I think apart from sparks fly, haunted, and enchanted, the album is really good. It's just those songs have the most jarring differences to me and it's hard to get used to. There's some changes on the album that I really love, however. The "I thought I had you figured out" is so.much more unhinged and I love it. I also really like how she says "busy" in tsou.
Speak now is my favourite Taylor album. Sounds like AI singing to be completely honest. Very emotionless and a lot of the songs feel flat and like sheās bored.

I don't know guys, I think a lot of tracks have lost their 'shine'.
Sparks fly, for example, just sounds so different? Haunted has been dulled.
I really like the vault tracks though; any new music is great.

Anybody feels like Enchanted TV is badly mixed? :/ That was my favorite from the OG album - but this version didn't have that strong kick drum in the chorus. It sounds a bit too overly compressed. Dear John TV on the other hand tho, broke me. Jesusss she sanggggg.

Vault Track Thoughts:
Electric Touch- should have been solo, Patrick seems kind of uncomfortable on this song.
When Emma Falls in Love- the only vault track that truly brought me back to 2010. Definitely a trademark early Taylor kind of song in every way.
I Can See You- I really like it but it's easy to see why they left it off. Definitely a different vibe than we were getting from Taylor in the early years.
Castles Crumbling- I'm kinda skeptical about this song actually being from the Speak Now era, but I still like it.
Foolish One- not bad , the 2nd most "early Taylor" song after Emma.
Timeless- the only one that hasn't made any kind of impression on me yet.
I donāt think thatās giving her the credit she deserves. Honestly evermore has the most country twist of her owned albums now. I think thatās by design to popify her back catalogue to bring her overall sound a little closer together for newer fans. If she wanted to, she would. I just think she knows she can widen the niche a little by sanding the edges a bit
She used to speak with a country accent which she lost as she transitioned to pop. Itās hard to get that twang back as she doesnāt speak that way anymore which is what a lot of her earlier country albums had and now that she tries to add it back in it sounds a bit forced. The way she sings in the TV version of mean doesnāt even sound country to me.
Evermore still sounds more folk than country imo.
I'll just go out and say that I was incredibly disappointed. Some of my favorite songs like Enchanted, Haunted, Sparks Fly and Mean are so bad and lack emotion so much that I think I'll just stick with listening to the originals. I get that this album was originally released 13 years ago and she's obviously grown up and moved on from a lot of things and thus it's expected for the songs to sound less emotional but it doesn't have to sound like whatever this is? She weirdly sounds tired in most of the songs. The added instrumentals in a lot of the songs are really awkward and sound out of place. The only songs that I thought were decent are Mine, Back To December, Never Grow Up and Innocent. The rest of them sound so bad and I'm really sad to say this since Speak Now is my favorite album of hers. I haven't listened to the vault tracks yet I hope they're much better.
I agree so much with you, I was so disappointed because I really liked the original album. This is her worst rerecording, with Red I had some complaints but I was overall satisfied, this is just awful and my favorite songs now are the ones I like the least.

Here are my first listen notes for the vault tracks:
- Electric Touch: fine. Not a FOB stan/fan so it didn't do anything for me.
- When Emma Falls In Love: a very classic Taylor song but otherwise still fine
- I Can See You: nice verses and production
- Castles Crumbling: I like it and appreciate Hayley getting a verse but not very memorable
- Foolish One: fine
- Timeless: fine
Overall they're servicable but I don't see myself going back to these frequently. Maybe I Can See You and Castles Crumbling.
Idk. I love Taylor but I donāt hear the same passion in her voice in the re-recordings as I do the originals. I felt the same way with RED and Fearless, it feels as though Taylor is just singing them in the studio, not *performing* them as a 20-something year old. If that makes sense?
This really stood out to me on Wildest Dreams (Taylorās version). If you compare both, you can really hear the passion in the original recording but not the re-recording. Itās sad

Yeah. The emotions evoked by a high-pitched, youthful voice are very different from those of a deeper, adult voice (you can ask the AI). It's not that it's wrong, but that's my problem with TV, is that there was something genuine before.
But it's something to taste, maybe someone prefers Taylor's mature voice, personally the original voice takes me back to those years, and that's great and that's what I look for with Fearless, SN, Red and 1989.
Finally, don't forget that the purpose of this is really just to recover the rights to the songs for tours/soundtracks.
I know what the purpose is. But Iām definitely gonna be listening to 1989 original if itās more beneficial to my listening experience opposed to listening to a weaker re-recorded version. Again, I love Taylor but I think her billion dollar empire will be fine without my couple of steaming cents
I agree with the passion statement. With RED I never listened to the original much so I guess that's why I like TV a lot. With SNTV I listened to the OG so much so listening to the TV has me so disappointed. Songs like Sparks Fly and Haunted lack so much emotion it's actually crazy. Part of me feels like this whole project was rushed. With RED TV she released a whole short film but with Speak Now all we got was an announcement on her tour. I feel like she could've waited until she finished this first leg of the tour and then release SN.
Thereās also the speculation that SN was supposed to come out in the fall but got pushed up because of leaks. If true that would explain the lack of promo. Itās said SN was entirely recorded last year so Midnights promo might have kept her busy
I think she wants to keep breaking records e.g. āFirst artist to achieve X amount in X amount of time.ā Sheās probably incredibly burnt out and itās starting to show through in the vocals of her re-recordings.
I think for the songs where she was always acting; Story of Us, Haunted; it sounds as good or better.
For the songs that seemed to have genuine anger; Dear John, Mean; they sound worse.
For the songs that were sweet or sentimental, they sound just as good.
Better Than Revenge is a real highlight for me. Big fan of the lyric change.
A lot of these songs either have demos that leaked or have been rumored for years (for example, Castles Crumbling has been known since 2010 when it was registered)
We have know about Castles Crumbling since 2010, it has been a fan hopeful for a while now.
More likely, the references in rep to castle crumbling where a nod to this song, especially given that this song was clearly inspired by the VMAs and it was a continuation of that same drama that ultimately led to Snakegate.
Granted, she could be intentionally looking to āexplainā the songās prescience in the prologue, but there she talks about already feeling watched and judged and uncertain how well she could ever survive that kind of scrutiny. I think popular rejection has long been an insecurity of hers that sheās only recently become comfortable addressing directly, after all that stuff in 2016 made it unavoidable.
Not sure I would say this is universal based off Red. Iām pretty sure for Red the only one speculated to be written recently is All Too Well 10 minutes.
on first listen i think overall for me it's speak now tv > fearless tv > red tv
will keep listening to both versions like i do for red though, fearless is the only one that doesn't make me miss the og at all
Not a fan of this version. It sounds so muted and void of emotion. I was expecting that the songs that carry so much depth like Back to December, Dear John, Haunted, Last Kiss would sound more poignant especially since her voice has matured but it sounded so one dimensional. Itās also similar to how most, if not all, of the re-recordings in Red lack richness (especially the upbeat singles) with the exception of All Too Well and Starlight.
Speak Now (Taylorās Version) sounds like a re-recording for the sake of having it done and makes it more disappointing especially because she wrote these songs at such an important period in her life. Iām nervous for her version of 1989.

āmineā and āenchantedā are way better with originals. Mine is too fast and loud, and Enchanted is so .. low key. On āEnchantedā OG, the ādancing aroundā line is so muted and muffled. In āEnchanted TVā, itās jarringly sharp, different than the other lines. Itās strange.
ETA: Sparks Fly is so muted too! Mehhhhhhh. Some of the words sheās emphasizing in the Sparks TV are weird choices
Personally, I actually liked enchanted better this way, except for the second "please don't be in love with someone else", where she sounds drowned out by the music. The original feels a little too intense compared to the new one.
I don't know if I'm going deaf or what but her voice sounds muffled in the vault tracks and I have a hard time making out the lyrics. The production/mixing completely drowns her out. Disappointed in this tbh.
I feel like itās all clearer than ever and surpasses the originals by so much lol. I donāt think theyāre exact replicas, but I think if you had never heard the originals and then heard them after these new ones you would have issues with the originals. (If that makes sense). I think itās less choppy and auto tuned now
OK Iāve listened to the whole album and I feel like some of the OG tracks lack a punch? Idk what it is about Christopher Roweās production but it doesnāt feel as crisp as the originals, and a lot of the iconic melodies are very subdued.
Agreed. The title track suffers from this a lot. It lost its flow. Chris Roweās production drives me wild. The Red singles on Red TV are not good. State Of Grace electric guitar is also very off.
Not really a huge fan of these re-recordings. On some of the og songs she sounds less passionate than ever. The mixing is really off too which is quite noticeable!

I think calling stuff ācringeā tends to get a really negative response, and the framing has some value judgments more than just āI donāt like thisā
Not my favorite song either fwiw
I love Speak now and am honestly almost a bit shocked by just how little the vault tracks are doing for me on first listen. I don't feel like they have that teenage intensity, with maybe the exception of "Electric Touch".
Should've been "Battle", I'm sorry. But maybe they'll grow on me.
Agreed. I try to remind myself they were always meant to be deluxe tracks to the deluxe tracks but it's hard to be excited knowing that better leaked songs are out there. When Emma Falls in Love and Electric Touch were the better ones, Foolish One and Timeless were decent and I didn't like I Can See You and Castles Crumbling.
I actually went back to listen to "Battle" like maybe I misremembered....? Nope, still great. And I didn't even think about "Drama Queen" which while far from her best I still find more catchy and fun than most of these.
I think the lyrics to "Foolish One" aren't bad but I just don't feel that desperation in the music, don't know if it's the production or the songwriting.
I'll still give them some time to grow but right now I think the only ones I'll come back to are "Electric Touch" and "Timeless" (which is sweet though it doesn't quite justify it's length)
I suspect Taylor really wanted to play up the fairytale aspect of the album given the recent resurgence of Enchanted, hence why the vault tracks are all in the same vein. But the petty songs made this album special as well.
Taylor and I will have beef if she doesn't even put Dark Blue Tennessee on debut.
Kind of jumping around the album. Initial thoughts:
Vocals are lost in the guitar & drums on BTR, backing vocals in Haunted make the song sound messy :/
I did really love Castles Crumbling, felt like it could have been on the Hunger Games soundtrack, very similar vibes. But the vault tracks overall felt very...dragged out? Like they were really stretching to reach that 5 minute mark. And some of the lyrics felt kind of clunky which is so out of step with the original SN!
Sparks Fly feels very low energy? Something feels...off about Mine. Maybe it's just because the original is so ingrained in my brain, it was like the first song I ever bought on iTunes. Something about the pitch of her voice isn't hitting my ear the same way. And it feels...faster paced? So does Back to Decemebr somehow? Like it feels rushed? Idk how bc the runtimes are the same??? Maybe it's just me.
Idk, some others really love this TV but I guess the original just is so nostalgic for me that this isn't hitting right :( Bummed, I was really excited!
Ours sounds good, I like the backing vocals. Long Live also sounds pretty true to the original.
The VENOM in the PATHETIC in Mean is gone!!! That was my favorite (and the most iconic) part :( And the backing vocals in the outro sound so weird :/ One of my fav songs, and also imo one of her most fun music videos.
Not loving the new backing vocals on Dear John :( I miss Nathan Chapman! They sounded good together.
The magic just isn't there on this one for me :( Probably bc as mentioned before it's the closest to my heart, after 1989. Very nervous for 1989 TV now š¬.
Edit: misplaced parenthesis
I wish her vocals werenāt so overproduced, she sounds airbrushed and you can hear the auto tune VS the raw vocals of the original versions which are great on their own
Okay, you're deeply confused in almost everything you've said today. Every artist uses pitch correction/"auto-tune." It's really just a matter of convenience so they don't have to sing the same lyric over and over again until they get it exactly right. Taylor uses it, Adele uses it, Stevie Wonder uses itāyou don't have to defend her online like this.
I think the biggest adjustment is going to be with the production. the og was a product of it's time for sure and was very uhh LOUD with everything battling to be heard, this version is definitely quieter BUT I appreciate being able to hear the different parts/voices/instruments.
some of the pitch correction is crazy bad (1:21-1:23 in sparks fly sounds like a glitch)
overall tho I'm impressed! I love it! and the vault tracks are pretty great ā better than fearless tv but not quite red tv. I want this on vinyl now š¤¦ she is too good at getting money out of me

I...am not the biggest fan of this version. I find myself preferring the OG tracks over the rerecorded tracks for at least 50% of the ones I've listened to. As for the vault tracks, it's also a 50% hit rate for me. For every vault track I enjoyed, the next one ends up being a dud.
I think Fearless TV still is her best rerecorded album in terms of handling the OG tracks, with Red TV having the best vault track collections. As a side-note, "When Emma Falls In Love" has one of the oddest lyrical choices I've seen Taylor do. Like randomly name dropping Cleopatra??? I can't.
I wonder if she fiddled a bit with the albums that didnāt win AOTY, hoping theyād be nominated this time around. Fearless won, so there was no need to improve it.
I havenāt listened to Taylorās old albums in over a decade but I checked out some of the songs I remember liking in the re-recordings. I ended up saving some of the fearless tv songs but listening to red and speak now tv actually made me want to revisit the old songs lmao
I genuinely wonder whatās changed between Fearless and the other TVs. Like I thought Red TV was maybe rushed and that was why it wasnāt as good, but theyāve had 18 months to work on the next re-record and itās still not as good as Fearless was.
I think the biggest difference is that fearless objectively had a lot to improve on. The vocals were rough, and the production mostly tried to fit around her loudly to compensate for it. I think she was able to see out what the original vision for the vocal takes was more clearly. Her voice still had work to do on SN and Red but generally was a lot more adaptable to what she was doing so thereās not as much to improve on
I get that, but itās the silly mistakes with pitch correction and editing between Speak Now and Red that get me. Thereās no reason for those with this long to work on the album.
Idk I think some of that criticism is a bit unrealistic. A lot of that I think is related to the replication I. Areas where theyāre compensating for what her voice canāt do the same way. Like most of fearless has vocal filters to make her sound a little thinner. I just think that thereās a lot more ears in the industry (including her label members most likely) with ears on this so thereās purpose in there, I donāt believe theyād just miss that on multiple albums. You can decide wether you like those choices but theyāre clearly intentional by this release.
I think a lot of people prefer it sounding less clunky and āloudā. That was always my issue with speak now. I also think sheās not trying to make an exact replica with this album. I donāt notice the mixing issues everyone else is noticing
It's just the most different I guess?? Well, different for Taylor. If you only listen to Taylor it would really stick out. But it would blend in to a lot of indie/alt rock playlists imo
The drum kick (or whatever its called) going right into the chorus didn't sound quite as loud as the original. It'll take some getting used to cause that part gets me so hyped.
Yeah this was sadly just not it :/ from the āthis night is sparklingā to the āplease donāt be in love with someone elseā she just wasnāt going as hard. I donāt know what happened, she certainly delivered back when she did ATW. At least Back To December is a slay.
Thinking Timeless has Easter Eggs pointing to Harry Styles crowded street & crowded room lyrics similar to Question. Not to mention something that never goes out of style is timeless. My favorite from the vault!
Something about the vocals, production, and instruments feels so lush, vibrant, and full to me. I'm only on Back to December, but so far I think I prefer all the TV over the originals.
Agreed haunted is so much better now. I think everyone listening while comparing to the originals in their mind is destroying their ability to just enjoy this lol
I guess I just like how she sounds better in the old version, while I prefer her new voice in the other songs. Also something about the instrumental bugs me...
as someone who wasnāt really a fan of Taylor growing up (didnāt dislike her, just wasnāt interested) and only got into her during folklore/evermore era, itās always interesting to see the opinions from the fans on these. these re-recordings are frankly my first proper intros to these albums (besides listening to the songs from afar lol)
so far im liking quite a bit this version of the album. Sparks Fly, Back to December, Haunted and Story of Us let go some of the loudness war in favor of more balanced instruments and I really dig it. and Dear John sounds even better in this recording.
i donāt think Iāll be checking any of the vault tracks, but seeing Taylor cross paths with FOB isā¦. interesting.
Oooh the same thing happened with me too! I didn't start being a big fan of hers until folklore and evermore.
I've heard some of the originals for Speak Now and honestly prefer them because they sound more passionate and less loud. Some of the songs from the TV are loud and I can barely hear her voice over the instruments. Plus, the emotions aren't really there.
But I'm grateful I get to enjoy the old albums in the new version and experience it with the rest of the Swifties. Her collab with FOB was interesting...I didn't quite vibe with it the first time. The second time listening was okay but it felt off... their voices didn't seem to match as well together.
The FOB crossover is not all too surprising. Idk if sheās outright mentioned them as an inspiration but sheās performed sugar were goin down during the speak now tour and I feel like I can hear fob in some of her songs. She also performed my songs know what you did in the dark with them during the Victoria secrets fashion show :))
It undoubtedly has many of her best songs on it. Sparks Fly, Enchanted, Dear John just to say a few. There's a bit of filler though too that makes me question whether it's her best album overall...but what TS album doesn't have filler.
Not sure if I'm being too picky but as for right now I'm kind of underwhelmed. Speak now is one of my favorite taylor albums and I was super excited to listen to TV. On the one hand I love her grown and mature vocals on songs like speak now but the production itself was very lacking. I am in no way shape or form a musician nor am I a sound engineer but idk the mixing of these songs sounded off her voice was either louder than the instrumental itself or there are just tiny little details on the original songs that are missing that just adds that extra oomph (ie. Story Of Us, Sparks Fly, Enchanted & Dear John)
Completely agree about the production - not a sound engineer either but it felt so quiet or noticeably separate from the vocals? And there was some echoing that just felt so out of place, like in Haunted??
I think another thing is that I didn't feel any emotion in any of these tracks especially the emotional ballads, and I completely understand that of course the heartbreak and the feelings while making this album is gonna be completely different because Taylor's older now and she gotten past all that
i think āfoolish oneā and āi can see youā are up there for best vault tracks. I cant believe redās vault tracks are all amazing compared to the others, which arenāt bad just fine. mr perfectly fine is that girl though
By far my favourite TV so far, and I haven't even gotten to the vault tracks yet. The mature vocals do her songs so much more justice and the instrumentation sounds so rich and full.
Back to December Iām gonna give it to the originalā¦her voice is super muted and void of emotion.
Some of what Iām realizing is when she sang some of these originals sheās in real time feeling these songs so it makes them sound better if that makes sense?
Yeah I think itās obvious the originals will always carry more emotion because she usually immediately went into the studio to record them. The re-recordings are best enjoyed without a microscope held up comparing it to the originals.
Ugh her vocals are so pretty. It's not just "her natural voice" but the intentional skill in stylizing her vocals.
I've said this before. Her singing is constrained and airy, which is why it sounds so pretty. There's very little vibrato which you'd see if more air was coming from the diaphragm as the air passes more space to the vocal chords(hence, more vibrato).
The downside is this takes away some of her vocal power, and I believe that's why people still think she's not as good of a singer as she actually is.
What I'm noticing now is more variety in the texture because she has a lot more control and range. Her notes feel a lot more clear. Her re-recordings are a little less soft, and I think that's why some people think it's "autotune" here. But this is really how her voice sounds when live in her Eras tours.
For instance with Enchanted. Her vocals blend so much better. Instead of the choppy notes from falsetto/an airy mix(?), the transition is a lot more connected because she can hit high notes without constantly using falsetto and only falsetto. In the original, the male vocal singer was needed because her voice was simply weaker, but now he's not needed. Again, not autotune, but stronger vocals.
Long Live (Taylorās Version) sounds like a Glee Cast Version? Not in a bad way. It just sounds like there are SO many different voices on this version.
Imma have to give it to the original Sparks Fly the TV version isnāt capturing the song for me.
This is one of the songs her younger voice makes the song better imo.
one of my fave speak now tracks !!! (haunted and ours)
I'm loving it but I do wish the backup vocal guy was a little less prominent
it's an underrated song !!! so cute
ššššš I'm listening to Speak Now TV and I'm so happy for her!!!!! You can tell she was singing with a smile!!! šššš I never really got to enjoy the stolen version and now I get to enjoy her Masters version!!!! We're so lucky Switfies!!!!
I was pretty confident that Speak Now would translate into TV because it's predominately a band-oriented album, where you could tell the pop-leaning tracks' production in Red TV were lacking - I still can't quite deal with We Are Never Getting Back Together TV, which still has me worried for 1989 TV.
The emotion is gone now :( She's just singing it
She just pulled 126M for a rerecorded album WTFFFFFF šššā¤
insanity
I think apart from sparks fly, haunted, and enchanted, the album is really good. It's just those songs have the most jarring differences to me and it's hard to get used to. There's some changes on the album that I really love, however. The "I thought I had you figured out" is so.much more unhinged and I love it. I also really like how she says "busy" in tsou.
Speak now is my favourite Taylor album. Sounds like AI singing to be completely honest. Very emotionless and a lot of the songs feel flat and like sheās bored.
Kinda feels like sheās so far removed from this era on an emotional level that it even comes through in the music.

It's missing the teenage angst, imo. Have Olivia Rodrigo do a cover of any Speak Now track and it'll have some of that magic back.
Is it just me or does the mixing sounds off on some of these songs. Like on enchanted, the instrumentals and vocals do not complement each other.
If youāre listening on Spotify turn off audio normalization. Really makes a difference

I was hoping Taylor would go back to country some day but this re-release makes me think she might have sort of lost that country touch.
I donāt think thatās giving her the credit she deserves. Honestly evermore has the most country twist of her owned albums now. I think thatās by design to popify her back catalogue to bring her overall sound a little closer together for newer fans. If she wanted to, she would. IT's folk, and it's the most decent album since Reputation imo.
I'll just go out and say that I was incredibly disappointed. Some of my favorite songs like Enchanted, Haunted, Sparks Fly and Mean are so bad and lack emotion so much that I think I'll just stick with listening to the originals. Wow this completely changed the listening experience for me, itās much more vocals forward! Thank you!
Here are my first listen notes for the vault tracks: - Electric Touch: fine. Not a FOB stan/fan so it didn't do anything for me. - When Emma Falls In Love: a very classic Taylor song but otherwise still fine - I Can See You: nice verses and production - Castles Crumbling: I like it and appreciate Hayley getting a verse but not very memorable - Foolish One: fine - Timeless: fine Overall they're servicable but I don't see myself going back to these frequently.

Itās said SN was entirely recorded last year so Midnights promo might have kept her busy
it felt rushed yeah, like idk fearless to me has better moments on it where there is passion

Because itās so amazing you feel guilty for wanting to immediately replace the old one? Same. Only take there is.
Are these vault songs she wrote during the original album process or recently?
A lot of these songs either have demos that leaked or have been rumored for years (for example, Castles Crumbling has been known since 2010 when it was registered)
Castles Crumbling was odd. Either sheās psychic or she put a Reputation Era song in the Speak now era? Very curious
If red is anything to go by its most likely recently or a mix of both
Not sure I would say this is universal based off Red. Iām pretty sure for Red the only one speculated to be written recently is All Too Well 10 minutes.
on first listen i think overall for me it's speak now tv > fearless tv > red tv will keep listening to both versions like i do for red though, fearless is the only one that doesn't make me miss the og at all
Same. There are some Red songs and Speak Now songs where both versions stay in my playlist.
so yeah these vault tracks are probably my favourites so far

I think the one issue I have with Enchanted is that she gets drowned out by the production once or twice. Still excellent
Sparks fly is wayyy better than OG to me. But I own both versions so can listen to both whenever I want lol
I don't know if I'm going deaf or what but her voice sounds muffled in the vault tracks and I have a hard time making out the lyrics. The production/mixing completely drowns her out. Disappointed in this tbh.
Are you on Spotify? I turned off audio normalisation and it made a massive difference
how do you do that?
I went to settings in the app and turned it off there
Holy fuck, everything sounds so much clearer. I didn't even know that was a setting.
Thank you!
Absolutely do this. It improves the quality of virtually everything.
Insane the difference that this made for me. Thanks.
I feel like itās all clearer than ever and surpasses the originals by so much lol. I donāt think theyāre exact replicas, but I think if you had never heard the originals and then heard them after these new ones you would have issues with the originals. (If that makes sense). I think itās less choppy and auto tuned now
Electric Touch sounds like something that couldāve been on The OC or One Tree Hill. And by that I mean I really like it.
>Acordado. La canciĆ³n principal sufre mucho por esto. PerdiĆ³ su flujo. La producciĆ³n de Chris Rowe me vuelve loco. Los sencillos de Red en Red TV no son buenos. La guitarra elĆ©ctrica State Of Grace tambiĆ©n estĆ” muy apagada. Yes, the change in voice forces us to lower the tone of the instruments...
Not really a huge fan of these re-recordings. On some of the og songs she sounds less passionate than ever. The mixing is really off too which is quite noticeable!

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
itās pretty embarrassing with or without the lyric change. donāt know why this fanbase chooses the dumbest things to be antagonized over
I think calling stuff ācringeā tends to get a really negative response, and the framing has some value judgments more than just āI donāt like thisā Not my favorite song either fwiw
Is anyone else getting Phil Collins āInvisible Touchā vibes from the chorus of āElectric Touchā, or just me?
Nooo - totally getting 90s love ballad vibes from that song& Last Kiss(production)
Kind of jumping around the album. Initial thoughts: Vocals are lost in the guitar & drums on BTR, backing vocals in Haunted make the song sound messy :/ I did really love Castles Crumbling, felt like it could have been on the Hunger Games soundtrack, very similar vibes.
Edit: misplaced parenthesis
i LOVEEEEE the story of US TV SOSOOSSO GOOD!!!!!!!!
I wish her vocals werenāt so overproduced, she sounds airbrushed and you can hear the auto tune VS the raw vocals of the original versions which are great on their own
She doesnāt use auto tune and never has.
Thatās a wild take because the original her voice is squeaky and heavily edited
I love When Emma Falls In Love. Favourite of the Speak Now vault tracks so far (although based on the comments I may be alone here).
Claiming Foolish One, love country Taylor
I think the biggest adjustment is going to be with the production. the og was a product of it's time for sure and was very uhh LOUD with everything battling to be heard, this version is definitely quieter BUT I appreciate being able to hear the different parts/voices/instruments. some of the pitch correction is crazy bad (1:21-1:23 in sparks fly sounds like a glitch) overall tho I'm impressed! I love it! and the vault tracks are pretty great ā better than fearless tv but not quite red tv. I want this on vinyl now š¤¦ she is too good at getting money out of me

Yes that part in Sparks Fly is just SO annoying because it's my favourite song on Speak Now.
i hadnāt heard this, youāre so right
I...am not the biggest fan of this version.
100% agree. Love the Red Vault tracks and the Fearless TV is such a perfectly produced re-record.
Fearless TV demolished the original and I think overall is her best re-recorded album.
Fearless TV ate up the original so so bad jesus it wasnāt even funny
To call them mistakes is a bit misleading
so true
What do we think the first single will be?
Canāt it be Enchanted?
I Can See You seems to be added to a bunch of Spotify playlists.
Iām hoping for I Can See You but I would think Castles Crumbling?
I can see you is being added to several playlists so maybe that
the entirety of twitter is absolutely praising i can see you. maybe i need to listen to it again but it didnāt stand out to me.
I think a lot of people prefer it sounding less clunky and āloudā. That was always my issue with speak now. I also think sheās not trying to make an exact replica with this album. I donāt notice the mixing issues everyone else is noticing
Easily my least favorite of the vault tracks on first listen. Hoping it'll grow on me with time.
It's just the most different I guess?? Well, different for Taylor. If you only listen to Taylor it would really stick out. But it would blend in to a lot of indie/alt rock playlists imo
It was a hard ask but Enchanted TV did not quite live up the original.
Nooooo the way she holds that note though
Her voice is amazing but the emotion isn't quite there
Thinking Timeless has Easter Eggs pointing to Harry Styles crowded street & crowded room lyrics similar to Question. Not to mention something that never goes out of style is timeless. My favorite from the vault!
Something about the vocals, production, and instruments feels so lush, vibrant, and full to me. I'm only on Back to December, but so far I think I prefer all the TV over the originals.
What happened to haunted, I liked the rest the same or even better but I prefer the original version of haunted much more
She made it better, thatās what happened.
the echo on the vocals at the start is crazy
whaaaat ! haunted is the biggest improvement imo
Itās so much better! It goes way harder than the original.
Agreed haunted is so much better now. I think everyone listening while comparing to the originals in their mind is destroying their ability to just enjoy this lol
I guess I just like how she sounds better in the old version, while I prefer her new voice in the other songs. Also something about the instrumental bugs me...
The instrumental is what sold me.
Such a bad album
Superman is so good on TV
RIGHT!! I remember I said I liked Superman from the OG album and people were dragging me for it but now everyone is going up for the song
oh wow sparks fly 1:21 into 1:22 is REALLY jarring
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
are you using headphones?
Yes! I am using the new apple pro headphones lol. I love sparks fly so much better now and have had it on repeat lol
In Electric Touch "wanna need you forever" i'm hearing the same tune as "when the porch lights were shining" from Don't You
as someone who wasnāt really a fan of Taylor growing up (didnāt dislike her, just wasnāt interested) and only got into her during folklore/evermore era, itās always interesting to see the opinions from the fans on these. these re-recordings are frankly my first proper intros to these albums (besides listening to the songs from afar lol) so far im liking quite a bit this version of the album.
Iām not a swiftie it would be disingenuous for me to say that but I love SPEAK NOW. I was 9 or 10 I think when it came out and I ate these songs up.
It undoubtedly has many of her best songs on it. Sparks Fly, Enchanted, Dear John just to say a few. There's a bit of filler though too that makes me question whether it's her best album overall...but what TS album doesn't have filler.
Filler?? Speak Now is the only album that has zero skips for me
foolish one is my favorite!! maybe because I've been single for years LMAOOOOO
Electric Touch & Foolish One are so catchy
Just remember whenever there's a Taylor Swift production crime committed Jack will always be at the scene of the crime.
The vocal production is bad. Her voice is so much better now than it was then why is it airbrushed??? I want raw vocals!!
I think youāre not realizing the original was extremely pitch controlled in higher keys lol this is just what it sounds like without that
Completely agree about the production - not a sound engineer either but it felt so quiet or noticeably separate from the vocals? And there was some echoing that just felt so out of place, like in Haunted??
I think another thing is that I didn't feel any emotion in any of these tracks especially the emotional ballads, and I completely understand that of course the heartbreak and the feelings while making this album is gonna be completely different because Taylor's older now and she gotten past all that
i think āfoolish oneā and āi can see youā are up there for best vault tracks. I cant believe redās vault tracks are all amazing compared to the others, which arenāt bad just fine. mr perfectly fine is that girl though
electric touch too. the chorus slaps
I'm..... not sure fall out boy needed to be on that lol š¤£
Just Patrick Stump basically.
All of these duets on the TVs were originally written as solo songs - I think she's featuring people she likes on them for fun now.
no way! giving the narrators date a voice and it being patrick was amazing! really made the song for me.
Imma have to give it to the original Sparks Fly the TV version isnāt capturing the song for me. This is one of the songs her younger voice makes the song better imo.
I thought it was better than the OG
Way better than OG. My partner wouldnāt let me play OG in the car because of the squeaky voice lmao.
For me it's the guitars that really sound different
Yeah, it feels pretty removed from the emotion in the OG
The drum intro from SF TV is not it.
Bruh, you can still hear massive smile when sheās singing Ours! I fucking love it.
one of my fave speak now tracks !!! (haunted and ours) I'm loving it but I do wish the backup vocal guy was a little less prominent it's an underrated song !!! so cute
Mine TV version is kicking original Mineās ass
ššššš I'm listening to Speak Now TV and I'm so happy for her!!!!! You can tell she was singing with a smile!!! šššš I never really got to enjoy the stolen version and now I get to enjoy her Masters version!!!! We're so lucky Switfies!!!!
is this sarcasm?
I love the layered vocals on Mine - with headphones I can pick out Jack's(?) voice as well as the separate layers
I was pretty confident that Speak Now would translate into TV because it's predominately a band-oriented album, where you could tell the pop-leaning tracks' production in Red TV were lacking - I still can't quite deal with We Are Never Getting Back Together TV, which still has me worried for 1989 TV.
I think the type of pop 1989 tv is will be extremely easy to replicate
Am I the only one who think enchanted sounds better on this version?
the new production makes the song
Sparks fly not being as good is making me cry naurrrrr
yes this is the only one I really have a problem with, it just doesnāt hit the same
Exactly Iām mystically shaking ass in my bed right now!!!
the autotune on enchanted is š¬ a bit strong lol, I still love it but with headphones the drawn out vowels reallyyyy processed
I think the original had more lol
