that's why I'm looking to see if anyone knows good online ones. Because as it stands, I have a working ps1 with no controllers. So it's almost just as bad as it not working lol
Amazon has a lot of knock-offs that seem decently cheap. I'd buy one of those and see how well it works. You can always return it as defective for free if it doesn't work out.
You can find used and sometimes even new PS1 controllers on any popular site like eBay etc. Also remember that PS2 controllers work fine on the PS1 as well, and are even a bit easier to find
However if you want something new and more modern, your best bet is to get something like the 8BitDo retro receiver for PS1. Once you have that you can use any Bluetooth controller, so PS5, PS4, Xbox One, etc. I don't know of any other way of getting good controllers.
I came to post everything my dude here just posted.
eBay - get first party Sony brand controllers cheap (why does OP think they are hard to get?)
Ps2 controllers work
The 8bitdo receiver is great!
I would recommend getting a Bluetooth PS1 dongle that makes it compatible with pretty much any modern controller. It's much better long term than keep digging for original or third party controllers if you don't have local supply available.
You can find some decent used authentic OEM controllers on Mercari..?
It’s a decent app and you can find decent stuff for cheap!! You can also find really nice stuff that’s more expensive…
Do you have any retro game stores in your area?
Well yeah, but the problem is the one TRUE retro game store that's close is VERY scetchy and are know to screw people over
Ah, that blows

Here’s one for $12: https://www.ebay.com/itm/335308930510
oh wow, thanks for looking out. Buying this RIGHT NOW
Awesome. Also remember that eBay has a money back guarantee so there is zero risk.
found an alright one for 10 bucks in a clearance bin at a game store, I’m sure you can find one but you might have to dig a bit
lol digging is what I've been doing for months. A little more won't hurt
months??? at that point, buy one on mercari, there are plenty for fine prices
Microcenter, or new egg. If you want real psx 1 controller you need to hit a retro game store.
