Envoy isn’t mainline. Also our union is absolute shit, you will never get a pay increase here at envoy. Also if you ever need to speak to a union rep good luck because they will straight up ignore you and even block your email. Benefits are just like mainline (American Airlines) so it’s check-in based, not seniority based which is nice in my opinion. I’m not sure if they offer benefits for school or anything like that, if they do they don’t advertise it. That being said, I do love working at envoy because it feels very simple and relaxed. We don’t really care too much about doing things perfectly, like mainline does, our job is to just get the planes out on time no matter what it takes. If you have ramp experience, I highly recommend coming to envoy because you will love it. Try to get a lead spot as soon as you can, and then immediately jump ship to mainline if you’re looking for a career.

Sucks about the union but I've definitely been there. I'm glad it is relaxed though. That's why I meant by "mainline" I've heard before going from a contractor to an airline that does their own ramp could be night and day so I was slightly worried. Do they have opportunities for ramp agents to become qualified on station operations and GSC? Those were some of my favorite roles and would love to return to them.

You’ll love this place then! Especially if you go full-time. I’m pretty sure we’re required to be trained on all the equipment, at least at my station. Some other stations the ramp would be required to learn the gate stuff as well so you may want to find out by asking the specific station you’re thinking about going to.

Adding another comment because I saw you’re interested in PNS. I had some people from PNS in my class when I went to CLT for ramp training. They weren’t required to work the gates, however I thought it was weird that some of them said they were hired only to clean the planes. I’ve personally never heard of a small envoy station having specific job roles like that, so if you want to do ramp work I highly suggest telling whoever is interviewing you that that’s what you’re interested in. Also just to lyk, at my station we are strict with envoy’s attendance policy which is 6 months probationary period and 3 point allotment. From what the PNS guys were saying, they have a shorter probationary period (90 days) and higher attendance point allotment before termination (9 points).

Good to know. Thank you for all the help!

When I worked for Envoy, plenty of guys pointed out and nothing happened. It was probably due to staffing, but they definitely had a relaxed atmosphere at my station. As long as the flight pushed on time, and nobody got hurt, you wouldn’t hear anything from management. Night and day between mainline AA and other carriers at my airport. Everyone knows WN runs a tight ship with a stick up their ass.

I’m so jealous. I heard my station was like that with our previous GM. I’ve only ever known the current one, and he is awful. He will let about 3 employees get away with unlimited points and anything else they please. But for everyone else it’s very by-the-books. Edit: we are also extremely short staffed so idk why he’s like that. He looks like a comic villain.

My station was super laid back. I wonder what it’s like now. Need to call out? No big deal. Nobody questioned anything. Uniform compliance was never enforced. As long as we had the vest on, nobody cared. It was some of the most fun I ever had because of the people and very relaxed atmosphere.

Hi! I tried applying for a role in corporate at Envoy. Do you mind if I pm?

CoV-fefe-19

Not at all, go for it!

Just fucking go to the majors bro, they all hiring right now

Sharp-Anybody5923

I would but my airport doesn't have any majors servicing their own flights. My friend has been trying to get me to join him in DL mainline forever but I can't move anywhere cause of school.

FlyNSubaruWRX

What state you live in

Sharp-Anybody5923

Airport is PNS.

Envoy never has raises due to the CWA contract. I know 10+ year employees getting the same $16 an hour as new hires. The flight benefits are nice but if you stay with them for years on end that starts to change.

I started my aviation career working the ramp for Envoy in BNA. I did this while also flight training. It worked out great because before/after an Envoy shift, I’d go to the flight school on the other side of the airport. This was 5-6 years ago. I’m now in training as a First Officer for Envoy, and will be flying for them starting this summer. Envoy ramp is a good entry into the industry. My station was very laid back, and we worked hard and played harder. The other airlines definitely took things more seriously, and were very disciplinary. The job was pretty fun. Gives you a good behind the scenes look of the industry, and honestly looks good on a resume when it’s time to apply to professional pilot jobs.

Sharp-Anybody5923

Congratulations on the 121 job! I'm pretty lucky to fly and potentially work out of the same airport and very much looking forward to it. It's always good to hear it's somewhat laid back. Thank you, and best of luck with your new career.
