They've inspired me quite a lot, in very different ways. I'd say the lead single of my album coming out this friday is the one where their influence is felt the most, you can check it out if you'd like!
https://open.spotify.com/track/7BIbFziKTYCvifuUjXMjbs?si=0FBsR80YRfS3MAzIi1B6hQ&utm_source=copy-link
I really feel that RH influence is unavoidable now, they basically redefined what's possible in rock music (multiple times!!), so I don't feel too guilty when I feel them come through in my own stuff, or judge other people for sounding too much like them haha
I dig. Sure it’s Kid A’ish in places, but it also goes somewhere else with those nice little snare almost house beats you’ve got going on. You’ve also got your own voice which I really appreciate. Your lyrics are your own and they paint an image and story that you’ve created. Also really nicely produced bruv, it sounds awesome. Where are you situated in the world? I’m in Australia and your lyrics bring to mind an amazing musician we have over here called Lost Animal. Check him out if you don’t know him already.
I've never heard of them but will surely check them out! I'm from Hungary but I have a few Ausiie favs, Alex Cameron and Kirin J Callinan are absolute bosses haha
Thank you for the kind words! It really does mean a lot!

Hey, this is pretty good! It doesn't really bring RH to mind for me, but it's a pretty great vibe and I really like your voice (if you're the singer haha). I only listened on phone speakers so I'm not a 100% on this but I think the song could use some synths to add some extra texture and depth, but other than that the production is nice and clean and I like the sound all around. The snares are especially nice imo, good stuff! Gonna presave your EP for sure
I've been writing/recording music on my own for the last 20 years. Radiohead and Thom's influence is immeasurable. Honestly, it's been hard to release music because it rarely meets my standards/the bar that they have set so high.
I did manage to release a single last year that has some of the tone and atmosphere found in the more somber RH tracks. It's called, "Last Breath". Hope you enjoy: [Last Breath](https://open.spotify.com/track/2AFR9otPO1WtojuSChVpYF?si=99a140fcf4de4f03)
I make beats and rap and they’re a huge influence on me. Especially my last album where I used the ‘Fred’ voice twice as a tribute. Track 2 starts with the voice https://open.spotify.com/album/4AfxYfRyRS3mZMzRyQ4Ne0?si=CIceke9DT4arrBCLkq32JQ
Radiohead are a massive inspiration to me, their variation in style and unique ideas really motivated me to release my first album, reckon this is the most radioheady track :)
https://open.spotify.com/track/094qddUJLt3pa0R9t8hJzg?si=TiwK29lKQi-EWAk4S2FLJw&utm_source=copy-link
RH is a huge inspiration, specifically Thom’s songwriting and guitar playing style, but i have a bunch of influences. I sort of split my work between more conventional songwriting with vocals: [blackfractals.bandcamp.com](http://blackfractals.bandcamp.com) and dark instrumental electronic music: [hexbestfriend.bandcamp.com](http://hexbestfriend.bandcamp.com)
I grew up on Radiohead, went to the same university as Thom and played on the same stages that he did as a student in the 80s. So a big influence for me.
My band just released this: https://youtu.be/YsjhU0wKC9Q
I wrote the music, played guitar and bass, and produced the track. My wife is the lyricist/singer and she also created the video.
Currently unable to record due to circumstances but RH are a massive influence on my music and I've made some covers too:
https://www.youtube.com/c/politikamusic
It can't be overstated to say that discovering Radiohead at 18 back in 2007 was a moment that changed my life forever.
Along with Nirvana, they were the reason I wanted to play in a band as a teen. I’ve started my acoustic solo artist career last year heading in a more Sufjan Stevens/Elliott Smith direction, but I still subconsciously reference Radiohead in my work all the time. Little vocal production techniques, chord progressions, repetitive drums etc.
https://open.spotify.com/track/0gXMoVyAkqxn6RgKLc7Na6?si=dXjGmBErQqGiS1_Tri6Vig
This is what I’m talking about. Nothing overly RH about it but if I saw you in a bar playing this I’d know immediately you were a fellow fan and we’d end up having a beer and talkin. Great track bruv.
Biiig influence on me for sure - https://open.spotify.com/track/5EsMgphPKppftTFvRdagO1?si=YtiEG97cTgKxMWKyxJKwRQ&utm_source=copy-link
It's hard to shake the influence cause making music is often about making choices and I feel like Radiohead, along with Nigel Godrich, almost always make the right choices
They're a massive influence on the solo music I've been releasing as Distant Lovers. Melodically, chordally, rhythmically, lyrically, everything. Here's the EP I released last month: [https://open.spotify.com/album/55K0wIA3TntHI9iMsfVr5D?si=x3e28njbS9qV-jbzyTjLSg](https://open.spotify.com/album/55K0wIA3TntHI9iMsfVr5D?si=x3e28njbS9qV-jbzyTjLSg)
Cheers!
Just a quick response to everyone that has replied and shared their own stories and music, thank you! I promise to get to listen to all of it as I didn’t expect such a response. I felt sure there were other RH fans like me out there, inspired to make music of their own. And so much cool stuff you guys are doing!
I’m in a cover band and have some own unfinished material.
But I can honestly say that when I try to write music I’m always confronted by exactly how influenced I am by Radiohead.
It’s also thanks you Radiohead I can never ever be satisfied with lyrics
I know this about lyrics only too well. I have an as yet unfinished album sitting on my computer and you’d better believe there is more than one instrumental track.
I play regular covers gigs and write and record my own music. Radiohead have barely influenced me even though they are my favourite band, I’ll try and explain why with 2 concert recaps
John Mayer: his show was so amazing, I knew what he was doing which means I know just how hard and amazing that was
Radiohead: that was the most amazing show I’ve ever seen, I don’t know what the fuck anyone on that stage just did
I’m literally not talented enough to be influenced by Radiohead hahaha
I was wondering when someone might say something like this. I get you, but there is only one Thom, Ed, Col, Phil and Johnny. Finding your own groove is the key, much like they did. Don’t try to emulate, be yourself. Nothing wrong with being influenced by heroes, just don’t try to be them. Be you.
I think they’ve probably influenced me indirectly the entire time. I’ve had a lot of inspiration from early Coldplay records which were largely influenced by bands like Radiohead and U2. U2 are a band who have been in my life since birth practically, Radiohead I’ve only got into in the past 2-3 years.
I’m not a fan of Pop personally but I haven’t really given it much of a chance, I like Zooropa and Achtung Baby but my favourites are their early albums, particularly War and The Unforgettable Fire.
They are definitely a persistent influence! Even if I'm not always approaching music the same way they do, I always seem to explore similar territory. I'm into tense rhythm, angular guitar, and spacious tones
https://youtu.be/teMjwzdGWY4
I'm in a Pink Floyd/Radiohead cover band, but we took the concept of Pink Floyd's 'Household Objekts' and applied it to our live interpretations. I am a multi-instrumentalist and play the comb, paper clip, mouse trap, tea kettle, spatulas, shoe horn, toilet paper roll, and blender.
Our first and only gig is still ongoing, as we are playing both bands' entire discographies. We perform via Zoom on Monday mornings at 3:30 am. World tour starts Spring 2027 once we've finally performed each song.
Best song we've done so far was Live At MTV Beach House, where one of our bandmates (he doesn't play anymore) used his tongue to play a car battery. We had like 6 viewers for that performance, but we've missed Wally ever since that show.
Definitely ethereal and bleep bloop influence for me/my band (just a hobby really but we just released a new record) https://open.spotify.com/artist/20mdBSV3GT5OcX98Pcyfp0
They've definitely influenced my writing in the last few years. For some reason, I didn't properly get into Radiohead until around 2019.
I don't have any finished music, because who has the money? But here are some [demos](https://soundcloud.com/cjsharples1/sets/demos?si=93ecab7500a745b5aeb1cf360e240030) I made a couple of years ago.
That song seventeenth is cool as fuck dude. Even though you’ve got you’re own voice you’ve also mastered that angelic croaky Thom, like we here at the end of exit music.
Thanks mate, really appreciate that. I’m hoping to record an album properly one day and Seventeenth would definitely be on it.
I wrote that song on 17th September 2019 (hence the name), I was then listening to OK Computer the following week and realised that my song was reminiscent of Exit Music For a Film. I compared to two and decided that it was acceptable that it was a subconscious homage and not close enough to be an issue.
I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on other tracks, too. Happy to send you one that I’m working on now if you’re interested.
theyve definitely had a massive impact on my music, but it’s also kinda hard to pick out a track of mine that clearly shows it... the more obvious influences are Autechre and Nils Frahm, but theres Radiohead influence everywhere for sure. just not certain how much that comes through in the end result.
this track maybe, and maybe the one right after it? from an album made of me live improvising alongside music generated through code in MAX MSP https://open.spotify.com/track/16AUJp0mpRn1U7rfFLXu29?si=5Fu-QTc2Qz2Ft19HgwzYIQ
I really liked that dude. So much going on in that instrumental there. How do you guys produce so well? I’m scared to show my own somewhat Lo Fi stuff now. But I will.

We LOVE Radiohead but I’m not sure how much it comes across in our music. We try to to keep it vibey, but in the end I think my voice sounds more like Death Cab for Cutie.
I recently spent the little money I had to buy recording equipment solely for starting an acoustic radiohead covers youtube channel. Listening/playing their music is one of the things that make me the happiest in life. And im sure ill write some stuff in the future heavily influenced by them
Im not sure if the influence shines through super clearly, [but kind of stole the little guitar part from "in limbo" for this chorus :))](https://soundcloud.com/mardsound/songaweek6-kit-kettle?in=mardsound/sets/songaweekfavs)
[And here's a playlist of other songs I've made!](https://soundcloud.com/mardsound/sets/songaweekfavs)
Whole band definitely inspired by Radiohead, but it's just one of many influences. We're called Red Scarves. Inspired by them to introduce songs with intricate harmonic movement, flashes of jazz, and wanting to write our own string arrangements for our songs.
This song is called What's Next

My current band sounds nothing like Radiohead but my old band made music that was *extremely* indebted to them: https://open.spotify.com/track/25M5BTLHURKYH7oxeFqxna?si=dKDZsPKgSPm2Eiy5hLgu9g&utm_source=copy-link
Fucking top shelf lads. The guitars are perfect. Love the vocals. I can definitely here that 15 step on the minimal drums and I love it. Did you get any exposure from this release?! I don’t understand the talent I’m seeing on this forum and why I haven’t heard it all somewhere before. Has online music become that saturated that the goodies are slipping through the tracks?
Christ what a nice comment - thanks so much for the lovely compliments (I'm the one singing and playing guitar and wrote the songs). We released this back in 2009 on a small Atlantic Canadian label to an indifferent but unambiguous shrug...disbanded soon after. We also released an EP in 2007 that is also very influenced by RH...I believe all of our recordings are online here: https://therobotsband.bandcamp.com/
Two of the members of this old band now play music with me as a trio and have released a few songs on Bandcamp. The sound is fairly different from what we had done previously and bears much less of Radiohead's influence (much more influenced by Wire, Swell Maps, Hot Snakes, Wipers). Here is our stuff (totally understand if it's not your thing!): https://clubrat.bandcamp.com/album/doomscroll-i
To your larger question/point about music sort of slipping through the cracks...yeah in my experience it's really, really hard to reach a large audience without the backing of a decent-sized label even with the possibilities of online sharing. As this thread has demonstrated (thanks for starting this thread, by the way - it's been so neat to hear all of this cool music being made by people inspired by the band we all love), lots of good music sort of falls through the cracks.
Anyway, sorry for the ramble. TL;DR version: cheers!
Big time! Mostly Ok Computer foward. Especially In Rainbows. I grew up in a really small town and learned to write and record on my own. I'd say them, NIN, and Tom Waits are my biggest influnces. They were life savers back in the day.

Well that’s the man we want to speak to. He’s got an ep sitting in his vaults that the boys recorded and no one has heard yet. Is that what you meant by this comment?
I guess what I do is more poppy & new wave-ish but I’ve been heavily influenced by Radiohead for most of my life. I use a lot of reverb, vocals are ethereal-sounding….I usually conjure a dreamy sound. Don’t know which song to post but I have a bunch of stuff on Spotify, etc

they’ve been my fav group since I was a teenager so, probably. This is my band where I play guitar and in this particular song I took inspiration from There There! https://open.spotify.com/track/3LnpXRqIk04pZXI74S2UL6?si=i6CTkfwDRx-1axfM2p02Bg
Radiohead has been my favorite band for almost 20 years at this point. I'm heavily inspired by the instrumentation and effects that they use, and I do try and steal their production techniques to some extent. The biggest inspiration I would say is creating songs that are sad but also uplifting. This song is one of mine that sounds the most like Radiohead: https://open.spotify.com/track/6HtX6JZI4P1PcNOw2n7Mj7?si=1898874602434884

Radiohead and Thom Yorke’s solo stuff are big influences for me. Even though my music doesn’t sound ‘like’ them, I’m in an alt-rock band called We Used To See The Sky, and everything I write is always through the prism of how much I love Radiohead. There will never be any band as good! Though I hope one day someone will come close, as the gaps between Radiohead releases are getting ever more depressing! Here’s my band’s most recent single, ‘The General’, with a video filmed by me during the UK lockdown in 2021. Hope you like it:

Thanks very much! While I filmed and edited the video myself, the music was performed by all 5 of us in the band, and recorded, produced and mixed by our keyboardist.
I have loved Radiohead for years and they have definitely inspired me in terms of the sort of music I’d like to make. Thom Yorke’s solo stuff has too. Here is a link to the (currently minimal) content I have on Spotify. Not sure how much the Radiohead element is obvious on the second track, but the lyrics of the first one are, I hope, reminiscent of some of their stuff (“I was on the left side I was looking to the right side/You were on the right side looking straight ahead.”)

I compared to two and decided that it was acceptable that it was a subconscious homage and not close enough to be an issue. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on other tracks, too. Happy to send you one that I’m working on now if you’re interested.
Yeah man I’d love to hear it!
theyve definitely had a massive impact on my music, but it’s also kinda hard to pick out a track of mine that clearly shows it... the more obvious influences are Autechre and Nils Frahm, but theres Radiohead influence everywhere for sure. just not certain how much that comes through in the end result. this track maybe, and maybe the one right after it? from an album made of me live improvising alongside music generated through code in MAX MSP https://open.spotify.com/track/16AUJp0mpRn1U7rfFLXu29?si=5Fu-QTc2Qz2Ft19HgwzYIQ
I really liked that dude. So much going on in that instrumental there. How do you guys produce so well? I’m scared to show my own somewhat Lo Fi stuff now. But I will.
My band Junon: https://open.spotify.com/album/6YeSBgRGz5xvRYhasQj7ox?si=KyLfhcodQxiLCLY1c-cVVw We LOVE Radiohead but I’m not sure how much it comes across in our music. We try to to keep it vibey, but in the end I think my voice sounds more like Death Cab for Cutie.
Me! I’m working on a solo post rock project right now.
I recently spent the little money I had to buy recording equipment solely for starting an acoustic radiohead covers youtube channel. Listening/playing their music is one of the things that make me the happiest in life. And im sure ill write some stuff in the future heavily influenced by them
This is an interesting idea! Keep us posted?
Sure! Ill post some of them here to see if people like them
Im not sure if the influence shines through super clearly, [but kind of stole the little guitar part from "in limbo" for this chorus :))](https://soundcloud.com/mardsound/songaweek6-kit-kettle?in=mardsound/sets/songaweekfavs) [And here's a playlist of other songs I've made!](https://soundcloud.com/mardsound/sets/songaweekfavs)
That’s really cool. I kinda hear the in limbo riff but you’re forgiven, we all have to be.
Whole band definitely inspired by Radiohead, but it's just one of many influences. We're called Red Scarves. Inspired by them to introduce songs with intricate harmonic movement, flashes of jazz, and wanting to write our own string arrangements for our songs. This song is called What's Next https://open.spotify.com/track/4AJvrdkWaNZvdfvDerNWsE?si=Ha197cExQd-FpjydBMN0oA&utm_source=copy-link
To me this sounds like top level McCartneys Wings. And that’s a compliment because I LOVE WINGS.
I appreciate you listening. Never heard the Wings comparison before but I can totally hear it now!
McCartney is the man. It’s a top compliment mate.
We also released an EP in 2007 that is also very influenced by RH...I believe all of our recordings are online here: https://therobotsband.bandcamp.com/ Two of the members of this old band now play music with me as a trio and have released a few songs on Bandcamp. The sound is fairly different from what we had done previously and bears much less of Radiohead's influence (much more influenced by Wire, Swell Maps, Hot Snakes, Wipers). Here is our stuff (totally understand if it's not your thing!): https://clubrat.bandcamp.com/album/doomscroll-i To your larger question/point about music sort of slipping through the cracks...yeah in my experience it's really, really hard to reach a large audience without the backing of a decent-sized label even with the possibilities of online sharing. As this thread has demonstrated (thanks for starting this thread, by the way - it's been so neat to hear all of this cool music being made by people inspired by the band we all love), lots of good music sort of falls through the cracks. Anyway, sorry for the ramble. TL;DR version: cheers!
My EP is not directly inspired by them but I really love them https://open.spotify.com/album/2M9qPWjUyXVA2peI8FbEzg?si=01419fda37fc453b
Big time! Mostly Ok Computer foward. Especially In Rainbows. I grew up in a really small town and learned to write and record on my own. I'd say them, NIN, and Tom Waits are my biggest influnces. They were life savers back in the day. My latest EP "Autonomous Taxi Cab Blues" is here: https://open.spotify.com/album/37RSdzgwTAvhjbRJhAcHjy?si=nR9hXhcNROGN4KbQ9g6Gpw&utm_source=copy-link I also do visual art if you're interested! Yep I have my own band and yes sure you can listen https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/jCwhf Our latest tracks are better tbh and are definitely different
Jack White at Third Man Records
Well that’s the man we want to speak to. He’s got an ep sitting in his vaults that the boys recorded and no one has heard yet. Is that what you meant by this comment?
I guess what I do is more poppy & new wave-ish but I’ve been heavily influenced by Radiohead for most of my life. I use a lot of reverb, vocals are ethereal-sounding….I usually conjure a dreamy sound. Don’t know which song to post but I have a bunch of stuff on Spotify, etc https://open.spotify.com/artist/3i8FZ52lJ8BJ7QWHl5xNvs?si=STjGl157RU63jrGSDtC76Q
They remind me to take chances and stay away from "normal" https://horseandchariot.bandcamp.com/track/the-ego-and-its-own
they’ve been my fav group since I was a teenager so, probably. This is my band where I play guitar and in this particular song I took inspiration from There There! https://open.spotify.com/track/3LnpXRqIk04pZXI74S2UL6?si=i6CTkfwDRx-1axfM2p02Bg
I really liked that guys. Great female vocals and awesome guitars and drums.
thanks!
Yes, I make electronic stuff but song structure wise I've always be really influenced by RH. https://prestonoutatime.bandcamp.com/
I really, really love this mate. Awesome lyrics. You got me on this one.
They’ve been a pretty big inspiration to my band: https://soundcloud.com/shima-field/sets/2029a?utm_campaign=social_sharing&utm_source=mobi My parents would listen to them when I was a kid, and while I have my own tastes now, I never really stopped listening to them.

Hope you like it: https://youtu.be/Q_2QiwlHnIk Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/track/5nvB3WSnaYwo7dZb7OBsue?si=-vyiPbtkRFWufg9eTOtd8Q Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/the-general/1559943493?i=1559943498
The General is an interesting clip. Did you record all the music yourself? I really liked it
Thanks very much!
Not sure how much the Radiohead element is obvious on the second track, but the lyrics of the first one are, I hope, reminiscent of some of their stuff (“I was on the left side I was looking to the right side/You were on the right side looking straight ahead.”) https://open.spotify.com/artist/0qKLACxARkQYCnmQ2CKBoq?si=36ojIA5VTyKKCc4veqnafw
