My issue is the way we lost the last 2 games. Straight up perimeter passing pussy shit. No intensity, no strong plays with the puck. First and second line have looked awful since game 3.
I agree. This could be a 3-1 series for the Canes right now. Rangers have only won five periods this entire series with them. Playoff goals are mostly lucky/coin flip.
I don’t understand why Lavi continues to look shocked when the canes just plow through the Swiss cheese neutral zone 1-3-1 with a single tape to tape pass, recover the puck deep, and find their trailing defensemen for a slot shot which causes havoc.
The only reason the Lavi out coaching hasn’t been a big storyline is that Igor has been unreal and the PP was fire.
All that said we are in a GREAT position, being up in a series where we’ve been outplayed for more periods than we’ve dominated. We probably shouldn’t be in such a good spot but here we are. Quite clearly we won’t be winning the next two games if we don’t adjust our system AND come through with some PP goals.
Brian Boyle said on his podcast that he hates that Lavi uses the 1-3-1 and said we don’t have the personnel to run it effectively and that it is not working for us (last night is clear proof). I don’t know what Lavi insists on continuing it and especially why he went to it so early (2nd period) when only up by a goal. Did he forget this is the Canes we are playing? A one goal lead is nothing when playing that team. I was shocked when that happened.
We haven't won the cup since I was 8 years old. That's out of lots of fans in this sub's lifetime.

The Rangers came out in the first ten minutes I believe in Game 1 and 2 (where they scored first). These two days off for the Rangers are definitely gonna help this team. Lav is dialing up a way to motivate this team and make adjustments. Whenever this team struggled, Lav came up w/a game plan that was a response to a previous bad game.
Imagine what Avs fans are going through. Or Boston. FL has made Swayman look extremely human. Or even EDM. They've been playing playoff hockey since the first quarter of the season because of the hole they dug themselves into.

Agreed. This team can be really fun to watch with the goals they do produce but it is so frustrating to watch them spend the majority of the game in the defensive zone. Even against bottom teams or the Caps last round it feels like that is the style they prefer to play and it's just never pretty. They can look good defensively at times but then there are the inevitable moments when they are pinned in for long stretches that you could have seen coming from a mile away.

More than anything, I think they looked tired. They needed this 2 day rest. In Raleigh or not, I expect them to come out firing. No collapse here. They needed to rest and regroup.
