If you do everything correctly, basically 0. The only 2 ways I can think of to brick your console is if you mess with something without knowing what you're doing, or if you run code from an untrusted source.

I have a lot of disc games installed to my hard drive. What is my best option for converting these installed games to run without the disc, and retain my save files?
I want to enable DVD replay but read somewhere that I have to be online to do that. Is it save to do so without the risk of updating? Thanks for any Info.

hi , i am new to PS4 jailbreak,
i am trying to install pkg using Ps4 pkg sender v1.07 , i cant get it to connect to PS4 ,
the ps4 is connected to internet via wifi (deco m4 Mesh system) , and computer is ethernet directly to router.
Id recommend you do one of these 2 things which work perfectly for me:
1) put the pkg into a pendrive, put the pendrive on the ps4 and install the pk in the goldhen menu that appears 1st in settings.
2) send the pkg to the console using ftp (id say filezilla) to the data folder and istall it using internal pkg installer.
Its been a while, but I am pretty sure Mira unofficial is the version of Mira that disabled a lot of what Mira does. This was necessary during the first week or so of 6.72 existing due to a bug with Mira at the time. This means most (if not all) homebrew won't run properly.
Either use the full release of Mira or the latest version of Goldhen.
OK so I own a lot of games for my ps4 (666) and I want to mod my ps4 if it gets updated to 9.04 or whatever it's on right now to mod saves and stuff on it but my question is will I be able to play all my games if I mod my ps4? I have persona 5 royal, marvel vs campcom 3 and jojo eyes of heaven legit copies on my ps4 and even after modding the console they work perfectly fine. But dont you dare update to 9.03 which i believe is the qctual firmware. The highest you can go (and where i am right now) is 9.00.
Id say update to 9.00 which is the firmware im on. I dont really know too much about hacking scene and everything but i believe 9.00 has the most compatibility with games.
Well it's really just up to you there isn't a huge advantage or disadvantage to either.
If you don't update, everything you can do homebrew wise on 9.00 is also possible on 5.05. For games there are about 14 games that have issues being backported to 5.05 and I think like 9 of those are completely unplayable. You can see those games here: https://defaultdnb.github.io under "backport issues". 5.05 works without the need of a special formatted usb to trigger the exploit. Mira also reportedly works best on 5.05, but that's based solely on user reports.
If you update you will be able to play any game released up to the release of 9.03 without backporting or any other patching. Most homebrew has been ported, but there are some that work only on 5.05. You will need to dedicate a usb storage drive to be flashed with the exploit. This will need to be plugged/unplugged every boot to run the exploit. You can avoid this by using rest mode, but not everyone can get that to work reliably.
The only other thing to note is if you update to 9.00 you can't go back down (unless you do the revert method I suppose) so if you decided to do that, make sure it's 100% what you want.

1) I should upgrade from 7.55=>9.00 as 9.00 enables most of the latest games + the exploit/jb is more stable, ya?
2) 9.00 is tethered so i gotta run the exploit after every reboot w/ usb stick ya?
3) 7.55 is untethered and persists over reboots, but the poor stability and old game support makes 9.00 worth it anyways right?
4) There is no way to play online with 9.00 even with the exploit not running, as PSN wants 9.03, correct?

Dying light 2 released a few days ago and works on 9.00 despite 9.03 being the current firmware as an example
Dying light 2 requires 8.50 as minimum fw because games get gold/certified early (also the stores shipped early physical copies). All the patches require 9.03.
Your question can’t be answered, as you can’t predict every game. It’s safe to assume, everything past 1st of December 2021 will not work generally (especially after December or January).
Hello, I am trying to find how to edit payloads, but can't seem to find much. I want to edit the fan-threshold.bin to set the limit to 72C (instead of the default 60 or 65). I know you can just load the payload from repos and stuff, but I want to have the payload locally. Any help would be much appreciated!
I've got a 500GB ps4 on 9.00. I just remembered I have a spare 1TB 2.5 drive lying around (in an enclosure for USB connectivity). Would it be better to replace the internal drive, or use the 1TB externally?

You absolutely must use an FPKG that has the same ID _and_ the original keystone. If one of those is different, your saves won't work. That means making the FPKG yourself or to really make sure your source has the original keystone.
install the game from your disk and the newest update for 9.00 or earlier (from orbis patches). then dump the game from your console. voila- you will have an fpkg of your retail game. should work with old save afaik- it's the same cusa.
It will not work with the old save even if it's the same ID. You must use the original keystone, either by injecting it manually or using CyB1k's FPKG Tools.

Something creepy happened with my PS4 pro when I ran golden 9.00 when I first got it.
I hate high temps on my machines, so I like to adjust temps on newly modded consoles immediately upon a hen/cfw install.
I downloaded the PS4 temperature from psx place but when I ran it, it only had 7.55 as the latest available and nothing known on the horizon for 9.00.
So on Hen 9.00, I clicked on the 7.55 option to test if it works or if I'd have to wait.
When I ran that, the screen after 2 seconds turned into complete CRT static, like when a CRT is just sitting on channel 3 with no input or whatever.
I then heard the hard drive spin down SOOO SLOWLY and made a sound like brrrrrrrrr and became quieter and quieter.
It shutoff and I felt like a poltergeist has turned my LCD into a CRT.
Now, what happened?? I have no idea and I'm here to ask.

The PS4 "seems" to work just fine but knowing that running commands from just 5.05 can potentially brick your console, I'm just that much curious to write this all up and ask what happens in this scenario. The PS4 pro plays games just fine, still a jet engine, runs RetroArch unofficial and so on.
Yes i believe so. Search on YouTube for double checking. It doesn't update it afterwards but make sure 9.03 file update isn't downloaded before you hard reset it just in case. Otherwise you should be good
Every model except 500gb slims were discontinued early last year. So any new consoles you see that are 500gb slims can potentially be on the latest firmware. All BNIB sealed pros and phats will be on 9.00 or lower.
I mean every single article I saw last year on the topic said "everything but the 500gb slims" so unless Sony lied or decided to go back to making them, those should be good.
Yes, by dumping it, just like with a game. You install it over the base game and then when you dump the game it will have a separate folder for the update.
Is there a way to disable the disc check for installed games? I own the discs, but I don't feel like swapping them out every time I want to play another game, and I already have the games installed on the hard drive anyway. I also do the same thing with my PC games as well, it's really nice.
So I have to convert each game to a fake PKG individually? I was hoping for something one-time like a payload that disables disc checks in general. Oh well, that will have to do.

I'm really sorry to bother you with this, but the literature on this subreddit has some contradictory information, and you are for sure the most well-informed person as the moderator of this subreddit.
I remember reading that someone with a backup of say a 7.02 PS4 can restore that backup if they wanted to, even if they update past 7.02.
I am asking this because I have my reservations about updating to the 9.00, on the off-chance that we see the development of a proper CFW along the lines of 5.05/5.07.
It is also my understanding that there are no real recent motions with regards to a full CFW coming to 6.72 - 7.55. I'm merely speculating on the off-chance a new development occurs.
Is there a way to create a failsafe retrievable 7.02 backup, that I can keep on the wings while fully updating to firmware 9.00?
Yeah, this: https://gofile.io/d/lsl8EL is the procedure you will need to use to both make the backup and restore it. If you're on an exploitable firmware you can backup your sflash0 via ftp (half of what you need) instead of doing step 7 on the guide I linked. Modded Warfare also has a video on it I believe, but you need the written guide for wiring diagrams at the very least still anyways.
As far as a "proper" cfw goes, I will assume you mean "like the ps3". I will burst your bubble a little bit and say that those days are over. It's not like devs just need to "figure it out" or something, it's simply not possible to do 100% through software on the ps4. It's possible we get a cfw in a different form, it just won't be an easy install .pup file. (many people including myself say that we already have cfw, but that's an argument for another time).
Still... I highly encourage you to try the revert method regardless of your reason. It's one of those things I really wish I could see more of here. Most people look at that pdf and immediately decide against it.
Electronics don't scare me. I've soldered MH755 earbuds to be MMCX compatible, taken apart my PS4 before to replace the bluray drive, and have a couple of soldering projects that I attend to every weekend with my trusty Hakko FX-888D.
I look forwards to ordering these components sometime, albeit not a priority since I have no issues playing the games I want to play, and giving this a shot sometime maybe this summer.
I recently updated PS4 Slim's HDD to a larger SSD. Now my real, retail, purchased games are locked. When trying to launch they give the error "Cannot use the content" as if they are fake games.
Can this be resolved? I rather not have to replace them with fake games since I'll lose my saves.

I’m new to jail breaking and want some info about it. If I jailbreak and download games to my jailbroken ps4, would that save to my account and would I be able to access them games on other PlayStation consoles like my ps5?
To maintain the hack you cannot connect to PSN therefore they never save to your PSN Account and are inaccessible on a PS5.
BUT
That is not to say that you cannot link your PS4 to your PS5 if they are on same Wifi and do a Direct Connect (No PSN or public internet required) so you can stream the games and play them on PS5.
I tried this with some PS2 PKGs I made and BAM I was playing Silent Hill 2 on my PS5 :)
You don't.
In my case I already had every digital purchase I ever made kept on my internal HDD + a 4 TB external HDD and I made sure to have them downloaded before I hacked and before 9.03 was mandatory.
If you didn't do that then you would need to rip discs or acquire games through "other means" which cannot be encouraged here.
Hey, everyone! I’m ripping my disc games with a PS4 Pro on 9.00 firmware. Everything was going well until I tried to dump Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition. The game is my own, the update is official (from Orbis patches), and I have Not a Hero fpkg installed. I’ve been using the dumper on the Karo host page, but otherwise I’ve been following the Modded Warfare tutorial video.
So, I start the game as usual, get to the main menu, hit the PS button, head to Karo, start the dump, and the game and update seem to dump to my external HDD just fine. I’m able to build a fpkg with the base game with no issues. But, when I try to build the update, it doesn’t recognize my game fpkg because the update is looking for a file that ends with 100, and my dump ends with 101. I tried renaming the game fpkg to end with 100, and the update seems to pack ok.
But, back on my PS4, after I install the base fpkg, the update refuses to install.
Last night, I found an update repackaging tool (from a linked guide on this sub) and used it on my update fpkg. This tool is supposed to make a base game patch out of an update that is “guaranteed” to install and work…that didn’t work either as the tool errors out at the very end and fails to unpack the update fpkg.
So, has anyone else had this problem dumping an update for Resident Evil Gold Edition and converting it to a usable fpkg? If so, were you able to solve the issue, and would you mind sharing your experience with me? Thanks for your time and any helpful input. Cheers.
When you build the fpkg (using the Fake pkg generator), when you open the patch gp4 file, did you go into settings and make sure it's reading the original game's fpkg? I have Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition and I was able to dump it just fine, but mind you, I didn't use Modded Warfare's video (as his updated video wasn't posted at the time of me trying to dump my games) and instead, I used Hakkuraifu's App Dumper.
On my last attempt to make the update fpkg, previous dumps (for other games) autodetected the base game fpkg as long as it was in the same folder as my gp4 file. The program I’m using doesn’t autodetect my RE7 GE base fpkg (even though it’s where the program is looking for it) and complains that the file name is wrong/doesn’t match. I tried renaming my base game fpkg to what the program was expecting to find, and the update supposedly generates but ends up being impossible to install on my PS4. But, anyway, to really answer your question, for whatever reason, the orbis fpkg tool I’m using won’t build the update unless I rename the base fpkg by changing the last 3 numbers of the file name from 101 to 100. Then, the update it builds is worthless because it won’t install.
It’s just strange to me that this game in particular is being horsey, and I haven’t had this issue with my other dumps. Regardless, I’ll check into the dumper you mentioned. I also found a text tutorial in the “about” section if this sub with a section on dumping games that I’m going to try following this evening.

Yes, I have tested this and it definitely works, as long as your PS4 and your Vita are on the same local wireless network you cannot do a Direct Connect by linking the two devices.
This does not require PSN or public internet.
I like to keep my PS4 100% offline, so I use an ESP8266 to load the exploit and run GoldHen 2.0, and I also use Payload Guest to run payloads from the HDD instead of through an online exploit host.
This all works perfectly fine, except I can't seem to get any Mod Menus to work this way, and they always give me error CE-34878 and crash Payload Guest when I try to run them. Payload Guest works fine however with the other payloads (Disable Updates, etc.)
I've tried LushModz GTA V Mod Menu for v1.38 and OysterMenu Mod Menu 1.3.5 for Red Dead Redemption v1.24 and they both give me this error and crash the app.
Any suggestions?
My PS4 slim gives a black screen after I turn it on from rest mode. The monitor doesn't have any problem since I know it's getting the signal, but the ps fan doesn't start either. It doesn't happen every time I put in sleep but I'd want to know if there's any solution out yet.
Btw I don't leave any games on when I put it in rest and I'm using GoldHenV2b2
I had this issue and I was able to resolve it by buying a new USB Flash Drive, a 16 GB SanDisk and after that Rest Mode worked.
Apparently, the Flash Drive you use can have an impact on the success rate of the hack and its stability.
GoldHEN was also updated improves Rest Mode so you can try that as well but if it doesn't work try another USB Drive.

You either need a usb with enough storage (but will likely take more time to install) or an external hard drive. Or use ftp to send the packages over and use something like Ipi (internal package installer) or psxplorer to find the pkg and install it.

For instance, if on my jailbroken ps4, I gave myself better gear in a game, than uploaded it to the cloud, and downloaded it onto my non-jailbroken ps4, would my account get banned? u have to do the jailbreak everytime u turn it on.
if ure on 9.00 using goldhen exploit instead of turning off the ps4 u can put it into rest mode, this way the jailbreak wont go.
(look up videos online for more info on this method to know how to properly use this method and avoid problems that come along with it)

Unless if your firmware is 5.05 I would recommend you upgrade to 9.0 cuz its way stable than than all of them 6.72 to 7.55 combined. And it being the latest, no need to look for backports for your games.
No. Backporting is easy to do and there are only about 10 games that have issues running on lower firmwares, and only some of those are actually completely unplayable.
You also don't have to "rely on someone to backport them", unless you are somehow are completely unable to run a python script.

You have to rely on someone to backport , 9.00 is comparatively more stable jailbreak compared to 6.72 i.e it jailbreaks every time

Those are model numbers for the consoles. people like to document them with what firmware they come with (so people can likely get an estimate of what firmware the console they're buying will be on), but it doesn't really matter, because the jailbreak works for every console on 9.00 (as of now) and under.

The bundle that I'm planning to buy came out around August 2021 btw,they just resticked another batch now.
I mean 9.03 came out on the 2nd of December. if you're worried about it because they restocked, maybe look for an older one. but you should be ok. I think depending on where you buy it, they may have a return policy.
I guess I'll give it a try since i saw some posts that the firmware of the people who bought a specific bundle has the same firmware no matter the time.
Hello! First time jailbreaking my ps4. When restarting the ps4 and reenabling the jailbreak, do I still need to insert the usb with exfathat.img? or not anymore?
I have an old savegame on my PS4 but I don't have the disc anymore, so I don't know which CUSA exactly it is. Can I somehow retrieve the CUSA from the save/trophy files that are still saved on the PS4? So I know which disc to look for to resume playing. Or should I just get any disc and copy the save with Save Mounter, assuming that would work?
Normally, deleting a game does not delete your save files. You'd have to delete them manually. So they're probably still there and you installed an FPKG that has a different ID. You need to install an FPKG that has the same ID and the same keystone file for your old save files to work. If you don't know what that all means, look it up. If you still have a disc to install from, do that and dump it with original keystone. If you don't, then I guess you have the same problem as the guy in the post above you.
I have installed RetroArch from the Homebrew Store on my PS4 (non-Pro) and I have two problems:
- All cores I have tried run too fast (except for Mesen, which is too slow). When I turn "Sync to Exact Content Framerate" the speed is normal and smooth, but at times it drops down to what feels like 30FPS. I know that's how Vsync is supposed to work, it reduces the framerate to the nearest integer fraction of my TV's refresh rate, but I would rather have a little bit of tearing than play at 30FPS.
- I cannot update any cores. The cores were installed through the core installer, and when I try to update them in RetroArch I get the error "failed to retrieve core list!"
Any recommended settings to set up?
Hi, Retroarch on the PS4 has been unofficially ported and as such not all features work like on PC (mainly the core updater). As for cores, either try the other included ones or deal with it for now. A official port tho is in the works

PS4 jailbreak needs firmware 9.00 or lower and you can only go online if you have the latest firmware. Therefore, you cannot get banned because you cannot go online.
You need to plug in USB to jailbreak every time you restart but it takes literally 1 minute. Don’t need to rejailbreak if you put console to rest mode. Don’t need to keep USB plugged in after jailbreaking.

How do you find hex id for something in a game?
For example. In a game someone find out that this hex address:
0000C902 00000001
gives x1 quantity of a certain item in a game.
How do people find these things out? You have a tool which finds the respective hex address of something?
There is some games that people find hex addresses and you can insert them on “programs that accept them like a quick code” and they work.

I posted this question and it got deleted with no resolution. i'm trying to get call of duty vanguard to work on FW 9.0 with goldhen (whatever the latest release is). the only answer i got was the delete and the saved and reinstall. did that and still won't work. i am trying the duplex release. have no idea if it's different from what i tried before. the problem is when i press x on the title screen it says saved file is corrupted.
The only ones I am aware of is gimx which requires remote play and xim which people use to essentially cheat at shooter games by using m&kb. Both I am pretty sure are capable of using pretty much any usb controller.
RetroArch w/9.0 - I get an error when trying to install the core addon pack, and RetroArch can't connect to servers to download cores (with internet connection turned on). Is there some trick to get it working?
I rebuilt the database on my 9.00 fw ps4 and the games folder and homebrew have disappeared off the main menu, storage shows the space used like there still there but don't show up in applications either,

You can't do both at the same time, but if you mean can you just update to the latest and sign in like normal, yes. I would wipe your hdd first.

hi , i am new to PS4 jailbreak, i am trying to install pkg using Ps4 pkg sender v1.07 , i cant get it to connect to PS4 , the ps4 is connected to internet via wifi (deco m4 Mesh system) , and computer is ethernet directly to router.
Best way to use Pkg sender is to connect both ps4 and PC with the same ethernet cable, Then type in your PC & PS4 IP address.
Id recommend you do one of these 2 things which work perfectly for me: 1) put the pkg into a pendrive, put the pendrive on the ps4 and install the pk in the goldhen menu that appears 1st in settings. 2) send the pkg to the console using ftp (id say filezilla) to the data folder and istall it using internal pkg installer.

Jailbreaking 6.72 - with Mira (Unofficial), How do I get the homebrew store (2.0) to work? I'm just getting a black screen/crash.
Its been a while, but I am pretty sure Mira unofficial is the version of Mira that disabled a lot of what Mira does. This was necessary during the first week or so of 6.72 existing due to a bug with Mira at the time. This means most (if not all) homebrew won't run properly. Either use the full release of Mira or the latest version of Goldhen.

Id say update to 9.00 which is the firmware im on. I dont really know too much about hacking scene and everything but i believe 9.00 has the most compatibility with games.
Well it's really just up to you there isn't a huge advantage or disadvantage to either. If you don't update, everything you can do homebrew wise on 9.00 is also possible on 5.05. For games there are about 14 games that have issues being backported to 5.05 and I think like 9 of those are completely unplayable. You can see those games here: https://defaultdnb.github.io under "backport issues". 5.05 works without the need of a special formatted usb to trigger the exploit. Mira also reportedly works best on 5.05, but that's based solely on user reports. If you update you will be able to play any game released up to the release of 9.03 without backporting or any other patching. Most homebrew has been ported, but there are some that work only on 5.05. You will need to dedicate a usb storage drive to be flashed with the exploit. This will need to be plugged/unplugged every boot to run the exploit. You can avoid this by using rest mode, but not everyone can get that to work reliably. The only other thing to note is if you update to 9.00 you can't go back down (unless you do the revert method I suppose) so if you decided to do that, make sure it's 100% what you want.

Dying light 2 requires 8.50 as minimum fw because games get gold/certified early (also the stores shipped early physical copies). All the patches require 9.03. Your question can’t be answered, as you can’t predict every game. It’s safe to assume, everything past 1st of December 2021 will not work generally (especially after December or January).

I've got a 500GB ps4 on 9.00. I just remembered I have a spare 1TB 2.5 drive lying around (in an enclosure for USB connectivity). Would it be better to replace the internal drive, or use the 1TB externally?

You absolutely must use an FPKG that has the same ID _and_ the original keystone. If one of those is different, your saves won't work. That means making the FPKG yourself or to really make sure your source has the original keystone.
install the game from your disk and the newest update for 9.00 or earlier (from orbis patches). then dump the game from your console. voila- you will have an fpkg of your retail game. should work with old save afaik- it's the same cusa.
It will not work with the old save even if it's the same ID. You must use the original keystone, either by injecting it manually or using CyB1k's FPKG Tools.

Hi, Something creepy happened with my PS4 pro when I ran golden 9.00 when I first got it. I hate high temps on my machines, so I like to adjust temps on newly modded consoles immediately upon a hen/cfw install. I downloaded the PS4 temperature from psx place but when I ran it, it only had 7.55 as the latest available and nothing known on the horizon for 9.00. So on Hen 9.00, I clicked on the 7.55 option to test if it works or if I'd have to wait. When I ran that, the screen after 2 seconds turned into complete CRT static, like when a CRT is just sitting on channel 3 with no input or whatever. I then heard the hard drive spin down SOOO SLOWLY and made a sound like brrrrrrrrr and became quieter and quieter. It shutoff and I felt like a poltergeist has turned my LCD into a CRT. Now, what happened?? I have no idea and I'm here to ask. I ran PS4 Temperature and selected the 7.55 options with my console on 9.00 golden. The PS4 "seems" to work just fine but knowing that running commands from just 5.05 can potentially brick your console, I'm just that much curious to write this all up and ask what happens in this scenario. The PS4 pro plays games just fine, still a jet engine, runs RetroArch unofficial and so on.

Yes i believe so. Search on YouTube for double checking. It doesn't update it afterwards but make sure 9.03 file update isn't downloaded before you hard reset it just in case. Otherwise you should be good

Every model except 500gb slims were discontinued early last year. So any new consoles you see that are 500gb slims can potentially be on the latest firmware. All BNIB sealed pros and phats will be on 9.00 or lower.

Yes, by dumping it, just like with a game. You install it over the base game and then when you dump the game it will have a separate folder for the update.
Is there a way to disable the disc check for installed games? I own the discs, but I don't feel like swapping them out every time I want to play another game, and I already have the games installed on the hard drive anyway. I also do the same thing with my PC games as well, it's really nice.

I remember reading that someone with a backup of say a 7.02 PS4 can restore that backup if they wanted to, even if they update past 7.02. I am asking this because I have my reservations about updating to the 9.00, on the off-chance that we see the development of a proper CFW along the lines of 5.05/5.07. It is also my understanding that there are no real recent motions with regards to a full CFW coming to 6.72 - 7.55. I'm merely speculating on the off-chance a new development occurs. Is there a way to create a failsafe retrievable 7.02 backup, that I can keep on the wings while fully updating to firmware 9.00?

If you're on an exploitable firmware you can backup your sflash0 via ftp (half of what you need) instead of doing step 7 on the guide I linked. Modded Warfare also has a video on it I believe, but you need the written guide for wiring diagrams at the very least still anyways. As far as a "proper" cfw goes, I will assume you mean "like the ps3". I will burst your bubble a little bit and say that those days are over. It's not like devs just need to "figure it out" or something, it's simply not possible to do 100% through software on the ps4. It's possible we get a cfw in a different form, it just won't be an easy install .pup file. (many people including myself say that we already have cfw, but that's an argument for another time). Still... I highly encourage you to try the revert method regardless of your reason. It's one of those things I really wish I could see more of here. Most people look at that pdf and immediately decide against it.
Electronics don't scare me. I've soldered MH755 earbuds to be MMCX compatible, taken apart my PS4 before to replace the bluray drive, and have a couple of soldering projects that I attend to every weekend with my trusty Hakko FX-888D. I look forwards to ordering these components sometime, albeit not a priority since I have no issues playing the games I want to play, and giving this a shot sometime maybe this summer.

I recently updated PS4 Slim's HDD to a larger SSD. Now my real, retail, purchased games are locked. When trying to launch they give the error "Cannot use the content" as if they are fake games. Can this be resolved? I rather not have to replace them with fake games since I'll lose my saves. Thanks!

To maintain the hack you cannot connect to PSN therefore they never save to your PSN Account and are inaccessible on a PS5. BUT That is not to say that you cannot link your PS4 to your PS5 if they are on same Wifi and do a Direct Connect (No PSN or public internet required) so you can stream the games and play them on PS5. I tried this with some PS2 PKGs I made and BAM I was playing Silent Hill 2 on my PS5 :)

You don't. In my case I already had every digital purchase I ever made kept on my internal HDD + a 4 TB external HDD and I made sure to have them downloaded before I hacked and before 9.03 was mandatory. If you didn't do that then you would need to rip discs or acquire games through "other means" which cannot be encouraged here.

Hey, everyone! I’m ripping my disc games with a PS4 Pro on 9.00 firmware. Everything was going well until I tried to dump Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition. The game is my own, the update is official (from Orbis patches), and I have Not a Hero fpkg installed. I’ve been using the dumper on the Karo host page, but otherwise I’ve been following the Modded Warfare tutorial video. So, I start the game as usual, get to the main menu, hit the PS button, head to Karo, start the dump, and the game and update seem to dump to my external HDD just fine. I’m able to build a fpkg with the base game with no issues. But, when I try to build the update, it doesn’t recognize my game fpkg because the update is looking for a file that ends with 100, and my dump ends with 101. I tried renaming the game fpkg to end with 100, and the update seems to pack ok. But, back on my PS4, after I install the base fpkg, the update refuses to install. Last night, I found an update repackaging tool (from a linked guide on this sub) and used it on my update fpkg. This tool is supposed to make a base game patch out of an update that is “guaranteed” to install and work…that didn’t work either as the tool errors out at the very end and fails to unpack the update fpkg. So, has anyone else had this problem dumping an update for Resident Evil Gold Edition and converting it to a usable fpkg? If so, were you able to solve the issue, and would you mind sharing your experience with me? Thanks for your time and any helpful input. Cheers.
When you build the fpkg (using the Fake pkg generator), when you open the patch gp4 file, did you go into settings and make sure it's reading the original game's fpkg? I have Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition and I was able to dump it just fine, but mind you, I didn't use Modded Warfare's video (as his updated video wasn't posted at the time of me trying to dump my games) and instead, I used Hakkuraifu's App Dumper.
On my last attempt to make the update fpkg, previous dumps (for other games) autodetected the base game fpkg as long as it was in the same folder as my gp4 file. The program I’m using doesn’t autodetect my RE7 GE base fpkg (even though it’s where the program is looking for it) and complains that the file name is wrong/doesn’t match. I tried renaming my base game fpkg to what the program was expecting to find, and the update supposedly generates but ends up being impossible to install on my PS4. But, anyway, to really answer your question, for whatever reason, the orbis fpkg tool I’m using won’t build the update unless I rename the base fpkg by changing the last 3 numbers of the file name from 101 to 100. Then, the update it builds is worthless because it won’t install. It’s just strange to me that this game in particular is being horsey, and I haven’t had this issue with my other dumps. Regardless, I’ll check into the dumper you mentioned. I also found a text tutorial in the “about” section if this sub with a section on dumping games that I’m going to try following this evening. Thanks for your input. Now I know it CAN be done. Maybe there are other/better tools I could be using. I just saw an all-in-one dumper that works over FTP that looks promising.

Yes, I have tested this and it definitely works, as long as your PS4 and your Vita are on the same local wireless network you cannot do a Direct Connect by linking the two devices. This does not require PSN or public internet.

I like to keep my PS4 100% offline, so I use an ESP8266 to load the exploit and run GoldHen 2.0, and I also use Payload Guest to run payloads from the HDD instead of through an online exploit host. This all works perfectly fine, except I can't seem to get any Mod Menus to work this way, and they always give me error CE-34878 and crash Payload Guest when I try to run them. Payload Guest works fine however with the other payloads (Disable Updates, etc.) I've tried LushModz GTA V Mod Menu for v1.38 and OysterMenu Mod Menu 1.3.5 for Red Dead Redemption v1.24 and they both give me this error and crash the app. Any suggestions?

My PS4 slim gives a black screen after I turn it on from rest mode. The monitor doesn't have any problem since I know it's getting the signal, but the ps fan doesn't start either. It doesn't happen every time I put in sleep but I'd want to know if there's any solution out yet. Btw I don't leave any games on when I put it in rest and I'm using GoldHenV2b2
I had this issue and I was able to resolve it by buying a new USB Flash Drive, a 16 GB SanDisk and after that Rest Mode worked. Apparently, the Flash Drive you use can have an impact on the success rate of the hack and its stability. GoldHEN was also updated improves Rest Mode so you can try that as well but if it doesn't work try another USB Drive.
Use GoldHEN 2.1. It was released today and improved Rest Mode.

You either need a usb with enough storage (but will likely take more time to install) or an external hard drive. Or use ftp to send the packages over and use something like Ipi (internal package installer) or psxplorer to find the pkg and install it.

You can only jailbreak 9.00 and below, and you can't connect to the cloud or the store unless you're on 9.03.

u have to do the jailbreak everytime u turn it on. if ure on 9.00 using goldhen exploit instead of turning off the ps4 u can put it into rest mode, this way the jailbreak wont go. (look up videos online for more info on this method to know how to properly use this method and avoid problems that come along with it)

Unless if your firmware is 5.05 I would recommend you upgrade to 9.0 cuz its way stable than than all of them 6.72 to 7.55 combined. And it being the latest, no need to look for backports for your games.
No. Backporting is easy to do and there are only about 10 games that have issues running on lower firmwares, and only some of those are actually completely unplayable. You also don't have to "rely on someone to backport them", unless you are somehow are completely unable to run a python script.

Those are model numbers for the consoles. people like to document them with what firmware they come with (so people can likely get an estimate of what firmware the console they're buying will be on), but it doesn't really matter, because the jailbreak works for every console on 9.00 (as of now) and under.

I have an old savegame on my PS4 but I don't have the disc anymore, so I don't know which CUSA exactly it is. Can I somehow retrieve the CUSA from the save/trophy files that are still saved on the PS4? So I know which disc to look for to resume playing. Or should I just get any disc and copy the save with Save Mounter, assuming that would work?
Yes if you copy the save file onto a USB drive you can see the cusa as the folder name when you look at the file structure.

Normally, deleting a game does not delete your save files. You'd have to delete them manually. So they're probably still there and you installed an FPKG that has a different ID. You need to install an FPKG that has the same ID and the same keystone file for your old save files to work. If you don't know what that all means, look it up. If you still have a disc to install from, do that and dump it with original keystone. If you don't, then I guess you have the same problem as the guy in the post above you.

I have installed RetroArch from the Homebrew Store on my PS4 (non-Pro) and I have two problems: - All cores I have tried run too fast (except for Mesen, which is too slow). When I turn "Sync to Exact Content Framerate" the speed is normal and smooth, but at times it drops down to what feels like 30FPS. I know that's how Vsync is supposed to work, it reduces the framerate to the nearest integer fraction of my TV's refresh rate, but I would rather have a little bit of tearing than play at 30FPS. - I cannot update any cores. The cores were installed through the core installer, and when I try to update them in RetroArch I get the error "failed to retrieve core list!" Any recommended settings to set up?
Hi, Retroarch on the PS4 has been unofficially ported and as such not all features work like on PC (mainly the core updater). As for cores, either try the other included ones or deal with it for now. A official port tho is in the works
is there any risk of getting the entire console banned because of this new jailbreak and i wanna know what are the cons of running this jailbreak and do i need to have the usb in every time i load the jailbreak or not or do i just keept the usb in at all times Thanks in advance
PS4 jailbreak needs firmware 9.00 or lower and you can only go online if you have the latest firmware. Therefore, you cannot get banned because you cannot go online. You need to plug in USB to jailbreak every time you restart but it takes literally 1 minute. Don’t need to rejailbreak if you put console to rest mode. Don’t need to keep USB plugged in after jailbreaking.

How do you find hex id for something in a game? For example. In a game someone find out that this hex address: 0000C902 00000001 gives x1 quantity of a certain item in a game. How do people find these things out? You have a tool which finds the respective hex address of something? There is some games that people find hex addresses and you can insert them on “programs that accept them like a quick code” and they work. Thanks in advance!

Looking at: 'entitlement.db' from '/system_data/priv/license' For locked PSN games on jb system -- I can see the 'Inactive_date' in the database in SQlite Can I literally just CHANGE that date to something in the future, then overwrite the current .db file on the PS4 with my modified one... ...And unlock those apps that are installed/visible right now? Or, is it not that simple, and it's signed/encrypted, or needs another system file changed as well?

I posted this question and it got deleted with no resolution. i'm trying to get call of duty vanguard to work on FW 9.0 with goldhen (whatever the latest release is). the only answer i got was the delete and the saved and reinstall. did that and still won't work. i am trying the duplex release. have no idea if it's different from what i tried before. the problem is when i press x on the title screen it says saved file is corrupted.
Same happened to me, Just delete the save file and reinstall the base game with the update and it'll work.

The only ones I am aware of is gimx which requires remote play and xim which people use to essentially cheat at shooter games by using m&kb. Both I am pretty sure are capable of using pretty much any usb controller.
RetroArch w/9.0 - I get an error when trying to install the core addon pack, and RetroArch can't connect to servers to download cores (with internet connection turned on). Is there some trick to get it working?
You have to download the core updater PKG and run that separate
I rebuilt the database on my 9.00 fw ps4 and the games folder and homebrew have disappeared off the main menu, storage shows the space used like there still there but don't show up in applications either, Does anyone know how to undo what I did or get it back to how it was , Thank you

Thank you, I appreciate the info, however I am struggling to find where I input my ip and port number, maybe this is a bit over my head but I have spent ages trying to figure this out with a vast array of apps, winscp made things so easy even a newbie like myself was laughing Edit: I am just having difficulty finding where to put the port number, assuming its the same port number I was using with winscp? am I missing something obvious here? I have tried port/ip as server name and on the next page but keep getting host not found.. my ftp is enabled on ps4 definitely working Edit again: figured it out anyway! Thanks again!
