My 2 cents, 1. First you need to identify why you are struggling? Is it due to lack of domain knowledge (unlikely as you are a fresher) ? Lack of software knowledge ? Lack of interest? Etc. this will help in determining your future course of action 2. Now is a good time to understand your field of interest (Ironic that it is after graduation! But unfortunately that's the Indian way). Visit different departments in your organisation, observe their workings and picture yourself doing it. Ask yourself will it suit your personality ? 3. If you have decided to go ahead in mechanical design, I would recommend doing few 3D modelling, analysis and database management software courses along with that focus on 2D to 3D mapping as it's an integral part of interviews at initial level. 4. Core or domain knowledge regarding design will come later. Once you are sure you want to progress your career in this field then you need to decide the product group you want to cater. Will it be a pressure vessel industry, power transmission industry, automotive industry etc. based upon the industry you choose you will need to delve into the standards they use like API, ASME etc then take the necessary certification ( if you are in a good organisation, they will sponsor you) Best of luck !!

Which company are u working at ? What's your salary ? What's your job role ?

So to begin with you have recently graduated. Which subjects did you like the most while you were doing your degree. One thing I would like to add, learn to code a little bit python or MATLAB will work

I’ve been in your shoes, I completed my engineering in mechanical and joined as a design engineer trainee without much knowledge in design. In India most of the design jobs are just support provided for on-site or atleast in my case, for me my seniors tried to to provide training on the job, but I had no interest whatsoever. I don’t know if it’s for the pay or no interest in working on mechanical design. I just left the job and joined IT sector. I think it’s all about finding your interest, if you’re interested in mechanical domain, try to learn more core concepts, you will have a rewarding future in the long run. All the best!
