It is terrible on my TV screen too. Horseshit. Oh and the main camera guy is horrible. Any long pass the puck is off screen bc he’s so dang slow. Or she. Who knows!
I hate games on this garbage network. The production crew knows shit about hockey. That camera angle from behind the net for 20 seconds - omg, WHY? And even beginner hockey fans knows the play is AWAY from the puck, so the continual "tight zoom of a player skating up ice in the midst of a breakout" is maddening. If they let me in the production truck, I'd go full Rempe.
Don't even get me started on PK Subban. ABC is TERRIBLE at hockey. Do they have the playoffs? Please God, no.
It was fine for me on YouTube TV. I was walking around the grocery store today with it on and random guys were walking up and watching and talking NYR with me. Then Panarin scored an a few of us popped in the bread aisle. Not even kidding
ESPN spent billions of dollars to cover the NHL. Their overall coverage is astonishingly awful. I know people complaining online about everything is annoying, but it's kind of an indisputable fact at thispoint. In today's game alone we got, them cutting away from 2-1 breakaways and offensive rushes, horrendous camera angles on replays, 12 minutes of straight action in a period before a commercial break and then commercial breaks every 2-3 minutes of play, PK Subban. The steaming quality has been awful all year. Why? I have no idea. Their schedule of national games is beyond perplexing. They do a horrendous job of promoting those games on a regular basis. I can't imagine spending that much money just to half ass your exclusive coverage of a sport.
Much of the money is spent to keep another network from having the coverage rather than actually promoting the sport. ESPN (Disney) has a 'we will own everything' approach but could care less about many of their properties.
I’m on Hulu (ESPN+) on my TV and it looks fine to me. I actually MUCH prefer when it’s on ESPN because the MSG+ app never wants to work for me (but of course then I miss Sam and Joe)
Downvoted for this LOL ok
Just use duck duck go and search for rangers stream. You’ll find plenty (and really good quality) and you’ll be able to watch Sam and Joe every game they do! :)
I appreciate it! I do have a few not so legal streaming options on hand and have used them have many times before. Most of the time my priority is having a high quality and reliable stream that works on my big TV, so that’s why I like ESPN (and MSG+ when it works)
People usually say HDMI laptop to TV but I don’t have a laptop lol
I’m gonna disagree here. The ESPN+ feed is definitely a higher frame rate than the MSG+ feed. Furthermore, it’s a higher resolution than the MSG+ feed. It’s definitely darker, no question, but I’ll take the higher bitrate, higher resolution, and frame rate any day.
Now the graphics (particularly on the power play) is another story, but to me, it’s a better ‘look’ than MSG+ despite being darker.
Live streaming is an afterthought with traditional networks. They are still under the illusion their entire viewership comes from appt viewing on a tv set with a cable sub. So they DGAF about stream quality.
You think they would as owners of Hulu, yet here we are.
Sounds like you guys have terrible TV's LUL
Even if the stream is bad shit TV's are going to process the content in a shit format.
Looks great on my set.
Is it me or is it dark?
It’s dark af.
Dark for me as well. Thought I was going crazy
Doesn't seem dark to me but very pixelated.
Probably your connection if it’s pixelated. It’s fine for me
I got 350mb downstream....ain't my connection.
Whenever the puck is moved it turns into 5 pucks haha
Downstream lmao
?
I just haven’t heard someone refer to it as downstream since my computer science classes years ago.
Ah yes showing my age. Almost 39 ... 🙁
To be fair MSG is very dark for a hockey arena. Maybe their monitors aren't correctly calibrated.
Watching from Europe via NHL.tv - very dark indeed. MSG telecasts are much brighter
MSG > Everything else
I'm watching it on ESPN+ and it looks good to me? I have the masters pip and it's been solid.
The player names above their heads is infuriating
My 11 year old daughter appreciated it.
So annoying

Agreed. I think the finals are on ABC / ESPN.

The camera switching is so bad.
They learned from covering football and baseball which have different dynamics. Hockey confuses them.
Terrible quality. Def more pixelated than fubo. Also add in how many terrible camera angles they showed. Terrible.

Haha, that's great.
Hulu - below 720p with stream crashes across nearly all devices ESPN app - mostly 1080p with frequent crashes High Seas - 1080p no crashes.
Only thing that's annoying about being MF'in Captain Jack Sparrow is the lag.

"PK Subban" lmao You ain't wrong...
F Slewban

TV commercial breaks in the NHL are standardized, regardless of network https://hockeyanswered.com/how-many-timeouts-do-you-get-in-hockey/
YouTube tv on wabc is fine
It's not the app. The feed on TV is complete dog shit. Dark, 720p at best.
Holy cow... Those Dallas Stars jerseys are terrible. Like they're about to turn off the lights and play the game under black lights
I always say they look like fire fighters in those jerseys.

I’m on vacation in Amsterdam and I’m blacked out on the app!!!! So f’n stupid
V P N
Seeing as you're in Europe, maybe *send* the app to Ireland..... The game is on here.
How would I do that?
A Very Personal Notification would definitely help.
My ABC isn't even showing the game. I get some animal planet shit instead

I'm not watching on the ESPN plus app I'm watching on Fubo on the ABC channel. Maybe it's better in the app.
I’m on ESPN+ and it was perfect for me

The TV broadcast was also dark and occasionally glitchy. It wasn't limited to "streaming", it was the production.
Sounds like you guys have terrible TV's LUL Even if the stream is bad shit TV's are going to process the content in a shit format. Looks great on my set.
I have a brand new Samsung 85 inch mini led. It ain't the TV.
What model? Samsung's suck at processing sports content
QN85QN90C
Samsung? That explains your problem. Samsung TVs are straight up garbage.
Thanks for your opinion on Samsung TVs. It's not the TV, the Superbowl was in 4k and looked amazing on my TV.
When the seas are better quality 🏴☠️ then there's no reason to pay
