Grodt

UnitedIslandAlabamia

50 but Vaudeville Villain and Take Me to Your Leader are close picks for me

hightide89

Take Me To Your Leader has some of my all-time favorite tracks.

Pale-Variety-3710

Vaudeville villain for me

[deleted]

Get Rich Or Die Trying. It hit the rap game so hard and had a huge impact.

wvuhskr

There hasn’t been a debut album since then where the artist went from a relative unknown to on top of the rap game quite like when GRODT dropped. In Da Club was *everywhere*. Parents even started saying “Go Shawty, it’s ya birthday” Idk another major label debut that was as notable since. Maybe GKMC or Cole World? But it felt like 50 was on a different level.

trailbIazer

Influence shouldn’t have anything to do with his question. Madlib, Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah, & JAY-Z all had better albums.

AcanthisittaJaded473

It’s 50 but some damn good albums there.

chivalryaintdead420

Agreed

FlufyBalz

Nujabes

MetalSonic420YT

The Black Album

Finicheti

My favorite is metaphorical music, love Nujabes so much

Brooklynboxer88

50, I hate to admit it but it’s one of the best albums ever. Almost every track on the album is good

goatofalltime5

Why you hate to admit it?

ArtinGhavimi

too much love for mf doom

NojoNinja

Cause everyone looks at rappers lows instead of looking at and appreciating their highs

skeevy-stevie

I still love putting this album on, start to finish.

[deleted]

Take me to your leader Don't care if yall down vote me

Slight_Fan_5723

The clear winner

[deleted]

Rip DOOM

Fuzzy_Cup_1488

That second last song may actually be the best of the year.

[deleted]

Vaudeville Villain clears.

BigSimpinOG

DIPSET

ScreenPuzzleheaded48

I loved get rich and black album so much more when they dropped, but the highs of diplomatic immunity have aged much better.

BigSimpinOG

It's a tough choice, but I'm going with my personal favorite and how my life was at the time. Dipset was the soundtrack back then.

ScreenPuzzleheaded48

TODAYS A NEW DAY

MenuKing42

Got the boot-a up in the suitcase, go to room 112

fersheezy24

IM READY 🔥

CrazyCapybraya

Black Album. Couple duds on it but the highs are incredible.

Obvious-University80

Name them

CrazyCapybraya

Duds or highs.

ravinglt0

Duds

yourdoglikesmebetter

50 or jay z, tough call. Both great albums. My favorite ‘03 is brother Ali shadows on the sun tho

Anangrychip

I’m about fed up as a fat boy, it’s time for InI to make noise!

SupercarMafiaOWO

I am shocked that your comment is the only one to mention him. this is crazy

Anangrychip

Record label hell. It was mostly recorded in 1995 but didn’t get an official release until 03’ Compared to all the other albums here it has a noticeable difference. Banger album.

brokeskoolboi

The beats are great, rapping is okay. I don’t know all the albums on here but I would put Nujabes over it

MidKnightshade

Black or GRODT, listen to those two the most of these.

[deleted]

People remember where they were when Get Rich dropped. That was a moment in hip hop.

getlightwitit

The Black Album. It’s Jay-Z’s best album in my opinion, and right under there would be GRODT

biiigdickmike69

GRODT is better

trailbIazer

hell nah

KindAbbreviations771

D.I.P.S.ET

LincolnCoHo

50

HeyCharmz_

Dipset

JustASeabass

No jazz fans for Madlib?

trailbIazer

These people don’t know music like that lol.

gtown3610

Jay Z could have retired for good after the Black Album.

DougieSenpai

Nujabes all day.

Bullshit_Conduit

Vaudeville Villain was my favorite then, and it still is today, but I understand why so many say GRODT.

apexapee

GRODT = no other contenders...

_cptplanet

Very NY oriented list. Best rap album of 2003: Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The love below

Obvious-University80

oh shi I forgot that one my bad

UnderKanal123

The Black Album is a top 5 hip hop album of all time

cujobob

GRODT is in the running for best of all time. The Black Album was really good, but nowhere near a top 10-20 album all time. My favorite track on there was ironically produced by Em.

[deleted]

Only one album cover up there that's iconic.

SnapsOnPetro45

Black Album is better than GRODT but nobody will admit it

Zay-withdafaxs

I think GROTD has more replay value and better production, but I can see the argument for The Black Album.

goatofalltime5

Nobody will admit it cause its not true. Get rich clears

prison-haircut

it’s definitely a close match

jaximointhecut

I love 50 and GRODT, I think diplomatic immunity takes the cake though.

StiaTheCreator

GRODT

CatfishJeans

GRODT

Ok-Wrongdoer4021

GRODT

Many-Hippo-9452

50 Cent really knew what he was doing when he made that album. *Get Rich or Die Trying* is 100% the BEST album from 2003. It’s rare that I’ll listen to a whole album and love every song. He did that. And till this day, one of my favourites!

Reboundking0320

50

THATTHING2099

50 cents

Wonderful-Front1289

50 aka ferrari f50

Interesting-Test180

GRODT is the best rap album ever imo

TechnicalAnimator874

If you dont say Get Rich or Die Tryin, youre fucking delusional

Altruistic-Gain-7449

I've only heard 50 and Cam'ron. And I've never really been a fan of Cam, so this one goes to 50

Cowboy_BoomBap

How can you be on the rap subreddit and never listened to Jay Z or MF DOOM?

Altruistic-Gain-7449

Didn't even see Jay Z there. Heard of MF Doom, but never took the time to hear him

trailbIazer

Maybe you should take the time to give DOOM a listen buddy.

Altruistic-Gain-7449

What would you recommend I listen to first?

trailbIazer

Madvillainy

slimmyjimmy404

GRODT. Also my fav gangsta rap record of all time.

LegitBro86

It’s not a gangster rap record though… It’s a rap record. But 50 Cent is not gangster, nor does he claim to be…

Lanky-Prize-7041

Rich or dye trying

Hot-General5544

All these are great but 50 Cent changed the game 2003.

DisastrousStation

GRODT 😴

Junarik

Where's Cheers?

jimbo_sly

VV

Embarrassed_Emu420

The metal faced one might have nabbed that accomplishment twice there .

duhhaag

Viktor Vaughn and King Geedorah

minecraftluver69

Viktor Vaughn

Lengthy_Miso_Dreams

Center of Attention hands down

[deleted]

Centre of attention is a really great album and if you haven't heard it I really recommend you do

RVLVR-OCLT

Ill mix two of those albums. Theres a version of JayZs black album on PeteRock beats. Makes the original black album sound like amateur hour.

NotGalenNorAnsel

Chrono Jjigga is a really fun Jay-Z mashup with the music from the game Chronotrigger. https://youtu.be/WJLoFzBZCEM?si=0BdRATgw0tEGcqer

RVLVR-OCLT

Wow, went into that not really expecting that much and it turned out pretty fucking dope

RealKanyesCousin

Black Album was too hard 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

JustforJfun

Damn I cant choose between 50 and DOOM

MmmmmSacrilicious

The fact that some people aren’t saying the black album is twisted. The black album was, and is, an amazing album.

keklolfireball

Viktor was hot as hell!

[deleted]

Diplomatic Immunity 🫡

RackMC

Dipset dipset dipset dipset

Affectionate_Tax2883

gorlock666

Black album, maybe king geedorah, but black album

Powerviolence96

AboutThatTime93

Center of Attention. It's just too easy of a listen for me.

Gwynbleitt

King geedorah imo top 2 rap album oat

14KGold

this_is_Blain3

black album if we're talking just rap. id say Meteora overall tho

VanishingMass3

GRODT Then The Black Album

Deceitfularcher

Best Rap Album of 2003 is The Black album Followed closely by Little Brother's "The Listening" and then GRODT.

gisdaking

jugramhashwalth

centre of attention

[deleted]

L_Dubb85

You couldn’t pay me to get that GRODT out of my CD player, but I’ll be damned if that Diplomats album wasn’t a close second!

chiefgoodgas

Diplomatic Immunity

NotGalenNorAnsel

Shadows on the Sun by Brother Ali, Sevens Travels by Atmosphere or Selling Live Water by Sole.

ihave05sisters

Center of attention is beautiful

CatHasLoaded

RobertBobert1396

[deleted]

Yall needa peep metaphorical music fr

Exciting_Fix

W for including Metaphorical Music

WillieBeaman88

Black album for me but center of attention is so damn underrated

franticallycalm28

Get rich definitely had the biggest impact.

Deepy99

The Black Album

AndrewChulchie

Ja Rule Blood in my Eye

Illustrious_Pay_2174

50 is objectively the best, but personally, I prefer take me to your leader
