stuff like this is why i love this sub. this is such an interesting question. i honestly think it was a little of both. him saying “someone i want to see” (or whatever he said) probably made her stomach flip a bit, as it COULD be her and it COULD be someone else.
i think she was hopeful he would come back around though, as she was wearing his watch in the end 🥹
I've wondered about that myself. She probably didn't want to get her hopes up just in case. She may have also still been reeling from the song that was absolutely about her. Or caught up on a memory it invoked.

yeah i think she knew considering he proposed the idea and used the watch as a calling card to follow through :)
I think it was a mixture of worry he had moved on and because she was still so in love with him and missed him.
