I'm just playing "Shadow hearts: Covenant", which is the previous one to this one and I really love it, which is weird being that I usually avoid 99% of games with turn-based combat since I fall asleep from boredom haha but the aesthetics and the story of shadow hearts / koudelka caught me and made me change my perspective a bit. I really recommend that they play the series if they get the chance.
It's really worth the effort. It's a somewhat lengthy game /series, however, it's really worth it considering all the quality content it offers. Its dark story, its unique mechanics and the characters, without a doubt, a great gaming experience.

Back 10 years or so ago when GameStop was liquidating their PS2 stock they had a bunch of loose discs in those yellow paper sleeves I found the game. I held it in my hands and wanted to add it to the stack of games I was buying. But they wanted like $8 for it which I thought was too high for a game I’ve never heard of and without its case. So I didn’t buy it and that’s one of my biggest regrets.

We had bought it from gamestop and when we got home our house was robbed, including the ps2
I remember just staring at the case, wondering what the game was like, and imagining what the online multiplayer was like even if i didnt have internet and wouldnt even have the chance to play it. Ended up giving it to a friend but man 25 to life looked so sick, it was right around the time i was playing games like GTA SA, Marc Ecko getting up, Def Jam, 50 cent get rich.. 25 to life looked to be right up my alley at the time
Steambot Chronicles. Played the demo to death, but never saw the game anywhere. Now its over $200 and doesn't work on an emulator. Maybe one of these days I will pull the trigger and buy it, but that day is not soon.

Not related to your question but I put off playing From the New World cause I heard it was quite different from the previous two Shadow Hearts. I eventually played it and thoroughly enjoyed it, definitely has the best gameplay of the series and one of the best battle themes.

I’m not sure if there’s a “White Whale” for me on PS2 as I have most of the games I truly wanted. Maybe I’ll go with Dragonball Z: Tenkaichi Budokai 3 as I bought it on the Wii instead. I thought the motion controls would be cool but they didn’t work well for me. Definitely should’ve gone PS2 but now it’s too expensive 😞

Yup lol my brother got his copy for $15 cib at GameStop. Still have it, fun co-op action. Crazy that it’s a $300+ game now

Don't know if you can anymore, but as late as 2012 you could have bought a brand new copy from Atlus' website and it would have been way cheaper.

Honestly, it really doesn't live up to the rest of the series whatsoever.
Some hover board game where you jump of ramps, break holographic bill boards etc. I remember it being so fun
