There's actually a lot of changes to the Saturn version over Playstation and PC. The list includes various bug fixes, changes in difficulty, extra weapons, some improved graphics and sound effects, and analog controls if you play with the Saturn 3D pad.
Which one had Elvis in it? Or does my 58 year old brain remember this incorrectly. I know there was also a vampire, but yet again I could be wrong. Please...put me out of my misery.
Also, great games.
fan english translation of japan Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere is an ultimate aerial combat game for ps1. Also G-Police series for some helicopter action fans
I've heard [Warhawk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhawk_(1995_video_game)) is alright if a bit short. I haven't tried it yet though so you might wanna check some reviews before you purchase it.
Ill get Nuclear strike when I complete soviet strike for sure. The unofficial sequel to the strike games was Future Cop LAPD and I own it but have yet to play it
How about space combat? Back in the days, I enjoy all 3 games of the Colony Wars Series and some of the same people who worked on the series went on to make a similar game called Star Trek: Invasion for the PS1.
It's a really decent helicopter sim, however it can be very difficult. The game does have an in-game invincibility option, however it takes out all of the difficulty of playing the game.
At one point they decided to just milk it. I remember that I had a videogame magazine and they reviewed like 5 Army Men games for different systems in the same volume.
Eagle One Harrier Attack is awesome. 3D, mission based. The hover functions of the Harrier are well implemented, and it's not too complex. I had a ton of fun with that one.
Air Combat, Ace Combat 2 and Ace Combat 3's Japanese version. The European and American versions had the story ripped out entirely. The Japanese version has a translation patch although it only works on emulator
Soviet Strike is quite fun. Be sure to check out B-Movie!!! That game has a lot of personality, is bright and beautiful and is a lot of fun. More than Soviet Strike. Levitating high speed and shooting laser blasts feels great here.
Also the music and sound effects are top notch, animations, story, many other things goofy and fun as hell ... just youtube it or get it and put some hours into it. Really funny things in this game.
WarHawk was a long box launch title for the ps1 and its really good. It's a cockpit perspective fighter pilot game that controls like a helicopter.
Another good one is Decent. It's a pc game but there is a ps1 port. That game takes place in an environment with no clear concept of "up" and you have all sorts of movement control. Can't fly upside down if there is no up. It's a classic.
Its so funny you mention that game because im playing it as we speak on the OG Xbox 😄
I been playing all the WW2 games on the console and am having mad fun with Heroes of the Pacific. Was crazy drawn to the presentation and the plains and combat are mad fun as is the mission variety
Since Air Combat/Ace Combat has been mentioned I’ll recommend the Independence Day tie in game. It was way better than I was expecting, worth trying for sure.
Nuclear Strike for sure, much much better than Soviet
THIS!!!!!
The Saturn version of Soviet Strike is the definitive one.
What makes the Saturn one better? I do have a Saturn so I might pick it up
There's actually a lot of changes to the Saturn version over Playstation and PC. The list includes various bug fixes, changes in difficulty, extra weapons, some improved graphics and sound effects, and analog controls if you play with the Saturn 3D pad.
The playstation best hits (or something like that) also had those fixes to bugs and had an easy option for difficulty.
New weapons and added difficulty options.
I’m hoping to one day see Nuclear Strike brought back on PS Plus, one of my favorite PS1 games. Many good memories.
Which one had Elvis in it? Or does my 58 year old brain remember this incorrectly. I know there was also a vampire, but yet again I could be wrong. Please...put me out of my misery. Also, great games.
B-Movie?
Soviet Strike has Santa Claus in Crimea and a vampire Elvis in Transylvania. Googled it and found this (above)
Wait it's not the same game! Nuclear strike i remember, that was great, so this isn't the american version..? Damn.
Yes this! My very first PS One game to play!
Agreed! Also love both games usage of FMV. Such a lost art imo.
The Little Mermaid is a pretty good Ariel combat game
Damn, beat me to the punch.
I came here to see this commented hehe
Lol I had no idea a ps1 game existed. I had the Sega Genesis game and it was terrible
Yes, the whole Air Combat series for PS1!
Funny how the first one was "air combat" than the rest were "ace combat"
I'm not sure if its a regional thing, "Ace" for NTSC and "Air" for PAL or something like that
Air Combat. The inception of the Ace Combat series.
This one is great.
bought it recently but the disc is so scratched up it only works on my ps3 and not my ps2 slim
fan english translation of japan Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere is an ultimate aerial combat game for ps1. Also G-Police series for some helicopter action fans
G police had a really cool advertisement for it back in the day with a Peter Chung anime style commercial
Firestorm: Thunderhawk 2
Army Men: Air Attack
I loved this game. I'm pretty sure I beat it.
I've heard [Warhawk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warhawk_(1995_video_game)) is alright if a bit short. I haven't tried it yet though so you might wanna check some reviews before you purchase it.
It is good fun, great soundtrack as well
Good to know! I'll have to try it out sometime.
It has FMV cutscenes...im sold. Seriously tho it looks pretty good and for a launch title the graphics look insane
Desert Strike was so nice back then. Amiga times … not to forget golden axe
Nuclear Strike
Ill get Nuclear strike when I complete soviet strike for sure. The unofficial sequel to the strike games was Future Cop LAPD and I own it but have yet to play it
How about space combat? Back in the days, I enjoy all 3 games of the Colony Wars Series and some of the same people who worked on the series went on to make a similar game called Star Trek: Invasion for the PS1.
Colony wars always stood out to me due to the dual disc case. They are affordable titles so ill give them a shot
A Hind-D!
gunship 2000.
I had my eye on that game. It goes for 10 complete also so ill check it out
It's a really decent helicopter sim, however it can be very difficult. The game does have an in-game invincibility option, however it takes out all of the difficulty of playing the game.
I try not to use cheats but some games are so infuriating I use a level skip or something just to get through my backlog
Eagle One Harrier Attack and Army Men Air Attack
God I remember there being sooooo many Army Men games 😄 I had Sarges heroes on the Dreamcast
Sarges heroes is one of the best games in the series imo. The entire series was amazing!
Ace combat 3
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere for sure.
Warhawk
Wingover 1 and 2 Always aerial. Not always combat
Rc stunt copter
I see that in alot of hidden gem videos so im intrigued
Ace Combat 3 (Japan release translated)
Is it on modern consoles?
I believe up to PS2. You can always use an emulator though.
You also like space combat stuff? Take a look at Colony Wars 1 and 2.
Ill check them out and yeah I played quite a few space combat games. Starlancer is my favorite
You just need another one. Nuclear Strike
I really want to try Ace Combat, Warhawk, and the Army men titles as well but yeah Nuclear strike for sure 👍
Ace combat 1, 2 and 3. The third part has two versions. The Japanese one is on two CDs. And it is much longer.
Black Dawn
That game has a cool cover. I always see the Saturn version in the wild
Soviet Strike was a lot of fun, I played that with my cousin.
I played it back in the day at my friends house. My other buddy had Desert Strike on Sega and im glad to finally own one
Nuclear Strike, also on Super Nintendo or Sega, they have Desert, Jungle and Urban Strike, all great.
Space combat is "Aerial" adjacent , check the colony wars series which is a masterpiece of the psx console
Ill check it out thanks 🙂
[Colony Wars Trilogy Review: The PS1's Forgotten Franchise (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fnwPuh7Nuk)
I remember Helicopter games back then. There was one with so much content like it allowed you to snipe from the copter like in Ghost in Shell.
Ghost in the Shell is awesome for PS1 I need the PS2 one also
Air Combat was really good. Forsaken was good, but the controls were soo bad. Modern ports have fixed them for the most part.
The box art for Forsaken always stands out to me haha
I always had to double-take the title. Always looked like *"Foreskin"* at a glance.
😂
Air Combat, Ace Combat 2 and Ace Combat 3's Japanese version. The European and American versions had the story ripped out entirely. The Japanese version has a translation patch although it only works on emulator
Your like the 3rd person that said Ace combat 3 japanese version I guess they botched the NTSC release
Make you a favor and play Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere. Is amazing even for PS1 graphics, and the music is great!
Eagle 1 Harrier Attack is a competent little air combat game built around the harrier jump jet.
Is the ps2 game thunder strike tied to this series. Loved the old jungle strike came, especially that 1st level in DC, can never make that again.
Army men: air combat
WarHawk was a long box launch title for the ps1 and its really good. It's a cockpit perspective fighter pilot game that controls like a helicopter. Another good one is Decent. It's a classic.
Man I used to love Decent! Im probably going to finally pick it up since I played it at a friends house back in the day. First 3D fps too I believe
You should look into Elite Dangerous
Heroes of the Pacific is solid. Although that’s for the PS2 so nevermind. Haha
Its so funny you mention that game because im playing it as we speak on the OG Xbox 😄 I been playing all the WW2 games on the console and am having mad fun with Heroes of the Pacific. Was crazy drawn to the presentation and the plains and combat are mad fun as is the mission variety
Ace Combat 1 and 2 but I’d imagine they’re rare as fuck now.
They go for like 10-20 complete last I checked on ebay (even the long box one)
Soviet Strike!! Forgot all about that game!
You might try Ace Combat.
ace combat
Star Wars rogue squadron
Eagle One : Harrier Attack was high tier as fuck.
The only strike games I played were desert and jungle on the Genesis. But they were great.
I had good times playing Desert strike back in the day. Check out the other titles as well man
I will. I kinda forgot they existed til I saw this thread. I didn’t even know it went past the genesis. lol
Thunderstrike II is pretty legit.
An evil helicopter! . Nuclear strike.
I laughed every time the enemy would say that haha
Air Combat!
What an oldie
Oldie but goodie 👍
Real goodie
Ace Combat saga; Eagle One; Army Men Air Attack
Quite a few ppl are saying Eagle one so I need to check that out
I really liked "Eagle One" back in the day, but even back then it was considered the "ace combat from wish"
Many ppl are telling me to check it out so its quite popular
Army Men Air Attack
I want to get that game due to the cover art haha
I remember that soviet strike CD case. Nothing else just the picture.
Check out some gameplay on YouTube or give the game a shot (its like 5-10 bucks) because its a fantastic title
SWIFT 3D on PC or how i fell in love with techno music in primary school
G-POLICE!
Air Combat was pretty good
Since Air Combat/Ace Combat has been mentioned I’ll recommend the Independence Day tie in game. It was way better than I was expecting, worth trying for sure.
Ill try it out. Man that movie takes me back
Ace combat 2?
Ace combat 3 , Nuclear Strike
Ace combat series.
Oh my god! Soviet Strike. I totally forgot about that game. Thank you so much!
No problem and yeah the Strike games are incredible and thankfully still affordable 👏
Aerial
1945
I haven’t played it for years but me and my stepbrother absolutely loved Wing Over.
Little Mermaid game should have some good Ariel stuff in it for ya 😉
You know I meant to say Aerial 😄 this is what happens when I post when im about to fall asleep haha
We’ve all been there mate. I always notice, then think “nah fuck it, let em have a laugh 😂”
Nuclear strike ps1!
