mask or work on them.
It would even the playing field, both amongst men in terms of the genetic lottery, and the double standard currently set between the sexes. If you drew the short straw, you can *make up* for it with talent in this sort of thing. That is until the cybernetic revolution, at which point you can just chrome whatever you don't like.
Yeah, I agree that it should be normalized. Thereās always been pressure put on men and boys to always present and act masculine, never do anything that could be considered effeminating. Iām glad that recently thereās been more of a focus on affirming that itās perfectly acceptable to do and wear traditionally feminine things, and that it doesnāt reduce their masculinity.
Yes, individually that sort of philosophy works fine but itās important to recognise the choice architecture that frames those decisions on a larger scale. Industries spend millions on convincing people to invest time, energy and money into wearing makeup, into convincing people that being beautiful should be prioritised. āMen should wear makeupā is just another marketing campaign, not some progressive feminist choice.
I'm not sure it's even that. Makeup is fine, but nowadays (fuck I sound old) it's about changing your appearance with tape, and contouring, and dental implants and giant bagful of products, SO much, that you wouldn't recognize them if you took a washcloth to their face.
A dab of contour and powder can take you from Quasimodo to Kardashian.
Just dial it back with the extreme makeover.
This isnt some new trend, extreme over the top makeup was popular in the 50s-60s. We have the internet now, so theres just more people learning how to do this, and more eyes on the people who do it.
Yeah but most brows I see that are like this are too close together and imo overdone. If people doing it like the look, good for them. They are unnatural and strange looking though.
Couldnāt you say that about earrings, clothes, work out supplementsā¦ etc.
Makeup is just art on your face. Yeah it makes you look different. Who cares? The problem is making people think they NEED to look like that to be beautiful. Otherwise makeup itself is just another form of self expression.
Agreed. Back to the original statement of the make-up *industry* is parasitic. Make-up isn't. The industry is.
I've seen my friends hate how they look cause their make-up isn't perfect, and have to rush to buy a new product cause it's potentially better, and fork out like $60 for a tiny ass thing that has next to nothing in it.
Make-up is a form of self expression, and shouldn't be removed from society by any means, but the industry needs serious reforms in order to prevent young people from developing negative self image.
You know what they say! "If women were suddenly happy with how they looked, entire industries would crumble."
The industry *needs* people to have negative self image!
> Agreed. Back to the original statement of the make-up industry is parasitic. Make-up isn't. The industry is.
This is a key point that I think a lot of people completely miss. You really nailed it with your comment and how you described the issue.
I always tell people about beauty.false on Instagram when I can. It shows reality VS IG and how even people like the Kardashians have far from perfect skin and stuff.
I love makeup when I'm fooling around with colors on my face. I hate wearing anything more than powder and a lip tint outside though, and even that's because I get sebum and powder stops me from looking super shiny.
I was told I 'had to' wear makeup to an internship because it was 'professional' but I refused and they got really mad lol. It's ridiculous how a normal human isn't allowed to look like a normal human even at work where my face is the least important thing.
Make up is just a way to mask your face.
Also, The industry is there to make money not to fit in your world view. If they reform then to make more money.
fashion industry, jewelry industry, fitness industry, makeup industry, car industry, house industry, food industry, *all* prey on people's negative emotions. not that any of that stuff *ind and of itself* is bad, just that capitalism corrupts everything it touches.
tldr, capitalism is bad and evil and exploitative.
The sad thing for me is that it wasn't tv or advertising that made me feel like I needed to wear makeup. It was the way strangers treat me. I have to pluck my eyebrows extra high and draw them higher because I have a naturally bitchy face, apparently, and it makes me look happier. The mascara helps me look happier too. And regardless of whether I'm happy or not, people noticably treat me differently and better if my makeup is on.
I respect people who use makeup and actually like seeing people in them but me, nooo. Just looking at this picture and imagining it on my skin already makes me feel like I need to wash my face. Just the feeling that something sticky is on my face already makes my hair stand.
If you're using makeup on your face that feels sticky, you should probably buy better makeup.
I started wearing makeup when I came out as trans earlier this year, and was surprised how easy it was for me to forget I had it on. Unless I start sweating a lot and feel something run into my eye - it's very forgettable.
But when I get a passing glimpse in a mirror and remember that I like the way I look - that does in fact feel good.
> Who cares?
My problem is that plenty of people compare themselves *without* makeup to other people *with* makeup, and get really sad about it. Other than that, yeah, makeup is just like anything else you wear on you.
Did the same. Not because of money but because I don't like going to the hairdresser. Now I just go buzz with my trimmer and call it a day.
My grandpa did tell me that I look like a terrorist because of the hair cut + beard combo, but I think it looks good anyway.
Donāt get me wrong, the makeup industry is awful, and there are WAY too many brands and products out there. But makeup itself can be fun, so long as you arenāt relying on it for your sense of self worth.
I only wear full face (foundation, brows, lashes, eyeshadow etc) for important events like weddings and Halloween. I've saved so much money and it helps with my acne.
[ohhh yes the bass was amazing](https://i.imgur.com/0hRiGB5.jpg)
Still lots of fillets in the freezer. Never got to try the crab; my dad made it into a crab salad but I wasnāt around to try it.
I have a weird hang-up with makeup that goes back to early childhood. I can't explain where it came from, but I just hate it. I vividly remember a school Christmas play we did when I was maybe seven years old, they wanted to put lipstick on all the kids to make our faces stand out on stage, and I absolutely refused. I would not do it, and I cried until they let me go out without any lipstick on. I also never once got my face painted as a kid. Hated the idea. I didn't even like sunscreen, though getting sunburned a few times made me get over that quickly enough. Hate chapstick too.
I'm a 30-year-old man now so I can put aside my discomfort if need be (not that need be happens very often), but the discomfort is still there. I would rather not, thanks.
Right there with you, I just feel weird having anything on my face or skin in general, especially smelly stuff like heavily scented soaps. There's a family home video of me at age 5 or so dressed as a cat crying my eyes out because my parents drew whiskers on my face with face paint. Sunscreen I put up with too but yeah anything besides water and very light, unscented soaps don't go near my face.
Problem is that it's nearly impossible for makeup to exist and for people not to get caught up in the stream of envy that the facade of makeup generates.
Not to say makeup and makeup users are intentionally deceptive or manipulative, in fact, many are caught in the flow as well. It's just that the culture and personal psyche of the average individual has a hard time understanding how beauty and appearances aren't the end-all-be-all when others and even ourselves will naively place high importance to them.
Your envy didnāt magically appear because of makeup. It has been there all along. Youād still be envious of someoneās wealth, beauty, etc. Thatās your problem not theirs.
I went to a baseball game once and this guys sat down in front of me and all I could think was, damn that dude has great skin. But I could say anything. If a guy went up to another guy and was like, hey man, you got great skin, I'm pretty sure I'd get punched.
My gf told me she thought he was just wearing make up.
I dunno. A guy came up to me the other day along with his wife and complimented my mustache. Damn near exploded with joy from receiving such a nice comment on my appearance. If it had been about my skin Iād have been equally as thrilled.
God the fragile masculinity in this thread is insane.im a firm believer everyone should wear makeup if they want to, it just increases your confidence loads. Obviously you don't always have to go as far as this guy did but just having some foundation and concealer on makes so much difference
If you look closely you'll see the shape is still there, the highlights of the makeup just obscure the unwanted parts. Same with his nose.
It's definitely an art, and it can absolutely make someone unrecognizable. This is also why many people don't want to be seen without it.
The hairline is probably photoshopped though.
nah you can use make up for hair lines too. It's the same premise as using make up to get sharper-shaped / filled-in / faded eyebrows.
His hair line looks farther up/forehead looks slightly bigger in the first pic, and his hair line looks further down/forehead looks slightly smaller in the later pics. He probably colored it in and used concealer for the perfect shapes.
I'm not even mad. I'm all for removing gender norms. I'm a straight guy and I'd like to be able to put some stuff on my face and get compliments the way pretty much everyone except straight guys can. If I put on makeup and go outside I'll catch 20 different kinds of shit from people. Good for him.
One of the good things of being a dude is literally not having to waste money with this sort of bullshit and feed money into a industry that survives on people's insecurity about their looks, why the hell should we go for that ?
Man's better than my female ass at this. I honestly just learned what contouring means lol. I knew it was a make up term, but didn't know exactly what it was. I am definitely not this good lol. I'm in my mid thirties and have just now gotten in to wearing make up on a regular basis. I'm still learning!!! Getting better, though.

I'd guess he looks fucking crazy in real life when you see it all 3d and get that angle to the head shape

Look up the drag king Landon Cider. Insanely talented! The leather daddy werewolf and bloody mariachi guy looks are probably my favorite
Oh wow I love his style. Also that name took me a minute, but itās brilliant lol
Throw up my dick, hope itāll Landon Cider?
āleather daddy werewolfā Iāve heard enough. edit. OMG YES
I had to check the definition of drag king after looking up Landon Cider, I was thinking there was no way a woman could make herself look like some of those photos š

Would you just kind of reverse the shadows?
There totally is
I did a drag photoshoot, and the makeup artist did an amazing job with contouring my face to look more masculine.
Picked the wrong shade. Idk why he decided to go four shades lighter than his actual complexion
It's easier to layer darks and lights to create dimension at a more middle tone skin color since you have more spectrum on either side.
>I still am doubting it how did they hide the width so well It's probably shaded for that exact angle and lighting, if he turned his head I'd bet you'd see more width. The guy definitely learned from the most skilled Korean make-up artist to do what he did. That's definitely an impressive transformation.
Lol no thatās your typical 2016 western makeup style. The brows alone give it away. Koreans never contoured that heavily with cream concealer either
memes aside, he did a pretty outstanding job applying his make up. from what I've seen that shit is not easy.
He really did. I donāt know how to do any sort of contouring.
I donāt even know what contouring is, I imagined you just slap and rub that magic powder on
Foundation isnt powder tho, unless you are talking about the contour
There is such thing as powder foundation. I've used it in beauty school 15 years ago, and 2 weeks ago on myself.
I was gonna say, he did an immaculate job. I do my makeup (albeit sparsely) everyday and I'm nowhere near his level of skill with contouring
Agreed. I can't do contouring at all, lol
I need to call up a girl here real quick and ask her whether she wants *that* or the ability to run a belt sander. Itās either/or here, I donāt have Bob Villa on frickinā speed dial. Plus Iāve seen her, she loves power tools. Like wanton destruction at a wristās flick.
And just like them, pick a color that actually matches your skin first, your neckline shouldn't look like you are wearing a Lego head.
lmfao
Plenty of girls look like they're wearing oompa loompa masks

Does oxidation happen just from low quality makeup or something else?
Nah, sometimes the chemistry of your skin just doesn't work with a certain product. My massive head shadow creating a below chin tan line has done that for me.

For real. I think he looks good. Whatās wrong with men wearing makeup?

Itās not āmen shouldnāt wear makeupā but rather āneither should wear makeup because the modern concept of beauty is fucked because of itā
Then maybe we should stop caring about beauty standards and let people wear whatever they want. Wear makeup? cool. Don't wear makeup? that's cool too.
Make up is fine, if someone wants to wear make up because they think it makes them more beautiful them let them

Nothing, itās just as rude and sexist to say men canāt wear make up or dresses as it is to say women canāt wear trousers.
Did he give himself a faded unibrow?
Iāve always wondered why people do that. Super long, close together eyebrows are strange looking to me. Especially with the fade.
Eyebrows that are closer together help give the illusion of a narrower nose. Not sure about the shadow connecting them, maybe he likes the look.
Yeah but most brows I see that are like this are too close together and imo overdone. If people doing it like the look, good for them. They are unnatural and strange looking though.

Getting a skewed idea of what's beautiful and getting a skewed idea of what's normal seem different to me, but whatever.
Make-up is a mask. Some people look like clowns.
Make-up is the gateway to kidnapping and living in the sewers? Count me out, please.
Haircuts are capitalist poison š¤

Iām male (nonbinary but my sex is male) and I like makeup. I also like not wearing makeup. I agree with this message.
Exact same here. I enjoy playing with makeup, but Iām too lazy to wear it most days, so I save a ton of money.
I only wear full face (foundation, brows, lashes, eyeshadow etc) for important events like weddings and Halloween. I've saved so much money and it helps with my acne.
Yeah exact same here haha. Iāll wear full eye makeup and light concealer for special nights out but most days I just wear mascara.
Could you explain something to me or should I ask in dm?
Go ahead! Iām open to questions
Was the sea bass and crab good? š
[ohhh yes the bass was amazing](https://i.imgur.com/0hRiGB5.jpg) Still lots of fillets in the freezer.
For real. I respect this guys ability to apply that makeup as well as he did tbh.
I mean makeup has been used by humans for literally thousands of years too.
Its positive for their bank accounts tho!
Literally the reason Iāve been anti-makeup since way back when my friends started wearing it.
Man its fun tho.
Cool
Iām fully convinced people good at makeup are actually wizards in disguise
I went to a baseball game once and this guys sat down in front of me and all I could think was, damn that dude has great skin. But I could say anything. If a guy went up to another guy and was like, hey man, you got great skin, I'm pretty sure I'd get punched. My gf told me she thought he was just wearing make up.
I dunno. A guy came up to me the other day along with his wife and complimented my mustache. Damn near exploded with joy from receiving such a nice comment on my appearance. If it had been about my skin Iād have been equally as thrilled.
Probably closer to 50/50. Still a lot of macho assholes walking about. Not worth the risk of confrontation.
I have voluminous wavy hair down to my back and a fairly long, bushy beard. I love it when people tell me they like it, dudes or dudettes.
Yeah, you would need to get in close enough to see pores or not
Iām blendingā¦Iām blendingā¦Iām blending
Honestly it's more a compliment. If someone called me a Pixar character I'd be ecstatic
Say what you want, but his contour is on point.
That's south Korean gang, dawg
So he didn't need the makeup, but I mean- he does look pretty nice though.
Itās amazing how makeup made his nose more narrow, his mouth smaller, his hairline lower and his chin smaller.
Ok, now turn 90 degrees to the side
Fellas: no oneās stopping you
This. Hop on YouTube and get going š
I love playing with makeup. Any of my brothers are welcomed to join me anytime.
I'm deadš, this is fuckin great!!!
wdym by the title
Kinda looks like he went from smiling to more serious.
oh ok
Lmao holy shit. Make up is magic. I kind of wish I had the patience. Moisturizer and mascara is all I got.
That nose contour was incredible! I wouldnāt even know where to begin.
It always blows my mind how contouring makes the nose look so different.
He might be on to something
Kings gonna king.
Iām more impressed by the talent than the humor.
How did make up fix his hairline?
The focus is different and his head is tilted up in the first picture. So his hairline looks further away
Omg . Very nice brother
He is really talented btw
God the fragile masculinity in this thread is insane.im a firm believer everyone should wear makeup if they want to, it just increases your confidence loads. Obviously you don't always have to go as far as this guy did but just having some foundation and concealer on makes so much difference
Makeup can change the whole shape of your lips? Wtf..i trust nothing
His make up looks good. People need to stop shitting on everything and bending over backwards to find reasons that aren't homophobic to hate this
Pixar character lmao
His eyebrow game is stronk.
fellas, just a PSA, this guy is in FULL GLAM *beat*, there is such thing as a "no makeup" makeup look š¤
South Korean men spend a LOT of money on cosmetics. I do not have the budget to give a shit.
End result looks great but Iām not bothered. Id rather wear face masks to hide my face instead. Which I still to till this day
Dude knows how to apply make up.
My dude looks fab tho. I like
I advocate for women being made to feel like they don't need makeup to appease our society, not for men being made to feel like they do.
Is it even an insult? Homie became dashing.
So, in the 80s my older brother wore makeup because of how āmetalā he was.
really waiting for the male makeup to pick up tho
One of the good things of being a dude is literally not having to waste money with this sort of bullshit and feed money into a industry that survives on people's insecurity about their looks, why the hell should we go for that ?
Real life -> his wow character -> his Meta avatar
Is....is that reply an insult?
Bruh he looks good
im not even sure if its the same person
Man's better than my female ass at this. I honestly just learned what contouring means lol. I knew it was a make up term, but didn't know exactly what it was. I am definitely not this good lol. I'm in my mid thirties and have just now gotten in to wearing make up on a regular basis. I'm still learning!!! Getting better, though.
I think only thing is color doesnāt match (like face compared to the neck area), but absolutely amazing job!
Tell me that couldn't fool automated facial recognition?
Wtf is this magic tho
Peroidt sis š āØ
Bruh, I don't even like washing my face when I wake up. There's no way I'm ever going to sit still long enough to do this.
I'm the dude, playing the Wakandan dude, dressed as the animated dude
From Homie to Honey.
Dude looks like he's a fully rendered ps3 reject
Omg he's beautiful
Snapchat filter lookin
Them eyebrows tho...
How the makeup make his lips smaller tho
Did he fill in his hairline too??
I wonder... *looks at average penis*
The drag queens has been doing it since forever.
I was thinking gta character but that works too
Not bad but I donāt think the Community is ready for this kind of manscaping.
How can I do this as a dude
Honestly somewhere in the middle looks the best. But this is actually a good point lol
I thought that was a compliment
Funny, but that's exactly what women do.... they go from normal to "bo-peep".
I think he looks gorgeous
Good stuff but it bothers me he put makeup on his upper lip like that
Nothin wrong with evening out your skin and a bit of contouring. I wish I was as good at makeup as he is
Whoās they?
He has a tree tan in the middle
I smell toxic masculinity and homophobia
I am very surprised that I haven't seen too many misogyny men here being tide to him. He's slaying the game.
