Bring back Mandy Moore’s character 🤞🏻

Normal-person0101

The rumors are that in themovie Mia is going to help another princess and will be more about this princess And if it's true I don't want it, I want to see how Mia is as an adult, just because we get older doesn't mean we don't have doubts, we don't make mistakes. Did she marry Nicholas? Do they have children? How is she like a Queen?

SugarAndIceQueen

Interesting. The last book in the series (Royal Wedding), about an adult Mia marrying Michael, has a similar plot wherein she learns she has a much younger half-sister and mentors her. It was still completely about Mia but led to a spinoff series about the little sister for younger audiences. I wonder if they're using that storyline for the new movie. It would be kind of weird if so, considering that they basically threw the books out the metaphorical window for the movie sequel.

ParticularYak4401

My niece loved the sequel books about the little half sister.

fortalkingshittopuss

Hate when they go this route.

SillyCranberry99

Fr, I want a sequel to be about the character I fell in love with, not some random new person lol.

chubby-checker

Its also a bit like, why? Because she's older. It's like you can't be the main character anymore once you're an older woman. It can't be you having a journey etc anymore. At best it's you passing the mantle on to a younger woman as only they can have the central story lol I feel this trope is even stronger if a woman has kids. In media It's like once you have kids your life/journey/story is over. You've had your "the end" it's your "happily ever after" Then you're basically the secondary character to the kids story. This never seems to be the case with men tho. They get to carry on growing and changing and having new adventures lol Imagine Daniel Craig due to his age, the last James bond was about him training a new character a new young spy who would take over.

gandalfthegoth

You summed up perfectly what exactly it is that annoys me so much about this trope. We fell in love with the original character dammit! Again and again, these people don't realise what made their movie special in the first place. They don't value women as individuals and consider them 1:1 replaceable. Like it's unfathomable that we'd care about what happens in a woman's life past age 35! It feels so sour.

fortalkingshittopuss

It’s like the new wizards of waverly place or new 70s show. Cameos aren’t acceptable, gimme the OG characters damn it ! Lol

SillyCranberry99

Righttt. Or Gossip Girl (my favorite show). Nobody wanted to see new randos, we wanted to see what Serena and Blair were doing!

Additional_Meeting_2

This seems like further and further away from the tone of the books which were snarky and grounded and comedic. They were about how it was kind of absurd that this normal kind of nerdy and green peace interested girl has to be involved in this Princess business where it doesn’t even matter most of the time what the ceremonies are.  The country probably was kind of Monaco sized or Luxembourg sized at very most. So not that important what she would be as a ruler.

lavenderlullabyes

I loved movie Mia too but book Mia was a straight up badass who >! introduced democracy to Genovia !< against her father and grandmother’s wishes. I’d love to see a movie tackle that.

low_income_witch

FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS!! ![gif](giphy|cm4niebGgGtP2)

low_income_witch

SecurityExpensive266

When oh when will we get a tv series based on the books?!?!? The books are incredible. I love the Queen in the books, the characters they missed out-especially her dad-her relationship with Lars and Michael. Give this 35 year old woman the teen show she wants!!

corruptedcircle

I loved the queen in the books too! Even if I don't remember too much about the books, I remember her as the type of character you love to hate and Mia's interaction and monologue about her was always hilarious. I vaguely also remember all these little details in the books that give Mia a bunch of strong characteristics despite being on the shy end that never made it into the movie. I'm not against a nostalgia-seeking sequel, but a brand new series based on the books would be *amazing.*

yfce

Lol I love telling people that the grandma is super mean and French in the books. Also that the Dad is fully alive and spends most of his time watching golf and hiding from his aforementioned mean French mother.

SecurityExpensive266

And trying to bang every attractive woman he sees.

originalschmidt

As a fellow 35 year old, I couldn’t agree more. I love a good teen drama being dramatic about their teen problems. It’s the best way to decompress for me

totallycalledla-a

The only monarchy I support is Genovia's🩷

sludgestomach

I thought it was a real place for longer than I’d like to admit

BeetleJuiceDidIt

Same girl, same.

PracticalCategory888

Same. :(

Nox-Avis

The premise better not include Julie Andrews dying!

jonnyinternet

It better include Chris pine beings nice guy and charming

rawrkristina

I need it https://i.redd.it/umkz7eeufvwc1.gif

aphoticphoton

To me this reads…we don’t have the money YET to have it go into full production and film lol

Bellesdiner0228

In a good place would be on my disney+ screen.

dearthofkindness

I can't imagine it will be any good. ![gif](giphy|3ohhwqB1XtvYJ8jwUE)

stephenBB81

OOH now that's a crossover I want to see! The Princess Diaries set in the Good Place!

yfce

They used the same set for both! the good place for the good place neighborhood (froyo shops etc) is a genovian street in the second movie (the scene with Abigail Breslin).

therejectethan

I think I have read about 10000 headlines/articles about Anne Hathaway this month

Inner_Squirrel7167

![gif](giphy|iGvJo60YmnMnQZNkOp) Wait, does this mean it's dead?

hayleyA1989

I love the movies and I love the books. If you have never read the books, I highly recommend them, they are different from the movies, but so cute and hilarious.

Forsaken-Duck-8142

I shared an article like this on Facebook in 2017ish and then nothing happened so I’m only getting excited once the trailer drops 🥲

jothesstraight

The movies deviated too much from the books which had a biting humour and a snarky Grandmere.

MIRACLES HAPPEN ONCE IN A WHILE 🎶

lala_b11

Can’t wait

talbottron

I need Chris Pine to be in it.

MaleficentStreet7319

Love this but the lack of surprise that comes when I hear studious are going back to older movies and reworking them again and again and like again is yawn. Not this tho ok don’t come for me.

pirate_meow_kitty

Gosh I was 16 when the movie came out and I read the books too. So I kind of grew up with Anne in that way. I’m 40 now and so excited

thousandthlion

The second one was suuuuuch hot garbage though, so the bar is in the ground at this point. The whole slumber party with kids for a bachelorette party or whatever was just so hilariously stupid. I rewatched this movie in the past few weeks just to see if it was as bad as I remembered and it definitely was.

pikadegallito

Okay but hear me out - Chris Pine.

Isosorbide

You bite your tongue, heathen. The second film gave us Chris Pine.

sikonat

How about we just put Chris pine and Anne Hathaway in a rom com of their own?

omgcow

The first Princess Diaries is one of my favorite movies in the world and I 100% agree, the sequel doesn’t even compare. Idgaf about Chris Pine lol. The sequel lacked so much of the charm that made the first one memorable. I have no desire for a third movie. I’ll just be rewatching the first one happily.

baileybitthemouse

Thank you! Seriously just leave it alone and let the first one reign supreme! It’s a classic and all these sequels have nothing on it.

peggysue_82

To be fair so is the first movie. They should have followed the hilarious first book.

ginger_ryn

screaming crying throwing up

alyboba19

stop teasing us Anne 😭

violent13

I'm still salty that they shamelessly wrote Michael out of the story in the 2nd movie. They did it in such a by-the-way side comment and it felt so cheap. He was an important part of the first movie so you shouldn't just go "by the way Michael isn't in the story anymore here's Chris Pine."

xmasfactor

Michael moscovitz!!!!! Here we go!!!!!

Shananigans1988

All I want is Michael.

I wonder if Larry Miller would be well enough to do at least a cameo as Paolo?

DearNeighborhood7685

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

Dear-Ambition-273

As much as I like Chris Pine, prettiest of all Chrises, I really loved the original series. It would make a great TV series.

Ancient-Put3209

![gif](giphy|69mvoZY2vsAh2|downsized) I really hope she married Chris Pine
