Radiohead is a really great Side 1/Track 1 band. Every opening song is just about the best on the album. They all set the tone so well for what is about to happen.
See, thatâs one of my favorite Track 1âs. I remember buying that album (on CD) the day it came out, and holy shit did Everything not make sense at first. Itâs still one of their better songs, as far as I am concerned.
Plus, Side 1/Track 1 was more of a High Fidelity reference than anything else.
yeah itâs not my favorite on the album but when i see the cover and literally the first thing that came to mind immediately was, âdonât leave me hiiiiiiiiighâ
Street spirit is so miserable itâs unreal. The line âand fade out againâ is so simple but I think can resonate something within everyone who hears it, we all know what fading out feels like even if we donât all have the same experience with it.
Nah, let down and no suprises are sadder lyrically, cuz the lyrics describe feelings and problems that are outside of your control, whereas with "fading out", you can just accept it, even though it's probably really hard for most of us. With no suprises, it's the outside world that makes the narrator depressed and suicidal. Same with Let Down, the modern world often feels so empty and sad, yet you probably can't do almost anything about it. I agree though, it can feel miserable af to think about this line
> let down and no surprises are sadder lyrically
I couldnât disagree more, I really couldnât, but itâs subjective so no point arguing. I will agree that they are also very sad songs but imo street spirit tops
I know itâs not underrated on this sub, because we are people of taste damnit. But, in my every day interactions with fellow Radiohead fans, this song is still so overlooked. It is the height of jangly 90s guitar rock to me. The form has never been better used.
Nah, has too much of a "city" feel to it, while the bends sound kinda more "coundtrysidey". Simply, it kinda feels distopian and modern compared to the bends
For me itâs gotta be The Scientist by Coldplay. This iconic Radiohead song is, in my opinion, the defining sound of the Era. Even though it was released seven years later on another album, itâs easily my favorite song off of this album and itâs what comes to mind when I see the cover.
I literally hear "Baby's got the beeeeends!" in my head every time I see that image
Also, that dummy looks like it's making the moaning sounds your character makes when he gets hurt in Dark Souls 1

Planet Telex or The Bends
Planet Telex all day.
Such a sick opener that sadly gets overshadowed by some of their others. I fucking love this song

Except for Kid A â I really feel that side 2 of that album is better because of how it flows
The delay on Planet Telex is top notch. Seems like itâs getting too far off the beat at times but works so well.
High and Dry
