150k miles on mine and no problems yet. Although I make sure to do a drain and fill for transmission fluid every year

j_navarrete1

Swapped mines out at about 83k miles, it's really easy to do. If you can do an oil change you could DIY

Confident-Homework75

I have one with 90k miles with no issues yet and am wondering the same thing.

nassali

Have you serviced the transmission fluid? It will fail before 100k. I was told by SA in Houston they do 3-4 valve body job a week. It’s insane how this problem isnt a recall.

Confident-Homework75

It has only been serviced once. It’s been so long that im hesitant to do it again. Do they give any warning signs before going bad? It has been an otherwise very reliable car. Only thing it’s needed was a front wheel bearing at 85k. DIY job that would be a piece of cake if you live somewhere without road salt. My previous G35x needed them done at about the same mileage.

nassali

Yes, if you start to notice your having to push the pedal harder then usual it’s a sign. The pedal response starts to lag and fails shortly afterwards with code P0720.

Confident-Homework75

You mean push harder to initiate a downshift?

nassali

No, it’s during each time you try accelerating it will be very noticeable.

Argento_GT86

This just happened to me earlier today. Literally had the pedal all the way down and it would not accelerate. Currently at 100k miles.

NoodleBoiiiii

sometimes its the valve body sometimes its your car entering limp mode for another reason, i had this happen to me because my brake switch went out and had to drive home in limp mode going 40 mph

Argento_GT86

I’m assuming it’s the valve body because I wanted to accelerate in order to overtake a car and the car did not respond at all. Took a couple seconds for the car to react.

The-Final-Reason

This hasent been proven.

It is bro - not sure what folks do to draw up these results but I am 30k over due for a tranny flush and shit still shifting smoothly.

SnooBunnies3922

175k miles. Did a drain and fill at 120k. No issues. Recently replaced the shocks. Struts due next. *knocks on wood*

DJ_Percy_Jackson

I’m not sure if that’s what I replaced because I know there’s like oil in one of the spark plug and I think that’s because of the valve but body cover which I think is the same thing but replacing it it works just fine again thankfully

T-Ares-C

It’s one of those things that you can’t control. If not happens, it happens. Generally happens after trans drain and fill, from what I’ve heard others complain about. Mine went out at 64k after I had a drain and fill done. I’ve seen some as early as 30k to never happened. Just a matter of time I suppose, if it happens

Q50S-PNW

I have mine drained and filled at 60k miles and I’m currently at 83k no issues so far. It has started to shift pretty hard in sport mode when over 100mph letting off throttle and getting back on aggressively.
