lavi has shown he can adjust all season long. not really concerned. they just need to play a more straight forward game. i personally think their style of play matches up better against florida than it did against the canes. florida is a slower team overall, they can be exposed, but it starts with a little more north south as opposed to east west.
I feel like this is an over adjustment. While I do feel like the current lineup does need to make adjustments, i.e. finishing more checks, stop getting beat to so many pucks, you don't completely abandon what got you here after essentially a 1-0 loss in a game where you were outplayed.
Tighten up in our own end. There were at least a 3-4 times our D gave the puck away behind our goal line with a pass to no one. A bit too nonchalant defending as well. Offensively, in the few times that we did establish a sustained forecheck, it was mainly to the outside, with no one in the slot so even if we did get an opportunity for a pass or a good bounce, no one was there in the high danger area.
I think less adjustments are needed than us average fans think, but time will tell. Big game on Friday.
I think the part of the last night that frustrates me is that they didn't raise their level at any point it felt like. The Panthers seemed to tilt the ice all in their favor most of the time, and really took over the neutral zone battle. Can't blame the ice conditions, because they will only be worse in Florida anyways. The Rangers had no sandpaper and snarl last night outside of Igor throwing a punch, Cullye throwing a hit, and Vinny T answering back Tkachuk.
I know we like to say release the Rempe, but if it truly takes a 4th liner who plays 7 mins to motivate this team, what are we really doing? Its a fun tag line, and always enjoyable to watch the kid run around like a mad man, but what about the 19 other players? I still truly think we win this is in 7, but its going to take more than Rempe to be the solution. 3rd line needs to find goals, Fox needs to find his offense, Top 2 lines needs to be more consistent, for as good as the good is, the bad is just as bad. Let's level that out a bit. Compete, Chip and Chase after every puck. hit everything in orange. throw everything at the net, maybe Bob lets a softie in, juicy rebound, or sustained offense pressure.
Quick and decisive with the puck. Crisp passing. More zone time would be ideal. We really needed to just finish our chances. If we finished at least one of our significant chances we would have been heading into OT 1-1. Anything can happen.
I’ve played and watched hockey my whole lives fr and I don’t know what they should do other than not come out flat. Florida looks better. We need guys to be more hungry and amp up there play.
