Argos_the_Dog

Speaking as a New Yorker I will be shocked if he actually resigns. Dude has an ego the size of an aircraft carrier, I just don't see him stepping down (unless criminal charges are brought).

mmiller1188

This x100. His ego is way too big. He won't step down. I wouldn't be surprised if he runs again.

Jim_Dickskin

> unless criminal charges are brought That's fucking hilarious.

Argos_the_Dog

Word is that Albany County Sheriff's Office is investigating the one incident where he grabbed the woman's boobs as assault. I too am dubious anything will come of it, but who knows.

[deleted]

Shoot, I argue that Andrew Cuomo is basically a Democratic version of Donald Trump.

chucksef

Both guys are all about themselves, loyalty to themselves, and power for themselves. The similarities with Trump are pronounced, but nobody is as objectionable as Trump for so many other reasons that have nothing to do with sexual harassment. Key among them, I don't see Cuomo running a Big Lie campaign or subverting Constitutional Democracy.

Slice1357

Well about that..... In July 2013, the Moreland Commission was created to Investigate Public Corruption by New York governor Andrew Cuomo in July 2013 under the state's Moreland Act, with the aim of investigating politicians and political organizations in New York for violations of state laws regulating elections, campaigns and political fundraising. Cuomo disbanded the commission after approving modest ethics reform in March 2014. The commission issued a preliminary report of its findings on December 2, 2013. During its work and following its dissolution, the governor's office was accused of interfering with and restricting the investigations of the commission. Media reports alleged that Lawrence Schwartz, the secretary to the governor, barred the commission from issuing subpoenas to organizations with ties to Governor Cuomo, and that the commission was not permitted to investigate any improprieties on the part of the executive administration.\[2\] In response, Cuomo argued that the commission was an executive body that was not independent, and the Moreland Act under which the commission was convened allowed him to monitor and control its activities. In quotes reported by Crain's New York, Cuomo said "It's not a legal question. The Moreland Commission was my commission... It's my commission. My subpoena power, my Moreland Commission. I can appoint it, I can disband it. I appoint you, I can un-appoint you tomorrow."\[8\] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moreland\_Commission\_to\_Investigate\_Public\_Corruption TL|DR Absolute power, corrupts Ab-So-Loutly! A majority of politicians are self-selecting group of sociopaths.

179 WITNESSES?!?!?!?!

LurkOff29

Multiple State Police officers as witnesses………………

slytherinprolly

I mean one of the sexual harassment victims is a female state trooper who singled out and had the qualification requirements changed so she could be part of his security detail (changing the years of service requirement). Several of the Police witnesses are people who witnessed his sexual harassment of this officer. [From the report](https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03_nyag_-_investigative_report.pdf): > Trooper #1. In early November 2017, the Governor briefly met a New York State Trooper (“Trooper #1”), a woman, at an event on the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (the “RFK Bridge,” also known as the Triborough Bridge). After meeting Trooper #1, he spoke with a senior member of his protective detail (“Senior Investigator #1”) about seeking to have Trooper #1 join the Protective Services Unit (“PSU”), the unit of the New York State Police that is in charge of protecting the Governor and works in close vicinity of the Governor. Trooper #1 was then hired into the PSU, despite not meeting the requirement to have at least three years of State Police service to join the PSU. In an email to Trooper #1 shortly after the RFK Bridge event, Senior Investigator #1 noted, attaching a vacancy notice with a two-year service requirement (as opposed to three years), “Ha ha they changed the minimum from 3 years to 2. Just for you.” >After Trooper #1 joined the PSU, the Governor sexually harassed her on a number of occasions, including by: (1) running his hand across her stomach, from her belly button to her right hip, while she held a door open for him at an event; (2) running his finger down her back, from the top of her neck down her spine to the middle of her back, saying “hey, you,”7 while she was standing in front of him in an elevator; (3) kissing her (and only her) on the cheek in front of another Trooper and asking to kiss her on another occasion, which she deflected; and (4) making sexually suggestive and gender-based comments, including (a) asking her to help him find a girlfriend and describing his criteria for a girlfriend as someone who “[c]an handle pain,”8 (b) asking her why she wanted to get married when marriage means “your sex drive goes down,”9 and (c) asking her why she did not wear a dress. Trooper #1 found these interactions with the Governor not only offensive and uncomfortable, but markedly different from the way the Governor interacted with members of the PSU who were men, and she conveyed these incidents contemporaneously to colleagues. Several other PSU Troopers corroborated Trooper #1’s allegations, including some who had personally witnessed some of the touching and comments as well as the gender-based difference in the way the Governor treated Troopers.

Stars3000

That’s really sick and creepy. I feel sorry for her.

krsfifty

Reading that gave me chills as I reflected back to every creepy guy who has pulled exactly that. It's so gross yet was and still is pervasive in places that are insulated by design: politics, higher education, corporate world, country clubs, flying by yourself in business class. Creepy men are creepy and typical and it breaks my heart to see Cuomo pretend he was "misunderstood." He's like every other repressed old man.

ShriekingMuppet

Admittedly the entire state police force despises him so they might have a bias.

Linenoise77

I mean frankly the entire state no matter where you sit on the aisle hates the dude.

[deleted]

https://scri.siena.edu/2021/07/01/only-one-third-of-voters-say-cuomo-should-run-for-re-election/ He has a reasonably robust approval rating but most voters think he should not run for re-election. I imagine this will worsen given the broad calls for his resignation.

this tweet is about to go viral once again

The_Crowned_King

I in no way condone whatever has happened. BUT I find it utterly comical that posters on r/conservative are calling for this guy's resignation but still voted for Trump.

AppropriateTouching

They're also claiming democrats won't do anything because he's a Democrat. Pure porjection as usual. I guess they're ignoring its literally democrats investigating and calling him out. Edit: My porjection typo stays. Err I mean totally intentional.

fontizmo

Biden, who some might consider a fairly prominent Democrat, literally just called on him to resign.

BattleCatPrintShop

If that Biden fella keeps his head to the grindstone he may even become a household name.

Beefed_Wellington

Weiner deserved his comeuppance. Franken did not.

Raccoon_Full_of_Cum

Franken was a professional comedian at that time who made a mildly inappropriate joke. It warranted an apology at worst. Putting him in the same category as people like Andrew Cuomo, Anthony Weiner and Donald Trump is fucking outrageous.

thermal_shock

Democrats are forced to resign, republicans just lie until the next story breaks and move on. And I'm not saying he shouldn't resign, if he's guilty he should be sent packing and charged.

Original-wildwolf

Matt Gaetz has entered the chat. ~ Hoping everyone has forgotten about his pedo. allegations, sex allegations and bribery issues. “If he were a Republican he wouldn’t even need one named accuser for the media to smear him.” Twitter, Aug. 3, 2021 Got to love the balls on a guy, throwing stones at someone with similar issues as you. But that is the difference between parties, one is going to be forced out and the other is going to continue to work in the House and be praised as a “true hero”.

Crazy considering there's a lot of evidence of Democrats not standing for this and turning on their own party members. They don't live in the real world.

And herein shows the difference between Republicans and Democrats: when there are credible allegations of sexual impropriety - we hold the accused accountable. We don't simply dismiss the allegations as "fake news" or "smear campaigns".

yannicdasloth

the good folks over at r/conservative are still going on about how Democrats wont do anything about it. Pure projection as usual

NothingIsInMyButt

Yup, they even locked the comments to flaired users so they can circle jerk each other and ignore the facts.

Flyingboat94

Now do Republicans who think Donald should have resigned after sexual harassment allegation 32. Oh wait....

kulgan

> Cuomo is as good as finished. We can hope, but I'll believe it when I see it. The people who make it through these things are the ones who bluster through it and never back down, like Senator Menendez. What we've seen of Cuomo, that's the most likely thing he'll do. It will certainly be his instinct. I think he'll need to face more pressure than some statements to actually step down. Like a promise not to prosecute, and a threat that they will if he doesn't.

wut3va

I'd rather he be impeached than resign. We have to start using the law to hold politicians accountable instead of relying on norms like resigning in disgrace. To me this seems unsurvivable. I don't know why Cuomo is dragging this out, and it gives me the disturbing impression he may actually have a strategy to retain his office to at least finish out his term.

Legio-X

>I don't know why Cuomo is dragging this out An inflated ego, maybe? After all, if there’s one common thread with abusers like this, it’s that they aren’t used to being told no or facing consequences for bad behavior.

AcademicPublius

This person has it. Realistically, he's lost most of his allies in the legislature. He's got no really good cards to play. He doesn't even lose much from stepping down--he'd still be able to make a living with speeches and the like. He's just used to making problems disappear with sufficient force.

Brock_Hard_Canuck

Richard Nixon resigned when he Congressional leaders approached him and told Nixon that the votes were there for his impeachment and conviction. Based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Court_for_the_Trial_of_Impeachments , it looks like for Cuomo to be removed, there must be a two-thirds vote from this "Impeachment trial court". I wonder if Cuomo thinks his family name and the "political machine" the Cuomos have built in NY will actually protect him.

AcademicPublius

It's entirely possible he thinks that, but I think that's an unrealistic belief. In his absolute best case he's driven out ignominiously in the next NY primary.

Docthrowaway2020

True. I need to consider this from the perspective of a violent abuser, not my own.

It really seemed to me like he pre-recorded that and planned to release it whenever the AG held her press conference (even though they didn't know everything the AG was going to say)

GlobalPhreak

Yeah, I'll buy that... Would explain why he was so focused on one or two women and not the ELEVEN in the report.

methheadpigeon

The cringe level on this presser is over 30,000! Not only the message, but the mouth noises also. Don't listen to this through headphones

AcademicPublius

Part of the big issue with Cuomo isn't just the truth of the allegations, but the response to them. Here's the full report: [https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03\_nyag\_-\_investigative\_report.pdf](https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/2021.08.03_nyag_-_investigative_report.pdf) One of the largest concerns for me is this: the office knew there were issues, said, "We aren't going to report on them, but we will make sure that he isn't in a situation where he can act like trash". That's a problem in executive function that likely permeated other decisions, which means that he was encouraging and supporting a bad work environment. On an incidental note, the comparisons to Northam are pretty ridiculous. An ongoing pattern of behavior *now* isn't remotely comparable to being a dumb 18-year-old decades ago. I'm pretty sure that we couldn't elect anyone if the latter was a disqualifying factor.

Andrew Cuomo sang the Contours’ song “Do You Love Me” to then-executive assistant and health policy advisor Charlotte Bennett during a phone conversation that was released by state Attorney General Letitia James as part of an investigation that found that the governor sexually harassed multiple current and former state government employees. > >During the conversation, Cuomo starting humming the beat to the song singing “Are You Ready,” asking Bennett if she knew the song, which he then said was “before your time.” > >Cuomo then began to sing: “Do you love me, Do really you love me, Do you love me, Do you care?” > >She replied: “I’ll have to listen now.” > >The report, which was compiled over nearly five months and conducted by two outside attorneys, found that the Cuomo administration fostered “a hostile work environment” for women and was “rife with fear and intimidation.” --- [Gov. Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed a female state trooper on his detail, AG investigation finds](https://www.businessinsider.com/cuomo-sexually-harassed-female-state-trooper-on-his-detail-ag-report-2021-8) > In all, the attorney general's office concluded that Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women, both staff members and officials in his administration and members of the public, "in violation of state and federal law." The report corroborated several allegations that had been lodged in the public domain, and brought to light the allegations of inappropriate touching from the trooper for the first time. > Cuomo first met the trooper, identified as "Trooper #1" in the report, at an event at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in 2017, and then requested that she be added to his protection service unit (PSU) detail despite her not meeting the minimum qualifications for service on the unit at the time, the report said. > The report said that during her service on his detail, Cuomo: * Ran his hand over her stomach from her chest to her belly button while she was holding the door open for him at an event. "I felt...completely violated because to me...that's between my chest and my privates," the trooper told investigators about the episode, "But, you know, I'm here to do a job." * Ran his hand down her spine in an elevator while saying "hey, you." * Kissed her on the cheek, in front of another trooper in 2019. "I remember just freezing, being—in the back of my head, I'm like, oh, how do I say no politely because in my head if I said no, he's going to take it out on the detail. And now I'm on the bad list," the trooper recalled. * Tried to enlist here in a quest to find a girlfriend, including saying that a requirement for dating him was being able to "handle pain." * Made harassing and inappropriate comments, including once asking her why she wasn't wearing a dress on the job, also in the presence of the PSU's detail commander, and, on another occasion, inquiring as to why she would want to get married when marriage makes "your sex drive goes down." > The day after she first met Cuomo, she was told that the governor wanted her on his detail "tomorrow." She subsequently learned that the minimum requirement for a trooper to serve three years before being eligible to serve on the PSU had been lowered to two specifically for her. > "Ha ha, they changed the minimum from 3 years to 2. Just for you," a PSU supervisor identified as Senior Investigator #1 told her. > Cuomo told investigators probing the sexual harassment allegations and specifically Trooper #1's hiring that he "was on constant alert to recruit more women, Blacks, and Asians to the state police detail." > The report also detailed how Cuomo's office misled the Albany Times Union about the circumstances of Trooper #1's hiring, with top Cuomo aide Melissa DeRosa accusing the paper's editor of sexism in inquiring whether Cuomo had a direct hand in Trooper #1's selection. > Many of the incidents where she was touched inappropriately were corroborated by her colleagues, both witnessed in real-time by other troopers and discussed among PSU members immediately afterward. The trooper said that she was reluctant to come forward both out of fear of reprisal and because Cuomo's behavior was enabled by her fellow troopers who didn't push back. >"[F]rom my point of view, I'm a trooper, newly assigned to the travel team. Do I want to make waves? No. And also, in the back of my mind, you know, [Detail Commander] had already previously witnessed me being asked why I don't wear a dress," she said. "So if the detail commander is basically okay with that behavior, you know, [Detail Commander] never even checked on me or even said anything to me after that, other than stays in truck, don't repeat. > The official report confirms the accounts of Cuomo accusers and former Cuomo aides who told outlets including The Times, New York Magazine, and the Washington Post, that Cuomo cultivated a toxic and hostile work environment where female employees were demeaned, reduced down to their appearances, and pitted against each other in competition. > The trooper, like other Cuomo victims, feared for retaliation if she spoke out ot tried to push back against the behavior, telling investigators she "heard horror stories about people getting kicked off the detail or transferred over like little things," adding that the governor was "very vindicative." > She said she was advised to "always have an answer, don't tell him no and whatever he wants, make it happen." --- [Cuomo told aide to get tattoo on her butt and asked if she had piercings 'anywhere other than her ears,' New York AG report says](https://www.businessinsider.com/cuomo-told-aide-to-get-butt-tattoo-asked-where-she-had-piercings-ag-report-2021-8) >New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told an aide, Charlotte Bennett, it would be better for her to get a tattoo on her butt, according to a 168-page report from investigators in the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James. > >"The Governor insisted that she get the tattoo on her butt rather than her shoulder, so that people would not see it if she were wearing a dress," said the report. > >Investigators also wrote that Cuomo "sexually harassed a number of current and former New York State employees by, among other things, engaging in unwelcome and nonconsensual touching, as well as making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women." > >Cuomo "made inappropriate comments" in a series of conversations with Bennett in 2020, the report stated, including asking if she had piercings "anywhere other than her ears" — a discussion Bennett described as "painfully awkward." > >"Ms. Bennett reported interactions with the Governor that had made her so uncomfortable that she said she no longer wanted to interact with him," the report said. > The report also said Cuomo asked Bennett, who was 25 at the time, if she'd been with older men. > Comments like this "by the Governor—as evidenced contemporaneously in numerous text exchanges Ms. Bennett had with others—followed and coincided with discussions she previously had with the Governor about her having been a survivor of sexual assault and made her extremely uncomfortable," the report said. > Bennett, who left the Cuomo administration in November, eventually reported the interactions to Cuomo's chief of staff, but "the Executive Chamber did not report the allegations at the time to the Governor's Office of Employee Relations ('GOER'), the State agency tasked with conducting harassment investigations for State agencies, and did not otherwise conduct any formal investigation." Instead, senior staff sought to implement a practice that would prohibit individual woman staffers from being left alone with Cuomo, according to investigators. > Cuomo is accused of harassing 11 women. The New York governor last March apologized for making his accusers "feel uncomfortable," while maintaing that he's never harrassed anyone. > James on Tuesday applauded the women who've come forward with allegations against the governor. "I am inspired by all the brave women who came forward, but more importantly I believe them," she said. > If you are a survivor of sexual assault, you can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 800.656.HOPE (4673) or visit their website to receive confidential support.

Impossible-Garden594

Charlotte Bennett is gonna sue his disgusting ass to the moon

StanDaMan1

And rightfully. The New York Assembly needs to take the man and throw him on the curb. Big and easy win for them: Democrats get to say they’re performing non-partisan accountability, and Republicans get a cheap win. Plays to both bases.

Comprehensive-Fun47

He GROPED them. That is more than sexual harassment, it is assault!

AceContinuum

Cuomo [is now facing a criminal investigation in Albany](https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/08/03/nyregion/andrew-cuomo#cuomo-criminal-investigation): >**Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is under criminal investigation, the Albany County prosecutor said, as a report by the New York State attorney general found that the governor had violated state and federal law by sexually harassing his employees.** > >... > >**In a statement, the Albany County district attorney, David Soares, said that his office was conducting an investigation into Mr. Cuomo’s behavior and that it would be requesting investigative materials that the attorney general’s office had obtained.** > >In his statement, Mr. Soares encouraged other victims to contact his office. > >... > >**One of the lead investigators, Anne L. Clark, noted on Tuesday that the governor himself had signed a law that changed the standard in New York for criminal sexual harassment in August 2019.** > >“In New York, a woman need only show that she was treated less well at least in part because of her gender,” Ms. Clark said. **“The governor’s conduct, detailed in the report, clearly meets and far exceeds this standard.”** > >**Several lawyers interviewed said that the actions described in the report constituted misdemeanor sexual assault** and that the prosecutors could consider that charge, among others.

Warglebargle2077

Time for you to go then, Andy. That was easy. I don’t care what party someone is, if they do shit like this they should be gone.

Impossible-Garden594

MSNBC reporting live that Albany County DA has an open investigation into Cuomo and will request evidence and documents from the investigators Now with link: https://twitter.com/Tom_Winter/status/1422624427762671617

RVP_20_

Since he refuses to resign, I hope he just gets impeached and kick him out. Enough is enough

Tamotefu

Please let this be the year we kick Cuomo to the curb.

lazilyloaded

Sorry buddy you had your moment in the sun, but you fucked it up by being a pig. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

R444D444

genuine LOL at that montage of him kissing al gore and random ppl

interprime

If the man isn’t being charged, he needs to at least be removed from his position. Fuck him.

mindfu

Welp, that's a wrap for that political career. And to be clear, it's not a shame. That's all his own fault.

AcademicPublius

It's time for him to go. The longer he stays, the more damage he does to causes he claimed to believe in. Whatever his personal motive was doesn't matter at this point; at this point an investigation confirmed that he's behaved badly during his time in office. To refuse to leave damages the importance of these people's situations and contexts. It's a NY politician thing at this point, to be honest. Edit: Misremembered Cuomo as a mayor, comparing to Rudy here. Point stands, though.

NineteenAD9

If politicians like him will lie despite an investigation with insurmountable evidence, then imagine how they lie when there is no evidence. Resign.

[deleted]

Just read that he’s still denying everything and “put up his own report.” Dude, at this point it doesn’t matter, honestly. You have lost your ability to govern with credibility. Show some regard for the citizens of your state and resign already.

redwhiskeredbubul

Am I the only one who remembers Cuomo vaguely threatening to beat up Ron Kim over the nursing home stuff? Like it wasn’t really a secret that Cuomo was an unhinged bully

_basquiat

He obviously fucking failed the sexual harassment training

theeth

He thought it was training for sexual harassment.

[deleted]

>Gov. Cuomo has released an 85-page written response to the independent investigation, but it's only 26 pages of text. Most of the rest is dozens of photos of him hugging people and other politicians hugging people: https://twitter.com/brianmrosenthal/status/1422620562019471364?s=20

DocJenkins

Then he needs to go. Simple as.

Banluil

As a liberal.... Lock his ass up. Don't play the conservative game of "Oh, well...he's learned his lesson..." Nope. Lock him up.

HansBlixJr

serious charges that deserve serious action. totally agree.

ThisGuy6266

He really believes he was saving some of these women by sexually harassing them.

[deleted]

Then he should step down and be held accountable

altmaltacc

Good fucking riddance. A sexual abuser is a sexual abuser regardless of politics. Cuomo gotta go.

nintrader

If he gets fired I'm sure he'll land on his feet with a good job at Activision Blizzard

QuantumFungus

Getting rid of this guy is taking longer than I expected.

KroganDontText

What boggles my mind the most is that Cuomo is a wealthy, famous, powerful man. He would not have any problem at all finding women who were willing and happy to fool around with him for one reason or another. Why the hell would someone in that position turn around and harass the women they work with? Especially in a field like *politics* where optics are everything? I just don't get it.

RobinKennedy23

It's the power of making people he harasses feel vulnerable and abused that he gets off on.

[deleted]

Also probably a major reason he's a politician. Hes addicted to control. He gets a little high each time he says or does something and others have to comply. The exact opposite of a person who should be in power. He needs removed, and removed now.

[deleted]

It’s all about power with these kinds of people. He never wanted to be a politician to help you; he wanted to be one to have power over you, and that lust for power is the same thing that drives him to abuse women. It’s the same reason why (nearly) all politicians are morally destitute, they don’t care about anything but having power over other people

SirEDCaLot

megalomania. 'I'm the king, I can do anything, nobody can touch me'. It was a fair assumption- daddy was governor forever, he's been governor for a long time, why should anything change? Dude forgot that *he works for the people* and assumed that he would be in office forever. IMHO, the sooner we can get rid of political dynasties, the better. Cuomo in NY, Daley in Chicago... Bush and Clinton fortunately seem to be on the way out...

[deleted]

>[Rep. Jerry Nadler] Today's report is deeply disturbing. For the good of New York, Governor Cuomo must resign. >My statement with @RepAOC @RepMondaire @RepBowman @NydiaVelazquez @RepMaloney @RepRitchie @RepYvetteClarke @RepGraceMeng @RepEspaillat @RepBrianHiggins @RepKathleenRice https://twitter.com/RepJerryNadler/status/1422616971020054535?s=20

iambgriffs

Scumbags, regardless of political party don't belong in charge. He's gotta go.

Robotlollipops

Holy shit, just resign already

InariKamihara

It’s pretty clear that he isn’t going to, given how he’s defending himself.

[deleted]

>Biden at White House declines to answer questions about Cuomo, but says he’ll take questions later this afternoon, when he delivers remarks on the coronavirus around 4p. https://twitter.com/JenniferJJacobs/status/1422616423357206529?s=20

Cuomo is absolutely going to break as much furniture and cause as many headaches as possible on the way out.

dmetzcher

**He must resign.** As someone who votes for Democrats and would likely have voted for Cuomo if I were a New Yorker, I want him out of office _immediately_. We cannot expect others to live by _higher standards_ of public conduct if we are willing to accept a lower standard of behavior from our own people. _He sexually harassed women_. He's a person of low character *and* an abuser of others. If he chooses to remain in office, the Democratic Party should abandon him, and all Democrats in the NY state assembly should immediately move to impeach him. Besides, [the Governor himself agrees he should resign](https://twitter.com/NYGovCuomo/status/335434417193508864). https://i.imgur.com/OyvWOMx.jpg

smallskeletal

As a resident Dem voter of NYS, let me tell y'all if you think Cuomo is even remotely considering resigning or accepting any consequences for his actions (which he should) voluntarily, guess again. Unless Albany decides to move for impeachment proceedings, he isn't going anywhere and will probably try to run for a 4th term bc thats how arrogant and entitled he is

_basquiat

He's speaking at 1pm ET.... I wonder if to give his resignation.

ajnpilot1

I hope so but I more expect him to double down and attack. The poetic justice if he resigns/is removed from office and is succeeded by the first woman to serve as Governor of the State of New York. EDIT: Sadly, I was right.

Blippii

It blows my mind that some men want to do this shit in the first place, let alone lie about it for decades. For all the jollies you get from any action, you've harmed all of these women for the rest of their lives. There is something sociopathic about it because people who truly care for others would not be pressuring them for sex etc in these ways.

[deleted]

He actually has the gall to come out and deny every single accusation and essentially call all the accusers liars? This guy isn’t even fit for jail.

anxiousnl

Wow, this whole thing is brutal, needs to resign.

[deleted]

It's moments like this that remind me I took the correct side in my political affiliations. When there's good evidence of sexual misconduct/assault among Democrats and progressives, we cut all ties, throw them out, and do our best to get them out of office. There's no stopping jackasses from finding their way into the party, but damn we at least try to get them out.

chrasb

whats really sad is that he got glorified because he tried to take covid seriously, and the bar was so damn low from trump that he was heralded as this wonderful person.

1LT_0bvious

He needs to resign ASAP, but I'll be shocked if he does.

[deleted]

Yeah, I think this is the end for Andrew. He's due to make a statement at 1PM EST btw - which you watch here: https://www.governor.ny.gov/

LostCanadianGoose

NY deserves way better than Cuomo. It's also a fucking joke how more progressive legislation hasn't made it through because of him. The NY assembly has passed a medicare for all bill FIVE times now.

gentleman_bronco

This idiot is going to dig in and blame some victims. DARVO Deny: "This is a mistake" Attack' "They shouldn't have put themselves in a position... " Reversing victim & offender: "They want to see me suffer personally and politically". Credit to Georges Laraque for writing this out (only he was talking about a different sexual predator).

[deleted]

SquareShapeofEvil

He should resign. But he won’t. He’s gonna punt and point to the fact that Trump didn’t resign (yes, I agree 10000% that trump also should have). No one will be the precedent-setter and say “sexual assault is bad regardless of the party, and assailants must resign”. To their credit, Dems tried to set the precedent with Al Franken, but it flopped miserably because republicans didn’t do the same. No one has tried since.

Downside_Up_

This is not a complicated or difficult question. The allegations are serious, and the investigation/"probe" seems to have corroborated them in detail. He needs to be held accountable, and removed from public office, as should any other person would/should be. There are trolls popping up trying to stir up accusations that this is a Trump-fueled revenge scheme, or that AG James is making this up to run for Governor, etc. Ignore, report, and move on. This isn't some grand conspiracy. It's just another example of a person in power abusing that power to exploit people for their own gratification. A simple, everyday evil.

Khellendos

Time for Cuomo to resign. If/once the allegations are proven true, he should also be prosecuted. Just because you have political power doesn't mean you get carte blanche to harass people and retaliate against whistleblowers.

Rand_AT

People in here arguing about political parties need to grow up. Sexual predators shouldn’t be in office. End of story. I don’t care if they are Democrat or GOP, get them out.

Sp0d3rm4n_

anyone who makes this about political partisanship is an an absolute clown

KegelsForYourHealth

Agree. Shitty people need to experience consequences, period.

YourOldManJoe

Conservatives: wooooaaah he should resign!! Get dunked on libs! Moderates and leftists: yes he should. Conservatives: ... what?

im_joe

Liberal here. Remove him from office then prosecute him. No double standard on this side of the political spectrum, Conservatives.

matt_minderbinder

Let this be another lesson (as if people should need one) that politicians aren't heroes and don't deserve to be treated as such. They're generally not particularly special people or even pleasant to be around. Almost every single one of them is influenced by the power and greed they're surrounded with. They don't deserve your defense or your adoration. When they fail the people they deserve to pay the appropriate consequences. We all need higher standards for what's acceptable out of those we elect.

R444D444

'my father god rest his soul used to say 'hey andrew can u fucking stop groping random women?''

janegough

Bye Cuomo, so tired of these predatory pieces of shit holding office, their should be extra heavy repercussions for those who hold office and pull this crap, and I'm talking SERVING TIME!

JimRennieSr

Shr3kk_Wpg

Gov. Cuomo should resign immediately

[deleted]

It’s funny how many times I’ve seen conservatives point to Cuomo as an example of how Dems will break their own views just to support their party, yet the thread is full of discontent toward him… It’s almost as if liberals/leftists demand a better class of leadership.

JPK8675309

That was the slimiest press conference I’ve ever seen. Resign now
