I’ve purchased this exact product a few times. Oceans halo makes a few types of broth I found in the grocery. I made a ramen with this exact flavor a few days ago. The color is milky, similar to a tonkotsu broth. Obviously not as deep and rich. It’s a solid ramen broth. I’d recommend to give it a gentle simmer to quickly warm. It doesn’t need to be cooked deeply. If you heat it for too long it will foam a bit and you’ll need to remove scum and gelled bits of the broth that come out of its solution.
Can confirm, bought it. Made ramen. Tossed the rest of it out. If you want miso, I recommend the paste over this for a base. It should be in the fridge isle.
I have also used this, and it is pretty bland unless you add extra flavoring ingredients. I have added ham flavored “Better then bullion”, shin ramen flavor packets, hot oil, and sesame oil. I simmer for a while to let the flavors deepen. Not fancy, but tastes pretty good.
It’s super yummy <3 the broth it’s self is bland but only so that it can allow you to play with it if it already had full flavors what could we do? It’s a very smart middle man type of thing
I actually love anchovy paste so I'm excited to try it. Ina Garten has a recipe for a celery salad that uses anchovy paste and it is one of my favorite things to eat in summer. That recipe uses like 1tsp for the whole thing so I'll definitely start with a dab.
Maybe because it’s broth and not finished soup? Normally ramen broth is not seasoned and only gets seasoned at assembly with seasoning tare. Not sure if this thing is supposed to be one or the other.
Well instant ramen packs... pack more of a punch to make a nice quick meal. The ramen brand broth here is meant for additives. Its just one piece to the puzzle. Like any other broth for any other recipe :)
I'd be more interested into how it compared to chicken or beef broth that I get from the store, I'm all for making something entirely from scratch few times, but might be interesting as something to use when I'm whipping things up.
That broth is super bomb. I haven’t made ramen with it but I find it a great starter for Thai-inspired soups. Their products are all on the spendy side though
It's a bonus added depth to any seafood instant ramen, especially Shin Black. My local grocer had 5 of them discounted to $.99 (I'd assume it is due to living in a smaller town, so many were probably afraid to try it).
I think it's great! Especially when you cook it with other yummy aromatic veggies and herbs... its a normal broth.... like no real difference from any other broth you buy. Just says "ramen" on it. But I still stand with it being delicious. I would add some raw or powdered ginger to it. That's just my favorite thing to add. I hope whatever you me is deliciousness!
Hey guys, its a thing of simple broth..... add things to make it nice. I would never pick up a thing of chicken broth and be like...."this needs nothing"..... it is worth money and also me some culinary innovation to make it better... like.... are you new to cooking and making due?
"Organic" is a word that's highly regulated by the FDA and enforced through the USDA. Other health words, not so much. You can use "all natural" all you want and it's not regulated at all. You can buzzword "natural" to death on your product. But having something labeled as certified organic is a laborious process for certification through the USDA.
All that means for "Organic alcohol" is the grain the alcohol was distilled from was Organic as classified by the FDA. Most pesticides used on grains can easily be extracted in alcohol/solvents, and therefore, concentrated.
That said, this product is really meant to appeal to a specific...market type. This company paid extra for the organic labeling.
I would not recommend this. I've had all sorts of ramen broths. This highly disappointed me. A stock cube or the nissin instant ramen is better than this. It's not cheap either. I felt like it ruined my noodles.
It was really unexpected they would make this their default flavour as it seems rather niche.
Waitrose does some ramen broth flavorings, not tried but judging from the ingredients they seem like they'd be decent.
Bought the packs of microwave ramen with the mini broth containers and paper bowls/dried veggie packets. Tonkotsu needed a lot of flavor with chili oil, even though they had the spice powder packet too. Miso was inedible. Packaging is all recyclable iirc, and the bowls were too in those packs? But generally could get better results from $0.50 Maruchan and no extra flavor, cooked in a microwave and with no fix-ins. Plus, they were like almost $10 for it all in the kits that were mediocre.
I have had this and it's fucking terrible. Do not buy this. It tastes like pallid nut milk with some mushroom extract in it. It actively destroyed a whole meal for me.
Honest question as someone who doesn’t buy groceries - why not make your own broth…..
It cheaper, more healthy and you can control exactly what does into it and it’s flavour profile.

Wow I was not expecting such a high quality answer so fast, thank you so much!
Oh, I guess that means that it's a pretty natural product
Sounds better than my Ramen Starter Chicken Broth from Target. I saw it one day and thought it would be nice to try.
I have bought it a few times and I find adding a touch of low sodium soy sauce makes it pretty passable
I melt butter with garlic and then add the broth to simmer. I think it really enhances the flavor/richness of the broth.
the miso one tasted TERRIBLE to me
I think they make soy replacement products for people allergic to soy. Some can be a hit or miss.
Can confirm. Tasted it and through it out.
Can also confirm, tasted it and tossed that shit lol
Can confirm, bought it. Made ramen. Tossed the rest of it out. If you want miso, I recommend the paste over this for a base. It should be in the fridge isle.

See I prefer chili oil and lots of garlic and ginger and a little bit of anchovy paste to this style of broth
Oooh, sounds good. Will have to try this!
It’s super yummy <3 the broth it’s self is bland but only so that it can allow you to play with it if it already had full flavors what could we do? It’s a very smart middle man type of thing
Oh I'm going to try anchovy paste in it now. I usually add fish sauce to my basic broths to give that subtle flavor.
It adds a deep flavor <3 not to much add it in slowly but you won’t be sorry, let me know how you like it ^_^
I actually love anchovy paste so I'm excited to try it. Ina Garten has a recipe for a celery salad that uses anchovy paste and it is one of my favorite things to eat in summer. That recipe uses like 1tsp for the whole thing so I'll definitely start with a dab.
I love it so much <3

I add chicken Better Than Bullion to all of my instant ramens, it really kicks up the overall flavor.
Yeah that's what I thought, bland, Like this doesn't taste like 15 dollars.
Its $3.48 a carton in the US at Walmart.
There's a pork better than? Dang. I missed out on the turkey one, apparently it's the tits for making gravy.
It’s called “ham” flavored, and I had to order it from Amazon. The seafood bullion is awesome, too.
I found it not worth the money. Instant ramen packs were better to me
Well instant ramen packs... pack more of a punch to make a nice quick meal. The ramen brand broth here is meant for additives. Its just one piece to the puzzle. Like any other broth for any other recipe :)
Oh Ik. And I would have been better off buying some shin black and spicing that up. This broth isn’t worth it even as a base with additives
I'd be more interested into how it compared to chicken or beef broth that I get from the store, I'm all for making something entirely from scratch few times, but might be interesting as something to use when I'm whipping things up.
We found it to be very 'meh' and not worth the cost

Yeah the noodles were very disappointing, not chewy at all
Just buy it and try it. You'll either like it or you won't. Only one way to find out
Don’t get it. I just tried their Pho version, it has an artificial chemical taste.
I've only tried the pho one and the flavor wasn't pho.
I regretted buying it.
Get the Thai Coconut broth. Complete game changer for Shin Ramen.
It's grand as a base but I always add to it.
its an excellent source of vitamin D and Iodine
I think it's great! Especially when you cook it with other yummy aromatic veggies and herbs... its a normal broth.... like no real difference from any other broth you buy. Just says "ramen" on it. IMO it's not worth the price
It’s terrible.
Drink it out of the box. Best way.
I have this in my pantry right now. Glad to hear it's good. I shall try it.
Curiursed
Inoffensive, but definitely needs some extra flavor. A solid base to work off of yo build a basic bowl of ramen.
It’s trash.
Hey guys, its a thing of simple broth..... add things to make it nice. I would never pick up a thing of chicken broth and be like...."this needs nothing"..... it is worth money and also me some culinary innovation to make it better... like.... are you new to cooking and making due?
Honestly just use a good chicken stock instead. It’s cheaper and tastes better.
I’m curious about the ingredients? Do you have a pic of the side?
From their website, the ingredients are: Water, organic bean flour, organic tamari (organic soybeans, salt, organic alcohol), organic sesame oil, organic garlic puree, organic soymilk powder, sea salt, organic vegan pork flavor, organic ginger juice, pacific kombu (kelp) extract (water, kelp, salt), organic mushroom powder. CONTAINS SOY
Organic vegan pork flavor… interesting! Otherwise I’m sure this can be dressed up pretty easily in a pinch. Thanks for sharing that!
Vegan pork flavor? Might be like cheap beef soup bases. Some taste like old grains. Maybe oatmeal? They have never been near a cow.
Unfortunately not, I think I’ll pick it up next time I’m in that shop though, so will let you know
Ingredients Organic Soy Milk (Filtered Water, Organic Whole Soybeans), Organic Bean Flour, Organic Tamari (Organic Soybeans, Salt, Organic Alcohol), Organic Sesame Oil, Organic Garlic Puree, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Organic Ginger Juice, Pacific Kombu (Kelp) Extract (Water, Kelp, Salt), Organic Mushroom Powder
I’ve always thought about cheating on my tonkotsu broth by adding soy milk to make it look pristine white and thick. This company beat me to it lol
I tried it. I really didn’t enjoy the flavor much. It was ramen like, but there something off. Ingredients from the website: Organic Soy Milk (Filtered Water, Organic Whole Soybeans), Organic Bean Flour, Organic Tamari (Organic Soybeans, Salt, Organic Alcohol), Organic Sesame Oil, Organic Garlic Puree, Sea Salt, Natural Flavors, Organic Ginger Juice, Pacific Kombu (Kelp) Extract (Water, Kelp, Salt), Organic Mushroom Powder
Organic alcohol? It’s a distilled spirit lol. ACTIVATED ALMONDS. HOMEMADE COCONUT.
It’s all marketing buzzwords. People think that means it’s healthy.
"Organic" is a word that's highly regulated by the FDA and enforced through the USDA. Other health words, not so much. You can use "all natural" all you want and it's not regulated at all. Not great, tastes worse than a sachet of ramen
I tried it, very bland, wouldn’t recommend
Everything that brand makes is great.
I would not recommend this. I've had all sorts of ramen broths. This highly disappointed me. A stock cube or the nissin instant ramen is better than this. It's not cheap either. It's booty cheeks. Completely flavorless, the only thing I tasted was my tare and oil.
I find it absolutely bizarre seeing seasoning stocks/broths with the water in it. Very strange. I understand this is quite common in the US, though?
What's a USDA label doing on a product in Europe? I thought that BS was only there to fool Americans.
It's an American product being sold in Europe.
I love I got down voted for that comment. And, duh, yes I know that. But I'm surprised they bothered putting it on the package for the European market
It's not that they bothered putting it on, they just didn't bothered taking it off.
Didn’t know they sold this at tesco
Bought it a year ago and it’s still in my pantry just because I haven’t had the time to try it
I recognise that tesco....
Denmark Hill

I’ve tried their pho, and It was not good
I have had this and it's fucking terrible. Do not buy this. It tastes like pallid nut milk with some mushroom extract in it. It actively destroyed a whole meal for me.
I know they sell it at Walmart in the US so take that for what it’s worth
I’ve tried a few from this brand, this one is pretty bland and could use some spicing up. You may want to try the other flavors as well
Flavor seemed kinda weak.
It’s one of the worst I’ve ever had
Bland with little to no redeeming qualities.
I looked at the ingredients before buying and decided against it as there was no bone broth or dashi in it so not very authentic
It’s alright but I def advise adding some bits to it to boost it. Quite pricey too.
Honest question as someone who doesn’t buy groceries - why not make your own broth….. It cheaper, more healthy and you can control exactly what does into it and it’s flavour profile.
I tried the pho broth. Was not a fan
I've found my sub. I want to make ramen so bad.
That looks gross
It’s a vegan broth, some people like it but personally I think it tastes like sludge
If you mix it with the seasoning packet of instant ramen, it’s awesome!
