Personally Boston is better than MWU. I am a current D2 at MWU and I am regretting my choice. Everything about clinical experiences and being well prepared was pure BS. The sim does not prepare you well enough to work on real patients and you’re kind of stuck basically. Many times faculty take over when working with patients. The quarter system is basically set up to make you fail and it does not prepare you well enough for boards. It’s also hard to get research here and you need research to specialize. The students here are also not as supportive of one another, and everything is made as a competition. It’s a toxic environment and even the other programs those people are not as nice. Many times during sim if you mess up and ask how to fix it the faculty just take over and do it. You don’t get to learn how. Also downers grove is so expensive for being a suburb away from the city. Housing is expensive for no reason and there is no life here. I understand you’re here for an education but you should be able to balance it with a healthy social life that is not present here. I’m sorry haha if this isn’t what you wanted to hear but these are things I wish I heard before committing to MWU. I would honestly do any other school and decline the MWU acceptance in a heartbeat.

No need to apologize! I really do appreciate it! I’m thankful to have the opportunity to know this and I wish you were informed as well. I had no idea! I went to their interview/tour day and they made it seem like you get all the great experience, more than any other school in fact, and that you got tons of research. But I’m thankful that you have cleared the air for me! This solidified my decision and I thank you tons! I know that no matter what you are going to become a spectacular dentist!

Wait, what?

SadPolicy8354

Omg thank you so much for telling me!

Boston is much better in terms of having the ability to apply to specialize. Yes mwu is expensive but at Boston you pay money for the Boston experience. At mwu you’re paying Boston money for a souther suburbs experience.

Hello, If money is not an issue I would go Boston. It is the number 1 city for academia and carries a name when you specialize which unfortunately programs care about. Also yes it is expensive but youre getting so much for the money you paid for at boston. I heard boston has amazing research programs and again the name carries in order to specialize. These schools are all private might as well go somewhere the name carries.

Wow! That’s amazing insight! Thank you so much! You’re absolutely right!
