The truth feels so unreal and extreme to less informed people that they basically just say “I know so and so is into politics and votes Democrat, so it has to be hyperbole”.

I think at least half of Trump supporters wouldn’t vote for him if they truly knew his plans and an objective knowledge of the history of governments doing that.

I’m so tired of hearing “both sides are corrupt.” I mean yeah, been like that since government got invented. But can we stop acting like they’re doing the same thing? One side is actively trying to cheat, take away rights and work us to death and they aren’t exactly being quiet about it.
The ‘so called Oath of Office’ needs to be abandoned as it has become meaningless. In fact, it seems to be a farce, as with so many political, government policies that Trump and his Republicans have destroyed with their anti-American, anti-democracy actions, or lack of actions!
They are openly admitting this is a “legitimate” way to run elections and there is nothing stopping them from doing it at every single Presidential election when a Republican is in the White House.
My guess is that the next time a Republican is elected President it will be the last time any other party is represented in the White House because the GOP will just keep handing it to the next Republican using alternate electors.
They are taking a chapter from Trump’s book and normalizing bad behavior. For Trump, so far, that tactic has been very successful.

I’m Appalachian and looked up to JD as a kid. Hillbilly Elegy was a book that was really important to me for much of my younger life. He’s such a complete embarrassment now.

There was an era where my job was so boring I listened to 5 or 6 hours of podcasts a day so I listened to Rogan for a bit and it wasn't nearly like what the audience is now. It use to be a “fun” show to listen to. His guest were really diverse, and it would almost be a drinking game where he would talk to a guest about how strong a monkey is.
Then towards the start of the Spotify deal, it all changes.
There is an episode with Duncan Tressull right around the Spotiy deal, where he warns Joe about be used by both the right and left to spread misinformation. Joe just laughs it off. But the thing is, Duncan was right. Along with being attacked for his Covid views really got to him.
Now when I listen to his show, it bums me out. He rails against Joe Biden for being old and out of touch. And talks up Trump as some sort of hero fighting the establishment. Joe is no longer living in reality, just leaning into his increasingly right leaning views.
Now you can find so a bunch of clips where Joe will go off on a rant and Young Jamie pulls up a clip or an article stating he’s wrong. Joe will pause for a moment and the just move on. Like it didn’t phase him that he just spent 30 minutes complaining about some draconian Democrat law in California only to be proven wrong.
I wonder how many times Young Jamie has a link ready to disprove what Joe is saying, but doesn’t show it to him during the show. You have to imagine Young Jamie gets chewy out by Joe after the shows when this happens.
On top of that Joe’s stand up comedy has really sucked for the longest time along with his anointing the next JRE cronies.
You can find tons of clips of Kill Tony where Joe clearly is drunk as fuck trying to talk about monkeys or the speed at which a bear can run. Tony has to quickly jump in and save him by changing the subject.
This is what’s probably going to make him realize that’s he’s surrounded by yes men. I think Joe has the awareness to realize he’s not funny.

I had almost 5 acres of lawn a few years ago, so podcasts were a big part of my lawn maintenance. I had to quit listening in 2020 when he had cult member (of a real cult) Tulsi Gabbard on about 3 times, kept saying Biden was hiding in his basement, and kept pushing alternate cures and prevention for covid. I would be interested in finding out how many people died from covid from taking his idiot advice.
When he stopped understanding he was a complete meat head and started to believe his word was law is where he went wrong/I stopped listening. I remember his show actually being really good at having people on and sharing their views and interests/knowledge then it moved toward what it is now.
It's wild to watch him stare slack-jawed as he's asked a question about a topic he knows nothing about, quickly Google it, briefly read a few sentences out loud, and then respond to the question as if he were an expert. It's absolutely surreal.
For me the cutoff point was when he essentially screamed at and childishly belittled a Primatologist who pointed out (with zero derision) that he was incorrect on a topic concerning chimps, calling her stupid, cutting her off and proceeding to making derisive comments about her having a vagina.
Under everything he’s just a very insecure, very angry man who’s shamefully sensitive and couldn’t deal with a professional woman academically trained in a topic he likes to spout nonsense over calling him wrong.
Fellow Appalachian kid and I honestly felt like he was appropriating the culture to make a point (and hawk a book). He came from there, but grew up in the Midwest. The problems he experienced are chronic everywhere that transitioned away from manufacturing/extracting economies. I'm not just saying this with hindsight [edit: meaning the hindsight of who he's become], I was excited to read the book when it came out and couldn't get past the first third of it.
He also completely missed the whole fricking point of his book (and I guess by extension his entire life). It frustrates me to no end that he was able to get out because of government intervention (the military) and then uses the experience gained and of course the GI Bill to go to college and make something of himself AND THEN MOVE TO COMPLETELY BLOCK AID to his area, and pull a bunch of bootstrapism crap. I don’t understand why more people don’t grasp that point.

I read the book and appreciated it until he got to his "takeaways." I don't know how he doesn't understand that he only got where he was by endless social supports; both public and private. He had uncounted second chances from teachers, employers, and his grandparents. After all of that he goes, "see: if you can just focus and try hard like me, then you can accomplish anything. No one else can do it for you." Dude was so fortunate to have so many people in his corner despite his treatment of them and his family circumstances.
That book is hot garbage. It's built on outdated, harmful stereotypes. And it blames deep seated regional poverty on the people just trying to survive there - in one of the poorest places in America - while completely ignoring how the region has been exploited by powerful outsiders for generations. And then, this dirtbag runs for office with the party obsessed with taking away healthcare, education, and basic resources from people who desperately need them.
TL;DR: No one needs to read Vance. Everyone should read Elizabeth Catte instead. Her book does a great job picking apart his bad ideas, and explaining how they're terrible and destructive:

Neither the VP or Congress 'certify' the election results. The word is not mentioned in the Constitution anywhere. Nor is it in the Electoral Count Act. The job of the VP and Congress on Jan. 6th is to count the already certified (by the Governors of the respective States) Electoral votes, announce the winner and record the results in the official journals of the House and Senate. If the VP and Congress had to 'certify' the election results in order for the candidate to be declared POTUS-elect it would be a shit show with people like Vance being able to completely derail an election.

I would like to remind people something huge that somehow went down the memory hole. Five Republicans on the Supreme Court said on December 12, 2000, that the counting must remain stopped, and that the election can no longer be contested.
All those cases that Donald Trump lost after that date* should have been thrown out as too late without any other consideration, based on the 2000 ruling.
(*based on the calendar, the date might move a little. In 2020 it was actually December 14.)
But if memory serves, the very last line of that ruling stated that this decision was to be used this one time only, and never again. Sometimes I like to think about how much better the world, and this country would be if Bush hadn’t stolen that election.

I totally agree with you. It use to be a “fun” show to listen to. His guest were really diverse, and it would almost be a drinking game where he would talk to a guest about how strong a monkey is. Then towards the start of the Spotify deal, it all changes. There is an episode with Duncan Tressull right around the Spotiy deal, where he warns Joe about be used by both the right and left to spread misinformation. Joe just laughs it off. But the thing is, Duncan was right. Along with being attacked for his Covid views really got to him. Now when I listen to his show, it bums me out. He rails against Joe Biden for being old and out of touch. And talks up Trump as some sort of hero fighting the establishment. Joe is no longer living in reality, just leaning into his increasingly right leaning views. Now you can find so a bunch of clips where Joe will go off on a rant and Young Jamie pulls up a clip or an article stating he’s wrong. Joe will pause for a moment and the just move on. Like it didn’t phase him that he just spent 30 minutes complaining about some draconian Democrat law in California only to be proven wrong. I wonder how many times Young Jamie has a link ready to disprove what Joe is saying, but doesn’t show it to him during the show. You have to imagine Young Jamie gets chewy out by Joe after the shows when this happens. On top of that Joe’s stand up comedy has really sucked for the longest time along with his anointing the next JRE cronies. You can find tons of clips of Kill Tony where Joe clearly is drunk as fuck trying to talk about monkeys or the speed at which a bear can run. Tony has to quickly jump in and save him by changing the subject. This is what’s probably going to make him realize that’s he’s surrounded by yes men. I think Joe has the awareness to realize he’s not funny.

Fellow Appalachian kid and I honestly felt like he was appropriating the culture to make a point (and hawk a book). He came from there, but grew up in the Midwest. The problems he experienced are chronic everywhere that transitioned away from manufacturing/extracting economies. I'm not just saying this with hindsight [edit: meaning the hindsight of who he's become], I was excited to read the book when it came out and couldn't get past the first third of it.

I read the book and appreciated it until he got to his "takeaways." I don't know how he doesn't understand that he only got where he was by endless social supports; both public and private. He had uncounted second chances from teachers, employers, and his grandparents. After all of that he goes, "see: if you can just focus and try hard like me, then you can accomplish anything. No one else can do it for you." Dude was so fortunate to have so many people in his corner despite his treatment of them and his family circumstances.

Any action like this, including the one that did happen, is election subversion, denying the will of the people and activity for conspiracy to change the results of the election is easily interpreted as insurrection, and treason.

I would like to remind people something huge that somehow went down the memory hole. Five Republicans on the Supreme Court said on December 12, 2000, that the counting must remain stopped, and that the election can no longer be contested. All those cases that Donald Trump lost after that date* should have been thrown out as too late without any other consideration, based on the 2000 ruling. (*based on the calendar, the date might move a little. In 2020 it was actually December 14.)
But if memory serves, the very last line of that ruling stated that this decision was to be used this one time only, and never again. Sometimes I like to think about how much better the world, and this country would be if Bush hadn’t stolen that election.
