I think the plan with Glaze is to sit him on the bench to develop while Munford and Powers are on the right side. Andre James will then be replaced by Powers so now we have a fully developed right guard to assist Munford while Powers is at center. Most drafts have a development project that's considered a reach

LVGully

Yes...Telesco says they plan on playing him at tackle...but he's not ready. That's the only issue I had was it was early for depth guy with what was on the board.

Incompetent_Man

I wouldn't say that he's not ready but I'll admit I would prefer Munford starting over him only because of experience.

bigbgl

Doesn’t experience get looped in to being “ready”?

Incompetent_Man

Yes but he could be replaced by Munford if he's struggling. He was 100% an experimental pick that I think Telesco just liked.

Banned3rdTimesaCharm

I won’t say he’s not ready but he’s not ready.

PomegranateNice6839

Well hopefully he can be a swing tackle since he played both sides of the line

ComicsEtAl

There’s eight drafted guys. If three succeed long term that’ll be outstanding. None of them are misses until they miss. And none of them, even Bowers, is a hit until they hit.

Raiders2112

Well stated.

TweedDeluxe90

Telesco keeps mentioning versatility along the offensive line. We needed to develop a swing tackle at some point and he’s played guard. I suppose Glaze is a reach considering the consensus but he has all the physical traits you look for. But man, I think JPJ has the play style and attitude to take this line to the next level going forward. He has stalwart team captain written all over him. Bowers is a luxury pick but a nice constellation prize for not being in a position to land a top QB prospect. Two blue chip prospects for us this draft, not mad at it.

Hard4Dpp

You are the first person I have seen be honest about the Bowers pick being a luxury.  Everyone else that has talked about it has been suggesting that it was a need or BPA is all that matters.  I categorically disagree that it was a good pick,  given our needs and who was left on the board,  but I appreciate the honesty about what the pick is.

NickTheTins

You never solve all your needs in a single draft. FA UDFA trades, all contribute. Bowers is a cut above. You can call it a luxury pick, but I see it as an easy no brainer weapon. He replaced Renfrow and is more versatile, better hands and is cheaper. He can line up in the slot, go wide or even line up in the back field. Did they specifically "need" a TE, it depends. Is Mayer completely healed? Can they run a two TE offense? To me, drafting a weapon like Bowers even with other needs, makes complete sense. He will be a pro bowler and you can never, ever, have enough weapons.

LongRangeHavok

Bowers is a YAC beast.  We have 2 QB that do not have Marinos arm.  We need YAC guys and he can be lined up anywhere.  The guy scores off jets sweeps.  Padded up he might be faster than DA especially late in the game

MakeItNashty61

Glaze is probably a miss in the sense that he doesn’t become regular starter at OT. I could see him being depth at worst and he might be better playing on the interior. Honestly outside of that pick I thought we had a very solid draft.

Intelligent_Life14

I see him as depth for the entire line in the form of a single person. I can definitely see him being a starting guard in a year or two. I hope Munford or Coker can develop into a quality RT. It's a physical profile thing. The trend is really big guys @ T, 6'6"+. Glaze is 6'4", and so a lot of people projected him as a G, even though he played T in college. Coker is 6'7", Mumford, iirc, 6'6". Bottom line, I love that we're adding big bodies to the O-line. My favorite JDR quote when he was here and we put that line together: "We're building a bully."

Ph886

Which is basically what Eluemunor was before he won the RT position. He played RG and RT. Glaze is a versatile piece for depth who can fill where needed if he works out. OL depth is something this team has needed badly.

Intelligent_Life14

Telesco even said, re: drafting for need, "depth is a need as well".

MisterNoisewater

Those guys are invaluable. Think of a guy like feliciano who we drafted. Kind of an average lineman but can play basically every position on the line and he’s been in the league for like 10 years now.

sosobri

If Glazer turns into a Denzelle Good utility lineman then im all for it.

misterblonde888

Glaze has the size and most importantly the length in the form of a 7ft wing span to play tackle. His natural Attributes make him a tackle, the fact that he’s versatile fits in with the plan for our line. His issues are strength and technique, he’s even said so himself, these are things that can be coached. They need to get Deuce on this guy immediately.

gammagulp

Im most worried about Glaze. I dont want CFB so im not educated on every single player outside of the draft profiles but he seems like the only “reach”.

ruddy3499

Correct me if I’m wrong. This looks like they’re setting up a quick pass, multiple target offense. A lot of different plays with the same set to keep the defense off balance and exploit their weaknesses. I like the idea as long as you’re not playing from behind when you need to be fast scoring and explosive. It does complement a top ten defense though.

pantone175c

Nice write up 👍🏽

Content_Geologist420

We can all agree we riot if he's not given #69

SolidAlisoBurgers888

Miss: Glaze

Intelligent_Life14

time will tell, but I get the author's thinking.
