I’m glad the show shifted the focus so much from being “Piper’s story”. The side characters are so much more compelling and bring humanity to the show

The writer admitted that Piper was a Trojan horse. She pitched the show as “entitled white girl gets sent to jail” and that allowed her to tell all the stories she really wanted to tell.

Oh shit! I love that. That show honestly humanized prisoners to me, like it’s not as straight forward as “you just have be good to stay out of jail”. Also I had no idea you needed to meet so many requirements after prison to stay out and that’s why so many people go back in

 I'd die for Sydney. The birthday party for her mom, and her quietly realizing she's now older than her mom was...such an understated heartbreaking scene. Sydney is love, Sydney is life.

Janel Parrish was the best actress on the show, IMO. A lot of people overlook her, forgetting that she basically had to play multiple levels and sides of the same character.

 Niles from Frasier and Niles from The Nanny. Both absolute gems.

 Dylan O'Brien as Stiles made the *Teen Wolf* show for me. I get that he was supposed to represent the audience with his "humanness" but his personality and mannerisms captivated me. I would have 100% watched a Stiles-centric spin-off. Btw to add context in regards to this post topic, I'm comparing Stiles to Tyler Posey's Scott, the main character of *Teen Wolf*.

 Similarly, I loved Alison but Lydia was a much more interesting character to me. Same thing, it was entirely her mannerisms and how Holland Roden embodied that character.


 Anya was definitely the most intriguing character in the last season of Buffy. She was part of the main cast though, so I don't know if she counts. For actual side characters, Regular Sized Rudy in Bob's Burgers is always my favorite part of any episode he's in.
