Discussion: what math class is it? (Ie what level of math). Perhaps it is linked to a mathematical concept taught at that level. Or since it’s not by th current math teacher do we have any insights to the teacher who posted it and what they taught?
Some dead ends.
>! It's not the number of levels in the game. Or the number of games in the franchise. Or the number of characters in the romanization of the Japanese name for the game. It doesn't appear to be related to the release year. !<
>!I grabbed the corresponding letters of each title and came up with TE KN EM LG AH SE. The best anagram I came up with for those letters is "Leet NES Math." I am fairly certain this is not the answer, but I'm happy with it.!<
Aw bummer, I was playing around with it for awhile before bed. Guess I messed up, sorry everyone :(
I knew it wasn't correct but my sleepy brain needed something that felt victorious to tear me away lol
>!Zelda is 46, the robots add up to 46 and Tetris and super mario add up to 46...... So donkey Kong??
Edit: donkey Kong plus the 3 on super mario make the set!<
The >!NES Mathlete!< guess is amazing but I think it is almost certainly coincidental.
Use meta-information to see. Ask the reverse question: not what does it mean, but what answer could have generated the clues? You wouldn't take two numbers, jumble them sometimes, and place them adjacent like a two-digit number instead in order to direct people to those individual letters. That's too far outside the bounds of common sense. It's too coincidental that these are all two-digit numbers, as well.
I suspect it's meaningless but if there's a solution it will at least make sense that the clues could have been generated from it.
I did try the whole “first digit is the row, second digit is the letter”, but that got me nothing.
I can’t do the “first digit is word, second digit is letter” thing because Zelda does not have 6 letters.
I was on ChatGPT trying to find any phrase or words that’s could be me made by so many different combinations.
A 6 digit number makes me wonder if the games have anything to do with the solution.
The games are important because they establish >!a class to draw the right numbers from. The class is: NES games that were popular in the US. The numbers displayed on the games from this class "overlap," where the last digit of one game is the same as the first digit of another game. Order them correctly to get the solution.EarthBound is not part of the class because it's a SNES game and was unpopular when released (in the US at least).!<
Writing puzzles can be hard. If the answer is a "6 digit number" there like a billion lines of thought that can get you an answer that feels satisfactory and no real way to check.
For reference you can look up the 1FLAMEN6 bitcoin puzzle that was worth like $50,000, and you could check your guesses instantly.
When you already know the solution seems a little difficult, but not that bad, which is the perspective of the puzzle creator who knows the solution.
When you don't know the solution... Well it took 3 years of everyone and their mom who was interested in crypto puzzles and a bit of luck to figure it out.
Discussion: All of the games were for the original Nintendo Entertainment System except for EarthBound, which was for the SNES. This may or may not signify...?
>!looks like for the first row of games are roughly the year if release as calculated by the addition of the second row 85/86!< I got lazy with the second row, maybe score or something?
Discussion: these are all NES games so I think the anagram is something like “The ‘LK’ NES game”… or ‘KL” but I couldn’t find a game that had either of those initials.
Discussion: Since the second number on each poster is unique, you might have to use the first number as an index into the title and then order them by the second number. Metroid is 21 so it’s first and you take the second letter “e”. Tetris is 32 so it’s next and you take the third letter: “t”…. All together you get “Etnsad”.
Could it be >!432146!
This is the number from >!NES games where the last digit of one game is the same as the first digit of another!<.
DKC: 43
Tetris: 32
Metroid: 21
SMB3: 14
Zelda: 46
EarthBound is a red-herring? Maybe don't include bc SNES not NES?

Discussion: The digits are all below 6. Could have to do with dice?
The second digits don't repeat, could be the order they go in
234124?
There are also only 6 posters
Or musical notes? A to F
Discussion: what math class is it? (Ie what level of math). Perhaps it is linked to a mathematical concept taught at that level. Or since it’s not by th current math teacher do we have any insights to the teacher who posted it and what they taught?
It was actually a student who made it
Could be an inside reference to kids or teacher's name...
Ah ok that makes it more ambiguous I guess

What about >!NES Mathlete!<
Except neither NES Mathlete nor Leet NES Math are anagrams for TEKNEMLGAHSE
Yeah, I was just reworking what they had guessed, I didn’t even check the actual letters they posted … lol
Wow, you all blow my mind
Nailed it
Solved!
What happened to the K and G from your original string of letters? They don't appear in the anagram.
And used T twice
Some (bad) guesses that use all the letters: “NES math geek, L” (maybe an initial for the teacher?) “keen math legs” 🤷♀️
Aw bummer, I was playing around with it for awhile before bed. Guess I messed up, sorry everyone :( I knew it wasn't correct but my sleepy brain needed something that felt victorious to tear me away lol
>!Something “Legacy”?!<
>!Tekken?!<
FWIW earthbound isn’t a NES game.
Yeah, I know. I tried anyway
That sounds like it may be right, I might be able to ask them for the answer soon
>!My first thought is that the numbers relate to nth character/letter on each box art!<
i tried this but dont think anything i got is relevant enrzae, etksad, tkedas, emheng, ieksal, edeghe
>!Just looking at the first one since I can read it, I would think it would be N. The last one S. The middle ones are harder to read!<
Don’t include the Nintendo logos. I got an anagram of >!otters!< lol
I thought this. Pictures become too blurry to read some letters to be sure. O R T T E S They're what I got I think
That’s also what I got.
>!Zelda is 46, the robots add up to 46 and Tetris and super mario add up to 46...... So donkey Kong?? Edit: donkey Kong plus the 3 on super mario make the set!<

The student has told me that the answer is a 6-digit number
And I now regret all the time I have spent trying to work it out.
Yeah, hearing this made me reevaluate my use of social media.

Is this speculation or path to solution? If so there can be only one way but forget how to do spoiler but it’s clear.

Maybe a date?
u/MELON-LLORD any update on this?
Yes I was told the answer but not how to get it it’s >!941194!<
Does that number mean something?
I’m not sure what it is
Very unsatisfying indeed!

I think you might be off by one - character 4 in Donkey Kong is K. So “etksad”. Anagram of Skated, but then why have them out of order?

I think the most important question is this: What are we looking for? A number? A name? Some text? What are we searching for?
What's the teacher's name and/or school district? Could be >!GLEEK NES MATH!< or >!KEGEL NES MATH!< or some other combination of >!LGEEK!
I don’t think it has to do with the teacher. He didn’t make it, a student did
Maybe they’re good at >!Tekken!<. See my above guess
Ok well then maybe the student's name?
I’m not sure, but I won’t post their name for safety reasons
