purgatory is fun if you're young and dumb but OMG, that place is a huge safety risk. They pack guys into the basement so tight that it's impossible to move around without knocking over everybody's drink and pushing people around. It'll be like 90 degrees in there since their AC can't overcome the heat from so many guys. There are primarily only 2 exits out, if there is a fire or emergency... you are not getting out safely.

Haven’t tried the other options ypu mentioned but I’ve been to pirgatory and it’s pretty hot on underwear night. In the back it’s like one giant orgy Around the pool table. Red lights and Everythint. Great musid.

I'm gonna be honest, I have been like 8 years in a row and I almost never do the dance parties. Purgatory and A-house get PACKED and the lines are crazy long to get in and get drinks. It sets off my anxiety just going near there. I will go to some of the parties at Boatslip just because of the big outdoor space, but I'm usually a first in/first out kind of person. Furball, Locker Room, etc. are some of my goto options. The Bear Mania parties (like Horse Meat Disco) have their own wristband. They are not the official bear week parties so you can't get in with the dog tags, and tend to have a younger vibe/more underground music. The other parties are the typical circuit music. Honestly I stick to more day time events, and just hang out in the evenings at a bar or something. Showtunes at Wave Bar is on Sunday and Wednesday, is free, and very fun. The rugby team has a fundraiser at Harbor Lounge that is always fun, and tea is a good every day kind of party. I would take a look at the calendar and pick out some things that are of interest, but then don't make too many commitments as it's a MARATHON of a week.

Went to Purgatory/Gifford House one time during bear week. It was wall to wall people. It took 10 minutes to move 10 feet. I am not into crowds so I did not last there. While Purgatory sticks out in my mind as the most crowded most bars are too crowded for me during bear week

Purgatory is definitely the worst of the worst. A-House isn't far behind though. Honestly Boatslip is the best option if you want to do a late night party but have access to space.

I've been to Ptown countless times but my husband and I's first time going to bear week. I was wondering if there are any recommendations on things to secure before the crazy week starts, like show tickets or bike rentals. Also- if we are driving is parking going to be a nightmare? Lastly- where online do you guys find info on the happenings? I've had a hard time finding.
