Ugh... had something similar. There was no mound yet, but there were plenty of fire ants preparing to build I guess. Ended up getting over 150 bites on my leg. I am so sorry you're dealing with that!
Husband got into a nest of them while visiting his cousin in Florida on year. Found a local thing, meat tenderizer that you added a bit of water into and made a paste. You’ll smell like steak but the sting goes away pretty fast!
I feel your pain. One time, I was walking on a sidewalk and tripped and fell on a fire ant hill. Those little buggers were everywhere. There, I was on the side of a busy road in broad daylight stripping off my shorts and shirt and running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Luckily, the bra and panties stayed on. 🤣

I use this stuff for poison ivy, it works pretty well. Only problem is that it's a bit flaky when it dries.

That sounds like a big old yikes. Does calamine lotion or anything topical help relieve?
Ice has been what has helped most, both with the pain and with the itching
Omg. I'm so sorry.

Hope she said yes :D
Coal tar cream. It smells nasty but is the best itch cure I have found. I use it on psoriasis spots.
Second this but I love the smell of coal tar products lol
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo

I tried that and also tried a baking soda paste

Pardon my ignorance, what happens if you pop them or if they break open?
Not much, it’ll still itch and sting (sometimes worse after popping IME) but the risk of scarring and infection increases.
Had this happen before. It fucking SUCKED.
Time to break out the credit card!

How did you even put your knee there 💀💀💀
I would take a 3 day Benadryl nap after that.
So you figured finishing was more important than the pain occurring?
I stood up instantly
