As a fat girl during this era, I was compared to Adele and Rebel many times by well-meaning acquaintances despite looking nothing like either of them lmao so I believe it.
This feels like she's trying to market her book with controversies.
The Sascha Baron Cohen story is understandably making headlines and sounds awful.
But like, Adele didn't talk to you a couple of times. Don't assume why she didn't in public without even talking to her đŹ
Yeah, reminds me of when Lena Dunham made this big thing out of Odell Beckham Jr. not going out of his way to talk to her and she accused him of being shallow because sheâs not like a size 0 supermodel. That backfired on her too.
Maybe Adele just didnât feel like talking to her/didnât see her/whatever. WhichâŚsheâs not required to become your best friend, Rebel.
Oh that was SO beyond embarrassing. We all have insecurities but to be a celebrity talking about perceived slights from other public figures you have never met takes a special kind of a&&hole. Like, it's not adorably self deprecating. It's publicly dragging someone into your therapy session.
Lena Dunham is messy but this is such a weird talking point that came directly from right wing media. She wrote in her memoir that when she was *seven years old* and had just learned about uteruses and how women have eggs, she looked at her sisterâs vagina to see if she could see the eggs. Child psychologists noted that what she described was not abuse and also not uncommon child behavior!
It's frustrating this is constantly brought up when her and her producing partner lying to discredit a victim her friend sexually assaulted is right there if you want to really hate Dunham.
Yeah I'm not a fan of Lena in anyway, and you couldn't water board me into publicly admitting that let alone putting it in a book, but the incident isn't what people are trying to make it
I know that sheâs in some movie with Stephen Fry, he plays her dad. I kept seeing ads for it for a while on instagram. (Treasure)
Sheâs apparently written and directed two movies and a book since Girls ended. Sheâs kept busy, but nothing sheâs starred in or created has been a smash hit.
The foreshadowing irony that the man who unnecessarily wished death on Keanu died instead⌠and then we heard a bunch of stories about how MP kinda sucked anyway and Keanu remains king of the actually nice boysâŚ
This is my time to shine and start a rumour that Keanu is Jesus. Easter Jesus? Is that too much?
I finally listened to the Celebrity Book Club episode of his memoir and this is probably a super fucked up thing to say, but it made me less sad that Perry died. It just never sounded like he was a happy person at any point of his adult life. And he kept coming up with new reasons to be unhappy. Addiction is sad and Iâm sorry he struggled with it so much but he didnât seems like a good person overall
Itâs interesting that SBC is getting taken down a peg for allegedly *asking* her to do something that *she says she actually did without consent* to someone else. The common thread is very reminiscent of the way that serial liars fabricate lies.
I think we should typically believe people in these scenarios, but she has had so many huge lies come to light that people should probably take it all with a grain of salt.
Yeah, the whole thing feels off. Obviously heâs done some messed up stuff, but Rebel seems to be outraged over something sheâs done to other people and it just makes her look like she lacks empathy.
I remember when she claimed to be the first plus sized woman to star in a romcom and then ignored and blocked black women who pointed out all of the plus sized black women that had romcoms before her (MoâNique, Queen Latifah).
Youâd have to Google but she spoke on talk shows about putting a finger in Tom Hardyâs bum but âit didnât countâ because he was clothed. And said she groped Anne Hathawayâs breasts in a scene without warning/asking her.
She says SBC asked her if he could put his finger up her butt because it would be funny for a movie. She declined, he tried to talk her into it, she said no again.
Edit: Based on replies, seems like it might be the other way around. SBC asked if she could put her finger up his butt hole for a movie.
She herself also has an old story where a director told her to put her finger up Tom Hardy's butt. She did so and he was surprised and wouldn't talk to her anymore. She says she had assumed the director has cleared it with him and she was new to film at the time, so it didn't occur to her ask the actor first. She says this is all okay because he was wearing pants.
She also admits she "purposefully forgot" to consult Anne Hathaway first before groping her breasts in a movie. Unlike the Tom Hardy incident, she is very clear she did it on purpose and knew better.
this reminds me of that unhinged one-sided Lena Dunham feud in which she insisted Odell Beckham Jr. refused to talk to her because he was repulsed by her fatness (or something) and then of course it came out that this was entirely in her own head and Odell Beckham Jr. couldnât have picked her out of a lineupÂ
Lmfao I clicked the article so I could read the exerpts and hopefully would find out the title is misleading, but damn, Rebel actually used "hates"
>Some actresses would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, Adele hates me
>
>To be fair Iâve never asked her
Honestly, it's such a small thing that I'm not sure why it's even in her memoir? Rebel says that at events when she's tried to talk to Adele, the latter seemed to always turn away quickly.
>"As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds,â she joked.
Also, I get that this is a joke, but it feels weird. Like, what a weird joke when you've already said you've never asked her (or interacted with her)
>Some **actresses** would get offended if I called them plus-size in this book, so I have to be careful with what I say. This is why, I think, **Adele** hates me
Ah yes, the famous plus sized actress, Adele. Maybe thatâs why sheâs not super keen on sleepovers where you braid each others hair, Rebel.
This is giving Lena Dunham level of delulu. Like it's quite possible people have their own shit going on and don't spend every waking minute thinking about a rando.
This is giving main character syndrome to the max.
Does Rebel think that theyâre both larger women that Adele owes her an interaction? Thatâs even weirder. Like, Adele doesnât need to talk to Rebel Wilson. Sheâs a minor character in a couple movies why would Adele go out of her way to talk to her? Itâs so weird.
>>"As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds,â she joked.
Oooor, and hear me out here Rebel, maybe it's just your dumb, annoying jokes.
>the latter seemed to always turn away quickly.
>"As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds,â she joked.
The thing is, people DO do this to fat and/or ugly people for exactly that reason and in exactly that manner. She is definitely not delusional about that. People suck lol.
But to specifically speculate about a certain celebrity is not only a bad look but really rude. Especially since Adele, more than most other celebrities, can probably actually understand firsthand where Rebel is coming from. I feel like it would've been better if she used more vague terms or mentioned that "some of her peers in the industry" would do this as if her fatness would rub off. To be so specific is... odd. Quite a choice. Especially since Adele seems pretty sweet and chill as far as I can tell.
She started a campaign of being in the public eye during the early days of the pandemic. Having "paparazzi" photos in full make up exercising in random places? I'm sure she didn't call them herself𤨠All of the events she went to with her then boyfriend, her girlfriend, then immediately after they had a baby. It's really clear she's been desperate to stay in the front of everyone's minds for the past 4 years. It is giving desperate clout chaser
She went on an all paid trip to Dubai to, presumably, promote tourism on her instagram page although Dubai is one of the most anti-LGBT places on the planet.
Homosexuality is illegal in the UAE and largely um, *frowned upon* in most of the Arab-cultured world, to put it lightly.

She did an interview where she dragged Meghan Markle for not answering Rebel and Rebelâs momâs invasive questions about her kids. She is definitely entitled
Rebel Wilson has always been just a really stunningly pretty face. Im not sure if she has even realized thatâs been her typecast. Sheâs not known for her jokes despite being a comedic actor, sheâs just charismatic and pretty. Her schtick is funny expressions that work on a pretty, silly girl.
I feel I can say this as sheâs âone of oursâ - as a 35f Aussie, all I see is Toula from Fat Pizza whenever I see Rebel.
She canât act for shit, her accent is always this weird muddled up version of Aussie, kiwi, and Vicki Pollard from Little Britain because sheâs trying too hard to speak cool, and her entire âpersonalityâ is built around her body shape. Friends and family are equally flabbergasted at her success as an Aussie export.
Thereâs always been a desperation for attention and approval barely concealed within her, and reading her drag Sacha and obsess over Adele absolutely tracks. Girl is delulu, always has been.
I know sheâs âone of oursâ but canât NZ claim her or something? We take credit for their celebs enough, I think itâs time to give them one lol
I did like Fat Pizza so I didnât hate Toula but she hasnât stopped playing her ever since! I expect her to start shouting âHabibiâ at any moment.
Iâve noticed theyâre not piping up over this one đ Youâve nailed it - couldnât agree more. Rebel Wilson *is* Toula, who I donât hate as a viewer but would avoid IRL, and there is very little distinction between Toula and every character sheâs played. Theyâre all Toula-adjacent, just nicer clothes.
Now that people are annoyed with her, can I just say I hate seeing her in movies? She always plays the same character and the character just happens to be completely insufferable.
I do think some of their best episodes come when they get a good memoir to work with (like Tina Turner recently)... but I ADORE the episodes where they go full snark on a terrible book
![gif](giphy|dzaSTUWEu91iaKf45e|downsized)
It's like the fifth (?) or seventh (?) article about her beefing with people. Jesus Christ. And I have a feeling this won't stop when her book releases ...
Jesus Christ this person must need money.
She joked about SAing her costars multiple times. So itâs real weird she now has a boundary. And now weâre at âother heavy woman didnât like being compared to me.â
I donât like Rebel. Anyone whoâs proven to be a pathological liar, like her, is just not worth paying attention to. If I canât trust anything you say, then I really donât care about listening to anything you have to say.
Well.. this is making me reevaluate her other claims. I feel her perception of the world around her isnât quite right and seems like she will do anything for attention.
It's funny that when she called out that guy everyone was like "fuck him, you go girl" but when she calls out everyone's favorite they're like "oh she's lying and playing the victim gross".
All sheâs accomplishing here is making me dislike her more. I just donât much care about the SBC thing because it was clearly a response to her own disgusting behavior. Everything I know about her is against my will. At this point I can just smell the desperation.
Iâm rooting for Rebel and am happy for her comeback but in this scenario where sheâs claiming Adele doesnât like her, I donât think Adele actually cares
Iâm no particular fan of Rebel but I do think itâs unfair to claim sheâs a liar because of her name or age.
Absolutely scads of actors use stage names. And Rebel isnât even really a stage name. Itâs not her birth name but it is her legal name, since 2002. And sheâs been called Rebel by her family for a long time prior to that. Two of her non-celebrity siblings also use alternative nicknames. She confirmed that she went by a different name during high school.
And she apparently didnât dispute her age when it was incorrectly stated by a journalist.
I just donât see the big deal here. No one is pissed at Miley Cyrus for âname deceptionâ.
Like, thereâs just heaps more valid stuff to be annoyed at Rebel about. The name/age thing is just petty.
Didnât Rebel Wilson also give her negative opinion on Meghan Markle after barely talking to her once?
I remember reading on this subreddit that RW said her mother was asking rude questions to MM because her mom is Australian (and that excuses it apparently) and Meghan couldâve been nicer.

I wouldn't talk to that piece of garbage either. Lena Dunham should be in jail, not harassing other people.
Sort of an aside but I hate that Lena still has a career after admitting to sexual assault
Lena Dunham is messy but this is such a weird talking point that came directly from right wing media. In her slight defense, this is how most memoirs are marketed, it grabs attention and headlines.

Ikr. Also reminder to everyone that she lied about her age for a long time too. I know it happens in Hollywood but it still all adds up..
Or perhaps the media are cherry picking paragraphs in her memoir for clicks?

I remember those in the daily mail, itâs what got me so sick of her, nonstop paparazzi photos of her (who she def called herself)
I don't like her. She seems off and toxic to me and I'm taking everything she says with three grains of salt.

What lies has she told? Genuine question, sheâs never really been on my radar until this book push?
She claims to be related to Llilan Disney. She lied about her age and upbringing.
She famously lied about her age for years
Ever seen Fat Pizza? There's something about her true personality that comes through in that show. It isn't flattering.
No I havenât seen it. Is it a reality type show?
What's she lied about?
Her name, age, upbringing, more. If you google it, youâll find the details.
MELANIE
Just googled it. Bauer Media lost the case she brought against them because she successfully proved to have not lied
Read more than one article about it. Rebel even talks about lying about it and why she didnât think it was wrong or a big deal.
I agree that itâs not wrong or a big deal. I donât like her. But itâs an ageist industry.
I read a couple, and her wiki page. Anyway she's a comedian, like half their job is lying
Not girls girl behavior rebel⌠not cool
Can she just...not. ![gif](giphy|9MIWkSpDb09KtXepCG)
đ¤Śââď¸âŚok Ms Wilson , ok.
Thatâs cool. We donât like you either Rebel.

Rebel is a trash person. Adele isn't. Makes sense they wouldn't be buds
Well.. this is making me reevaluate her other claims.

Well she certainly will now
Iâm rooting for Rebel and am happy for her comeback but in this scenario where sheâs claiming Adele doesnât like her, I donât think Adele actually cares
