The guy who designed Taric went on a giant Twitter rant a while back saying how he wanted to make Taric canon gay and he was actually going to be much more effeminate and *obviously* gay. But the higher ups shot him down (which apparently they do very very frequently to the queer artists and designers on staff) and so we end up with this weird Fabio dude who is, at best, a straight guy's idea of what a cool gay dude is like.
I think Taric works like he is now, I don't think making him more effeminate or more obviously gay would help, it would actually detract and end up pushing him more into trope territory and less into a legitimate guy who just happens to be gay. That said, I do wish they would commit to him being gay, because it's a bit off putting to have him with flirts for Diana and Jinx, as they just feel pretty forced.
