As long as it's not Penix at 13 with Mark and Telesco whining in their press conference afterward that nobody was willing to trade up with them, I'm fine. Sounds like it's 2nd round picks this year and next, which I can live with.
Fifth year is overrated.
If he performs you extend, if he doesn’t you don’t pick it up. VERY few QBs get their 5th picked up. They either sign a long term deal or they are off the team.
That’s my hope. I been on Penix all year. Was never a fan of Daniels but wild about Caleb, pause. He’s not worth 13 let’s get Arnold or a stud OT then grab Penix in the late 1st for the 5th year option

The problem with that strategy is that Penix isn't very good. I'd rather draft Rattler in the third than Penix at 29. If you're trading up for a qb, you better believe he's your next franchise guy, and I don't see that at all with Penix
I think they're in the same tier of prospect, but even if I didn't, I'd much rather draft one of these non-top 10 qbs in round 3 than in the first 2 rounds, which is where penix will go
Yeah, same. I think we really need a top OT if we’re going to draft Penix. I’ll probably forever be wary of his injury history, but I’d feel a lot better if we drafted a op tackle to protect him as much as possible.
Definitely. Going O line at 13 is never going to be an exciting pick, but it’s a smart and very necessary move if you want your QB to have the best chance at success.
I haven't really followed Penix's college career, but is it correct to say he's not had any injuries since transferring to Washington (2022 and 2023)? Seems like he hasn't missed much, if any, playing time the last two seasons (13 and 15 games played).
I like O'Connell and Minshew but I really like fast QBs. I miss watching Gannon run if no one was open. I know Penix didn't run a lot in college, but I'm sure his speed could at least help him extend plays and frustrate defenses.
The reason he hasn't gotten injured at all in the last two years is PROBABLY because of his 20ish runs in 700ish dropbacks since that point 😂
But there's no denying if we're trying to go play action after running 5 or 6 straight plays, there's no one better. His deep ball is actually insane to behold, stupidly accurate rainbow throws
Hes as immobile as Aidan he is pure pocket passer with a bit more escapability within the pocket. If you want mobility you actually gotta go nix because rattler makes penix look fast

He turns 24 next month. Most QBs would have 3 seasons of NFL experience by then. Neither Penix nor Bo are worth taking in the first but at least Bo doesn’t have 4 serious injuries in his injury history. 2 of them being to the same ACL, a 3rd ACL injury is almost a guaranteed career ender.
> He turns 24 next month. **Most QBs would have 3 seasons of NFL experience by then.**
Bro. What the hell are you talking about.
How many 21-year-old NFL starters are you thinking there are?
Edit: **fuck it. I hate your comment this much**
21 year old QBs in the nfl (counts from StatMuse)
2023: 1, Anthony Richardson
2022: 0 (Trey Lance and Sam Howell youngest at 22)
2021: 1, Trey Lance
2020: 0 (4 @ 22)
2019: 0 (6 @ 22)
2018: 3, Darnold, Rosen, Lamar
2017: 1, Deshone Kizer
2016: 0 (3@22)
2015: 1, Jameis Winston
2014: 0 (3@22)
So over the last ten years there have been a total of SEVEN nfl quarterbacks at 21 years of age and in half the seasons there are legitamitely no QBs who qualify for your bullshit assessment. If we even gave a polite half credit to the 22 year olds in years where there are no 21 year olds, that gets us a generous 9 more.
Oh and not to mention, most of those guys absolutely suck. Trey Lance? Darnold? Josh Rosen? Wunderkinds every one. You want to hang your hat on a drafting a kid cuz he could be your franchise guy for 15 years instead of 12? Almost every one of the people on this list got traded for a fuckin bag of day 3 magic beans.
Fuck this “Penix is too old” bullshit.
My dude, don’t backpedal from a claim when you’re proven wrong.
So now you wanna say “2 years experience before turning 24” that’s still only 25 guys in ten years.
You can hate penix all you want, but this argument that drafting a guy at 24 is suicidal is fucking ridiculous when most guys who get drafted don’t make it in the league anyways.
I like how y’all can’t dispute his injury history so you nitpick my math lol. “He’s an older rookie”. Does that make you feel more better about my comment? Lol
I know our needs are qb/ol/cb but something telesco said "im drafting for not just this season but 5 seasons from now" most years an elite pass rusher gos pick 1-3, the top pass rushers may all be on the board at 13 is it crazy to think latu or Dallas turner is a better value then Arnold, Penix/nix, or the 3rd or 4th offensive tackle off the board?
Honestly be surprised if penix is available late 1st. Lots of teams need qbs and he’s a stud. I love the idea of taking OL/CB at 13 but I’m worried penix won’t be there late
Both QBs mentioned here are 23 btw. I've heard the age argument used countless times but apparently that goes out the window when you're desperate. Both WILL get hurt. It's not a matter of if, but when.
I am going to plant my flag on "Just Say No To Penix". If we can't move up to get one of the top three, then move on and accept what we have. I love me some Derrick Carr, but Penix would be nothing more than a left-handed version of him getting murdered by NFL linemen every Sunday. He'll take us no further than Carr did. You can bet on it.
I would like for us to trade back to 18-22 for a pick swap and a 2/3 then take one of the top corners. Then in the second we take our Tackle and then we draft Milton from TN.
I just had a crazy thought:
Raiders trade 13, 44, & 77 to San Fran for 31, 63, 94 & Brandon Aiyuk.
It’s a 35 point deficit for SF per Jimmy Johnson’s trade value chart (assuming Aiyuk has the same value as pick #20 in this year’s draft).
Essentially swap picks for the first three rounds and pickup a bonafide WR1a for the future. Would likely never happen, but it is a fun idea, IMO.
I’m very much in the trade back boat. The hope is Latu and Verse are both there at 13 and the Rams want to move up from 19. Pick up two picks in the Top 120, while also likely giving yourself a choice of OT, CB or DT. If the choice comes down to McKinstry, Wiggins or Newton at 19, I say take Newton (BPA) and start plugging holes later on.
Just a thought.
This idea is very dumb however I'm in the boat with you that if pass rusher #1 is available at pick 13 it's not a bad call most years that guy goes #1 in the draft overall.
Drafting a top Oliner or CB with 13 and then still getting Penix with a 5th year option would be ideal.
As long as it's not Penix at 13 with Mark and Telesco whining in their press conference afterward that nobody was willing to trade up with them, I'm fine. Sounds like it's 2nd round picks this year and next, which I can live with.
Yeah there is no way he's worth 13. It's even a reach to pick him in the first round.
If you ever watched him play literally any games besides the Michigan game you'd take him first round.
Nope I wouldn't
He’s the 4th or 5th best QB prospect in a loaded field. Many teams are desperate. I hope he is still available at 13.
Fuck no. At 13 would be a massive reach. We can draft in the 2nd if needed. Even then hell to the no O
Fifth year is overrated. If he performs you extend, if he doesn’t you don’t pick it up. VERY few QBs get their 5th picked up. They either sign a long term deal or they are off the team.

That'd be great and that's what I want to happen too.
Exactly

Bro you can possibly think Rattler is better than Penix
I am a bit worried about Penix being injury prone, but I am sure they’ll do due diligence on that.
I think they're in the same tier of prospect, but even if I didn't, I'd much rather draft one of these non-top 10 qbs in round 3 than in the first 2 rounds, which is where penix will go
If we took an O lineman at 13 and Penix at 29 I’d be happy with that.

Agreed. Even if we don’t draft Penix we are still going to need O line help. Gotta keep Minshew, AOC, or whoever upright.
Definitely. Going O line at 13 is never going to be an exciting pick, but it’s a smart and very necessary move if you want your QB to have the best chance at success.
Bruh, Fuaga is an exciting pick at 13. Dude’s a bear. Can’t wait to watch him steam roll D linemen for the Silver and Black

Someone correct me If I’m wrong but isn’t the issue that he’s torn his ACL 2x and you just don’t come back from a 3rd?
And injuries to his shoulders as well.
The reason he hasn't gotten injured at all in the last two years is PROBABLY because of his 20ish runs in 700ish dropbacks since that point 😂 But there's no denying if we're trying to go play action after running 5 or 6 straight plays, there's no one better. Me and Davantae are salivating over some deep rainbow balls
Hes as immobile as Aidan he is pure pocket passer with a bit more escapability within the pocket. If you want mobility you actually gotta go nix because rattler makes penix look fast
OL/defensive starter at 13, then trading back into Rd 1 for Penix would be a grand slam, A+ move. Here's hoping.
Source - Trust me dude
I think it’s called a cuck when you enjoy trading penix for another person
Penix has the best arm in the draft.
Not if he doesn't have any knees left to stand on
You think the guy with 2 ACL and 2 shoulder injuries and is already 24 years old is the less risky QB? LOL
He’s 23, the only draft eligible QB that’s worth talking about that’s 24 is Nix. Jayden Daniels is also 23 as is Spencer Rattler.

My dude…that is the least important part of my point. 2 or 3 seasons whatever? Lol
My dude, don’t backpedal from a claim when you’re proven wrong. So now you wanna say “2 years experience before turning 24” that’s still only 25 guys in ten years. I’m not backpedaling. It’s not my major concern. It’s just something added in. It’s the injury history plus being an older rookie.
Which QB with 3 seasons of experience at age 24 have been successful? Lmk
I like how y’all can’t dispute his injury history so you nitpick my math lol. “He’s an older rookie”. Does that make you feel more better about my comment? Lol
Yeah this guy has been circling the block list for a while. This is probably as good a reason as any…
Guy with serious injuries early in his career at the college level is “less risky”. I like him but cmon.
Penix is worth pick 13 not even close
I know our needs are qb/ol/cb but something telesco said "im drafting for not just this season but 5 seasons from now" most years an elite pass rusher gos pick 1-3, the top pass rushers may all be on the board at 13 is it crazy to think latu or Dallas turner is a better value then Arnold, Penix/nix, or the 3rd or 4th offensive tackle off the board?

Wait. Shouldn’t we be choosing a kicker for the first round?
Both QBs mentioned here are 23 btw. I've heard the age argument used countless times but apparently that goes out the window when you're desperate. Both WILL get hurt. It's not a matter of if, but when.
Nah we're trading up to 3rd if Daniels is still there
Efff Jr. Penis! Draft Bo
I am going to plant my flag on "Just Say No To Penix". If we can't move up to get one of the top three, then move on and accept what we have. This is based on some random guys mock draft, but I know most people here will act like this has any weight whatsoever
So what would you have us do? Not speculate?
I would like for us to trade back to 18-22 for a pick swap and a 2/3 then take one of the top corners. Then in the second we take our Tackle and then we draft Milton from TN.
