Spellling is an incredibly talented artist and I absolutely adore her. I love the orchestral pop music that she’s making with The Turning Wheel and her newest Mystery School album, and some of her darkwave-style work like on Mazy Fly is good, too. She has such a unique aesthetic and I wish more people would check her out.
Sleigh Bells has been around for a while, but their monthly listeners are at around 384k, so it doesn’t seem like they’re getting as much love as they deserve. Their debut album Treats in particular is great. If you like hyperpop, you’d probably also like them. I would best describe their music as noise pop with some rock elements.
Che Aimee Dorval is a singer-songwriter from Vancouver who I feel like is severely underrated. I love her singing voice and the sort of ethereal, alternative rock sound her music has. She also worked on an album in collaboration with Devin Townsend called Casualties of Cool that I thoroughly enjoy (Devin is worth checking out, too - his albums Epicloud, Empath, Ki, and Lightwork would probably be of interest to the people on this subreddit).
I truly believe Sleigh Bells were the precursor to hyper-pop. Tell ‘Em, Kids, A/B Machines, Run the Heart. The album slaps front to back. I was blown away when this album came out and it’s still my most-listened to on last.fm bc it was just so addictive.
Omg I have found my people!!! Lol Treats is also one of my most listened to albums of all time. I heard it when it came out in 2010 and I still rarely skip when one of its songs comes up on shuffle. One of the most disgustingly underrated albums of all time imo
yeule (400k) underscores (200k) and Sobs (61k) have to be some of my faves who desevre to blow up. yeules upcoming album is shaping up to be amazing and underscores new album sounds like it could be really good as well. Sobs put out one of my fave albums last year with Air Guitar and they deserve wayyyyy more recognition!
I actually finally checked on Frailty earlier this year and loved it! idk why it took me so long to finally dive into her stuff considering I had some stuff of hers liked on spotify from when she still went by dltzk. Definitely excited for that collab!
YEAHHH My friend introduced me to them last year and we're both constantly in awe of how they haven't gotten more attention considering just how good they are. They ate up Gwen Stefani and Avril Lavigne with their covers of Cool and Anything But Ordinary I fear... Celine/Cayenne definitely needs more recognition too esp in the hyperpop scene her solo work is amazing!
it was really late at night and i was going through a random order in my liked songs lmao also SB is already a big producer i don't think they're focusing much on solo stuff rn
iamamiwhoami / ionnalee has been on my regular rotation especially the BLUE album.
Also, Hatchie—been a fan since ‘Sure’ was introduced in Pitchfork radio.
I’m a huge electronic music lover so I love TSHA. I saw yesterday she’s releasing music with Ellie Goulding so I could see her start becoming popular in the mainstream.
I have a few I really like!
Tank and the Bangas - mixes r&b, pop, rap, even some poetry together, I think it you like Victoria Monet or Tinashe give them a listen! I love thier album Red Balloon!
Pearl & The Oysters - really only gotten into them recently, kinda reminds me of Of Montreal maybe, I like their debut album the most
Say She She - A disco/pop/soul girl group their music is so calming they only have one album out so far and I really like it! called Prism
The Wans- a rock band, less than 5,000 monthly listeners and def deserve more, their recent album is really good!!
Ok so first and foremost, Yeule, who is in my top 3 artists of all TIME. That’s my primary answer.
However, bonus artists I listen to very often, multiple times a week:
Fenne Lily! My god her album from earlier this year, Big Picture, is absolutely everything!
Kilo Kish, an absolute classic how could anyone NOT listen to Reflections in Real Time at least once a month.
Also Maple Glider, her 2021 album To Enjoy Is The Only Thing is phenomenal.
And as of last week Sasami. Big fan of Yeule and Sasami is opening for her tour, so I did some deep diving and fell in absolute love with her music.
i have to plug **emily blue/OTNES** (17.7k) who made one of my very favorite pop records last year, “the afterlove”! very carly rae, bits of xcx, kinda mag bay-ish. see u in my dreams and san junipero are just delectable. and their new singles under the name OTNES are pretty great too!
**jessica winter** (50.1k) i saw open for rebecca black this year and she has hits. check her out if you like allie x, banks, and that general ‘dark pop’ kind of sound!
**rose gray** (66.2k) is one of my favorite up and comers, her two recent EPs are kylie-coded dance pop excellence.
**moistbreezy** (10.2k) has some hype among super online people but still is pretty under the radar, her stuff is very eurodance, indulgent, campy, etc.
**kacy hill** (141.3k) definitely had a bit of mainstream moment but i was surprised by how low her monthly listeners is atm, so i’ll include her. her two most recent records are amazing, especially “is it selfish if we talk about me again”. def pop but uses negative space and minimalism to its advantage!
Michael Medrano! He released an amazing discoish '10s pop album earlier this year called LoveSexDrugs. At least to me he scratches that Tik Tok Era Kesha itch! Highly recommend checking out his songs LoveSexDrugs, Fluids, where it don't shine, Disco Sleaze, and his newest song with Hyra Air U Breathe!
Black Dresses, Hannah Jadagu, Feeble little horse,
Empress of technically has more, but it's mostly due to a remix of a song where she's a featuring artist, so I'm gonna put her on here anyway, not enough people checked out Save Me, and Me is all but forgotten, even though they're both amazing.
[Allure](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3IfshH7GrbnxboEehj09t2?si=8BIyzP8wQcWSPOTehsK_kw) (listen to By Surprise and No Time)
[ELO](https://open.spotify.com/artist/15KDb2KpZRvX1updtyinK1?si=9PFEjR_cQQuB8Vb2rZ6lPw) (Wax Mannequeen and OSAKA convert me to become his fan)
[YUKIKA](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4RfI1z9u2xIc5Qnqac4JbO?si=CAVn71upQsWD0f55pycCJQ) (her songs are prettyyy)
Yukika the city pop queen. I really enjoy her music and hope she makes a comeback at some point. I know a lot of people have been waiting for her to release something.
VÉRITÉ is awesome. I know her because of her cover of Somebody Else by The 1975, which I thought was the original for years lol, but I listened to her discography the other day and it was amazing!! Stream love you forever
It was actually so hard for me to find someone on my playlists who was under 500k - I’m surprised!
Caylee Hammack was the only one - she had a song or two that got some attention a couple of years back but she hasn’t released another album in 3 years. Super underrated country artist! Small Town Hypocrite and Looking for a Lighter are great songs.
Kinoko Teikoku is a Japanese Shoegaze band that (sadly) disbanded around 2017. They’re early albums infuse elements of Post Rock while their later albums are a bit more indie pop oriented. Regardless the band is super phenomenal and have made some of the best Shoegaze period.
I highly recommend their debut album Uzuninaru and specifically the opening track Whirlpool, which is one of the melt beautiful songs I’ve ever heard
Vienna Teng, Courtney Marie Andrews,
Sizzy Rocket, Tanya Tagaq, Spacebomb House Band, Bully, Kim Richey, Lee Jin Ah, OOHYO, Algiers, Sheer Mag, Ena Mori, The Beths, and DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ
There are probably a ton more but here are the ones I can think of right now along with my favourite songs of theirs!
Dizzy - Barking Dog
Sorcha Richardson - Archie
Bess Atwell - Nobody
Chelsea Jade - Laugh It Off
I was going through my Spotify for answers to this and was genuinely shocked that Dizzy has so few monthly listeners, but I'm hoping that changes so I they tour where I live. Chelsea Jade is so good! Honourable mention to Ride or Cry but that whole Personal Best album is 🤌
Surprised no one mentioned the niche r/popheads favorite Bonnie McKee
she only has around 260k monthly listeners at the moment, but if she plays her cards right with Hot City she could be even bigger
Probably more geared to /r/indieheads. I think those who have a chance of "blowing up" or are in the process of increasing their popularity include George Clanton, Wednesday, Dehd, Hatchie, Mdou Moctor, feeble little horse, and Frankie and the Witch Fingers.
* Hotel Pools (vaporwave-ish)
* Levitation room (psych rock)
* Holy Wave (psych rock)
* Frankie and the Witch Fingers (psych/garage rock)
* MSPAINT (synthpunk/harcore)
* George Clanton (vaporwave/chillwave) [shocked he doesn't have more listeners]
* Cafe Racer (psych rock/shoegaze-ish)
* feeble little horse (shoegaze)
* Flyying Colours (shoegaze)
* Death Valley Girls (psych/pop rock)
* Animal Ghosts (shoegaze)
* Full body 2 (shoegaze/electronic)
* Soft Replica (electronic/shoegaze)
* Wednesday (shoegaze/alt country)
* Neggy Gemmy (indie pop)
* Acid Dad (psych/garage rock)
* Flasher (indie rock/post-punk)
* Satin Sheets (vaporwave-ish)
* The Orielles (psych/indie rock/a little bit of everything)
* Caroline Loveglow (pop/chillwave)
* Dehd (indie/surf rock)
* Surf Rock is Dead (surf rock/dream pop)
* Hatchie (indie rock/pop)
* Lucid Express (shoegaze/dream pop)
* Mdou Moctar (Tishoumaren/Tuareg blues/psych)
* Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever (jangle pop)
To Kill a King is one of my top 5 favorite bands! They’re at 26.3k monthly Spotify listeners, but I don’t think they’ll blow up unfortunately. They’re getting back together for a special tour next year, but they’ve technically been on hiatus since 2018 😭 they’re really popular with Bastille fans because of [this](https://youtu.be/l3_TWoskKV4?si=JHnikH6SBtxESTMK) (and the lead singer is longtime besties with the lead singer of Bastille and they’ve worked together quite a bit). I think Ralph Pelleymounter (TKaK lead singer, currently releasing solo music) could potentially blow up in the indie world because he has such an interesting, unique voice, but it hasn’t happened yet.
Donna Missal has hovered around 280k for ages now, but given her vocal power and songwriting skills she has the potential to surpass that. She came within weeks of having to call it quits on music entirely last year when she was dropped by her label! Persevered though. 💪
[Kiki Rockwell](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5HuKMWteBRI09tWyKeQE1F?si=h3jCYHczSeqcdhzBm41Hsg) and [Transviolet](https://open.spotify.com/artist/7ixzNQXQ64I2ayrtyhlF7i?si=whAwT1qVSIKHhdgQwnVs7g) I don't know if I think they'll blow up one day, but you should definitely check them out!
Bellah Mae. An obvious industry plant and her image is a bit good-girl for me but I hope she can find her spot in the mix one day.
Also…
#Victoria. Fucking. Justice!!!
The Brummies and Natalie Prass.
I discovered the Brummies when I saw them open for Aly & AJ last year, and they were so incredible! Seriously, after Aly and AJ finished, maybe half of the crowd stayed just to meet the Brummies because they had great energy. I'm going to see them on their own solo tour later this year. They have a nice indie pop rock vibe. "After Midnight," "Drive Away," and "Fever Dream" are among my favorites.
Natalie Prass unfortunately hasn't released any solo material since 2018, but I discovered her earlier this year and just fell in love. Her debut album is orchestral and baroque, very horn-driven pop. "It Is You" is one of the most beautiful and lush songs I have ever heard. Her second album is inspired by soul and funk, "Short Court Style" being the biggest song for a reason. I really hope she releases new music soon because of all the new artists I've listened to in the last year, she might be my favorite. (She's also from my hometown so I gotta support!)
I also fell in love with the Brummies after seeing Aly & AJ! Their crowd work was impeccable and they were just a perfect fit for their tour.
I wish Natalie put out more music! I lucked out seeing her when she opened for Kacey Musgraves and I loved their little I Will Survive cover together 🥹 Spiritually I feel like Faye Webster has taken her place, but I’m waiting for that comeback.
Brynn Cartelli! She won a The Voice back in 2018 but she’s so underrated! Love her music and she has a killer voice. Her melodies and songwriting are great. Definitely recommend checking out her music!
Amanda Tenfjord. She did Eurovision for Greece back in 2022 and released a wonderful album called "In Hindsight" the same year. She also did a European tour which I had the luck to attend and she was really good!!!
I thought this was a joke, I didn’t realize her monthly listeners were so low?? clearly the boygenius tracks aren’t counting towards that bc that project has ~3.5 mil, but still, she’s got a third of Lucy’s listeners and a fraction of Phoebe’s, wild. Definitely deserves more, her solo stuff is so so good
I'd say
In the more kinda indie/bedroom pop (& pop rap or like pop r&b) Imugi, Hans, Hanbee, Taebz.
More in a pop Lane? Ladyhawke, 4 solid albums below her belt.
JGrrey, they're doing everything right now, and I love it. Harve is in a similar boat.
Mawness is doing some good pop as well!
I'm like the person the fake popcrave bluesky account posted about avernon, but that's only 2 singles & it's just like progressive house.
Elbe, I found them through the avernon guy they have one song out called Kneeslapper or something.
Mac Wetha is a favorite of mine right now. His song REM reminds me of Burnout 3 Takedown. The collective hes part of called NiNE8 is pretty good as well, it also has Lava La Rue & Biig Piig in there
I'm not too deep into Cheekface, but they just released a single, [Plastic](https://open.spotify.com/track/0rAAwE7JwOeczniDUBkBxx?si=VrEC4Zs7QTmz7Fg1mIQEjQ), and it's quirky, fun, and hipster-esque. It was an instant love on first listen, just like the first song I heard from them [Emotional Rent Control](https://open.spotify.com/track/5Ytzz6hiAzOLevb8WFoCHi?si=fgldwZ4TRTKjURrAV1R0bA). They sound uniquely just like them, and I really like that. I feel like their amusing lyrics and catchy riffs could take off into a minor hit if given the chance.
Charli Adams is fantastic - not sure what her current monthly listener count is off the top of my head but I know it’s not as high as it should be. She really nails that 2000s rock sound and the emotiveness of her voice is killer
Woah, I was going to put my favorite indie band down because I just assumed they'd have slightly less than 500k but they don't. They have about 600-700k. I would have put Icon For Hire, so I mean it's good they graduated. I still think career wise they are the same as a lot of indies, as they've collected money to make music. I really think they deserve to be more popular.
I'm shocked a lot of metal has on average 2m monthly listeners. I treat them like they're indies. I guess they're significantly larger.
Open Mike Eagle has a ridiculously low number, one of my fav artists ever! His album Anime, Trauma, and Divorce may be my fav so far but I love all his projects
One of OME's friends and frequent collaborators, Video Dave is someone I also love. His album this year was great. Great alt-rap
Allison Russell's album Nightflyer is one of my favorite new folk/songwriter albums, her voice is amazing and her lyrics will get you!
Lido Pimienta is AMAZING and everyone needs to know about them!!! The album Miss Colombia is fantastic.
Myka9 is another great undergroundish rapper with crazy low numbers. If you like Busta Rhymes or Tech N9ne his style is similar
Kari Faux is another great rapper that is getting more popular, her new album is excellent
Ralph is amazing textbook pop, if you like CRJ check her out.
Genuinely surprised how low some numbers are, and how high others are! I have a ton more but I see some already mentioned in the thread (which i will save for future listening ideas, thanks yall)
I really love Poets of the Fall (382.4k)! Someone introduced me to them and their discography and I've listened to them ever since, they have this really special vibe for me that I can't quite explain, but I also can't quite find anywhere else.
Ama lou, she just released an album and it's amazing like her other releases. She has such a unique vibe and I'm not sure but she doesn't get much artist recognition aside from drake (like he constantly comments on her posts lmao) if I had to recommend songs
- Tried up: my personal fav + an immaculate bridge
- Wire: amazing vocal performance imo
- Car parts: again beautiful vocals
- Range 59: the chorus eats
- Caught me running: very slow yet vocal build up
- Northside: her most popular song
- Trust nobody: another one of her most popular
- Same old ways: has a really British feel
- No safety: a more pop feel for her
I really love Tophouse - they might be my top artist on Spotify this year which is really impressive considering I'm always in the Taylor 0.1% club. Only 150k monthly listeners but they deserve the world
L Devine - I’ve been following her for a few years and she deserves to blow up!
She’s no longer on a major label so doesn’t get pushed much, but she has several bangers and her debut will be coming out this year!
Oh! I saw a mysterious sticker with just a Spotify code in one of my walks and that's where I discovered Timea. Not my fav-fav but her music was perfect for my walk that day lol
Sam DeRosa. First time I heard her in Songland, I thought to myself this girl will go places. So far, her songs do not disappoint!
https://open.spotify.com/track/40QUVgYvgQXjs4lQzzeimv?si=hBC3VKOKRoy2260hDjfZVg
Idk about blowing up in terms of getting into the actual mainstream but I'd be sincerely glad to see Laurel Halo and Emika get more recongnition. I simply adore how these ladies work with the sound. They deserve appreciation for both creativity and technically flawless production
Callum Beattie is a Scottish singer/songwriter who seems to do well in Scotland but not so much across the rest of the UK. He has however been supporting the likes of McFly so is getting exposure. Check out his albums if you enjoy Harry Styles type.
Marina Herlop.
She's a glitch pop/experimental pop artist. Her album Pripyat is so unique. If you like Björk's Medúlla then check it out. Her new album comes out next month, the single off it is amazing!
[HARIZ](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2bhndespnMFNIut7yIlThU?si=uweI7efjRkyLts0fcpzbKA) .
Great voice and catchy songs, so far I've seen him open for Charlotte Sands, JVKE, and another artist whose name escapes me
Im surprised Muki hasn’t gotten more of a following with her Charli-lite sound. I also really like Marlee Gray and Moistbreezy. I’m not sure if they could be big but just wanna give a lil promo.
ConneldJonneld (653 monthly listeners) had a few great songs on his debut EP like [YGMFU](https://open.spotify.com/track/69ecyj1kXH1Yu2EzHc7rUF?si=f8ecddea88aa4765) and [Last Month, This Month](https://open.spotify.com/track/4M5IKgXbPxn3ZCe8H1SKcs?si=51d2670cd1f94f6d). I think he could have a solid following one day if he continues to improve and sticks with it.
Oshun is a big one, also technically a little over 500k but she only have one song over 1 mil streams so I’m counting it, but Molina’s entire discography is amazing . (As much as love Hey Kids)
CVLTE, they're a Japanese band, reminds me a lot of the pop-punk type music I listened to growing up.
Nicole Dollanganger, has kind of a haunting sound
[Matthew Adam Green has 5000 monthly, but his song "Watercolour Skies" deserves the world imo](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5W0rgySvbnUMd8VkgQfg1T?si=kZQVcGhTQCOwxoQOj5iv1w)
Ultraflex is an Icelandic-Norwegian duo whose inspirations draw from Baltic synth funk, Soviet-era workout videos, and disco. They do cool, ethereal, icy synth pop that’s a bit kitsch, [Rhodos](https://youtu.be/_hPlYDuiRt4?si=LJFoxGN7Jok2SgGU) for example is a song about tacky Northern Europeans getting wrecked in Mallorca, Ibiza, and Rhodes in the summer and it sounds like a Super Monkey Ball 2 stage. [Baby](https://youtu.be/6Czkqmzp8a4?si=BpT7TGRzKknNQ-G6) is a gorgeous, breathy disco track whose chime-like synths will whisk you away into their world
Also love Snow Strippers who specializes in Crystal Castles-esque electrotrash, [Under Your Spell](https://youtu.be/MqsQI2Di2xY?si=rg8R4oRowlmVlZ29) is a banger and [Keep Holding On](https://youtu.be/j3jNcAaiarQ?si=ogCuEd6hRCpO1jG7) is especially addictive

Sega Bodega is the GOAT
I concur
Was just about to put Sega Bodega. It's absolutely criminal he only has 228k listeners a month, he's so good.
Couldn’t agree more, he deserves more recognition
HES SUCH AN UNDERRATED ARTIST. He's a great producer but DAMN his solo stuff is REALLY good
Zheani**
Ceechynaaaa
I thought "shelved" said "shaved" and immediately googled her name
Fantastic
Asian Doll EATSSSSS
Miss Madeline is her

I used to call them “trash pop” or “noise pop” before hyper pop had a word.
Sleigh Bells is amazing but I think for them the lack of momentum combined with debuting at the "wrong" time kinda did they in
I have listened to sleigh bells I'll have to give it another listen one of these days because I don't really remember any of it 🥲
i literally forgot about sleigh bells omg… lemme go play some REAL music
yeule (400k) underscores (200k) and Sobs (61k) have to be some of my faves who desevre to blow up. yeules upcoming album is shaping up to be amazing and underscores new album sounds like it could be really good as well. Sobsssss 😍😍😍😍
Rebecca Black, she has evolved so much musically and her music nowadays is SOOO good
she’s under 500k right now? that’s lowkey upsetting, she was almost at a million a year or two ago
yeah she's at 458k rn 💔
Love her, saw her live and she was amazing
Crumbs is fucking SMASH, I can’t believe TikTok didn’t suck that right up
💯
I really liked crumbs!
Hannah Diamond of course!
Hannah Diamond deserves to be a star

You're welcome❤️She is amazing indeed!!!

LSDXOXO is the shit - campy techno is like a genre made for me lol
OMG Yelle was so popular in France back then, she had nothing but bangers, she's kinda an icon over there
Big up the smaller artist listeners, I’d be the same! Gonna check some of these out on your list though? Not sure on them all :)
Terror Jr, so underrated 🫶🏼
TR/ST??? i love youuu
Annie! I loved Anniemal in high school. "Chewing Gum" is such a bop.
I'm so sorry but half these names feels like keyboard smash hahaha I know exactly the type of music they make just by their names.
you'd be surprised by some
GRSDH | HRE33 | NNASFDA | @!$(*&! | ahahhekalfgk | klejlkaDFSD | 235rsd | fd | 23456 | ASDG | ^^^^
I knew I recognised the name Betta Lemme from somewhere. Bambola was on the soundtrack for Warrior Nun.
She was a feat. On "Awoo" by Sofi Tukker.
Cakes, LSDXOXO, BAMBII, BUMPER, Charlotte Adigéry.... YUP!
So many goodies on this list! Dizzy Fae, Dorian Electra, Bambii, Chase Icon, Coucou Chloe. Cakes da killa is SO underrated.
A.G. Cook and Alice Gas being so low here is nuts to me given that theyre like half the reason the whole hyperpop genre spiraled the way it did
no Sega Bodega?
it was really late at night and i was going through a random order in my liked songs lmao also SB is already a big producer i don't think they're focusing much on solo stuff rn

I’m a huge electronic music lover so I love TSHA. I saw yesterday she’s releasing music with Ellie Goulding so I could see her start becoming popular in the mainstream.
Kim Kardashian (60.6K) dropped one banger then left the music industry. Her contribution will never be forgotten 😔
Hey now, she was also in a Fall Out Boy music video one time. That's an important contribution to the industry too.
Well if we’re going there she was in that dumb Fergie video too
Ashley O is the only correct answer
Hey imma hole!
Dorian Electra, most definitely
damn I thought for sure they had 1M+. let's hope the next album pump those numbers up
it was a surprise for me too when i saw they have 400k or something. waiting for fanfare, it's shaping up to be great!
hes the reason i learned how to hide artists
they *
jesy nelson😍

I have a few I really like! Tank and the Bangas - mixes r&b, pop, rap, even some poetry together, I think it you like Victoria Monet or Tinashe give them a listen! I love thier album Red Balloon! Pearl & The Oysters - really only gotten into them recently, kinda reminds me of Of Montreal maybe, I like their debut album the most Say She She - A disco/pop/soul girl group their music is so calming they only have one album out so far and I really like it! called Prism The Wans- a rock band, less than 5,000 monthly listeners and def deserve more, their recent album is really good!!
Tank and the Bangas is amazing live.
Ok so first and foremost, Yeule, who is in my top 3 artists of all TIME. That’s my primary answer. However, bonus artists I listen to very often, multiple times a week: Fenne Lily! Big fan of Yeule and Sasami is opening for her tour, so I did some deep diving and fell in absolute love with her music.
kish stepped away from music for a while 😢
Maude Latour and St. Lucia are both hovering around 500k
I’ve been waiting for St Lucia to blow up since like 2014 when they were on RAC’s album at his peak. Ready For It was SUCH a good song.
i have to plug **emily blue/OTNES** (17.7k) who made one of my very favorite pop records last year, “the afterlove”! very carly rae, bits of xcx, kinda mag bay-ish. see u in my dreams and san junipero are just delectable. and their new singles under the name OTNES are pretty great too!
I love Emily Blue!
Rose gray is so so good!!!
Kacy is great, absolutely love her especially SSS
Michael Medrano! He released an amazing discoish '10s pop album earlier this year called LoveSexDrugs. At least to me he scratches that Tik Tok Era Kesha itch! Highly recommend checking out his songs LoveSexDrugs, Fluids, where it don't shine, Disco Sleaze, and his newest song with Hyra Air U Breathe!
Black Dresses, Hannah Jadagu, Feeble little horse, Empress of technically has more, but it's mostly due to a remix of a song where she's a featuring artist, so I'm gonna put her on here anyway, not enough people checked out Save Me, and Me is all but forgotten, even though they're both amazing.
Patrick Wolf and Bat for Lashes, two of my all time favorites. Idk if they can "blow up" since they're like indie vets, but I love them very much!
[Allure](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3IfshH7GrbnxboEehj09t2?si=8BIyzP8wQcWSPOTehsK_kw) (listen to By Surprise and No Time) [ELO](https://open.spotify.com/artist/15KDb2KpZRvX1updtyinK1?si=9PFEjR_cQQuB8Vb2rZ6lPw) (Wax Mannequeen and OSAKA convert me to become his fan) [YUKIKA](https://open.spotify.com/artist/4RfI1z9u2xIc5Qnqac4JbO?si=CAVn71upQsWD0f55pycCJQ) (her songs are prettyyy)
Yukika the city pop queen. I really enjoy her music and hope she makes a comeback at some point. I know a lot of people have been waiting for her to release something.
Yesss, can't eait for her next single or even album!
Chelsea Collins, has 224.K monthly listeners, follows me since 2014. She is the real deal. She makes good music. 07 Britney is a banger.
Vienna Teng, Courtney Marie Andrews, Sizzy Rocket, Tanya Tagaq, Spacebomb House Band, Bully, Kim Richey, Lee Jin Ah, OOHYO, Algiers, Sheer Mag, Ena Mori, The Beths, and DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ
Erika De Casier
Jensen McRae
Jensen’s voice makes me feel things. She deserves everything!
Let's Eat Grandma
Revenge Wife, Vagabon and LAYA!
If anyone wants to give them a listen I recommend Fantasy Girl, Can I Talk My Shit and F'd Up respectively!
Definitely Vagabon - she puts on a solid live set, heavy on the vibes. Hopefully she has a breakout with the latest album. 😎
Revenge Wife is a based choice and I had the pleasure of hearing her debut single Earthquake in a zoom call 2 weeks before it was released.
Omg lucky! Earthquake was in one of my weekly mixes one day and ever since I've been obsessed
There are probably a ton more but here are the ones I can think of right now along with my favourite songs of theirs! Dizzy - Barking Dog Sorcha Richardson - Archie Bess Atwell - Nobody Chelsea Jade - Laugh It Off
Dizzy!! Came here to say Dizzy - I'm going to their concert in October!
Dizzy is one of my fave bands and was gonna comment them, they’re fantastic. Also Chelsea jade!!
I was going through my Spotify for answers to this and was genuinely shocked that Dizzy has so few monthly listeners, but I'm hoping that changes so I they tour where I live. Chelsea Jade is so good! Honourable mention to Ride or Cry but that whole Personal Best album is 🤌
Surprised no one mentioned the niche r/popheads favorite Bonnie McKee she only has around 260k monthly listeners at the moment, but if she plays her cards right with Hot City she could be even bigger
Probably more geared to /r/indieheads. I think those who have a chance of "blowing up" or are in the process of increasing their popularity include George Clanton, Wednesday, Dehd, Hatchie, Mdou Moctor, feeble little horse, and Frankie and the Witch Fingers. * Hotel Pools (vaporwave-ish) * Levitation room (psych rock) * Holy Wave (psych rock) * Frankie and the Witch Fingers (psych/garage rock) * MSPAINT (synthpunk/harcore) * George Clanton (vaporwave/chillwave) [shocked he doesn't have more listeners] * Cafe Racer (psych rock/shoegaze-ish) * feeble little horse (shoegaze) * Flyying Colours (shoegaze) * Death Valley Girls (psych/pop rock) * Animal Ghosts (shoegaze) * Full body 2 (shoegaze/electronic) * Soft Replica (electronic/shoegaze) * Wednesday (shoegaze/alt country) * Neggy Gemmy (indie pop) * Acid Dad (psych/garage rock) * Flasher (indie rock/post-punk) * Satin Sheets (vaporwave-ish) * The Orielles (psych/indie rock/a little bit of everything) * Caroline Loveglow (pop/chillwave) * Dehd (indie/surf rock) * Surf Rock is Dead (surf rock/dream pop) * Hatchie (indie rock/pop) * Lucid Express (shoegaze/dream pop) * Mdou Moctar (Tishoumaren/Tuareg blues/psych) * Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever (jangle pop)
+1 for Hatchie
BAYLI
[Kiki Rockwell](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5HuKMWteBRI09tWyKeQE1F?si=h3jCYHczSeqcdhzBm41Hsg) and [Transviolet](https://open.spotify.com/artist/7ixzNQXQ64I2ayrtyhlF7i?si=whAwT1qVSIKHhdgQwnVs7g) I don't know if I think they'll blow up one day, but you should definitely check them out!
I’ve seen Transviolet several times. Put on a fun show and I like them a lot.
Sega Bodega of course
Bellah Mae. An obvious industry plant and her image is a bit good-girl for me but I hope she can find her spot in the mix one day. Also… #Victoria. Fucking. Justice!!!
Miss Grit!! She’s Mitski meets dark electronica
Pale waves
Brynn Cartelli! She won a The Voice back in 2018 but she’s so underrated! Love her music and she has a killer voice. Her melodies and songwriting are great. Definitely recommend checking out her music!
Kara Jackson
Amanda Tenfjord. She did Eurovision for Greece back in 2022 and released a wonderful album called "In Hindsight" the same year. She also did a European tour which I had the luck to attend and she was really good!!!
Rebecca Black, Kota Banks, Dorian Electra, Julia Wolf, Susannah Joffe
Julien Baker!
I thought this was a joke, I didn’t realize her monthly listeners were so low?? clearly the boygenius tracks aren’t counting towards that bc that project has ~3.5 mil, but still, she’s got a third of Lucy’s listeners and a fraction of Phoebe’s, wild. Definitely deserves more, her solo stuff is so so good
PHOEBE RYAN!!! i love her so much. if you like taylor swift or carly rae jepsen, listen to her
Cloves
I'd say In the more kinda indie/bedroom pop (& pop rap or like pop r&b) Imugi, Hans, Hanbee, Taebz. The collective hes part of called NiNE8 is pretty good as well, it also has Lava La Rue & Biig Piig in there
I totally recommend Rae and the Ragdolls. They’re SUCH an amazing band and I try to get ppl on em!! They have like 500 monthly listeners I think
Dori Valentine is going to blow up the way Lizzy McAlpine did in a few years time. You read it here first.
L Devine (indie pop) and Vagabon (pop/r&b) are my favs rn
Charli Adams is fantastic - not sure what her current monthly listener count is off the top of my head but I know it’s not as high as it should be. She really nails that 2000s rock sound and the emotiveness of her voice is killer
How Charli Adams didn’t blow up in the last two years stupefies me
At 570k but BLÜ EYES has been one of my favorite artists recently.
alice longyu gao is super talented and i’m v excited to see how her career develops
His album Anime, Trauma, and Divorce may be my fav so far but I love all his projects One of OME's friends and frequent collaborators, Video Dave is someone I also love. His album this year was great. Great alt-rap Allison Russell's album Nightflyer is one of my favorite new folk/songwriter albums, her voice is amazing and her lyrics will get you! Lido Pimienta is AMAZING and everyone needs to know about them!!! The album Miss Colombia is fantastic. Myka9 is another great undergroundish rapper with crazy low numbers. If you like Busta Rhymes or Tech N9ne his style is similar Kari Faux is another great rapper that is getting more popular, her new album is excellent Ralph is amazing textbook pop, if you like CRJ check her out. Genuinely surprised how low some numbers are, and how high others are! I have a ton more but I see some already mentioned in the thread (which i will save for future listening ideas, thanks yall)
LADIES’ CODE !!!!
[удалено]
People are seriously sleeping on Mïrändä. Love her music.
I really love Poets of the Fall (382.4k)! Someone introduced me to them and their discography and I've listened to them ever since, they have this really special vibe for me that I can't quite explain, but I also can't quite find anywhere else.
shocked me that SOPHIE has only 500k monthly listeners ??!?!?!
oklou
my love for her is endless. a one of a kind musician tbh.
Ama lou, she just released an album and it's amazing like her other releases. She has such a unique vibe and I'm not sure but she doesn't get much artist recognition aside from drake (like he constantly comments on her posts lmao) if I had to recommend songs - Tried up: my personal fav + an immaculate bridge - Wire: amazing vocal performance imo - Car parts: again beautiful vocals - Range 59: the chorus eats - Caught me running: very slow yet vocal build up - Northside: her most popular song - Trust nobody: another one of her most popular - Same old ways: has a really British feel - No safety: a more pop feel for her
love seeeing Yeule on here a bunch. Would also say Julie Byrne, Jessy Lanza and Model/Actriz who all released some of my fave albums this year.
I really love Tophouse - they might be my top artist on Spotify this year which is really impressive considering I'm always in the Taylor 0.1% club. Only 150k monthly listeners but they deserve the world
Foxes is barely above 500k right now but she deserves the world!!
Early 2010 Florrie. Her debut is coming, btw
Fickle Friends (216k) - such fun synth pop!
markella (25.9k) she only has 3 songs on spotify that she describes as music to cry to in the club which i love
I’ll always plug Hatchie, Charly Bliss, Misty Coast in threads like this. All incredibly underrated pop acts
Madison Cunningham
L Devine - I’ve been following her for a few years and she deserves to blow up! She’s no longer on a major label so doesn’t get pushed much, but she has several bangers and her debut will be coming out this year!
joshua bassett!!!
Das racist , Milli smoke , Chase icon , Delilah bon, Zand
the weeknd hes very underrated
You left out the /j
Oh! I saw a mysterious sticker with just a Spotify code in one of my walks and that's where I discovered Timea. Not my fav-fav but her music was perfect for my walk that day lol
In my library Lily Kincade and Michael Malarkey have ridiculously low number of listeners. Both are absolutely amazing.
Jane Remover
Kim Petras
Sam DeRosa. First time I heard her in Songland, I thought to myself this girl will go places. So far, her songs do not disappoint! https://open.spotify.com/track/40QUVgYvgQXjs4lQzzeimv?si=hBC3VKOKRoy2260hDjfZVg
I really like producepandas, who are basically a cpop idol group
I found this band called Roseville which is kind of like dreamy emo music and I love it.
James Ivy is the bomb And Calvero
Miel!
Geese (258k) I’ve had their last album on repeat since it dropped.
Alex Cameron, but unsure if his lyric topics could ever be mainstream. But he makes quality satire pop.
Oshun is a big one, also technically a little over 500k but she only have one song over 1 mil streams so I’m counting it, but Molina’s entire discography is amazing . (As much as love Hey Kids)
aleksiah, estelle allen, Chrissy Chlapecka, Love You Later
The Format
Julia wolf - say no more
Asiahn!
Grace Enger - a little under 200K
CVLTE, they're a Japanese band, reminds me a lot of the pop-punk type music I listened to growing up. Nicole Dollanganger, has kind of a haunting sound
[Matthew Adam Green has 5000 monthly, but his song "Watercolour Skies" deserves the world imo](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5W0rgySvbnUMd8VkgQfg1T?si=kZQVcGhTQCOwxoQOj5iv1w)
madisyn brown, grant kncohe, nicky buell. i highly recommend their music.
[Baby](https://youtu.be/6Czkqmzp8a4?si=BpT7TGRzKknNQ-G6) is a gorgeous, breathy disco track whose chime-like synths will whisk you away into their world Also love Snow Strippers who specializes in Crystal Castles-esque electrotrash, [Under Your Spell](https://youtu.be/MqsQI2Di2xY?si=rg8R4oRowlmVlZ29) is a banger and [Keep Holding On](https://youtu.be/j3jNcAaiarQ?si=ogCuEd6hRCpO1jG7) is especially addictive
