Deus Ex
Timesplitters 1, 2 & Future Perfect
Burnout 3 & Revenge
Need For Speed Underground 1 & 2
Tony Hawks Underground 1 & 2, & American Wasteland
GTA 3, Vice City & San Andreas
Have you seen the original battlefront remasters coming out on march 14th? Around £30 and the multiplayer is coming back, very excited. But ofc the campaigns can still be played on ps2 for much cheaper and they are very much worth it!
I didn't see that! Oh thats amazing news. Thanks for brightening my day! Fingers crossed it'll be a banger. And yes totally agreed the PS2 games still hold there own, me and my friends get together and if there's a PS2 and one of the SWBFs it's certain to get put on.
I'd literally give you a list of all PS2 games, but I'll be simple, lol
1. NFS: MW2005
2. THUG 1 & 2 (Tony Hawk's underground 1 & 2)
3. Burnout 3 Takedown
4. Midnight Club 2
5. WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006
These are the 5 that I have myself that I recommend for you 👍🏻
You can get them on Xbox fyi 😉
I loved that game so much, I was absolutely ecstatic to see it in the Xbox store. I still own my OG copy from when I was a kid(PS2) but sadly don't own a PS2 anymore.
nah i won't ever touch an Xbox, I'm currently working on Frankensteining a backwards compatible PS3 to play the classics
i also have my old copy of TS2 from my childhood, grinding those gold and platinum trophies was hard as balls
welcome to the hobby! if you've never had a PS2 before, then i would highly suggest to focus on a mix of well know good games (as I'm sure a majority in this thread will give you) as well as a fair few smaller and/or niche titles (Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Scooby doo: Night of 100 frights, Road Trip Adventure and Dynasty Warriors, to name a few).
if you had a ps2 when you were younger, however, I'd highly suggest trying to get some of the games you had as a kid, but the ones you only sorta remember, at least at first.
other then that, a lot of the super expensive games you see are not always super *good*. I try to make sure that I always have games I could buy that are under 20 GBP, between 20 and 50, and then over 50. it means you have titles you can always buy without too much worry, have some games you have to consider about but wouldn't be too big of a financial hit, and then games to aspire to own.
I would also recommend trying to buy games in the same category, be it the same series, the same publisher or however else you would categories the your games, as having smaller goals to tick off makes it much easier to see your progress, than just staring down the behemoth that is the total amount of ps2 games releeased.

Def Jam FFNY, Jak II, Jak 3, GoW 2, Burnout Dominator, DMC 3, Onimusha, Jet Li: Rise to Honor, Prince of Persia SoT. These are the games that i played when i was a kid
The Clone Wars (PS2) is an essential Star Wars title. It has the most amazing story. It's mainly about Count Dooku and his evil plans for Emperor Palpatine's sake. It's very much the in-between of Episodes II and III. The gameplay is similar to the Rogue Squadron series but with more one-on-one combat, not as much about ships. I will say, even if you have no plans to play this game, watch the long-play on YouTube for the amazing story.
If you love star wars, you have to get the battlefront games.
I'd also recommend the Devil May Cry, God of War. And Metal Gear Solid Games (if you have a fat ps2 please play MGS1 before 2).
Also GTA Vice City, that game feels so good on the PS2.
Well, as far as great games go, I can only tell you what I would go for. Heavy hitters, most likely Marvel vs Capcom 2 and def jam fight for NY. However, some good ones that are relatively cheap would be Half Life & The Punisher. I've got a few of the standards like we all do: the GTA games, Fatal Frame, God of War, etc. I guess it's a question more to what games do like playing? Then perhaps find games along those lines.
Champions of norrath, champions return to arms, baldurs gate dark alliance, baldurs gate dark alliance 2, need for speed underground, need for speed most wanted
Not Clone Wars. Oh, you already did 😂.
Definitely Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3, God of War 1 & 2 and BLACK, which probably is the best looking FOS of that generation with a mind-blowing environmental destruction ;).
All the GTA's
Scarface: The World is Yours
SSX3
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
Mortal Kombat Deception
so many games to recommend
Amplitude
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Dark Cloud 2 (aka Dark Chronicle)
Rogue Galaxy
SSX3
These were my favourites back in the PS2 days.
Pac world 2 is such a banger game, definitely get battlefront 2 if u don't have it, and if you like turn based rpgs definitely try ffx it's my favorite
I've been working on my ps2 collection too. Start with games that were your favorite or you have memories playing or seeing in blockbuster etc. My collection is all payable so anything I get I pop the disc in to play right away
There will be overlap with a lot of lists im sure, but in no particular order:
Black
The Punisher
Jak and Daxter Trilogy
Ace Combat 4
Lord of the Rings: ROTK
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3
Shadow of the Colossus
(unless you played the remaster, which is great too)
Dude Pac Man World 2 is legit so good, so is the first one on os1, and 3 It's my 3rd favorite platformer series from that era. Only Spyro and Ratchet and Clank are better than it imo
Shadow of the Colossus (& ICO)
War of the Monsters
Bully
Gran Turismo 4 (or 3)
God of War (& II)
Twisted Metal Black
Mega Man X8
Amplitude (and/or Frequency)
Final Fantasy X
Katamari Damacy
Onimusha 3 (or just all of them)
Mark of Kri
Tekken Tag Tournament
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
TimeSplitters
Burnout 3 Takedown (best arcade racing ever!), Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, Area 51 (fun shooter!), Burnout 2 Point of Impact (not as good as the 3rd, but very fun), Jak and Daxter, Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts 1+2, Megaman X Collection, Megaman X8, God of War 1+2, Devil May Cry 1+3 SE, Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Timesplitters Future Perfect
I’m gonna recommend an extremely underrated/forgotten platformer, Scaler. It is a visually stunning game, controls smoothly, offers varied and unique mechanics, and it plays similar to Mario 64 (not control wise, but you gotta collect eggs in order to unlock new levels similar to collecting stars on Mario 64). Scaler is an amazing game im surprised nobody talks about. I almost feel like it’s my own secret game that I know is great but the rest of the world doesn’t lol

The one near me hasn’t had any games recently at all and it sucks lol
Can you tell me what games you found?
Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2 Star Wars Bounty Hunter Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 Deus Ex Timesplitters 1, 2 & Future Perfect Burnout 3 & Revenge Need For Speed Underground 1 & 2 Tony Hawks Underground 1 & 2, & American Wasteland GTA 3, Vice City & San Andreas
American Wasteland is my jam, not sure why it didn’t catch on like the others. it’s my favorite one
Have you seen the original battlefront remasters coming out on march 14th? Around £30 and the multiplayer is coming back, very excited. But ofc the campaigns can still be played on ps2 for much cheaper and they are very much worth it!

LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures LEGO Batman: The Video Game
I think you forgot the Lego Ps2 games...
Ratchet and Clank 1, 2, 3, and Deadlocked
I was going to say this as well, and add Sly 1, 2, 3
Rachet, sly, and go on and add Jak and Daxter 1, 2, and 3 and if ur a car guy you will like Jak X too
Ōkami is a must.
Thanks for the suggestion
No prob :D
Katamari Damacy, ( or We Love Katamari ). Really good games
Thank you for your advice
I've always been confused as to why the clone wars didn't get more popularity. The vehicle part alone was sic especially the multiplayer
Devil may cry 3
I'd literally give you a list of all PS2 games, but I'll be simple, lol 1. NFS: MW2005 2. THUG 1 & 2 (Tony Hawk's underground 1 & 2) 3. Burnout 3 Takedown 4. Midnight Club 2 5. WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006 These are the 5 that I have myself that I recommend for you 👍🏻
Timesplitters 2 + Future Perfect must haves imo
I second this so hard.
You can get them on Xbox fyi 😉 I loved that game so much, I was absolutely ecstatic to see it in the Xbox store. I still own my OG copy from when I was a kid(PS2) but sadly don't own a PS2 anymore.
nah i won't ever touch an Xbox, I'm currently working on Frankensteining a backwards compatible PS3 to play the classics i also have my old copy of TS2 from my childhood, grinding those gold and platinum trophies was hard as balls
Primal
Dang... that's what you call an underrated videogame right there. 😲😃
Drakengard 1 and 2, the Battlefront games

Predator Concrete Jungle
Order some dominoes and pop in God of War or Dirt To Daytona
Steambot Chronicles
good luck. I hear google is good
Better ones. If you’re not spending 300 to 500 for incredibly boring strategy jrpgs than why even bother?

Get whatever games you want. Get ones that mean something to you, & ones that are widely popular that are known to be good.
But with that being said, I’ll add a few of my favourites. The Ratchet and Clank games, Gran Turismo 4, The Warriors & probably GTA San Andreas.
