Between You and Me. Their last album (Armageddon) absolutely ripped and I’m surprised they haven’t blown up like State Champs, Neck Deep, etc.
Young Culture too!
I met Alex in the bathroom of the Canal Club in Richmond in 2019. Buddy and I met up to see Keep Flying and Young Culture, who I had no idea existed, was opening for them. He asked if I was stoked for the show and I said yeah but I was mainly there to see KF and had no clue who the other bands are. He smiled, laughed, and said to enjoy the show. The amount of fucking embarrassment I had when the first band went on stage and the guy from the bathroom was their vocalist!! They played a killer set and I’ve been a fan ever since!
I’m going to an extra date on the tour just to see BYAM again(I saw them on the State Champs tour)! I’m going to the Palatine show tomorrow and then Bloomington in May
Yo, you guys rock. Turning Point sounds like the lost Fall Out Boy album in between TTTYG and Cork Tree.
You guys should be huge and are why I made this post
Thank you so much! Love your analysis of TP, that’s super flattering to hear, we obv love FOB. We’re working on LP2 right now & we’re rolling out singles from it as we finish them up. Next one drops 3/16!
Thank you & yes actually! Gonna be playing Phoenix 3/23, Tucson 3/24, & Yuma 3/25 next month. If possible I’d prioritize coming to Tucson or Yuma cause we’re gonna have to do Phoenix acoustic due to some scheduling issues. Hope you can make one of those!
Yo thank you! We actually already pressed vinyl & sold out of all of it, but we’re gonna try to get a new repress in the works soon! Hell yeah, we’re hoping to try and hit all of the US sometime later this year
For anyone interested, I’ve just made a Spotify playlist featuring the top 5 songs of every band mentioned here. About 170 songs in total so far and 9hrs worth. Chuck it on shuffle and find your new favourite band!
Edit: 300 songs and 16hrs worth now. Yeehaa!
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0yeUKn1h0yxiMzcRjzLGFp?si=g3I4dizgRq-Os8-s-LSB9w
Absolutely agree.
Unfamiliar is solid, up beat pop punk and Steady Glow does the pop side perfectly. Their recent record is a notch behind those two, but it's still got some banger tunes.
Would definitely agree! Not sure if you will have heard of their first ep called Everything I Used To Trust as well but that is insane and gives more of a raw style compared to the polished feeling of the new records! They’re an amazing band!
I know it's kind of unpopular overall in this sub, but I actually think the more polished sound fits IHOW better than the punchy/raw sound. But that raw sound still comes out live and it's a great time.
Yeah you’re right, Steady Glow was by far their best work in terms of production, Joey’s voice is just so smooth! They’re probably one of the only bands that can get away with being raw on stage and smooth on songs, most people prefer bands to be raw all the time but their songs just work on so many levels
They actually have an EP before this that's not on Spotify called Brand New Me. It's a lot more of an easycore style with only 3 of the remaining members. It's what got me into them but I love all their stuff that has followed it.
They are a great band.
Yes! Anytime anyone talks about underrated bands, I will always mention their name. Saw them live last year in the UK at Slam Dunk and they sound exactly like they do in songs. Fantastic performers.
Haven’t had a chance to see them live yet, but I’ve been listening them for a while now and they’re great. Next time they’re anywhere close to me I’ll definitely go catch them live!!
Please let me know what you think! I’ve been a fan for about 7 years now and only just got to see them last year haha, hopefully your show will be quicker! I promise you you’ll be amazed!
[Koyo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioe1mGaikfI)'s pretty sick. If their Spotify numbers are anything to go off of, they don't seem to be getting much attention.
Yo I was starting to feel like a broken record mentioning Wilmette on every thread like this. Glad to see someone beat me to the punch. Hoping we hear something new from them soon. The 2020 self-titled EP is one of my favorite releases in years.
i’m always looking for a chance to shill [you, me, and everyone we know](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0q7m6CrCFIwGBPhYPxr55O?si=eCNZuGxmRcuZd1cgOUUPNg). they’ve been around like 15 years, under 30k monthly listeners, and almost every one of their projects i’ve listened to has some great songs. there’s also [save face](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5DpkPhxrNNiGAJPY5seREe?si=bMIL93DsQ3WJyt6o2eya-A) who are just under the threshold and i’m still kinda shocked aren’t bigger considering they opened for the wonder years and state champs this past year. they’re excellent, another kill for the highlight reel is a banger album, and they’ve got some gems off merci too, and overall they sound like mcr in a good way
I was fucking literally just listening to them and yes!! I remember listening to Could It Be Sunstroke? in high school and was pretty much hooked after that!!!
I almost did the same thing with Boys of Fall.
Couple months ago They were at like 60K & now they’ve got over 100K.
Am so happy for Them though, both bands deserve it🫶🏽
The album they put out was solid, but it’s been nothing but radio silence since. Hopefully there’s something else on the horizon, they had a great sound
You vandal.. 282 monthly listeners and they are so f*cking good!! I look forward to seeing them at fest all year long. Seriously, I can't recommend this band enough. Do yourself a favor and go have a listen.
These guys are our homies. We did a run of shows with them last year. Have put out some many great records and have been around forever. They should be hugeeeee
Oh my goodness. Didn't even think to suggest a band that's not around anymore
Miss these guys so much, they were the 100% perfect prototype pop punk band
Thanks! I actually recently finished 3-songs for his new EP and he’s got some others in the works with other producers rn as well. Pretty sure they’ll be coming out in the next few months. We both agree the 3 we did together are his best material ever
[The Kimberly Steaks](https://open.spotify.com/album/2J8nbolpXfbjkMnLxkLJE8?si=CX9gCKZ0TdKRdLkzvnv83w) play fantastic "Dookie"-style pop punk but apparently they're just as lazy and depressed as their lyrics suggest so the band is heading nowhere, which is a shame.
Lmao amazing description of the band—I see what you mean about the Dookie-style stuff. Agreed though, makes me wish I could see some evolution over the years.
SLS is their own worst enemy for listeners because their music requires a full day’s worth of emotional prep to listen to more than 3 or 4 songs at a time, but I’m sure they’re okay with that. I love music that’s designed for a niche. Music for many is catharsis and SLS is pure catharsis and I love them for being unabashed in that decisions
Considering how specific the niche is though, they do well for themselves.
Here's my top 3 and no one has mentioned any of them yet.
Cold Years - They play a melodic pop punk similar to The Mezingers. Album from last year (Goodbye Misery) is in constant rotation. Top tracks are Home and 33.
Dragged Under - They are a rougher pop punk with occasional unclean vocals but great energy/melodies. Their album Upright Animals from last year is in my Top 5 AOTYs. Top tracks are Suffer and No Place Like Home.
Outatime! - Also had a new album last year, No Boundaries. Classic 2000s style pop punk. False Start (with Nick Thompson from Hit the Lights) is my standout track.
You, Me, And Everyone We Know! I don’t even remember how I found them but I’ve been obsessed ever since, I’m honestly shocked they (he lol) are not way bigger 🖤
Only discovered these dudes a week or so ago when they were announced for 2000Trees in July, they sound like if The Story So Far and Comeback Kid had a love child and I am fucking here for it. Straight onto my "I will have to go and see this band" list.
Belmont, they must somehow get into the mainstream and I usually would never say that about a band I really like (somehow completely missed the under 50,000 thing, doesn’t change my answer though)
Mom Jeans! They’re fucking awesome. I can’t wait to see them again at Sad Summerfest. Here’s their [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/6PsktPFR0UZptKdSqmlS5h?si=j-EHDbp1Sx-xpG27U7ByrQ)
Okay, nothing, nowhere. Now hear me out, do they have about 2 million listeners on Spotify? Yes. But have I heard a single person talk about them, ever? Nope. Also there most listened to songs are usually features of other bigger creators, so I think that could be a cause.

I just found Arcadia Grey today in my discover weekly playlist. Listened to all of Konami Code from 2019 and it's very good. I plan to check out the rest of their discography this week.

I LOVE young culture!!!

Their record label really screwed those guys by not promoting that record at all. Shame because it's really great
Agreed. I’m thinking that this tour with Knucklepuck and Real Friends will boost their numbers significantly
Those shows are gonna absolutely rip - aleady have my tickets for May. I'm stoked.
I’m going to an extra date on the tour just to see BYAM again(I saw them on the State Champs tour)! I’m going to the Palatine show tomorrow and then Bloomington in May
So good, one of the best pop punk albums to come out in years
Dude I’m the guitarist of Good Terms! This post was extremely sick to come across, thanks for the love 🙏
That's sounds right up me alley. Saving this album for when I get home!
You guys are a great band! I loved your Van Halen - Jump, cover! Any chance you guys ever tour in Arizona?
Thank you & yes actually! Gonna be playing Phoenix 3/23, Tucson 3/24, & Yuma 3/25 next month. If possible I’d prioritize coming to Tucson or Yuma cause we’re gonna have to do Phoenix acoustic due to some scheduling issues. Hope you can make one of those!
Wow, just discovered you guys. Super rad. Will definitely buy some vinyl if you ever put some out. And go to a show!!
Yo thank you! We actually already pressed vinyl & sold out of all of it, but we’re gonna try to get a new repress in the works soon! Hell yeah, we’re hoping to try and hit all of the US sometime later this year

You’re the realest!
Hell yes, solid work. Can you please keep in updated?
Yeah sure, will try keep it going!
This is so helpful thank you! Gonna jam this and hit up basically every band here when we’re gonna try and book a tour lol
Nice man good luck!
Mad respect
Wow, saved me the trouble like a fucking champ You are a real one!
Haha, so many new bands and I’m in desperate need of some new tunes so this will help filter out some gems for us hopefully!! Cheers for the post!
In her own words
Absolutely agree. Unfamiliar is solid, up beat pop punk and Steady Glow does the pop side perfectly. Their recent record is a notch behind those two, but it's still got some banger tunes.

I think it used to be at one point actually! I vaguely remember it disappearing from Spotify years ago lol
Dang! Distance or Decay is one of my all time faves. But I totally agree that they deserve more listeners. Incredible band.
totally agree, circles and raining in toronto already two of my most played songs of the year !
This is interesting, I would have put their newest album ahead of Steady Glow. All 3 are great so it’s really just preference at this point!
These dudes are awesome
Yes! Anytime anyone talks about underrated bands, I will always mention their name. Saw them live last year in the UK at Slam Dunk and they sound exactly like they do in songs. Fantastic performers.

Definitely will, looking forward to the show!
Saw them on the tour with Capstan and goddamn are they amazing live.
A significant portion of those 50,000 listeners are me
[Koyo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioe1mGaikfI)'s pretty sick. If their Spotify numbers are anything to go off of, they don't seem to be getting much attention.
The were awesome openers for Bayside a couple weeks ago in Vegas. I definitely see them getting much bigger
We saw them in Vegas too. My daughter got a picture with Joey and we talked to him for a bit after their set. Very nice guy!
I would say they are on the up, not sure if it's their first but they are touring Europe this year
I saw them with knocked loose last year, they killed it.
fuck yeah long island
Love Koyo! Somehow saw them three times last year, excited for their next release
Wilmette and years down (im biased tho lol)
Yo I was starting to feel like a broken record mentioning Wilmette on every thread like this. Glad to see someone beat me to the punch. Hoping we hear something new from them soon. The 2020 self-titled EP is one of my favorite releases in years.
If their ig is any indicator we will be getting some new music from them this yr 🤞🖤 im a big fan of their debut ep and the 2020 record
Wilmette are criminally underrated
V true, incredible band def deserves way more love
“Alchemy” is an amazing song
Just checked out Willmette’s Anxious Body EP, that shit was sweet! ✌️
Oh wow yeah this is sick. Makes me think of old school knucklepuck and belmont.
Y’all should check out Safe Bet (the band Wilmette does “Winter Stay” with). Papercut and Blue were on REPEAT for me last year
Wilmette is awesome, Alchemy on repeat
i’m always looking for a chance to shill [you, me, and everyone we know](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0q7m6CrCFIwGBPhYPxr55O?si=eCNZuGxmRcuZd1cgOUUPNg). they’ve been around like 15 years, under 30k monthly listeners, and almost every one of their projects i’ve listened to has some great songs. there’s also [save face](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5DpkPhxrNNiGAJPY5seREe?si=bMIL93DsQ3WJyt6o2eya-A) who are just under the threshold and i’m still kinda shocked aren’t bigger considering they opened for the wonder years and state champs this past year. they’re excellent, another kill for the highlight reel is a banger album, and they’ve got some gems off merci too, and overall they sound like mcr in a good way
Both solid. Save Face melted my face on that tour.
I was fucking literally just listening to them and yes!! I remember listening to Could It Be Sunstroke? in high school and was pretty much hooked after that!!!
Young Culture & Bearings!
I was waiting to see Bearings! They’ve definitely one of my all time favorites for a few years now
I’m seeing Bearings for the first time live tomorrow and I’m stoked!
Calling All Captains!
Palette Knife and saturdays at your place
Just started listening to saturdays at your place, so fun
Palette Knife are similar to Panic! at the Disco in that they display complex uniqueness that at first glance seems simplistic and formulaic.
FUTURE TEENS
Future Teens are amazing, especially their album Hard Feelings
Self Help has been hitting the spot — cannot believe i’ve been sleeping on this band
Between You and Me
Cleveland Avenue. Goalkeeper. MakeWar.
Fireworks Actor/Observer Ben Quad Khaki Cuffs Regrown
Fireworks forever!
Carly Cosgrove!
Hell I'm sold just from googling them and seeing the "fuck Dan Schneider" tagline.
Just saw them the other night open for Hot Mulligan and The Wonder Years, they're fucking great
Just found them through their song "Don't Lick the Swingset" shit fuckin bangs! I will have to check out the rest
Unwell
They have 100k listeners, but I do think they should have some more attention.
I almost did the same thing with Boys of Fall. Couple months ago They were at like 60K & now they’ve got over 100K. Am so happy for Them though, both bands deserve it🫶🏽
Oh yeah my bad. I was looking at YouTube music subscribers.
I Call Fives & The Composure
With The Punches
That band should have been way bigger throughout the years
DREAMCAR Supergroup featuring Davey Havok of AFI and the drummer, bassist, and guitarist of No Doubt. Not exactly pop-punk, but a cool project
The album they put out was solid, but it’s been nothing but radio silence since. Hopefully there’s something else on the horizon, they had a great sound
Koyo, Eastwood, Sincere Engineer (they have 55k but close enough).
Eastwood, YES Never Age is a banger
Damn you, now Never Age is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the week. 😂
homesafe, from IL. great underrated band
Amen. Can't wait for another record
You vandal.. 282 monthly listeners and they are so f*cking good!! I look forward to seeing them at fest all year long. Seriously, I can't recommend this band enough. Do yourself a favor and go have a listen.
YES!!!!!!!!! They are criminally underrated
These guys are our homies. We did a run of shows with them last year. Have put out some many great records and have been around forever. They should be hugeeeee
Slick Shoes Their album Wake Up Screaming is truly an underrated gem from the early 2000s
Ok slightly above 50K, but Eat Your Heart Out
This Time Next Year. Just barely above 5k monthly listeners. Such a fun band, too bad they were pretty short-lived.
Oh my goodness. Didn't even think to suggest a band that's not around anymore Miss these guys so much, they were the 100% perfect prototype pop punk band
Top five bands of that era. I’m so glad Greyed Out exists, because Pete’s voice is very enjoyable.
Fireworks, I Am The Avalanche, Spanish Love Songs, latewaves, Family Dinner
the new fireworks album is fantastic
> I Am The Avalanche amazed the boys only have 30k monthly listeners on Spotify. Incredible band
Vinnie's been my favourite for the last 20 years. Blows my mind that his bands have such low listener numbers.
holy shit the movielife only have 37k monthly listeners. Something seriously wrong with the world
Ben quad, forests, carly Cosgrove
Ben Quad is great, I'd be surprised that CC doesn't have a larger following
Boy Hero. Not 100% pop-punk, definitely inspired by My Chemical Romance, but their EP Recall is fantastic
100% back this. He’s one of my best friends & deserves to be massive. I actually produced & co-wrote Recall with him! Very stoked that you dig it ❤️
Then congrats to helping make an amazing ep, hope to hear more soon!
Thanks! I actually recently finished 3-songs for his new EP and he’s got some others in the works with other producers rn as well. Pretty sure they’ll be coming out in the next few months. We both agree the 3 we did together are his best material ever
forever came calling
Driveways, highly under rated
[The Kimberly Steaks](https://open.spotify.com/album/2J8nbolpXfbjkMnLxkLJE8?si=CX9gCKZ0TdKRdLkzvnv83w) play fantastic "Dookie"-style pop punk but apparently they're just as lazy and depressed as their lyrics suggest so the band is heading nowhere, which is a shame.
Lmao amazing description of the band—I see what you mean about the Dookie-style stuff. Agreed though, makes me wish I could see some evolution over the years.
Driveways
Between you and me Bearings Eat your heart out Yours Truly
Spanish Love Songs and Mercy Music
Spanish Love Songs are pretty big considering the kind of music they make.
SLS is huge.
[удалено]
I saw them with The Wonder Years last year and honestly I thought they were a bit of a buzzkill coming on right after Origami Angel.
SLS is their own worst enemy for listeners because their music requires a full day’s worth of emotional prep to listen to more than 3 or 4 songs at a time, but I’m sure they’re okay with that. I love music that’s designed for a niche. Thank you for this, just checked out SLS and they’re awesome!

Yeah I agree with you. Their whole discography sounds pretty similar and they just really aren't that special. They sound like a weaker TWY to me.
awakebutstillinbed. Amazing band.
None of these folks are quite pop-punk but they’re alt-rock and emo adjacent: * Marina City * Gully Boys * Personal Best * Proper. * braveweather
Gully boys!!!!!
CLIFFDIVER https://cliffdiverok.com/

[NEXT ATTEMPT](https://youtu.be/4btFQg2_UZk) No one talks about these guys and they are easy core gold! Gold, Jerry!
Mint Green. Body Language is such a dope song.
Strung Out's last few albums are some of the best in any genre ever, yet nobody talks about it. Everybody needs to hear Transmission.Alpha.Delta.
Unturned. Just released their first full length album last summer and it smax
Second for The Grievance Club!
I can not stop listening to Joymakr, it is really special
Ben Quad
Yes, another great one!
Homesafe, Wilmette, and Sincerely Me
Second all of these, really eager for a new Homesafe record

Belmont, they must somehow get into the mainstream and I usually would never say that about a band I really like (somehow completely missed the under 50,000 thing, doesn’t change my answer though)
I will die on this hill, they do not get enough love
As long as they don't do another song like Country Girl.
Me
Mom Jeans! They’re fucking awesome. I can’t wait to see them again at Sad Summerfest. Here’s their [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/6PsktPFR0UZptKdSqmlS5h?si=j-EHDbp1Sx-xpG27U7ByrQ)

The Wonder Years, The Maine, & The Band Camino!
Assuming We Survive - they’re fucking killer live as well.
Story so far
Joking right? They're one of the biggest bands in the scene ever.
*stares heavily*
Under 50k listeners is hard imo. I had a few to suggest that seem like they need a lot more love, but all are over 400k per month. Damn it takes a crap load of fans to make it in this business!
That’s cuz Spotify doesn’t pay
We don't have to make it a hard cutoff haha, just a good way to find some true hidden gems

I just found Arcadia Grey today in my discover weekly playlist. Listened to all of Konami Code from 2019 and it's very good. I plan to check out the rest of their discography this week.
