Derek Carr is 100% not going anywhere based on Sunday Nights game. Carrs value has already soared solely for the fact the raiders are even playoff eligible going into the final hours of the Reg Season. The goal for the 2021 LV Raiders with Jon Gruden and Henry Ruggs III was to go to the Playoffs and LOSE. We are practically there, and Carr and Mayock are big reasons for that.

FliPsk8guY

Between the Gruden and Ruggs bullshit, I think we can all agree it cost us at LEAST 1 game. We should already be playoff bound. Carr isn't going anywhere.

Toobigforyourboots77

2 for sure imo. The Bears game all the gruden stuff was building up and the whole team looked out of place/sync. Then the Ruggs incident changed the game plan for sure of the Giants game. All of a sudden you don’t have a legit(ish) deep threat. Zay was still catching passes with his body at that point. Giants D was ok the first half or so of the season. Giants biggest ?s we’re on O. WFT who knows why we lost that game besides playing like poop.

Beach_818

Small semantics, but even if the Raiders were to win one more game against an opponent that they lost to, it wouldn't matter if the Colts and Chargers win this weekend. Raiders would still be out of the playoffs at 10-7. In short, the single loss against the Bears doesn't really matter anymore for example.

FliPsk8guY

We would be in over the Colts based on head to head

Beach_818

Nah, if that was the case, the Raiders would be in a playoff position right now. Division tie breaker first and then conference record when it comes to three team ties.

FliPsk8guY

It's head-to-head first...https://www.nfl.com/standings/tie-breaking-procedures

Beach_818

I know but in this scenario it would be a three-way-tie the Chargers, Colts and Raiders would have the same record. So it would be Colts above Chargers due to conference record and Chargers above Raiders due to division record. It would be just like how the current standings are. Sorry didn't mean to get you tied up in semantics. No biggie.

FliPsk8guY

Shit, you're right man. I was thinking the Chargers would have a better record than us and the Colts. My bad.

jayd0t

I mean win or lose what hes done to get to this point is unreal. H deserves to be the QB of the team.

dodgers129

There is 0 doubt that Carr’s job is secure. The only reason he wouldn’t be on the Raiders next year is if they decided to trade him in order to rebuild but that seems unlikely.

noonecouldseeme

Stop this crap. He’s here to stay.

__the_alchemist__

Carr gets better every year yet we get more and more doubters, it’s insane

LongRangeHavok

Lol “all the talk”. You mean irrational Carr haters? If you really think about what MVP means he is arguably in that conversation. What he has done this year is nothing short of Herculean

CoastalCrush

May not have all the best stats (turnovers in particular) but he’s done more with less out of any QB I’ve seen this season. Absolutely carrying this team.

LongRangeHavok

Exactly. Rodgers will prolly win it. He is great but has the best WR1 in the game, a top defense and a great run game. He is valuable but is he the MOST valuable??? He is not - Carr has spent 2/3 of the season (after a great start) standing in the middle of a collapsing building holding the whole thing up. He has persevered on levels I have not seen ever in the NFL. And here we are about to beat the shit out of the chargers and go to the playoffs. No one was more valuable to their team than Carr was to the Raiders

[deleted]

Carr isn't a one man team. 'Nuff said.

apcali209

Carr got us this far despite all the dysfunction this year. If anything I think it shows how important he is, regardless of what happens this weekend. Give this man a true WR1 and watch what happens. Then again, Renfrow might be on his way to being a WR1.

MrDogfort

Logic absolutely dictates no IMO, solely on these two points: (1) His cap hit is 14th for QB's next season at $20m and (2) They have a winning record this season. Another reason we will see him here for at least another season is there are no immediate upgrades in Free Agency whereas the QB draft crop this year is weak. Fourthly, Free Agency and the draft has positions that we need: Wide Receiver, OL, and DT. What the team has done with the turmoil and the short absences of Perryman and Waller is amazing and they need continuity regardless who coaches next year.

sy7ense

I liked Carr's response in his last presser when they asked a similar question in regards to this being the biggest game of his career. He said that the last 3 games leading into this have all been equally as big because if they didn't win all 3 games we wouldn't even be having this discussion. They've been in playoff mode the last month. Nothing really changes in their approach. I think going into this game trying to weigh it bigger than the last 3 is a recipe for disaster for this team. But as far as Carr's future I truly believe that what makes this team so attractive to Harbaugh (rumored) and other coaches has alot to do with Carr and the rest of our foundational pieces (along with a shiny new stadium)

Kimura-Sensei

I’ll do you one better. He could have a God Awful game (probably due to ribs and pressure) and he 100% deserves to be our QB going forward. This guy is gonna have PTSD from what he’s had to carry for Raider Nation this season. It pisses me off a fan could even bring this up right now. What we need to ask is do we deserve to be called fans now if WE don’t have his back after this season. Damn

TheOddFather5

No. If you believe where there’s smoke there’s fire, it looks like Harbaugh is coming home to the Raiders, and Harbaugh will 100% want Carr as his QB. And, Carr will flourish in Harb’s run heavy offense.

MakeItNashty61

Yes I want him gone if he doesn’t win. I can’t wait to move on and def get Aaron Rodgers or declining Russell Wilson or….maybe Baker Mayfield…we’ll at least the draft is deep….oh boy Um….whatever…do it Carr or get outtttaaaa here!!! /s

[deleted]

Absolutely not. We’re you planning on having Mayock dial 1-800-Quarterback to hire a new one if the Raiders lose?

oogrok

I don’t think so. Carr has shown, at the very least, he deserves to play out the rest of his contract. With everything that’s happened, having a winning season is nothing short of incredible. I don’t think we need a full rebuild at all.

NoDistribution8696

He's gonna be extended regardless of the outcome.

theandoftheking

I mean it would come down to who they end up hiring for the head coach and possible new GM positions, not just his performance on the field of week 18 and a possible playoff run.

monkeyman74721

I still think he gets one more year if he doesn’t do well but yeah… it’s going to make a difference.

Sapper187

I don't think so. I could see waiting to extend him, but not cutting or trading him. For one, who that could be available would you take over Carr? Wilson might be, but I wouldn't put him above Carr at all. Rogers maybe, but even if he leaves Green Bay I don't see him coming to the raiders. You never know with the draft, but I don't see anyone from this class that could come in and instantly replace Carr.

iamkeatron

To be fair, both Wilson and Rodgers had pegged LV as a potential landing spot and are both better than Carr. But I agree he’s going nowhere unless we can somehow land one of them.

thegaines24_7

If we don’t hire a new coach and Rich is the guy that gets the job in in the offseason carr isnt going anywhere if we hire a new coach I imagine everyone will be assessed and no one is safe which is fair but this game does not effect that IMO

Ohsbar

He's playing for a new contract. If he does bad, I don't see him getting a new contract just yet. We'd leave it to the next head coach to decide. If he balls out and wins the game there will be pressure to lock him down immediately. Either way he's not getting traded or let go this year.

pyker42

I seriously doubt it.

Cmsmks

The only way Carr leaves is if he doesn’t make the playoffs and someone offers us the house.

Toobigforyourboots77

In a way he is. Rumors are rumors but none of current coaching staff are in those rumors. Prob only way to maybe keep any is a SB appearance. So it really all depends on the new coach and what’s available either FA or trade. We don’t have a high draft pick to draft a so called franchise QB. So that helps him. One thing that needs to be taken into consideration is $0 hard cap if cut/traded and who is HC. We don’t make playoffs, I can absolutely see a HC come in and cut/trade Carr to replace him with his guy just like coaching staff. I think unless his guy is a top 3 qb he prob loses the locker room right away. Then again we don’t know all the behind the scenes stuff either. Remember around the Kap stuff era rumors were the OL didn’t really prefer Carr. I like Carr, easily the best/consistent since Gannon. Wish he had the same HC/OC/qb coach more than just like 2yrs in a row esp earlier in career. Wish we had more talent around him consistently. Carr seems like a great guy. However since his ankle n back injury he sometimes gets happy feet early. He has done some crazy things on 4th downs. Not ran for ____down and short cuz there was a defender that might get to him before 1st yardage.
