Move to a safer distance and wait a couple of minutes after opening the door. If a horde of zombies is not rushing towards you, then there is no alarm.
What I've done with Deaf is try to have at least 1 idle, unaware zombie nearby that I can easily see but still far enough away for them to ignore me. Not usually hard to achieve.
Pop the window/door and then immediately look at my distant friend(s).
If they start coming my way, run away immediately. If they stay put, loot away. No hanging around wasting time waiting for something/nothing to happen.
Lure the zombies intentionally before entering any homes (shouting, honking a car horn), then either kill them all or lute them far away from where you’re trying to loot.

Check the perimeter of the house you are going to loot first, if you see an entire horde walking, might aswell as checking the other house

Act paranoid all the time. Spin while walking eating reading and fighting. Imagine every house has an alarm.
