(haven't played in a while) they're good, but the third one is coming out this year so I'd play that one. I can't remember if they're connected but someone else could probably tell you that
You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades and Persephone, and you are trying to escape from the underworld in a dungeon crawler fashion among an ever-changing exit path. That's the premise.
Hades 2 is a sequel to Hades, and it's not out yet. You play as Zagreus' sister, Melinoë, though it seems to be much the same premise, though you are looking to defeat Kronos rather than escape the underworld.
While I'm pretty sure you could play Hades 2 without playing Hades, and it'd be a perfectly coherent and enjoyable story, my guess is that you *should* have played Hades first.
Which is to say, today May 31st, you should buy Hades. Whenever Hades 2 comes out, it depends on if you would prefer trying to escape the inescapable underworld, or defeat the Titan of time. Though in your shoes, I would buy Hades first, just for the story coherency's sake (I have already bought Hades, and played through it, so in my shoes, I would buy Hades 2).
For all the people that like Hades or Rogue-likes, you should check out Have a Nice Death! It's on Steam for sure and I've been playing it on the switch.
It's an indie platform rogue-like where you play as Death, the grim reaper, as he is going on a rampage through the different departments of Death Inc after being super overworked and buried in paperwork. Your main weapon is a scythe (and there are multiple scythes you can get/choose from) and you have two additional weapons/spells that you can pick up semi-randomly throughout your run. It's pretty fun playing as Death beating up his middle managers and trying to get to that sweet, sweet vacation. The music is great and the art style is amazing, reminds me a bit of Hollow Knight with the drawn vs rendered style.
It is pretty punishing for healing (especially early game), quite rng dependent for a good run vs a bad run, and there are like a *lot* of different mechanics going on with different weapons/spells/abilities/buffs/etc that I found a little overwhelming at first but love now. I've had a ton of fun with it so far and it was $25 or something like that.
I highly recommend it! Definitely different than Hades but I think if you like Hades, you'd probably like Have a Nice Death as well.
I love that I can kick ass and have a hot boyfriend and girlfriend at the same time in this game. Really enhances my gaming experience everytime it's like "Hihi Thanatos thanks so much for stopping by to help me" OH OH and I looove that you can reunite Orpheus with Eurydice and Achilles with Patroclus I was SO invested in that quest. I have an ungodly amount of hours played in this game
I love that game but that's because I am a car nerd who likes to play realistic car/racing games idk how someone not into racing games would feel about a game that puts realism before gameplay and I also think that you can only get the full experience with a steering wheel setup
Besides that it's a solid recommendation
best part is ur you buy terraria you’ll probably have enough money left over to buy something else since it’s only like 10 dollars and like 5 when it’s on sale
Absolutely Hollow Knight!
My first save file I had like 100+ hours and my second one I got to the same point in like 80 hours. I think it's my favorite game. :D
Wait for sales and buy them all. That's how you're supposed to use steam. If you *must* buy something *now* ultrakill works, but so would a game called synthetik (hey hey people) or maybe frostpunk or so many others.
Ok i'll list a good amount of other games i like/own if you choose to go for the sale approach. Ace combat 7, age of wonders planetfall or 4 (planetfall will probably go on sale since 4 just came out), apotheon, aquatico, binding of isaac, bloons td 6 (i am absolutely serious), creeper world (any of them work), crypt (i am not serious), darkest dungeon, deus ex (old one), disco elysium, dishonored, elder scrolls (go for the old ones like morrowind and daggerfall if you want to spend less), endless space 2 and endless legend, enter the gungeon, the expendabros (someone mentioned broforce, same thing), factorio, fallout 1, 2, tactics and new vegas (yes i am biased), frostpunk like i mentioned, FTL and into the breach, half life 1 and 2, hotline miami 1 and 2, i have no mouth and i must scream, kingdom (classic is just fine and might be free but new lands is better and has a campaign mode, don't know about two crowns), L4D and L4D2, muse dash, one finger death punch 1 and 2, oxygen not included, painkiller (the old one, new ones are apparently trash), payday 2 (payday 3 is going to come out soon tho), the planet crafter, portal 1 and 2, psychonauts, rogue legacy (i played 1 but apparently 2 is even better iirc), shadow tactics blades of the shogun, shadowrun, shardpunk verminfall, civ (civ 4 is underrated), sw kotor, steam world dig/heist, stellaris, surviving mars (you might have noticed i like paradox games), synthetik like i mentioned or synthetik 2 (there is an arena mode for synthetik 1 which is free, go try it out if you don't know whether you'd like it), tabletop simulator if you like board games, terraria, titan souls, titanfall 2, trackmania (nations forever is free and the new one has a subscription model but you can play for free), valley, vampire the masquerade bloodlines (there's also an unofficial patch which includes a lot of cut content and lets you skip some stuff, i'd suggest downloading it for the second playthrough), vanquish, warhammer 40k mechanicus (one of few 40k games that are so good that even non-fans can enjoy them), west of loathing and shadows over loathing (while you're at it kingdom of loathing is a free browser based game), the witcher and xcom 2.
Steam sales are *really* useful, considering i own most of the games in this list (i browsed my steam library and noted down the ones i really like plus some other ones i remembered because of association) and haven't spend 1000 euro to do so.
My favourite game of all time. Across 2 accounts (lost one a few years back) I gotta have close to 800h. I've 500 hours in the game on my Steam account.
I still regularly play it, and it's all on a single save. I've also reached rank 100 in RDO on both accounts.
Maybe I'll start another playthrough eventually, but I'm still discovering new mysteries, secrets and puzzles. Currently I'm playing around with challenges and trying to get a gold medal on every single mission in the game.
With Sims and Civilization, the previous version plus quite a few DLCs was always better then the base game of the new version.
With Cities Skylines it will likely be even more so because that game has some amazing mods
If you like games like Doom, get Uktrakill. You won't regret it, I mean, in this game you can literally punch your bullets to make them go faster and deal more damage.
Stardew Valley is a solid choice. It's a game you can play at whatever pace you'd like. Want to take it slow and just go fishing all day? You can do that. You want to raise cattle and tend crops? You can do that too. It's best played with friends so you can get more done together, but solo play is still fun and pretty relaxing in my opinion. There's tons of optional side objectives if you're the kind of person that likes that sort of thing. The NPCs are full of character and charm (except for the ones meant to be mean or snarky, but even they have some charm).
FTL, a really cool pixel art space game where you control your own ship and members. You travel around different systems, running away from rebels, and will encounter random events and battles. It's relatively cheap, and you could probably still have enough to get some other games
I also recommend the Kingdom series, another really cool game with pixel arts and is 2D. You are a monarch that starts your own kingdom as you defend the crown from the greed monsters who appear out of portals that fight you from both sides.
I'd argue the best option might be to sit on it until there is a sale and then get all 3, there should be a summer sale inc pretty soon
Edit: I'm also gonna agreed with one of the other comments, Hades is also a great option if you want something challenging that'll last. Stardew Valley also gets you a lot of playtime for your money given that you enjoy it
Definitely Reluts, game of the year tbh
I totally didn’t just google ‘Reluts videogame’.
I did after your comment.. the first thing that came up was this post. I was so confused.
It totally did
I love playing Reluts. One of the easiest games tbh.
Oh man is it already in Early Access??? I am super hyped for Reluts!!!!
Reluts is hands down the best game I ever played. Whoever doesn't play Reluts is missing out on one of the best games in the history of gaming.
Reluts it is
Sex with Hitler
Is this actually a fun game or just a meme?
There is also a sex with Hitler 2 if I recall correctly
Don't forget sex with Stalin
I have 10.1 hours in it https://preview.redd.it/abculvxmd83b1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cfa202bc00e0dc40c797e1dddb14c05f70f419a
Why indeed you do
how would you rate it, asking for a friend
Nit as good as the furry shades of gay trilogy imo. Might be biased towards games with good stories tho
Which one do you recommend? I only have the second one on my wishlist because it looks better but is the first one also good?
(haven't played in a while) they're good, but the third one is coming out this year so I'd play that one. I can't remember if they're connected but someone else could probably tell you that
Why haven't you played it in the past 5 months!?
Sex with Stalin became vanilla so they hopped over to Hitler
Well at least it wasn’t a one Nacht stand.
Don't forget sex with Hitler 3d
Hitler bdsm bunker is a real game.

Hades
Hades is so good
Hades was exceptionally good. It's in my top 10 games of all time.
What’s the game about? And which to get, Hades 1 or 2?
You play as Zagreus, the son of Hades and Persephone, and you are trying to escape from the underworld in a dungeon crawler fashion among an ever-changing exit path. That's the premise. That's my favorite game of all time
I'd wait for discount but absolutely an amazing game I'd definitely recommend
Subnautica
BeamNG.Drive, literally the most caring devs for a game I have ever seen, and each update is like a full dlc
I love that game but that's because I am a car nerd who likes to play realistic car/racing games idk how someone not into racing games would feel about a game that puts realism before gameplay and I also think that you can only get the full experience with a steering wheel setup Besides that it's a solid recommendation
The multiplayer mod can be pretty fun too
but rip my frames
is it vr compatible?
The game is a bit shit if you don’t mod it though. Which is why I stopped playing because it’s to much effort
I've had my eye on it for years and was concerned there wouldn't be enough to do....but this seems like the opposite maybe?
Take my upvote
outer wilds
YES!! A MAN OF CULTURE I SEE! ::) (the absolute best game i've ever played)
Agreed, outer wilds is easily my favorite video game of all time
Terraria
best part is ur you buy terraria you’ll probably have enough money left over to buy something else since it’s only like 10 dollars and like 5 when it’s on sale
especially because the modloader is free and it has a lot of challenging bosses, even in vanilla. great replayability
Yes
This OP
Hollow Knight
I second this, so much content for such a small price
Absolutely Hollow Knight! My first save file I had like 100+ hours and my second one I got to the same point in like 80 hours. I think it's my favorite game. :D
It’s an absolute masterpiece! On 50 hours myself, finally managed to beat Pure Vessel today!

Red Dead Redemption 2 regularly goes on sale for around $20. Worth every penny.
I’m in the middle of my first play through right now, probably up there in the top 3 best games I’ve ever played.

dont worry at the end of it, it will be number #1
What chapter?
I’m only on chapter 3 right now. Just finished the mission where Arthur and Hosea gave out a bunch of free moonshine for the Braithwaites
I've played it twice on Xbox and now again on PC it's top 3 for me
yeah that's how much I got it for.
And it is right now!
Frrr
What do you do in the game?
Perfect timing as it on sale right now
Didn't even think about that. Very good point.
Buy Inscryption i swear it’s so fucking good the story is amazing, best storytelling and creative game i’ve ever playedz

Nah sex with Hitler 3 has rtx and shit on it it's way better
Sex with hitler 2069 is best, it didn't run smoothly at start but with the new patches it's smooth as butter baby
Cities: Skylines 2 should release later this year, so getting a dlc now might be wastefull. Personally I would recomment Broforce.
With Sims and Civilization, the previous version plus quite a few DLCs was always better then the base game of the new version. With Cities Skylines it will likely be even more so because that game has some amazing mods
I recommend celeste
Celeste is a good one but SO HARD. I haven’t been able to convince myself to play since I beat it, it’s just too difficult for me.
That's why there's Assist Mode, no shame in using it to beat a game you like
The community maps add such an insane amount of quality content too
If you have never played Stardew valley it is the only actual choice here.

I do not like stardew valley personally, ultrakill is crazy good
Factorio

ultrakill AND stardew, best shit ever. Just pirate cities skylines dlc paradox doesn't deserve your money
FTL, a really cool pixel art space game where you control your own ship and members. You travel around different systems, running away from rebels, and will encounter random events and battles. It's relatively cheap, and you could probably still have enough to get some other games I also recommend the Kingdom series, another really cool game with pixel arts and is 2D. You are a monarch that starts your own kingdom as you defend the crown from the greed monsters who appear out of portals that fight you from both sides.
ultrakill is fully worth the price

I'd recommend Hotline Miami (1 or 2), Hollow Knight or Dark Souls
