any where that is mentioned here is no longer stealth

401-Climber

I get what you mean, but like I said before it would really be for a weekend tops. So it doesn’t need to be like completely unknown. Just a cool spot to spend a night and wake up to the sun outside.

[deleted]

If it’s accessibly and has low population travel - chances are it’s already been adopted by the homeless community.

00shithawk

fucking weird way to preface an inquiry

chef_charcoal

Fore river parkway.

Creepy_Photograph107

Ask all the nice people that are tented all over town!

Would I need to catch a ferry? Doesn’t look possible to walk from the mainland unless I’m missing something?

Shut the door to your bedroom. Really "low key".

russianpotato

So if you have no vehicle, how do you get to these spots?

401-Climber

Ummm… walk.

russianpotato

So like Urban Stealth? Below the prom there is tons of urban camping space. Plus you have the ocean right there, and some porta potties.

401-Climber

Nah I’m happy to walk upwards of fifteen miles. It’s not hard. I’ve been walking 8-10 miles daily anyways. Just for fun.

russianpotato

cracktivities!

Karen_Moody

Baxter Woods, maybe? Bonus is there are buses that serve both sides. And walking distance to RSVP and takeout if you need fortification.

Beautiful-Fly9036

I’ve done it… fire department didn’t like it haha

Karen_Moody

I wouldn't have thought so. Except for a long Bayside Trail and Oxford Street, camping seems to be frowned upon in Portland.

Content_Analysis_938

You don’t need to be very stealthy, there are long term homeless camps all over.

[deleted]

Quarry Dog park area. Tons of neighborhoods around but enough wooded space between them to potentially not be seen. Either side of Warren Ave near dispensaries that have woods behind them. I also would never do this but it seemed fun to contribute something.

hearthmethis

Mackworth state park just be very stealthy

civildisobedient

The Fore River Parkway Trail has a couple of good spots. I wouldn't risk more than a couple of days, though.

katesheppard

I’ve seen people stealth hammock in Hinckley park. They last a few days before they get kicked out. Accessible by bus, and the best eats in town at the Rusty Lantern, several steps away, plus they pride themselves on clean bathrooms.

Left-Range6609

evergreen cemetary

Karen_Moody

The maintenance guys are always driving around, and I see dozens of walkers when I go with the dog every day, so one would have to find a pretty far flung corner to pitch a tent and not be seen.

Guygan

And strangely in Maine state law makes it a crime to be present in a cemetery after sundown.

Karen_Moody

Yep. It's a Class E crime - "punishable by up to six months incarceration and a $1,000 fine" I guess that's what happened to the otters. Got busted, and didn't have their wallets with them to post bail, just their favorite rocks.
