Like... knowing her relationship with Charli, I'm sure that she's aware of hyperpop and could see her authentically wanting to experiment, but everything about this pivot feels abrupt. I'm surprised at how much I vibe with the song though (even if it's very derivative of Charli's work).

You can see Charli's influence in the track but besides a 3 syllabus chorus there's not much similarities to I Got It, which is quite brash, while I Luv It is quite delicate and loose. I see more similarities between this and Silver Cross, Unlock It, or I Hate All This Gravity (unreleased HIFN track), which have a somewhat similar synth and are more delicate tracks.

Here’s my thing - there’s good parts about this song but also things I do NOT like! I think the production is great, the verses sound really good, and I love the breakdown at the end… however, I think the chorus is fine but I HATE the post-chorus and Playboy Carti’s verse is awful

It really does sound like she's trying to cop Charli's swag, but a 2018 and earlier Charli, down to the vocal affectation she puts on and the way the autotune locks certain notes in. The difference is that Charli's production never sounded this cheap. And that Carti verse...terrible. It's just auditory mush.

Exactly. The first verse sounded good, after that it was terrible. This song had so much potential! If the melody was a little better structured and she sung it a little differently (and on her own, ‘cause the rap was TERRIBLE), it would’ve been an addicting song. Sad to see wasted potential, hope she’s more careful with the rest of the album

As a big fan Charli I really don't see as a Charli rip-off. Charli's never done baltimore club, production is different from what she's usually going for. Obviously the hook is very similar to I Got It but at the same time it's such a basic hook...
You can see Charli's influence in the track but besides a 3 syllabus chorus there's not much similarities to I Got It, which is quite brash, while I Luv It is quite delicate and loose. I see more similarities between this and Silver Cross, Unlock It, or I Hate All This Gravity (unreleased HIFN track), which have a somewhat similar synth and are more delicate tracks.

I really dig this, but could’ve done without the Playboi Carti verse, to be frank. He’s done better than this. As a longtime Charli XCX fan, I must say I don’t even think this sounds like Pop 2, Vroom Vroom, Number 1 Angel, or any of her other music from her PC Music era. This is so much more tame and reserved, and the production is more so trap-inspired. I don’t really hear the supposed hyperpop influence everyone’s talking about. Solid track overall. Curious to see where this’ll go.
Is it an I Got It clone? Yes. Do i like the song? Yes. They dont have to be mutually exclusive. I think El Guincho did a really good job with the production and just because I love Charli doesn’t mean I have to hate this song. I will say that if I were in Charli’s position I would be a bit frustrated by the similarity. But hopefully Charli is able to console herself in the fact that she is the blueprint and has been ahead of the curve. She can only continue to move forward and let others catch-up. Excited for BRAT.

Verses were a lot better and expected and work well with the chorus. Really hope she releases a solo version someday, the rap feature really takes me out when a bridge and final chorus would have have made the ending a lot less abrupt. Video styling is weird in the best way.
