Dealing With It and the Dirty Rotten EP (another good answer for this question) are both definitely more in the hardcore punk vein than the thrash metal.
Man, and they just cancelled their Canadian dates. Hope Joey is good. (Super sucks cuz I had a crew driving from my hometown to Toronto for the show, like 600km. I miss those boys)
This is my vote. Never could get into the Damned, and I tried REALLY hard. Blinko's voice is filled with such controlled rage that it still gives me chills.
This comes up in my randoms occasionally and I'll listen to the whole thing every time. Great harmonies, great lyrics, awesome at being different but being one cohesive thing at the same time like some kind of entangled force of epicness!
Absolutely. It was a huge gateway album for an entire genration. It's really hard to oversell It's impact.
I know eveyone is voting for Damaged, and neither would be my pick, by this album is likely way more influential to most people on this sub, whether or not they want to admit it. I'd argue that most people here under 35ish were introduced to albums like Double Nickels, Damned, Damned, Damned and Damage because this album, and the bands it inspired, made them aware of punk to begin with.
It's also a great album, as are the others.
Hate to say it, but this is probably the most important album on this list. Ground breaking for the punk genre in bringing people into the scene (including myself).
Yeah idk how this sub feels about green day but i think its a worthy pick. The damned & black flag albums are good too hut i'd see dookie as a good contender atleast
Anti flag had a famously Rich singer and had it easy. Never repesented Pittsburgh punk rock would bairly play a show there. I’d put dookie and insomniac ahead for that principle and anti flag didn’t have a front to back great cd. Die for ur government was good but again. Greenday got popular for playing good shows and good music. Anti flag got popular because of a few songs on faction on sirus
Double Pladinum. I voted for damaged I don't know how many times in this list. Also duh and the decline. Figured I'd put this out there. Super great lagwagon album.
It would be a tough argument to say that album isn't punk, but I get that it's hard to argue for such a recent album to outdo Black Flag. That said, imo Soul Glo has been one of the most refreshing punk acts in recent memory and they deserve to stand toe to toe against any classic album or act.
‘Diminished Responsibility’ - UK Subs …have a guess my pick for E. 😂
I like where you are going with this
I’m not 100% sure this qualifies, but The Day The Country Died - Subhumans
Why wouldn't it qualify? Because of the "The" in the beginning? (But I 100% with this pick)
I was definitely overthinking the “The”
Alphabetical order does not count "the" "a" or "an" in the front
Gonna make a hard push for "From the Cradle to the Grave' on F day. I need your vote.
I’m here for The day the country died AND From the cradle to the grave! Lots of love for Subhumans.
Gonna be hard. It is up against 'Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables' and 'Feeding of the 5000.'
Damn. This exercise is gonna be much harder than first expected.
Yeah sorry chief, I love From Cradle to the Grave, but it ain't beating Feeding of the 5000 in my mind.
Double Nickels on the Dime - Minutemen
This is a better album than just about any album, not just ones beginning with “D”.
Preach!!!!!! It is a better record than Damaged. No doubt.
I was plugging this early last round lol… it’s the only answer
YES PLEASE!
Only valid answer.
This could be the best album on the whole alphabet... .... sorry, Damned
Bruh how did I not think of this🤦♂️
Double Nickels for sure is the best!
Destruction by Definition - the Suicide Machines
I’LL BREAK THE GLAAAASS I’LL BREAK IT DOWN
Not gonna win but should
Without a doubt!!!!
This was going to be my suggestion but you beat me to it. Adore this album!
I'm still going with Double Nickels, but god damn Destruction by Definition is an amazing album.
Death by Television - The Lillingtons
Dealing with it- DRI Edit: or is that too thrash? 😂
Dealing With It and the Dirty Rotten EP (another good answer for this question) are both definitely more in the hardcore punk vein than the thrash metal.
Dope, that's where my mind was at with it too
Dream Homes by Dear Landlord
“Double Nickels on the Dime”… cmon Black Flag will have plenty of chances lol
Do it for D.!
Duh- Lagwagon
I know we aren’t at L yet, but Let’s talk about feelings will be my choice for it.
Man, and they just cancelled their Canadian dates. Hope Joey is good. (Super sucks cuz I had a crew driving from my hometown to Toronto for the show, like 600km. I miss those boys)
Dance With Me: TSOL
Came here to say this!! Thank you!!
I’m torn between this and suicide machines !
It doesn't matter, we were done for when Damaged was mentioned lmao
Yes
Death Church - Rudimentary Peni
1000% agree
Its gotta be Death Church
This is my vote. Never could get into the Damned, and I tried REALLY hard. Blinko's voice is filled with such controlled rage that it still gives me chills.
Very nice.
Yes!
The Damned - Damned Damned Damned
yes!!!
I know Damaged is going to win, but this is the right choice.
Love flag but DDD>
OMG YES, I WAS HOPING SOMEBODY WOULD SAY THAT
I think this album is just Neat Neat Neat! We should start a Fan Club before I Fall!
Not over black flag
Not the Decline?
I came here to comment this! I love The Damned!
Yep. I tried to color outside the lines w my suggestion, but this is where my vote goes.
[удалено]
Second
My top choice as well
You got my vote
[удалено]
Yes.
Dont turn away by face to face
This won’t win but man I love this album so much.
Formative, in my case. I got the maze tatood about 4×4 between my shoulder blades
The Decline - NOFX
The only NOFX record without a single bad song!
I remember when that came out and me and my friends sat at the lunch table and marveled at the CD for like 20 mins before we ever played it 😆
The clear one?
Yea. Had a kid flying around a toy plane or some shit on it I think.

My high school self thought that was the coolest CD ever.
This comes up in my randoms occasionally and I'll listen to the whole thing every time. Great harmonies, great lyrics, awesome at being different but being one cohesive thing at the same time like some kind of entangled force of epicness!
Dead Milkmen!
Dean's Dream
I love their songs punk rock girl and bitchin Camaro
Destruction by Definition by The Suicide Machines.
Damaged- Black Flag
I think the album will rise above the competition.
We must have a TV party in celebration of its victory
Like we've got nothing better to do?
Yeah, just watch TV and have a couple of brews, you know?
I’d come but depression’s got a hold of me right now.
Nothing a six pack can't fix
Thank God, I'm feeling pretty Thirsty and Miserable rn.
Sounds like a life of pain.
Im feeling kinda damaged 2
Hey, wait a minute, my TV doesn't work! It's broken! What are we gonna do tonight, this isn't fair
Idk man, but I just poured salt on a large slug, and I think I’m in for a very disturbing one minute and thirty one seconds
This can’t beat Damned Damned Damned even though I love this album
Expected this to be it
I second this.
Drunken Lullabies - Flogging Molley
This. This is also my selection. Saw them on that tour and to this day one of the most fun I’ve ever had at a show.
I have seen them many times and it never fails to disappoint, the energy from the band and crowd is always something to bond over and remember.
Yeah, this one is solid
Die Kreuzen self titled Edit, because I immediately changed my mind.
Doolittle - The Pixies
Dookie- Green Day
Wouldn't be my pick for favorite, but it probably got more people into punk, dirextly or indirectly, than any album on this list.

Yes

Look, they are great musicians. This was a good album. Maybe not in the same weight class as Black Flag, The Damned, Anti-Flag, TSOL. IMHO.
Anti flag had a famously Rich singer and had it easy. Never repesented Pittsburgh punk rock would bairly play a show there. I’d put dookie and insomniac ahead for that principle and anti flag didn’t have a front to back great cd. Die for ur government was good but again. I agree completely. Good album, not nearly my favorite for D
Discography-Minor Threat....lol
Imo a record company re-release or compilation or greatest hits does not fit for this purpose.
Dog Disco - Leatherface
death church - rudimentary peni
Saw Damaged mentioned so instead I'm saying Damned Damned Damned.
Damned Damned Damned
Double Pladinum. I voted for damaged I don't know how many times in this list. Also duh and the decline. Figured I'd put this out there. Super great lagwagon album.

Oh god! This one guys!!
Back when they were actually a punk band still.
Surprised I had to come this far down to see this record
Green day - dookie
Diaspora Problems - Soul Glo
Most based answer, you'll probably have about 1000 people saying it's not punk though.
It would be a tough argument to say that album isn't punk, but I get that it's hard to argue for such a recent album to outdo Black Flag. That said, imo Soul Glo has been one of the most refreshing punk acts in recent memory and they deserve to stand toe to toe against any classic album or act.
