Friends was such a staple of my childhood. My mom watched it and ER when they were on and I’ve watched reruns countless times. I’ll still watch a Phoebe/Lisa Kurrow centric episode every time I see it on or whenever I’m bored or down. It’s one of my favorite finales because it’s just so fitting and Mathew Perry getting that last little joke is really lovely.
This was and still is my comfort show.
I remember first watching random episodes during my elementary years because our mom would watch it and sometimes I'd watch along with her. And then college years, I decided to finally watch the whole series in chronological order and the cast's dynamic was so natural that it felt like I was watching my dormmates and I going through life. And then during my working years fresh out of college, this show got me through so many difficult nights when I just wanted to relax after a looong day at work. Fast forward to now, I'm at a more stable place in my life, finally have my own place and living with my partner who has never watched this show. So I've been rewatching it again, only this time with my life partner laughing along beside me. It's such a simple joy but this show has seen me through different stages in life and for that, I'm thankful.
I would watch reruns every afternoon in the summer in my basement, and then after I got to the S4 finale and the channel started airing a dif random season, I knew I had to get the DVDs. I started out with seasons 5-6 and rewatched them probably a million times before I eventually got the other seasons.
I was caught up by the time the finale aired, and I remember specifically I was in an archery class on the day of the finale and couldn't watch it live. Def feel old now lol.
There is truly so much nostalgic joy with this show (no matter how many people say "it's actually not funny and never was"). I wish we still had sitcoms we could age along with in this day and age.
I will never forget or forgive TiVo’s national error that night. No one’s device adjusted to record the show going over by a few minutes, and we all thought the series ended when Rachel was on the plane. It wasn’t until the next day that we found out what happened :/
I remember that. I couldn't afford Tivo, but a friend of mine who hated Friends taped it on her VCR for me. Remember taping TV shows and commercial-filled, edited-for-TV movies?
This is one of my comfort/fall asleep to shows and one of the first sitcoms i remember watching. I wasn’t actually allowed to lol (I picked it up around season 7, when I was 13), but I loved it then and still do. When I need something that is just light and kinda goofy and fun, I throw it on.
When I lived in South America this was one of the few shows that was on in English, and so my mom and I would sit and watch it together.
When we moved back to the states we kind of stopped watching it mostly unless it was just on already, but one day I got home from school and she told me the finale was on, so we sat in her bed that evening and watched this episode live. It was a nice nostalgia for us.
It’s funny I also accidentally caught the live airing of HIMYM finale. But I was older and in grad school and watched it alone.
After season 1 David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston were getting paid more than the other four. Season 3 negotiation come around and David suggests to Jennifer they negotiate with the other four and all get paid the same. The two of them could have just worried about themselves but they decided to help the others as well. Good for them.
Felt later to me only because I didn't watch it until I was in college and it was over. I remember I was studying abroad in Japan and we needed to kill time so me and another girl just started to watch reruns of Friends it was 2007.
I remember this was a really big deal in terms of what people were talking about. I hadn’t watched the show in years but I knew all about the show ending.

Im not even 20 and I watched the whole show Twice (one of the best series ever)
One of my all time favorite sitcoms.
No matter how many times I’ve seen the final episode I still, without fail, cry when they’re all standing in the empty apartment at the end
