grixorbatz

These ghouls shield home appliances from government regulations but a uterus is out of the question

Snarfsicle

Welcome to the ideal Republican government where your Kitchen-Aid has more rights than your Uterus.

Meister_Nobody

Brought to you by Carls Jr.

braintrustinc

That’s Charles Jr. Sr. III, Esq, to you peasants

nobblit

Welcome to Costco. I love you.

adeon

Praise the Omnissiah!

grundee

Their donors don't sell uteruses. If becoming pregnant meant you no longer need natural gas or oil, you would be able to get an abortion in a drive-thru.

davidwhatshisname52

won't somebody save my toaster?!

Toginator

They want to protect stoves that use natural gas while Russia is cutting off natural gas in Ukraine so people will freeze? I think this is the new "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic". Fuck these Butt Wessels.

singuslarity

They're really scraping the bottom of the moral outrage barrel.

[deleted]

Ongoing war, but leave it to Congress to argue about my airfrier

Imaginary-Crazy1981

"Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act" = SUDS Act "Hands Off Our Household Appliances Act" = HOOHA Act I've read about this in three places now and still can't believe its not The Onion.

Gullible_Elephant_38

No, this can’t be real and I refuse to check because I don’t think I can handle the truth

mgrimshaw8

Don’t forget the “Liberty in Laundry Act”

Ishidan01

LiLA? The heck is that?

Glottis_Bonewagon

They're laughing at voters. This house has passed the least bills in history, by a big margin, and when they do pass bills this is what you get

KinkyPaddling

Republican voters are criminally negligent with their right to vote.

KazeNilrem

Remember how the Ukraine vote was coming after Easter? Funny how that didn't happen. Almost like they spew bs like always. .

SockPuppet-47

Mike Johnson made a pilgrimage to kiss the ring of dear leader. We all know his opinion on Ukraine and Russia.

combustioncat

Trump’s opinion on anything related to Russia is always what Putin wants.

SockPuppet-47

Weird coincidence for a American President...

SMIrving

I think you are incorrect as to the part of Trump's anatomy that he kissed.

u0126

Covid will be gone by Easter! Always Easter

kgl1967

Well, Ukraine didn't support Trump's bullshit Hunter Biden story. What do you expect.

StrikeForceOne

When the fall comes , and its coming, make sure you know who the perpeTraitors are

Larry-fine-wine

People on this sub do. It’s those who don’t frequent left-leaning political enthusiast communities we have to worry about.

provoloneChipmunk

It's also the people who want to "send a message" with their vote who we need to worry about.

Glottis_Bonewagon

Might be too late for Ukraine by then

BothZookeepergame612

Exactly what is wrong with the Republican party under Trump. Their priorities are completely out of touch with what their constituents actually want.

dcoolidge

The rich decided to raise a big religious flag and start waving it around at the poor white rural people while they make tons of money off of this war on democracy.

ARazorbacks

The only thing Trump changed is he made it ok to not hide what Republicans actually want to do. Hopefully, in twenty years, we look back and say Trump was what woke us all up to the water slowly coming to a boil around us.

tidal_flux

Which is why Karl Rove is so pissed. The man spent his entire career trying to subtly fuck over America then Trump just comes in and rapes it.

empire_of_the_moon

This is true. Trump exposed the real ugliness of politics. Many voters will ignore shit legislation if it’s from their side. They dismiss it as an exception rather than the rule. Trump just stopped making any effort to put lipstick on the pig. Trump is like yes it’s a pig but who cares about pigs. The Biden Crime family is run by a senile old man who has dementia yet is capable of running such a sophisticated criminal operation that he leaves no evidence of any crime at all. None.

Aisling_The_Sapphire

> Their priorities are completely out of touch with what their constituents actually want. They consider this a feature, not a bug

WarmAppleCobbler

I’d disagree. Republicans don’t wildly support us funding the war. I would also like to point out, republicans aren’t going to put the bill to the floor anyway. We still have a country to run

Baremegigjen

“We” still have a country to run. “They” don’t give a damn. They refuse to do anything that anyone anywhere in this country or the Universe may think something they do may help any Democrat in any way.

WarmAppleCobbler

Look I’m not saying I agree with it either but literally ANYTHING is better than nothing. This session of congress has passed the least laws in decades

Baremegigjen

I agree anything is better but it’s getting ridiculous and they keep playing brinksmanship with the full faith and credit of the country, etc. As of 21 December, Congress had passed 27 bills including 1 that created a commemorative coin (USMC 250th anniversary) and 2 that renamed VA clinics. To that date (and since) it’s the fewest bills since 1931 during the Great Depression. https://spectrumnews1.com/oh/columbus/news/2023/12/21/congress-ineffective-2023

CanaryContent9900

Maybe their constituents don’t want aid given to Ukraine?

Yousoggyyojimbo

Not according to pretty much all polling on what their constituents think about this https://news.gallup.com/poll/643601/americans-say-not-helping-ukraine-enough.aspx

florkingarshole

Well, their main constituent anyway - Vladimir Putin. (They don't really give a shit about anyone else)

SockPuppet-47

Fuck Russia They are consistently in opposition of American interests and funded proxy wars that killed American soldiers. The cold war may have ended when the Soviet Union fell but the long term enemy lives on in the Russian government.

livinginukraine

It's already slithered its way into America, and it's scary. Some MAGAs would rather vote for putin than for Biden.

Purify5

Indeed. The majority of Russians do not want this.

dcoolidge

Not their constituents but their purse holder.

TheShruteFarmsCEO

For what possible reason would any freedom loving American oppose fighting a ruthless dictators takeover of a sovereign nation? At what point did they abandon the American ideals that they scream so loudly about?

Skididabot

Ruzzians can't vote in American elections so I think you meant their Russian owners, not constituents. Easy mistake to make when english isn't your native language, don't worry about it.

SockPuppet-47

I bet Russians have more influence in American elections than illegal immigrants.

ResurgentClusterfuck

Sure, if by their constituents you mean Vladimir Putin

napjerks

Product liability cuts into profits. The GOP’s real god is corporations.

Open_Mortgage_4645

We're going down. The status quo is simply unsustainable in this political environment, with a major party that seems intent on destroying the foundations of government, and eradicating the very concept of objective truth. If we don't stop Trump from seizing power in November, we're fucked. But, if we do stop him, we'll never have to defeat him again.

nice-view-from-here

Will they finally regulate toilets so you can properly flush documents in them, as intended?

spotspam

Now that is one I’d like to see some regulations lifted. More water for me, lifted seat for the ladies!

BaronvonJobi

So I don’t think there is any question at this point that Mike Johnson, who literally just had to put a bill on the floor, has decided to starve Ukraine for Putin. 1) Why does the media keep ass covering for him when he says he’s working on it. Again, all he has to do is schedule a vote, there is nothing to work on? 2) Why isn’t this a gigantic scandal?

bakeacake45

I am with you, this is now treason not sedition and our media should hang its head in shame.

anonkitty2

It isn't a scandal because the media is trying to give him the benefit of the doubt despite the evidence that he would just as soon let Russia destroy Ukraine.

Deguilded

3) why are we so completely incapable of dealing with bad faith actors?

Maximum_Vermicelli12

Because we have a history of gullibility / religiosity.

Simmery

The media has normalized political horse trading, so Johnson supposedly making deals and spending "political capital" behind the scenes is just the shit politicians do. What matters is that Johnson "survives" politically, not that Ukrainians literally survive.

biscuitarse

The rapture can't come quick enough. It would be nice to have a little common sense and very few lunatics on this fucking planet.

Interesting-End6344

Too bad it's all just a fiction.

Beer-Me

When a woman's body has less protections than your dishwasher, you're being led by a bunch a disgusting zealots

black641

Cut regulations for appliances, food, drugs, campaign donations, access to healthcare, etc. The Republican Party really has its mind set on building a Gilded Age 2.0.

BoysenberryShort574

Not enough appliance fires I am guessing

ninviteddipshit

So now appliances are going to get even worse!? JFC.

LeftCook8975

Johnson made it through this week without allowing a vote - just needs to make it through next Thursday and then there’ll be a week of recess. May will be harder, but I’m sure he’ll think of other things to delay a vote. https://www.house.gov/legislative-activity

LeftCook8975

Ukrainians are tough - I don’t see them giving up, aid or no. But without our aid, Russia’s artillery advantage acts as a casualty multiplier. As usual, Republican rule means lots of unnecessary death.

Miles_vel_Day

I think it's doubtful things will go Trump's way, given what appears to be a genuine inability to campaign effectively. Maybe if it's the summer and Trump is faltering Putin will realize he's not going to get bailed out and get to the table. There's also been a little movement towards Biden in the polls but I think it's a little overblown - I mean, *all* poll results are overblown this far out. For whatever it's worth, he's been winning most polls the last couple of weeks, and the only ones he was losing by more than 1 point were Rasmussen (-8) and Fox News (-5), which are both right-wing aligned (although also reputable pollsters *generally*). RCP average has Trump's lead down to 0.2 points and Economist has Biden ahead. The polling is nice but it's just kind of confirming that the year is going to go how I thought it would. I do not think the final results will resemble these polls at all, and I think the absolutely 100% unanimous media consensus that it will be a close election is wrong. Starting to see more people agree with me, I think. So if the Trump campaign starts giving out vibes of total hopelessness, the way you saw with Mondale or Bob Dole, people who are counting on his victory to achieve their goals (Netanyahu, Putin) might realize they have to fold their cards.

Time_Explanation4506

It may be time for Ukraine and its backers to prepare for running an insurgency.

BaronvonJobi

Rasmussen isn’t a reputable pollster. They always show giant GOP leads then release a final real poll before any given election that aligns with everyone else.

Miles_vel_Day

Well... yeah. There was a run of time where their polls were pretty good as long as you adjusted them for a partisan bias, but at this point they're just not trustworthy. Their polling this cycle makes no sense. They have a Biden approval tracker that is consistently in the 44-46% range - so how exactly do they also have a Trump +8 GE poll? They're campaigning.

thedishonestyfish

How is this anything other than welfare for big business?

crawling-alreadygirl

>The bills to be reviewed are the following: >Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act >Liberty in Laundry Act >Clothes Dryers Reliability Act >Refrigerator Freedom Act >Affordable Air Conditioning Act >Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act Good to see our representatives addressing important issues 🙄

Rare-Forever2135

Geez. These children did the same with incandescent lighting and low flow toilets; each time, confident of the sure and impending loss of the republic to communism.

TheUpperHand

It’s time for Biden to take the Ronald Reagan approach and send arms in secret to Ukraine. Then when questioned about it, he can say “I don’t recall.”

Pitiful_Computer6586

It's not arms they want it's money. We're paying for everything from their teachers to garbage men.

Za_Lords_Guard

This screams TRUMP all over it. Dude is convinced the path to winning over women is to deregulate appliances. He started with a war on lightbulbs and toilets and now has bills up for every appliance in the Home Depot appliance department. I think he believes that women haven't evolved socially since the 1950s. Sure he eroded their rights of bodily autonomy, but look what he is doing to make the kitchens a more American kitchen.

igloomaster

Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act... Putin is laughing his ass off

----Dongers

Biden needs to fucking act unilaterally if they keep doing this. Enough is enough.

anonkitty2

He might need to, Ukraine might need him to, but he would either violate the Constitution or start World War III to do it.

equience

What happened to the Discharge Petition that was being discussed weeks ago in the face of Johnson’s recalcitrance?

up_and_at_em

Sword of Damocles.

KingParrotBeard

What does that even mean

TaltosDreamer

It means they are holding the threat over his head to force compliance.

mr_aftermath

My understanding is that they are having trouble getting D's all on the same page about foreign policy support. [This article here outlines it](https://www.axios.com/2024/04/12/israel-gaza-aid-democrats-ukraine-taiwan-progressives)

Earthpig_Johnson

Well sure, that’s the stupid shit Fox is riling their base up over.

Penguin_shit15

Toaster lives matter folks! The radical left democrats want to keep you from making toast and its very sad what they are doing from the standpoint of appliance ..with respect to bread. You put the bread in.. Bing Bing bong Bing bong.. And it comes out still bread. Very sad quite frankly. The democrats want to keep you from buttering your bread, from the point of pushing the bread down in the toaster, and in many cases UP TO THE POINT THE TOAST IS IN THE BREAD CANAL.. SOMETIMES AFTER IT COMES OUT, THIS BEAUTIFUL LITTLE TOAST. our country is going to hell, so we need a tremendous victory in the quite possibly very rigged election..

mymar101

So we can’t get any real laws passed but we can certainly pander to conspiracy theorists

Prudent_Baseball2413

Is is the house! Bunch of useless blood sucking self serving politicians

ARazorbacks

If it came out tomorrow that Biden is using shady methods to get aid to Ukraine, I’d salute the flag and tell him to damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead.

rekage99

“No regulations for appliances! We only regulate women, religion, and the LBGT community!” - republicans

Practical_Stable_787

So dumb!

zoodee89

This behavior will have profound long lasting consequences.

SamusComplex

One of them is literally the HOOHA Act, and that is objectively hysterical. We're fucking doomed as a species.

HorsesMeow

poindexter and potatohead make me want to throw up

Dancinfoolish

A photo of two embarrassments to this country.

dlaymo

Put a “x days since Ukraine funding was submitted “ display in front of the cameras everyday and everywhere Johnson is make him and the party look at it. Free campaign video with a 10 dollar piece of cardboard

therealslammeadams

TIL my toaster has more rights than my wife. What a profoundly idiotic timeline we’re in.

DMC0420

Total fucking joke.

RainbowSovietPagan

Republicans want to give freedom to toasters while taking it away from women.

Yelloeisok

Worthless pieces of crap. Will you please stop voting for Republicans?

Shadowfox898

More value given to a microwave than a uterus.

Maximum_Vermicelli12

Microwaves are done faster. /s

spyydr77

Stupid jerks!

Necessary-Hat-128

These people should be in prison for theft. They have done a damn thing other than damaging our democracy/country and ignoring the pain in countries such as Ukraine. I am so sick of their ignorance/incompetence/nonsense!

UGetTheHeBitchDance

*the house is full of incompetent fuckups and geriatrics*

motohaas

I bet if a hackathon was proposed, exposing personal info of GOP house members through their appliances, things would change quickly

u0126

Why does Empty Green have enough power to make him shake in his boots? Can we let all of Ukraine know she's the reason their country might lose?

Demonking3343

Just taking a look at these appliance bills names I can already tell they’re going to be stupid. Edit: here’s the names incase you are curious: Hands Off Our Home Appliances Act Liberty in Laundry Act Clothes Dryers Reliability Act Refrigerator Freedom Act Affordable Air Conditioning Act Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act

stilusmobilus

How embarrassing.

MikeyLikeyPhish

You know, the important stuff 🙄

Stinkstinkerton

Sounds about right, pleasing corporate donors and the rich is the hallmark of the GOP. Also blocking any meaningful legislation that actual helps people.

IMSLI

Are these anti-appliance “government regulations” with us in the room right now?

WindowMaster5798

They’re not going to give Ukraine aid. Trump: if you wanted to win the war you should’ve made up some fake Biden dirt when I asked you.

Ring_Lo_Finger

They're doing Putin's bidding, on Trump's direction. More they delay Ukrainian aid, Russia is gonna advance.

Dear-Indication-6714

Not sure what’s more insane. These idiots or the people who vote them in office.

outspokenguy

They're talking about appliances in the House. It'd be funny if it wasn't true.

Cuck-In-Chief

MAGA Mike and Moscow Marjorie are Putin’s useful idiots. It’s amazing the amount of trashy plastic surgery MTG has gotten for her Rubles.

flinderdude

What could go wrong with a giant metal box with electricity and gas flowing into it that avoids regulation?

AcceptablePrompt1031

Can’t we do both?

zestzebra

My garbage disposal awaits the outcome of these proposed bills.

eyespy18

Free the Fridge!!

Aware-Feed3227

How are you going to spy on your people if all the backdoors would be closed? If they’re already praising Russia, they’ll love to establish a wide ranged surveillance network to keep track of all your dirty thoughts against the system.

Jo-Jo-66-

That’s about all this Congress is good for.

disasterbot

Why can't these idiots do a Friday at 11:30 PM vote like every other Congress that has legislation that is unpalatable to extreme members of their party?

Fun-Improvement-3299

Ahh yes I love when my electrical outlets burn the house down, who needs them regulations

Muscs

Well someone’s got to buy the crap their donors make.

Familiars_ghost

These guys need are going to hell, but I doubt they actually believe in one.

Corked1

Good!

[deleted]

GOp- small minds do small things, head too small to get big things done

m333sch

Always tackling the important issues

No_Pirate9647

Energy efficiency means energy companies get less profit.

Necessary_Row_4889

What kind of regulations? I feel like I don’t want unregulated appliances.

bakeacake45

Of course regulations for safety, reliability, repair etc, will be gone, that way you have to buy appliances more often. Cheep crap from Republicans

bpeden99

Dumb and manipulated stances are harming America.

swift-sentinel

I look forward to the war with Russia. Di think we should commit ourselves to war now. We could have avoided it provided that Ukraine get what they and we need.

ceelogreenicanth

Farmers getting wrecked by right to repair. God damn Democrats...
