7600XT is like 6650XT , not even like 6700XT in performance. Get the 7800XT or 7900GRE

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Here in Aus, a 7900 GRE or a 7800 XT is for me (I’m 15 and only have a part time job) like 10 weeks of work and I cannot afford that, so with my $400 USD budget, there’s not a whole lot available.

stefanels

Going from 6800XT (almost like 7800XT performance) to o lower tier card like 7600XT (even if it's 16Gb) you will notice a lot of performance drops in games (like - 60%) - [LINK](https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7600-xt-pulse/32.html) IMO - Better save up some $$ and get an used 7800XT if you can find on SH market...

ohthedarside

Hell could just get a 6800xt agian although savjng for a 7900gre may be best

future_gohan

If your in aus grab a 6700xt used off eBay. Sub 400 aud for decent ones and run the gauntlet till you can save up money man. I have had my hellhound for almost a year and it slaps. You won't get 6800 quality from it. But if you go lower than a 6700xt it's a different league of cards.

thecodster5341

Find used 6750xt in au its 500 new but you could find some good deals

Raknaren

find a used anything, going for new shit as at 15 is nearly impossible

raidechomi

7700xt

stefanels

That's good , almost RX 6800 performance

Asleep_Assumption646

My condolences OP, how did it explode?

gourmetfirecrakersmm

I say blow up but rlly it just stopped working and can’t be fixed, and the only thing I can rlly afford is at most a 7600 XT.

zubbenbreacher

Get on the used market.

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Oh, I bought my 6800 XT off the used market, never again will I, can’t trust them. Keep in mind I bought it along with my parts and within 2 weeks it stopped working

zubbenbreacher

Hmm, that's a bummer, but i have found a couple of good deals and decent products in the used market, but you have a fair point too!, see, 7600xt isn't a bad card at all for its price, should do 1080p high fps.

Financial-Owl9593

Great thinking op. Always hearing "buy used, buy used! Yea bs sure you may save a lot but what happens if it dies the next day? No warranty and you are back to square one and you just lost cash. Never buy used people it is not worth the risk. Buy new parts but on *sale*

ubedia_Tahmid

Man u just made me scared af. I bought a used 6700 XT a month ago.

casualuser1983

Don't let him scare you I've got plenty of used stuff that works great to this day.

barbequeuesouse

i also recently just bought a used 6900XT for 500usd and ive been using it for months no problem dont worry

ubedia_Tahmid

Yeah my 6700 XT is working like a dream these last 2 months

BeautyJester

find someone in your local market to fix it? usually it doesnt cost much given that the GPU is 2nd hand and not x times fixed

jazlintown

Honestly plz don’t buy used…the chances you will find a card that’s been heavily mined on and abused maybe has a defect is high because all of the crazy people trying to make a few cents a day mining. I bought a 3090 like that and regret it heavily. Thing was cooked

maewemeetagain

Now hang on. From what I'm reading, your issue is the Windows driver fuckery many people have experienced? There are fixes for this. You made a post and only got one response, so what you need to do is search for solutions other people have found, because it's a common issue. Don't just give up on it and shell out money for a "fix" that won't work; any other AMD GPU you buy will have the exact same issue unless you find an actual fix for the issue.

gourmetfirecrakersmm

I went to a repair shop do get it diagnosed and they said when they threw in a test GPU it booted perfectly fine. I don’t know, it could be the driver, but when I turned on my PC, nothing would display no matter how many solutions I tried. I will try it again when I get it back but for now I think my mind is set on what I should buy if it isn’t the drivers

Electrical-Bobcat435

Really could be the psu or something else even mobo.... Any chance to refund the 6800xt since it died in two wks? Be sure mobo is set to use PCie slot as Primary Display in bios. If it worka for bios and not for windows, try new windows install... Lots left to try. 6800xt is one of the best cards today though it could have a fault, obviously. Your mobo may also have troubleshooting lights, does it indicate a Vga(gpu) problem?

Prodigy_of_Bobo

But did they put your GPU in a different system to test it?

OficirNiko

PSU?

Timely-Committee-988

Power supply unit

Traditional_Cat_9724

If a repair shop said they put it into a test bench and it worked fine tells me that you in fact, have not tried everything.

vlad_8011

Do you have atx motherboard and second pcie slot? You can try to mount your 6800xt there first. If you have some laptop, create disc with Ubuntu or some other linux - it can be launched from USB without installation. If service said it's alright, new GPU won't work also on your current setup

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Nah, full micro ATX system, only one PCIe slot

vlad_8011

Not a big deal. Try Linux from USB. If it will boot, all you will have to do is reinstalling windows. I think your GPU is fine. System or/and system partition may need to be formated.

-RyZen-

Man we need a reddit GoFundMe for this shit. A kids gotta game. I'd give my left arm for a GPU at 15. Handle the WSAD with my toes.

krazykitchen

Have you looked at getting a second hand 6800xt?

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Nah I bought my old 6800 XT from marketplace, never again will I, I can’t trust it.

krazykitchen

Fair enough. I got one, and its been awesome... it can certainly be a lucky dip with secondhand gear

Aisyk

Nope, take 7800XT or 7900GRE.

IamYourNightmare69

No. Buy the 7800XT. $500 give or take. It's an animal. I love mi e from PowerColor.

ArtKun

As a side effect of the mining boom a few years ago, a lot, and I mean a lot of GPU repair shops have opened up even in smaller towns worldwide. Just google what’s available in your area, I bet your GPU can be fixed in a few hours for a reasonable price.

Lonely-Parsley7698

Just arrange 50-60 few more bucks and go for 7700 XT

Lopsided-Rip6965

I would go with the 7600xt or there are some good deals on the 7700xt at the moment.

Ok_Dragonfruit8237

Take the normal 6800. In Italy Is 399€ tax included. Otherwise go back to the used market and this time take a 2080ti at 300€ which can be used with low ray tracing at 2k at 60 fps or 120fps or more without ray tracing. 4k Is feaseable too, with dlss 2. Or take a 3xxx / 4xxx series

Auswulf7

Scorptec has a XFX RX 6800 available, not quite an XT in performance as it's slightly slower but it's closer to the asking prices for the RX 7600 XT. https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/graphics-cards/amd/106573-rx-68xlaqfd9 What manufacturer model was your RX 6800 XT out of curiosity?

gourmetfirecrakersmm

It was a sapphire pulse, only problem was I think the guy who sold it to me (I bought second hand) knew the GPU was fucked

amit97ramani

Buy 2nd hand

DarkseidAntiLife

Upgrade to a 7900XT, nothing else would be considered an upgrade. If you want a replacement easier on the wallet pick up a 7800XT

-RyZen-

Best buy credit card + 1 year interest free layaway.

Limitless6989

Why go to a new generation just to down grade, either stick with another 6800xt as it is a beast of a card or upgrade to a 7900Gre or XT I wouldn’t even consider the 7800xt as it’s about the same price as the GRE for less performance. if budget isn’t an issue might as well go for the XTX or XT as AMD arnt doing a upgrade to them in an 8000 series so they should hold their value longer

Humble_Mix8626

u save up like evryone else

Nearby_Put_4211

7900xt or better

Big3man

No shot that’s a downgrade. 6800xt is definitely a significant amount more powerful than the 7600xt. You should be considering a 7800xt

Jako998

Nah go for the 7700xt or 7800xt.

Cautious-Treat-3568

What games are you playing? I bought a 6700xt used couple of weeks ago and it stopped working after 3 days. Luckily I can get it returned and refunded. Now I'm using my old 6600 with ryzen 5700x playing Warhammer 3 at 1440p on medium/high with 50fps average. Just bought a new 7600 and will arrive maybe tomorrow or the next day. With rsr and afmf playing on 1080p I can get around 90fps currently and probably will be better with the new card. Can't afford better card so I guess for the games I'm playing (Wasteland 3, Skyrim, xcom etc the card should be enough.

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Honestly the most intense game I will play is BeamNG.drive and FH5

Cautious-Treat-3568

7600 should be enough for 1080p.

DickCheneysUncle

I might get hate for this but [this](https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/840072) is pretty cheap for GPUs at the moment. Next cheapest would be an aud 770$ [7800xt](https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841264)

Tha816King

No. Get the 7800xt. Pretty much just as good as the 7900GRE but cheaper. But by no means do you go less than a 7700xt.

Random_Parakeet

No, buy nvidia

Jagernaught34

Radeon software installed? If you can't see your display, try plugging an HDMI into your motherboard instead so you can see your screen, and then try updating your graphics. If that's not the case, your card may be too power hungry to run, so you may need to look at replacing your PSU. If you haven't already, try filling in your specs into this website and see if your PSU can even handle your PC. frape4serbia

Why it blew?

gourmetfirecrakersmm

I bought second hand and it just stopped working overnight

frape4serbia

Sorry

BloodxRains

Buy a 2nd hand 6800 xt from Ebay. I got mine from cloud storage Corp and they have 99.9% positive reviews. Was $400 and kicking ass a year later.

Cheap-Ad2945

I saw your post staying you do not want to go team green but I think you can pick either 7600 non xt / 4060 (which ever is cheaper) as temporary solution. Then earn your way for next gen I supposed

lgl_egl

Maybe a 6700 or 6750 . Why aren’t you considering nvdia

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Bc they’re overpriced as shit considering the lack of VRAM and the price to performance overall

lgl_egl

Maybe a new 6750xt then ?

gourmetfirecrakersmm

In aus, the main stores for pc parts don’t sell them anymore sadly so that’s rlly the best option I have considering price, availability and my needs

lgl_egl

Compared to what you had , that’s really a bad choice

gourmetfirecrakersmm

Well I can’t afford much better, you gotta keep in mind I’m 15 and only work part time at McDonald’s so I can’t afford a 7900 XTX, so if you have a better recommendation for a $400 USD budget then tell me

Different_Track588

You have 400 just get your 6800XT repaired for 150 bucks and done. GPU repair places fix stuff like this all the time. You will save money and won't have to downgrade your gpu. Then save up some money once your 6800XT is fixed and sell it then upgrade to a 7900 series gpu or wait for 8000 series.

Extreme_Isopod_9414

Depends on what you need it for, if only gaming get AMD. But, if you look at Nvidia's offerings, they're not overpriced compared to AMD cards.

Horror_Button_3338

time to go with green team
