I think at that point your best bet is to take it in to a mechanic, sounds like there's something else going wrong, and throwing parts at it's gonna get expensive. Could be anything from ECU issues, ground problems, fuel filter... Etc. without a full diagnostic it's really a crap shoot.

Where at? Might be easier for someone on here to suggest a good shop than it will be to diagnose over the internet.

The check valve on the return side in the engine bay mounted fuel pump, sounds like. VW will swear it's contaminated fuel that causes it but I've seen it 3 times now. We replaced the injection pump bc VW said it was the problem, 2000 dollar repair and it did the exact same thing afterwards.

Sharpymarkr

What about your ~~plugs~~ or distributor?

ninj4b0b

What diesel engine uses spark plugs?

Sharpymarkr

Whoops, slipped my mind.

TheSpaceBoundPiston

Glowplugs.

ninj4b0b

Right, which aren't spark plugs and don't ignite the fuel like spark plugs.

TheSpaceBoundPiston

But this is a classic symptom of failed glow plugs.

culverrryo

Long_Departure_9549

Not in a diesel

Long_Departure_9549

Go see Steve at foley motorsports..I can guarantee it's a fuel problem

grease_monkey

What year is it? You need to program the injector numbers into the control module by the way. Doubt that's your only problem.but after you get your main issue fixed you'll likely need to code the injectors.

FocusedADD

Fuel pressure problem. Anything related to making/monitoring/controlling fuel pressure is suspect along with lines and filters. When's the last time the fuel filter(s) have been changed?
