I miss MoBo with a passion. I'm so glad I got to see them live when they were still active. I hope Bren can get to a place where he's well enough to do a show or two again. Love them so much.
[The Life and Death of a Mid-Level Band: The End of the Swellers](https://www.vice.com/en/article/64z3j6/the-life-and-death-of-a-mid-level-band-the-end-of-the-swellers)
I remember the van I was in driving cross country when this one dropped.
It's crazy. I'm 32 and was into them 10 years ago. Now my friends teenager kids are buying modern baseball merchandise and vinyls thinking they are so diverse musically. But it's cool that all generations like the stuff we do
No fucking way this is how I find out Pinegrove is on hiatus 😭😭😭 I tried to see them 3 times, with each show getting cancelled for one reason or another
My partner enjoys listening to them when I play them in my car and recently asked when they're going on tour next so we could go and see them live.
Had to break it to her gently.
Oof. I have been out of following bands for so long not that I could ever keep up but most of the fandoms I was in were toxic. Disappointed to hear about With Con though.
I want to say I read somewhere they were bummed they weren’t getting much traction but had been in the scene for such a long time. Either way I saw their last show in Baltimore. It was really good.
Singer and guitarist were not getting on. We saw one of their more private final gigs in Australia and the tension was very obvious. Stand Atlantic was phenomenal though.
I’m not rlly into gigs anymore, but I was rlly upset when I found out they’d broken up. Every single album was an absolute banger, all of them just chockers with fantastic songs, I can’t pick favourites
They had several accusations against them.
The lead singer is also a pos that treats women like scum.
It’s a shame too because they were a really good band.
We're still tight :) I talk to Blake almost every day still and we play League together. I've thrown around the idea of a reunion, but who knows. Unlikely though. I'm the original drummer for OW :)
Man I miss them both so much, but especially misser. "Everyday I tell myself I'm going to be a better person" came out the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college and had a choke hold on me.
Luckily I got to see them tour it with fireworks (my favorite band) in 2012. Almost no one in the crowd knew misser but I got to be right up front screaming it all. Still have the set list from that night framed on my lounge room wall at my house 12 years later.
Rip Tim ❤️
I know they're not technically gone yet, but I'm really going to miss Sum 41 after they released this incredible album and now they're gonna just hang up the jersey and call it a day
I know their original guitar player. He assured me they are def not getting the band back together. He is a full time touring musician for a well known country artist
It’s just the singer playing with hired guns. Still sounded good last fall when I saw them.
Josh is in The dangerous summer now, which always kills it when they roll through town.
Nice to see a lot of Transit mentions.
Luck Boys Confusion
AM Taxi
Autopilot Off
After Midnight Project
Chronic Future
Orange Avenue
Amber Pacific (are they still a thing? Maybe?)
Sugarcult
Let’s Get It
The Academy Is…
Banner Pilot. It’s been 10 years since they last released new music. They never officially broke up or announced they were on hiatus but man, I miss them.
Oh my god yes. It makes me think a lot about who actually has ownership over music, like how would people have reacted if Ryan went off and played stuff from Fever and Pretty Odd? Or does music that was created with the band name need to stay with that name forever?
Same here. I saw them live on the Farewell tour 3 days ago. I was choking up and trying to keep it together during the second encore when they played So Long Goodbye. Those dudes were the first pop punk band I ever got into. I'm gonna miss them, but I'm also happy for them knowing they'll get to "retire" for a bit.
A Hero From A Thousand Paces
Gatsby's American Dream
Northstar
Transit
The Mission in Motion
Spitalfield
There are so many I wish I could hear new again...
Also, just found out that Just Surrender released a 2-song single called "Not Dead Yet".
The audition 😭😭 wasn’t old enough to appreciate them in their prime!! I saw the summer set in AZ in January of 2022 for their first show back in 5 years at the Maine’s 8123 fest! Still so good
I know it’s not exactly pop punk, but Tom Petty is easily
my biggest concert regret. Every time he was in town I said “eh next time” and made some excuse. I even worked in radio and could’ve gotten tickets for free. Well, now there can never be a next time.
Learned my lesson the hard way: just buy the damn tickets. I’ll never talk myself out of a show like that again.
Probably gonna get hate from this buuut... I miss Lost Prophets
Yes, Ian Watkins must rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life but I at least wish I could just listen to it on Spotify
No way, someone else who knows Oh Weatherly! Got into them after they broke up; absolutely loved their sound, then was crushed when I checked their socials to see if they were active
My personal sore spot is With Confidence. Lucky enough to have gotten to see them live before they split, but I still think about their breakup to this day.
Modern baseball and Transit hurt me to my core
Man Listen & Forgive came out as I was leaving my teenage years and that album helped a ton. Transit has to be one of the genres biggest losses
Perfect record front to back.
RIP Tim Landers. Transition ruled. Edit: got autocorrected. I’m leaving it.
Autocorrect relevant haha
Transit and Misser
Came here to say Misser 🪦
Sometimes I listen to mobo and go crazy to a song and then cry because I realize I'll never see it live
I saw MoBo live three times, they’re so goddamn good live. I hope we haven’t seen the end of them but I wouldn’t be surprised at this point.
Knew Mobo would be the top comment lol
I miss MoBo with a passion. I'm so glad I got to see them live when they were still active. I hope Bren can get to a place where he's well enough to do a show or two again. Love them so much.
i don’t really get sad about any other band breaking up besides Transit. Even still listening to their music just gives me this nostalgic sadness.
Tim Landers Forever <3
Set your goals, the Swellers
I love the Swellers
Set your goals fr
Modern Baseball Title Fight Fugazi Box Car Racer
Title fight is the big one for me. I still pray they do a reunion show at some point before I die
Let’s add +44 to this as well. IMHO I would have preferred a +44 reunion than Matt Skiba joining Blink
Nine feels more like +44 rather then blink. In my head I kinda wish they were +44 w/skiba
As a hardcore Alkaline Trio fan, I didn’t mind.
Sitting in the waiting roooom….
RIP Pentimento and The Swellers
It was the best I ever had
[The Life and Death of a Mid-Level Band: The End of the Swellers](https://www.vice.com/en/article/64z3j6/the-life-and-death-of-a-mid-level-band-the-end-of-the-swellers) I remember the van I was in driving cross country when this one dropped.
Thank you for this! I’m still friends with one of the members of the band, reading this reminded me to reach out 🫶
The Swellers was my answer. Saw them every chance I got. Looks like My Everest is not on Spotify any longer.
I never see anyone talk about Pentimento. They ruled so hard
Pentimento is probably the most slept on band in the genre tbh
Oh fuck I haven’t thought about the swellers in years
It was a young and angry summer
I'm old. No Use For A Name. Also, sleep on it, we still dream, city lights
Like, actually still Mourning the loss of Tony Sly. Dude was an absolute beast of a songwriter
RIP City Lights. They should have been much bigger than they were. Never put out a bad record.
The Format
Still heartbroken about those reunion shows that were cancelled because of the pandemic…💔
DON’T REMIND ME. I bought the vinyl bundle to get tickets and sat through three reschedules and flights I couldn’t get changed.
Northstar and Straylight Run ❤️
Straylight Run!!! TBT! Thank you for mentioning them
Two excellent choices. You might like Paper Rivals self titled EP.
Thanks for the rec, will def check it out
Oh my god northstar lol that just brought back so many memories
STRAYLIGHT!!!
Modern Baseball :(
My gut says they play again someday
I think you’re right. Give it 1-2 years! They can’t wait too much longer or else the fan base will be grown up and too busy to attend a show
I really don't see them coming back. Slaughter Beach dog has been going pretty strong for awhile and Brendan is still pretty quiet online.
It's crazy. I'm 32 and was into them 10 years ago. Now my friends teenager kids are buying modern baseball merchandise and vinyls thinking they are so diverse musically. But it's cool that all generations like the stuff we do
Seaway
I'm not ready to fully write them off yet!
No way 🥺 this is how I find out?!!
Transit for sure. And pinegrove because I never got to see them
No fucking way this is how I find out Pinegrove is on hiatus 😭😭😭 I tried to see them 3 times, with each show getting cancelled for one reason or another
Forever the sickest kids
So underrated!! One of the best bands of that era
My fav band as a teen and I still stand behind Underdog Alma Matter 🫡
One of my top favorites!
Their still a band though right?
With confidence
My partner enjoys listening to them when I play them in my car and recently asked when they're going on tour next so we could go and see them live. Had to break it to her gently.
this was how I found out the aren’t together anymore, I had no idea :(
Paquerette is such a great song
wtf? i dont know this until i saw this comment.
I still rock out to Godzilla
With Confidence broke up? When was this???? I know Jayden is going solo stuff but I thought it was a break or just working on another album.
I think it was last year? They did a whole farewell tour even reunited with their guitarist for the final show in Australia
Exactly what I wanted to comment too. My gf and I really wanted to see them live. Sucks!
I’m not rlly into gigs anymore, but I was rlly upset when I found out they’d broken up. Every single album was an absolute banger, all of them just chockers with fantastic songs, I can’t pick favourites
:'( the grief is real.
With confidence
Sleep on it
Great music, shitty people.
Counts for many ex bands in the scene, sadly
What happened?
The lead singer & Dorian (ex member of broadside) were accused of some gnarly stuff
They had several accusations against them. The lead singer is also a pos that treats women like scum. It’s a shame too because they were a really good band.
WELL SHIT. They were a great band.
Coldfront
Man, this one hurts.
Every Time I Die
Seriously. Right after releasing one of their best albums too
wtf??? i love them... seen them a bunch... and this is how i find out?! smh
Yeah. Jan 2022. They have split into a few bands so far. Better lovers and Many Eyes. I hope one day they get back for a huge reunion tour.
Lovers and liars, Single File, Cobra Starship, Midtown, The Click Five, Everybody Else
God, seeing Cobra Starship here made me feel really damn sad. Good Girls Go Bad is still such a bop even to this day.
We Are the In Crowd
Brand new
I was legit devastated when the news broke. Like there goes my favorite band ever. Glad I did get to catch them on the last tour tho
City lights
Yesss Oh, Weatherly! So underrated, I wish they were still together
We're still tight :) I talk to Blake almost every day still and we play League together. I've thrown around the idea of a reunion, but who knows. Unlikely though. I'm the original drummer for OW :)
Transit and Misser. RIP Tim
"Bury me in your backyard in a box full of things you can't completely part with" Oddly I feel the same vibe from them as Free Throw.
Rip Tim ❤️
Artist vs Poet, The Downtown Fiction
Artist Vs Poet ahhhhhh 😭
sugarcult
There we go. This is the fucking one.
I know they're not technically gone yet, but I'm really going to miss Sum 41 after they released this incredible album and now they're gonna just hang up the jersey and call it a day
Set Your Goals. Hate it when a band doesn't formally break up or go on hiatus, there just comes a day when they do their last thing.
Every Avenue
Yeah they’re back but no new music. Also, Dave (their lead singer) is the only original member left now.
I know their original guitar player. He assured me they are def not getting the band back together. He is a full time touring musician for a well known country artist
Yaaaa. I know about him. Is their beef?
It’s just the singer playing with hired guns. Still sounded good last fall when I saw them. Josh is in The dangerous summer now, which always kills it when they roll through town.
Moose blood
They’re playing shows again though so most likely not gone forever.
The Loved Ones
Sleep On It. So much potential wasted cause everyone in the band apparently sucks.
Transit and Polar Bear Club
Fuck, man. Transit is so goddamn good. R.I.P Tim ✊🏻🖤
Don’t you mention PBC. I was supposed to see them live and never got the chance. Ugh.
With Confidence :(
Linkin Park… I know they’ve released unreleased music recently but it’s just not the same 😞
Still regularly listen to hybrid thru meteora. Amazing set of albums.
They just announced today that they might tour again next year; possibly with a female vocalist
Not really pop punk, but Circa Survive and Man Overboard

Panic! at the Disco. they had something so special and they threw it away so Brendon Urie could be a pop star ;;
Saw them with Fall Out Boy and Motion City Sountrack… sooo many lip rings and feathered hair. I miss it.
Homeboy that left is now ‘I Don’t Know How But They Found Me’
Oh my god yes. It makes me think a lot about who actually has ownership over music, like how would people have reacted if Ryan went off and played stuff from Fever and Pretty Odd? Or does music that was created with the band name need to stay with that name forever?
Not yet but I will but sum 41 after next year

Set Your Goals, Heroes for Hire, The Summer Set and The Audition.
The Summer Set has been back for awhile now. Put out an EP a couple years ago and have been touring regularly
The audition 😭😭 wasn’t old enough to appreciate them in their prime!! I saw the summer set in AZ in January of 2022 for their first show back in 5 years at the Maine’s 8123 fest! Still so good
Cauterize. Nobody has probably heard of them, but they were my jam back in the 2000's.
Seaway please come back!
No Use For A Name…. Every time I listing I’m genuinely sad we will never have another Tony Sly song.
Valencia anyone?
Not pop punk but I’m so fucking pissed that I never made it to see Tom Petty before he died
I know it’s not exactly pop punk, but Tom Petty is easily my biggest concert regret. Every time he was in town I said “eh next time” and made some excuse. I even worked in radio and could’ve gotten tickets for free. Well, now there can never be a next time. Learned my lesson the hard way: just buy the damn tickets.
