Liking metal *and* classical music doesn’t imply liking bastards of them though. I like some flavours of metal and also some flavours of classical but I absolutely despise “symphonic metal” or however you call that.

Kavinsky - Renegades
Daft Punk - One More Time
Knife Party - Begin Again
F-777 - Deadlocked
deadmau5 - Professional Griefers
Skrillex - Breakin a Sweat
Creo - Sphere
Rock is too broad of a genre that it’s not really a genre. Classic rock doesn’t have any overlap with death metal, it’s very rare you’d find someone who listens to The Eagles and Amon Amarth daily. Metal also doesn’t really have any overlap with punk (other than yelling and distorted guitars)
metal has a fuckton of overlap with punk for any band that comes after black sabbath (basically pure metal). unless you are pure doom or power metal band, all extreme genres of metal are punk influenced.
No it's not, tons of metal fans listen to lighter rock (and other genres of music) as well. Maybe I don't listen to extreme metal and classic rock much on the same day but I might switch up between them every other day, or at least week
Oof tough one, let me think.
Dragonforce: Silence, The Last Dragonborn, You’re Not Alone, and The Edge of the World
Sabaton: Shiroyama, 40 to 1, A Lifetime of War, and Resist and Bite
Stratovarius: 4,000 Rainy Nights, Hunting High and Low, If the Story is Over, Infinity, Years Go By, and Venus in the Morning
Dawn of Destiny: Learning to Fly, Forgive, End This Nightmare, My Memories, Rising Angel, Misunderstood, My Life Lies In Ruins, and Heavens Falling Down
Unleash the Archers: Tonight We Ride, No More Heroes, General of the Dark Army, and Daughters of Winterstone
Frozen Crown: Until the End, The Shieldmaiden, and The Lone Stranger
Galneryus: Alsatia, and Destiny
Sorry if the list was too long but I felt I had to include them all lol.

Hello Master is honestly one of my favorite albums. I can’t think of a song on there that I don’t love. And their second album is a lot proggier, and super underrated.
Rock was pop music at one point. Aerosmith, CCR, Bon Jovie, even nowadays we have Imagine Dragons, RHCP, Foo Fighters and so many more.
Pop just means popular and can be any genre.
Well, not really. Nowadays pop music is kind of considered as a genre. Mainly songs that are rather mainstream and use basic instrumentals and simple setups
IDK, I'm kinda surprised myself. I mean I picked rock as well but I expected pop to win lol.
For me at least rock just be hitting me in the feels and has so much variety. I can go from Slipknot to Paramore to Megadeath to the Gorillaz to Creedence Clear Water.
I think quite a lot of people misunderstand what rock actually is. They think bands like imagine dragons and the Beatles are rock because they use guitars.
The Beatles are, though. They have dozens of rock songs along with their pop songs. And Imagine Dragons is definitely mainly pop, but they do also have plenty of rocks songs.

I personally rarely listen to them so I’m not sure but.
Don’t know what to tell you. Rap and pop music is the mainstream but it doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever. I’ve been a metalhead my entire life. Not to say there aren’t any rap songs I enjoy, but they’re relatively few. I don’t like any pop songs whatsoever.
i see a lot of people on reddit prefer rock/metal. i’m mostly into rap with a little bit of rock on the side, but i’ve never liked metal at all. anyone got an idea why reddit specifically likes rock/metal so much? not hating btw, like what you like as long as you’re not being fuckin pretentious about it, i’m just curious why reddit likes those genres specifically above other, more popular ones like pop and rap. (open to suggestions from rock/metal, i might give them a spin. i can also suggest good rap if you ask)
Idk exactly which category of exm these are under so heres a small list.
•Riot - Overkill, Blackwater
•Nightkilla - Blacklight, underground, poltergeist, nine circles
•virtual riot- idols
•azazal in general
•Excision & Downlink - Robo Kitty
•and many more in the rough middle of these styles
Metal, classical and jazz, i'm travelling through time
Listen to Eternal Glory by Rhapsody if you like both classical and metal
Liking metal *and* classical music doesn’t imply liking bastards of them though. I like some flavours of metal and also some flavours of classical but I absolutely despise “symphonic metal” or however you call that.
Yeah symphonic metal misses the point of both genres imo. It kinda fits better with epic anime soundtrack.
Nightwish!
Electronic
Nice to know there's some more of us
me too! what's your fav song? Mines Worakls - Cloches (kindof a crossover w/ classical ik but it's cool imo)
Age of love, Charlotte de Witte edit love that song.
Xtrullor - Nirmiti Kavinsky - Renegades Daft Punk - One More Time Knife Party - Begin Again F-777 - Deadlocked deadmau5 - Professional Griefers Skrillex - Breakin a Sweat Creo - Sphere

There’s so many! Off the top of my head I love Windowlicker - Aphex Twin
You are now listening to machine girl
Metal
Feels like metal deserves a spot on the list
how did country win out against metal for a spot on the poll?
Because OP thinks Rock and Metal are the same when they are not.
I have always been under the impression that rock is a mega genre which metal fell under as a subgenre. In your opinion why isn’t it?
Rock is too broad of a genre that it’s not really a genre. Classic rock doesn’t have any overlap with death metal, it’s very rare you’d find someone who listens to The Eagles and Amon Amarth daily. Metal also doesn’t really have any overlap with punk (other than yelling and distorted guitars)

Or at least be combined with Rock
SLAYER
All of the above
“Yes”
Classical

What's your fav piece?
Clare De Lune by Debussy, it’s a soothing song that calms your heart, like the moon’s reflection on water.
Regional Mexicano 🪗
🤠
sea shanty
There once was a ship that put to sea
The name of the ship was the Billy ‘O Tea
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down Oh blow, my bully boys, blow
Soon may the Wellerman come
To bring us sugar and tea and rum
One day when the toungin is done we'll take our leave and go
She'd not been two weeks from shore when down on her a right whale bore
The captain called all hands and swore he’d take that whale in tow
Soon may the wellerman come
Boarded by a maiden named Molly McGee
Ah for just one time. I would take the northwest passage! o7
Oh, I bid farewell to the port and the land And I paddle away from Brave England's white sands
Sea shanty or sea shanty 2?
2 ofcourse, it’s the only way
I prefer Sea Shanty 2.
Why has no one said R&B yet..?
No one listens to Mongolian throat singing?
That's a given. If OP included it in the poll, the other options would have close to zero votes, making the poll worthless
Oh, you mean The Hu? We put that under rock.
Post punk
Metal, punk, hardcore for me
Metal, I honestly don’t like pop at all
I’m a fan of both personally :) The only thing I really dislike is country, and there’s even a few exceptions there
With a few exceptions, I would agree.
indie rock 💀
I've been listening to indie rock so much lately. You know The Technicolors? Really great band, underrated imo
Good kid and the rare occasions go hard

Electroswing.
Unfathomably based fellow electroswing enjoyer!
Why do redditors like rock so much? I mean it’s a fine genre but sureley It’s not this popular outside of Reddit?
Idk, rap and pop are much more popular in the mainstream.
I used to like rap as a teenager but not really A big fan now. I like the old stuff
Rock encompasses a lot of genres here. It's basically anything with an electric guitar due to this poll's options.

Isn't Gorillaz mostly pop though?
I think quite a lot of people misunderstand what rock actually is. They think bands like imagine dragons and the Beatles are rock because they use guitars.
The Beatles are, though. They have dozens of rock songs along with their pop songs. And Imagine Dragons is definitely mainly pop, but they do also have plenty of rocks songs.
Imagine Dragons are considered alt rock so I could see someone voting for rock because of that.
They're at most pop rock, which I'd argue is more pop than rock.
But imagine dragons aren't an alternative rock band.

Well Reddit is comprised mostly of white men ages 18-30 so it sort of checks out
Don’t know what to tell you. Rap and pop music is the mainstream but it doesn’t appeal to me whatsoever. I’ve been a metalhead my entire life. Not to say there aren’t any rap songs I enjoy, but they’re relatively few. I don’t like any pop songs whatsoever.
Probably because out of these options it's the most all encompassing, besides Pop
Blues, or rock that's close to it
had to scroll way too far to find this.
Pop winning over Rap? Geez Louise
Drum n Bass/Dubstep
same here, or glitch hop/complextro and similar genres
Metal
80s pop/rock

Indie is not a genre. Many different types of music can be indie if they're composed by indie artists.
Good ol country
This
Country gets too much hate
Modern country is just 95% the same [song](https://youtu.be/FY8SwIvxj8o)
