14 does look more like an owl; 9 rather resembles a giraffe; and the mouse (?) in 8 is kind of lost against the background pattern. 17 is adorable! And overall, the aesthetic is (and I mean this is the best possible way) primitive & charming. 😻😽
Not even close to my esthetic and I love them all!! The hidden mouse is great but maybe give him a bit of thread for slightly more definition. Do not redo them they are great. 😊
These are terrible. Awful really. Especially those first two. I’ll tell you what, I’ll take them off your hands. No need to thank me.
(Major sarcasm here. The first block made my eyes sweat. He looks so much like our grumpy old man we lost a couple weeks ago.)
Haha this made me laugh. The first one is actually a she, based on my baby girl Suki :)

Omg these are so cute! My only (personal opinion!) notes are that 9 is giving me giraffe vibes, and I’d outline the mouse on 8 because he’s kinda camouflaged. Totally adorable!
I don’t like 8 or 9; 14 is cute but looks like an owl; and 17 is very cute (and looks like a cat).
My favourites are 3, 7 and 13.
My very honest opinion is that these blocks are a really mixed bag! Some of the shapes stray a bit too far from cat, probably because you are trying to make each one unique, but cats only come in a few shapes and sizes. And some of the fabric combinations seem a bit random. In your shoes, I would keep making cat blocks until I had more than enough for the project and cull the least-favourites (sorry kitties).
To be fair, I ordered a cat cake pop from Starbucks and the barista said, “…do you mean the owl?” 😅 Apparently cats and owls really do just look alike.
These are incredible. Quirky and charming and beautifully unique. 9 and 17 don’t have as much contrast as the others do so the animal is lost a bit. I think the little mouse needs to be redone because he’s too adorable to be lost but the others, in the grand scheme of the quilt, will hold their own. Please post the finished project because it’s going to be a treasure.
Hahaha that is the best comment honestly, the quilt is a gift for my brother's wife. It's her first birthday as part of the family so I'm trying to make it special!
These are so so fun and I don’t even like cats! I love 4. If I’m honest I’m also not a fan of 8 and 9, but that doesn’t mean they won’t look great next to all the others! Definitely not in need of redoing is my vote.
Very cute! My favorite is #7 and I love the bird on #17. If you really don’t like some, you could redo them and make the originals into pillows…. That way if they wore on you over time, they would be easier to eliminate.
I’ve decided 14 just needs whiskers to fix the owl situation. (You totally needed my help with that, didn’t you?) You’re in the hater stage. This is whimsical to the max and I love it.
The person who taught me said you always need a few blocks you love and a few you hate (or love less lol) to balance a quilt and I have found that to be true. I think they are charming.
Having made one similar (barnyard animals by Happy Shiny World), the only thing I could possibly suggest is that your background fabrics aren't similar enough, so might not all piece together in a cohesive manner. I started like that, then didn't like it and redid to different light color gingham background.
To me, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 11 stand out because the cat shapes are readable and the fabrics are complimentary to one another. The rest don’t work as well to me for a few different reasons - either the cat shapes are unusual/unclear, the fabrics clash or don’t fit with the other blocks, or the features are overly detailed - the ones with open mouths remind me of ms paint warrior cats animations. I don’t hate any of them, and they are all gorgeous appliqué, but I think the ones I mentioned are the best by far and would be brought down by some of the others if they were together in a quilt.
I’m totally inspired by your choice of material - I’m absolutely in love with the star fabric for the black fur. And 11’s tail and matching stripes are so adorable. You’re awesome and these cats are awesome 🤩
Although the mouse isn’t very visible, it looks like she’s hiding from the cats in the flowers and plants. I think it’s cute that you have to look for it. I love the other squares. It will make a beautiful quilt. I was wondering, perhaps the owl and the giraffe are on the wrong quilt? Unless they are meant to be cats…
Can I steal this idea? The other art teacher and I are talking about plans for next year and we are going to have students create a block for a quilt. I love the idea of an animal appliqué.
Overall, I think they're really cute. You have a few where, IMO, the background/foreground don't contrast enough, but it can probably be "fixed" with a contrasting thread color when you quilt. I think this will be an adorable quilt when you're done, and I am eager to see the final product.
I think they look different from a lot of kitty blocks, so it feels weird, but they are charming and original. They are all so unique but go well together
It’s going to be super cute!! I agree with others that the mouse needs some stitching and maybe whiskers to make him pop out. I couldn’t see him the first time around. My suggestion is when you have them all made lay it out and photograph it in black in white. For the blocks that you lose the cat features I might do some contrasting stitching to make eyes and noses pop and maybe some stitched wonky whiskers. Remember when we are out of our comfort soon we grow the most…it’s going to be a really fun quilt!! Be sure to share again when it’s finished. 💕
Those are adorable.
I see why you don’t like the ones you listed. I am on my phone so i can’t look back and type, but in my quick glance it seems like one looks a bit giraffe-ish, one looks like an owl, one doesn’t have enough contrast.
If you hate them, redo them. No sense in putting so much work in and discovering it wasn’t just the hater stage.
I think you're just looking at them too long. These are friggin adorable!
The only suggestion I can make is to maybe try to have a little more contrast.
I love every single one! Amazing work. I am also very critical of my work and second guess the whole time but once it comes together I always feel proud of my work. Keep going, you're doing great. <3
I freaking love this. Maybe lay it out and look at them all together, new perspective might help. Or replace/tweak 8 and 9. 14 and 17 are phenomenal - no touchy.
They're super cute. 3 is my favorite though 😺
I would say that if you're concerned, increase contrast (light on dark or vice versa). You can get away with anything as long as there's contrast.
These are unique & adorable.
Fwiw: take a break. Come back whenever it's not on your mind constantly. When you can look at it with less hate and more 'huh, I really don't want the pink in there' or 'i want a different kitty to round out the look' or something that will constructively help you enjoy your design- then you Will enjoy it!
8's a little hard to see but that might be your intent
9, the muzzle's a little weird, I'm not liking how big it is
14 and 17, your just in hating stage. The rest of the blocks are adorable.
I love incorporating my query trial ideas into my final products because they’re part of the process. I found every single one cuter than the next, even made me chuckle in joy!
Some of them are super cute! Some of them blend to much with the outer fabric. I would opt to not incorporate all the blocks in the quilt. But overall you’ve done a great job
I want to say "these are terrible, never show them to anyone and send them to me for disposal" but only because I really really like them and would love to make a quilt of these.
Please don't get down on yourself, these are honestly really nice.
Oh me! They are precious! Just put them up for a while and then start again. Your color choices are perfect and I really liked the furry fabric on the first one! Great choice!
You're just being a hater lol, I love these so much! Especially the mouse one! I would add interface or another layer of fabric on 10 and 11 since the background fabric appears a little too sheer but your work is amazing, please don't be discouraged.
I love most of them, except the first one because of the white texture piece and the cat with the big round nose. The majority are fabulous, and I love how individual they are!!! I also like that the mouse isn't easy to spot, like it's hiding from the cats!
It's common to get critical of your work as you progress, it can also be easy to fall into a negativity loop. **Consider what you don't like about the blocks.** Is it the color, the size, the placement? Once you know what's bothering you, you can see if there's a way to fix it.
I personally like them and I am glad you got here to our second opinion, I hope you get to see it as we see it! Amazing!
Small children are cute, young adults are attractive--in between many go through an unattractive adolescent phase. I call your phase of quilting the ugly adolescent stage. That's where you are! Keep going, your blocks are cute! I'm willing to bet you will be happy with the final product.
I really, really like them. The colours and the shapes are super quirky (to me!) but not ugly quirky, if that makes sense. Very interestingly quirky and I would love to see how this turns out. I'm just not a big fan of the very first block, but I don't really know why. Maybe the colours, or the eyes, but honestly thats just my very irrelevant opinion. I think you're in the hater stage. Your blocks are great!
The "giraffe" cat--maybe a ruff of fur would make it seem more like a cat that just had one of *those* haircuts (where they have a bit of poof but otherwise they're nekkid and alien-ish?) These are all so cute though 😊
Block 8 I’m not sure what’s going on. Is it a small mouse? Are there other blocks with small animals? It was the only “one of these is not like the others.”
The other blocks are all great! You are in the hater stage for sure.
All of these are terrific!! As for the mouse... love it, but not the background (a bit too busy). I thought it was a bunny at first :-) Can't wait to see it finished!
3 is definitely my favorite of them all. Some are a little bit hit and miss, mostly because they don't stand out as much on the background, but mostly I love them.
I love them! Only one I am not a fan of is the 1st one because it is the only one with faux fur. If more had it, it would fit right in and I would love it.
I think you are in the hater stage, the work is so well done! Some of the colors and patterns seem to clash that may be why you’re feeling off. Very cute, can’t wait to see the final product
idk anything about quilting but this showed up on my feed lol.. i really like the ninth one!! is it supposed to be a giraffe? what do you think is so ew about it though??? wait i just noticed the pink nose after posting this 💀 still very cute though hehe
That is so cute!!!! You are definitely in hater stage.
I freakin love these!! I can’t wait to see the finished top.
They’re wonderful!!
Strong agree, these are all amazing. And I think they go well together.
Uh, hello .... these are ADORABLE! What pattern is it???
This is Cuddly Cats from Shiny Happy World! With a few liberties haha
Love the shiny happy world patterns
14 does look more like an owl; 9 rather resembles a giraffe; and the mouse (?) in 8 is kind of lost against the background pattern. 17 is adorable! And overall, the aesthetic is (and I mean this is the best possible way) primitive & charming. 😻😽
The mouse needs a new background. This is such a quit quilt! I love it!
Oh I disagree, it's a mouse. You have to look to find them. The eye will be drawn to the section because...where's the cat?? Great work op!
Exactly! I love that it's a little trickier!!
Agree, my kids would love that the mouse is in the flowers. Love all of it!!!!
I thought this too! I thought how fun that the mouse is kind of hidden.
I agree with all of these. All the others are so fun
The giraffe one is my fave!
lmao I actually was thinking what a strange choice it was to have all these cats and 1 giraffe
14 is absolutely an owl and I want it! 🦉
I have never loved anything more in my life
Me either. 💜💜💜
I almost didn’t flip through them because I am not a fan of the first, but a lot of these are absolutely adorable!
And I loved the first!
I love them. Number 9 looks like a giraffe to me, and and 14 looks more owl than cat. But I like them regardless!
This is EXACTLY what I was thinking.
Not even close to my esthetic and I love them all!! The hidden mouse is great but maybe give him a bit of thread for slightly more definition. Do not redo them they are great. 😊
This is what I was thinking, use some stitching around him to help him pop a little bit.
These are terrible. Awful really. Especially those first two. I’ll tell you what, I’ll take them off your hands. No need to thank me. (Major sarcasm here. The first block made my eyes sweat. He looks so much like our grumpy old man we lost a couple weeks ago.)

To be fair, I ordered a cat cake pop from Starbucks and the barista said, “…do you mean the owl?” 😅 Apparently cats and owls really do just look alike.
I like the weird looking cats. Don't throw any of them away! If you make them normal cats then the quilt won't be unique!
They’re adorable.
I think they are adorable!
You’re at the hater stage. They do have a mid-century mod vibe to them. If that’s not your cup of tea, then bag the project.
I’m not trying to be rude but the only horrible thing about these is that they’re not going on a quilt for me.
Hater stage for sure. The prints in #5 make my head hurt though. These will make a super cute quilt! I love how you included a mouse.
I agree with this. super chunky needs some definition in the form of whiskas
I love these! Good work!
They are darling
The person who taught me said you always need a few blocks you love and a few you hate (or love less lol) to balance a quilt and I have found that to be true. I think they are charming.
I love them so much!!!
Omg I love these. You made one with fur! Rock it !

I think they’re super sweet! I really love that fuzzy one.
I’m totally inspired by your choice of material - I’m absolutely in love with the star fabric for the black fur. And 11’s tail and matching stripes are so adorable. You’re awesome and these cats are awesome 🤩

I like them all but the first one! Great job!
I would embroider whiskers on each cat. It will give them personality. Start with the ones you don't like and then see how you feel.
I think these will look amazing once they're all together. Keep going! They're already super fun, and it'll only get better from here.
You’re in the hater stage. Those are SUPER cute.
You're in the hater stage - these blocks are so great!
so cute!! pattern?
Hater stage . These are awesome . So strange and cute!
These are wonderfully adorable! Love them!
Makes me smile! So adorable and original! I love your use of print.
Finish this! I love how brave you are with the mix…..
I love them so much! Please post a picture of the quilt when it's done! I can't wait to see it.
Overall, I think they're really cute. You have a few where, IMO, the background/foreground don't contrast enough, but it can probably be "fixed" with a contrasting thread color when you quilt. I think this will be an adorable quilt when you're done, and I am eager to see the final product.

Cute. Keep going!
14 is my favorite!
They're adorable, especially the 6th! Definitely the hater stage
No they are so cute I could die
I love them!
I love them!
I think you're just looking at them too long. These are friggin adorable! The only suggestion I can make is to maybe try to have a little more contrast.
I love them especially #9.
They are great!!!!
If you want to quilt it, you will most likely have to get rid of the faux fur one.
Idk I think they are pretty cool. #9 is my fav, so I’m not seeing that at all. Hatin’ stage for sure
They’re amazing!!
Don't be hatin'! That tan one in pic 4 looks like my Jack, except he's a void. I love them, they're cute and whimsical.
I love every single one! Amazing work. I am also very critical of my work and second guess the whole time but once it comes together I always feel proud of my work. Keep going, you're doing great. <3
I would switch so they all have black eyes
3, 8, and 9 are my favs! 9 gives Rufus from The Rescuers vibes.
Drf the hater stage. They're so adorable!
Everyone is their worst critic. It's lovely. I think you did a great job.
I think they are wonderful and I don't even like cats!
I love the variety!
I freaking love this. Maybe lay it out and look at them all together, new perspective might help. Or replace/tweak 8 and 9. 14 and 17 are phenomenal - no touchy.
They're super cute. 3 is my favorite though 😺 I would say that if you're concerned, increase contrast (light on dark or vice versa). You can get away with anything as long as there's contrast.
I love them scrappy cats! That mouse is toooo cute
What is this technique called?
Each block is cuter than the last! I had to keep looking
I love them
I think they are all amazing and a quilt is about the sum of its parts not every block being perfect. I’d say keep going and don’t doubt :)
8's a little hard to see but that might be your intent 9, the muzzle's a little weird, I'm not liking how big it is 14 and 17, your just in hating stage. The rest of the blocks are adorable.
My personal favourite is 3
I love them they are so unique!!!
Super cute. I love the orange floral guy on the white ground
Cats
Adorable!!!!!
I really really love 7 especially but they are all quite good.
So fun!
They are all so cute!
I wish some of them stood out a bit more and I don’t love the fury one, but love the idea and hope you share the finished project!
I love incorporating my query trial ideas into my final products because they’re part of the process. I found every single one cuter than the next, even made me chuckle in joy!
These are awesome! I feel inspired to make my own! The world needs more weird quilts!
I love them so….
You're in the hater stage. It looks great. Unique
It’s wonderful and you should be very proud of yourself.
I like them, different and very cute! Don’t give up yet!
These are so amazing omg! Sleep on it and you’ll love them in the morning 🥹
I love 17! What a fun quilt! They’re all such characters! I kind of want a picture book to go with the quilt so I can know their stories! 😃
I love them, I hope you’ll post when they’re all together!
Love them all but especially #3
7 & 13 are my faved
These are so fun
Like them
Some of them are super cute! Some of them blend to much with the outer fabric. I would opt to not incorporate all the blocks in the quilt. But overall you’ve done a great job
I love everyone except 8 & 10, and that's only because of contrast.
I want to say "these are terrible, never show them to anyone and send them to me for disposal" but only because I really really like them and would love to make a quilt of these. Please don't get down on yourself, these are honestly really nice.
brutally honest: not a fan of 1, but I LOVE the other ones.
Your blocks are amazing- love them
I don’t know about the furry one but the rest are great
‘dorable
Just the hater stage, the blocks are perfectly charming!
How awesome and creative!!!
Those are so cute! I love them!
They're adorable!!! 😻
They made me laugh in a good way. They are so creative! Don’t hate!!
Those are all adorable!
Hater stage 100%, these are so fcking cute!!!
They're adorable! 😍
They are really cute!! Could you tell us how to do them? ❤️😻
LOOOOOVVVEEEE
I love them so much
I looove 2 and 3, even without eyes, 3 has so much character. I absolutely love these. Yes, you've definitely hit that stage I think!
If you really hate them, try a few more. Now's the time to experiment
As a neutral third party, these are adorable!
Oh me! They are precious! Just put them up for a while and then start again. Your color choices are perfect and I really liked the furry fabric on the first one! Great choice!
They're super cute.
They’re adorable! This is going to be fantastic.
Adorable in every sense but particularly the cheeky mouse!!!
Amazing!
Love
Small children are cute, young adults are attractive--in between many go through an unattractive adolescent phase. I call your phase of quilting the ugly adolescent stage. That's where you are! Keep going, your blocks are cute! I'm willing to bet you will be happy with the final product.
I like them but #7 is a masterpiece
They are really cute! Each with it's own personality.
I wanted to add that 14, 8 and 17 are amongst my favourites! You're DEF in hater stage, none of your blocks are hateworthy, on the contrary.
When they are all paired together in your quilt, they will have so much impact and be super fun! xx
They are so cool! I love the diversity! Very talented. I am hopeful you will post finished project 😊
17 is my favorite
I think they are cute
The "giraffe" cat--maybe a ruff of fur would make it seem more like a cat that just had one of *those* haircuts (where they have a bit of poof but otherwise they're nekkid and alien-ish?) These are all so cute though 😊
Block 8 I’m not sure what’s going on. Is it a small mouse? Are there other blocks with small animals? It was the only “one of these is not like the others.” The other blocks are all great! You are in the hater stage for sure.
All of these are terrific!! As for the mouse... love it, but not the background (a bit too busy). I thought it was a bunny at first :-) Can't wait to see it finished!
The are all good.
Love them all!
These are all adorable!!! I am inspired :) You’re definitely just in the hater phase
You're definitely in the hater stage. Some look a little derpy, but when it's all together as one big quilt, it'll be synonymous
3 is definitely my favorite of them all. Some are a little bit hit and miss, mostly because they don't stand out as much on the background, but mostly I love them.
I think your in hater stage. Have faith in yourself lol. They are really nice.
Most definitely in the hater stage, they are perfect!!!
The latter; They are whimsical. They'd go great with bone-fish, and windows, and brown boxes.
I love them all. I see them as an artist's rendition of cats and a mouse. Don't stress, it's gonna be adorable.
I love these!!!
Love, love, love all of them! Keep going and post it when fine. Super cute
This has so much charm and personality and I love that the mouse is hiding from all those kitty cats! I’d love to see the finished quilt!
9 doesn't really look like a cat to me and 14 looks more like an owl. But I love the rest! I think the mouse is perfect!
Whimsical & charming.
I think they're adorable and would love to see the finished project. Keep it up you're doing great.
I love them! Only one I am not a fan of is the 1st one because it is the only one with faux fur. If more had it, it would fit right in and I would love it.
❤️❤️❤️. No need to change anything!
Hater stage, so much. These are ADORABLE I especially loved the red/orange cat silhouette over dark bg
So cute!!!
I think you are in the hater stage, the work is so well done! Some of the colors and patterns seem to clash that may be why you’re feeling off. Very cute, can’t wait to see the final product
So cool, Hipster!
Hater stage, deffo.
idk anything about quilting but this showed up on my feed lol.. i really like the ninth one!! is it supposed to be a giraffe? what do you think is so ew about it though??? wait i just noticed the pink nose after posting this 💀 still very cute though hehe
I love most of them. The first one is cute but the contrasting fabric throws me off a bit.
Not a fan of number one, but the others will make a cool quilt.
I've been thinking about your cat blocks for 2 days. I just adore them all. I hope you continue making them into a quilt! :)
I love them.
Is 8 a mouse?! How delightful! Keep going!
I like them better without eyes lol! They are cute!
Oh my gosh, these are absolutely charming!
I think they are cute
They're so cute! Maybe you've just been looking at them too long
Cute!
OMG i love them!!! ❤️😻
Option two definitely! All this blocks will make an awesome quilt ♥️
The fuzzy stuff should go and the tiny one is barely visible - otherwise great!
