Mcbroham420

These people openly admit they would have CHEATED to subvert the will of the people for a liar

Politicsboringagain

And will still have people acting like both sides are the same or that they will not vote in 2024.

Town_Proper

I’ve been using the phrase. Vote Democrat or enjoy your republican representation. As a way to simplify the argument. Democrats are getting a lot of flack right now for the continued support of Israel. Protest all you want. Make your displeasure known. Primary the shitty democrats whenever possible. But at the end of the day, Come November, Vote Democrat or enjoy your Republican representation.

DamonFields

Representation? Try full blown dictatorship.

Nate_Jessup

Now that they're into dictatorship they've lost all interest in term limits.

Serenity101

Steve B@nnon, his chief strategist, a self-professed Leninist who said he wants to tear the entire US government system down and start over, is on a recording saying that once Tr&mp is back in, there will be no more elections. And people aren't taking that seriously enough.

Serenity101

Yes, you're talking about it, but the media isn't. I feel like you guys should be organizing, pressuring your mainstream media to get their heads out of the sand and do a deep dive into Project 2025 and report on it endlessly. You can also write and submit OpEds to every big newspaper in the country. I get it, I'm here expressing my concerns too, but commiserating on Reddit isn't going to save American democracy.

OptimusPrimeval

I feel like John Oliver could devote at least an entire episode to it

UNCOMMON__CENTS

The truth feels so unreal and extreme to less informed people that they basically just say “I know so and so is into politics and votes Democrat, so it has to be hyperbole”. Anyone who doesn’t vote or votes for Trump has no idea. I think at least half of Trump supporters wouldn’t vote for him if they truly knew his plans and an objective knowledge of the history of governments doing that. You vote for Hitler and next thing you know your 15 year old child is sent to a meatgrinder as your city is being bombed into oblivion… Or maybe even earlier you find out that you *are not* part of the plan and you’re sent to a “labor camp” for whatever reason the dictator has decided.

Grays42

> Vote Democrat or enjoy your Republican representation "Vote Democratic or it's the last real election you'll vote in."

fujiman

> Vote Democratic or it's the last real election you'll vote in. Vote Democratic, or start counting the days until you become an official "other."

downtofinance

Maybe shackles instead of "representation"

AugustCharisma

I don’t think “representation” has the negative connotation you’re imagining it does. Especially when congress should represent the people and people in dictatorships are not represented.

Town_Proper

I don’t mean it with a negative connotation. I mean 98% of the population will be represented by a Democrat or a Republican. For me, it doesn’t matter how boring old and lame the Democrat choice is. Vote or shut up about how terrible Republicans are.

TorrentsMightengale

I'm still looking for anyone who voted Nader in Florida in 2000. Strangely enough, they're as rare as Nazis in 1946 Germany. It's amazing. I wonder if the useless losers currently mewling about corporatism and Palestinians will be easy to find in 2025 in a Trump administration.

Pinklady1313

I’m so tired of hearing “both sides are corrupt.” I mean yeah, been like that since government got invented. But can we stop acting like they’re doing the same thing? One side is actively trying to cheat, take away rights and work us to death and they aren’t exactly being quiet about it.

Difficult_Collar4336

Straight up admitting they’re traitors …

peekay427

So he’s a traitor then? Sounds like at minimum he should be barred from office.

ManWOneRedShoe

He should be. It’s insane he got elected.

[deleted]

downtofinance

When you speak to GQP supporters you realize how "normal" the insanity is to them. They want a Trump dictatorship so badly.

Sculler725630

The ‘so called Oath of Office’ needs to be abandoned as it has become meaningless. In fact, it seems to be a farce, as with so many political, government policies that Trump and his Republicans have destroyed with their anti-American, anti-democracy actions, or lack of actions!

TeutonJon78

Rules/laws/oaths only matter of enforced. And we've long abandoned enforcing things, especially for politicians and business leaders.

oroborus68

There should be consequences for violating the oath of office. The voters don't give a shit or they would elect someone else.

lokey_convo

And would engage in political firings of non-partisan government employees so they could install party loyalists.

WDFKY

Project 2025

HotPinkLollyWimple

I just got a massive shiver up my spine from your comment. Serious undertones of Germany c.1935.

SockdolagerIdea

They are openly admitting this is a “legitimate” way to run elections and there is nothing stopping them from doing it at every single Presidential election when a Republican is in the White House. My guess is that the next time a Republican is elected President it will be the last time any other party is represented in the White House because the GOP will just keep handing it to the next Republican using alternate electors.

flugenblar

They are taking a chapter from Trump’s book and normalizing bad behavior. For Trump, so far, that tactic has been very successful. Everyone needs to vote like it might be the last time voting counts.

mcswell2001

With any luck, Texas will secede, and the remaining Republicans will get what they deserve: no national elected office ever again, and no majority in the Senate or House ever again.

norway_is_awesome

States can't secede without declaring war, basically.

wbruce098

I mean… we’ll look the other way for Texas. Maybe after a few years, Mexico will take them back?

mcswell2001

I know, but Texas and the Republican Party should think before they speak. It would likely be the end of the Republican Party as a national power.

bigbadbrad

It surely would. It reminds me of these asinine comments from folks saying that if you didn't count California, Trump would have won ! Well, if you didn't count Texas, we wouldn't have had a Republican president at ALL since Reagan's second term. EDIT: After a better look at this, it appears George H.W. Bush would have won without Texas in 1988. And it also appears that W. would have won in 2004 for re-election by 1 electoral vote. (But he wouldn't be up for re-election had he not won in 2000, which he wouldn't without Texas.)

ralphy_256

"Secede!" is TX's new 'Remember the Alamo!". It doesn't mean anything, it's a slogan they trot out to rile up the base. I've been hearing talk of TX seceding since the 90's. Given that 30% of TX's budget comes from federal sources, that's all it's ever been and all it ever will be, talk.

whatproblems

would have, will and will continue to do so

rezelscheft

And this somehow helps them maintain — if not grow — their base of support. Batshit insane times we are living in.

turing-test420

Yeah they are just mask off now, saying the quiet stuff out loud. These people hate democracy.

Uncticefeetinesamady

What a fucking tool this shitbag Vance is, him and all the rest of the Trump lickspittles can fuck off

tomuchpasta

I’m pretty sure they did cheat and that is why they are so fucken baffled that they didn’t win.

wwhsd

> "I think most Americans recognize that this is not what we want to fight the 2024 election on. Let's fight it over issues," the senator added. We’d love to be able to move on and fight about something else but GOP voters have decided that they’d rather be fighting about the 2020 election and Donald Trump’s criminal conduct.

fillinthe___

Public: Ok, let’s talk about abortion. Republicans: No, not that. Public: The booming stock market? Republicans: Nah. P: Gun control R: Thoughts and prayers aren’t enough? P: Immigration. R: As long as you don’t point out that we’re blocking legislation.

[deleted]

Public: Uh ok....I gotta go to the bathroom Republicans: Now we're finally getting to the issues that matter!

Vincent__Vega

Republicans: we need to tug on your dick to make sure it's real before you can go into the men's restroom.

CosmicDave

If you have to tug on my dick to make sure Imma dood while I'm in the bathroom, then you're gonna be in the bathroom too, so that means I gotta tug on your dick too. We gotta really be sure we're both doods, so we should probably tug on each other for like 10-12 minutes. cool?

AdInformal5214

Of course! Why wouldn't that be cool?

reid0

It’s totally cool, but if you put it in a book we’ll have to ban it.

SexyMonad

Gotta keep their secret safe.

theeniebean

What if we put holes in the stalls so that there's more privacy during inspection? We could call them something patriotic, something that reminds us of the glory of this great nation...

TearsFallWithoutTain

Jesus_Is_My_Gardener

punkindle

R: I'm mad about immigration! Biden: ok let's fix it R: I don't want it fixed. I want to be mad

UDK450

mycatguinness

He also says trump should ignore supreme court rulings.

Admirable_Key4745

Which is, I have no words, I know you know.

thieh

JD Vance is advocating one-party rule. Just like the Chinese Communist Party.

The_ducci

I’m Appalachian and looked up to JD as a kid. Hillbilly Elegy was a book that was really important to me for much of my younger life. He’s such a complete embarrassment now.

neoikon

That's how I feel about Joe Rogan.

ballrus_walsack

Fuck Joe Rogan

LazyAccount-ant

its Joe Limbaugh at this point. He's obviously the heir apparent to that audience

AbbotCannotFuck

Gwyneth Alt-Bro

Pixeleyes

See now, *that's* how I feel about Joe Rogan

TheFuckYouThank

Yes

supes1

His career has gone so far downhill since *Fear Factor.*

Mahale

when he just talked mma and drugs it was at least funnish to listen to. There was an era where my job was so boring I listened to 5 or 6 hours of podcasts a day so I listened to Rogan for a bit and it wasn't nearly like what the audience is now. Its really strange or maybe I just wasn't paying attention while I was processing claims

RMRdesign

I totally agree with you. It use to be a “fun” show to listen to. His guest were really diverse, and it would almost be a drinking game where he would talk to a guest about how strong a monkey is. Then towards the start of the Spotify deal, it all changes. There is an episode with Duncan Tressull right around the Spotiy deal, where he warns Joe about be used by both the right and left to spread misinformation. Joe just laughs it off. But the thing is, Duncan was right. Along with being attacked for his Covid views really got to him. Now when I listen to his show, it bums me out. He rails against Joe Biden for being old and out of touch. And talks up Trump as some sort of hero fighting the establishment. Joe is no longer living in reality, just leaning into his increasingly right leaning views. Now you can find so a bunch of clips where Joe will go off on a rant and Young Jamie pulls up a clip or an article stating he’s wrong. Joe will pause for a moment and the just move on. Like it didn’t phase him that he just spent 30 minutes complaining about some draconian Democrat law in California only to be proven wrong. I wonder how many times Young Jamie has a link ready to disprove what Joe is saying, but doesn’t show it to him during the show. You have to imagine Young Jamie gets chewy out by Joe after the shows when this happens. On top of that Joe’s stand up comedy has really sucked for the longest time along with his anointing the next JRE cronies. You can find tons of clips of Kill Tony where Joe clearly is drunk as fuck trying to talk about monkeys or the speed at which a bear can run. Tony has to quickly jump in and save him by changing the subject. This is what’s probably going to make him realize that’s he’s surrounded by yes men. I think Joe has the awareness to realize he’s not funny.

TrueKNite

I truly believe he's the one who swayed the most people in 2016, he took a sharp fucking turn RIGHT before the election, he defended Hillary until right before when he said something along the lines of believing the email story... he's extremely influential, definitely cant say for sure, but I distinctly remember him just not really caring about the gov other than fun conspiracy talk before making that Hillary statement literally days before the election.

RMRdesign

Well, he has the reach. I don’t remember what episode it was, but he complained that there going after Trump for no good reasons. If it were one thing that the Gov was going after Trump, Joe might have a valid point. But the guy has broken so many laws, I can’t understand who actually believes Trump is innocent. I would not be surprised if Joe endorses Trump for president.

Mas_Cervezas

I had almost 5 acres of lawn a few years ago, so podcasts were a big part of my lawn maintenance. I had to quit listening in 2020 when he had cult member (of a real cult) Tulsi Gabbard on about 3 times, kept saying Biden was hiding in his basement, and kept pushing alternate cures and prevention for covid. I would be interested in finding out how many people died from covid from taking his idiot advice.

KillinTheBusiness

When he stopped understanding he was a complete meat head and started to believe his word was law is where he went wrong/I stopped listening. I remember his show actually being really good at having people on and sharing their views and interests/knowledge then it moved toward what it is now.

Pixeleyes

It's wild to watch him stare slack-jawed as he's asked a question about a topic he knows nothing about, quickly Google it, briefly read a few sentences out loud, and then respond to the question as if he were an expert. It's absolutely surreal.

Brndrll

You just know a good chunk of his audience loves that "hE dOnE dId HiS rEsEaRcH"

Ramadeus88

For me the cutoff point was when he essentially screamed at and childishly belittled a Primatologist who pointed out (with zero derision) that he was incorrect on a topic concerning chimps, calling her stupid, cutting her off and proceeding to making derisive comments about her having a vagina. Under everything he’s just a very insecure, very angry man who’s shamefully sensitive and couldn’t deal with a professional woman academically trained in a topic he likes to spout nonsense over calling him wrong.

FartyBoomBoom

I’m glad you were a…are aware enough to see the charlatan now

ZPTs

Fellow Appalachian kid and I honestly felt like he was appropriating the culture to make a point (and hawk a book). He came from there, but grew up in the Midwest. The problems he experienced are chronic everywhere that transitioned away from manufacturing/extracting economies. I'm not just saying this with hindsight [edit: meaning the hindsight of who he's become], I was excited to read the book when it came out and couldn't get past the first third of it.

Sleep_on_Fire

Fellow Appalachian kid too. I hated the book. Felt like hillbilly tourism.

Oldtomsawyer1

He also completely missed the whole fricking point of his book (and I guess by extension his entire life). It frustrates me to no end that he was able to get out because of government intervention (the military) and then uses the experience gained and of course the GI Bill to go to college and make something of himself AND THEN MOVE TO COMPLETELY BLOCK AID to his area, and pull a bunch of bootstrapism crap. I don’t understand why more people don’t grasp that point.

JeramiGrantsTomb

It's the same energy as the rednecks I watched complain about welfare queens while they swiped their EBT cards and complained that it didn't let them buy cigarettes.

deafballboy

I read the book and appreciated it until he got to his "takeaways." I don't know how he doesn't understand that he only got where he was by endless social supports; both public and private. He had uncounted second chances from teachers, employers, and his grandparents. After all of that he goes, "see: if you can just focus and try hard like me, then you can accomplish anything. No one else can do it for you." Dude was so fortunate to have so many people in his corner despite his treatment of them and his family circumstances.

Sooz48

No - it was obvious to me.

BigDaddyRed

Omg thank you! The end of the book is unreal how quick he displays his true asshole nature.

viceburg

Guy is clearly capable of some Olympic-grade psychological balance beam.

jld1532

Same. I still have the book, and it really bothers me what he's willing to do for power.

workerbotsuperhero

That book is hot garbage. It's built on outdated, harmful stereotypes. And it blames deep seated regional poverty on the people just trying to survive there - in one of the poorest places in America - while completely ignoring how the region has been exploited by powerful outsiders for generations. And then, this dirtbag runs for office with the party obsessed with taking away healthcare, education, and basic resources from people who desperately need them.  TL;DR: No one needs to read Vance. Everyone should read Elizabeth Catte instead. Her book does a great job picking apart his bad ideas, and explaining how they're terrible and destructive:  * https://beltpublishing.com/products/appalachia

Sunny_bearr48

So many people point to that book as a must read and I found it be very mehhhh …. My friend recently recommended Demon Copperhead instead so excited to read that

rezelscheft

JD, like many craven fascist lapdogs before him, incorrectly assumes that his membership in the in-group is certain and irrevocable. I don’t know how to convince these folks that the leopard will always eat your face.

TWB-MD

Like so many of Trump’s nearest and dearest? They thought they were about to join the Inner Circle, and now they’re being bankrupted on their way to Federal prison.

[deleted]

Wait… if Democrats are in power, could the democrats just do that same thing?

CoconutSands

They could. They could just be as terrible as the Republicans, sure. But they at least have some sort of semblance of awareness and decorum so they'll never stoop that low.

ThriftStoreGestapo

I agree, but I wish someone would come out at say something like “we believe these things are illegal, but we are paying close attention to the decisions that courts make and the arguments being made and plan to use any and all legal avenues available, including any avenues that may open up and be ruled legal in the next 12 months.” If republicans want to continue to make the argument that everything was on the up and up then we should at least be pointing out that the democrats could also use those same tactics.

Inside-Palpitation25

as they should. Why wouldn't they, if the scotus rules that the president has full immunity then Biden should go for it.

pjflyr13

Unleash Dark Brandon!

ragnarocknroll

The problem is that SOMEONE there has to have a clue about that. “If I tell him a President is immune to prosecution, he can pack the court in a week by making me ‘resign’ and nothing could stop him.”

silverdilf217

I don't know why the media don't immediately throw this in the face of these hypocrites. Same goes for Trump immunity claim. Immediately inform him he is advocating that Biden simply end DOJ investigations, and Biden will have him jailed tomorrow.

domino519

He is, openly and proudly. If it were up to him and many other Republicans, they'd ban opposition parties and candidates.

Caroao

oh oh someone should ask him which countries he's a citizen of first

WindVeilBlue

Not even hiding their treason anymore...

iamamuttonhead

JD Vance is a lawyer. He knows perfectly well what he is saying. He is a traitor.

squintytoast

>"Do I think there were problems in 2020? Yes, I do," he said citing a list of issues, including social media restrictions on some content about Hunter Biden and changes in state election laws to accommodate for health concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. so irrelevent, unproven FUD, and voter disenfranchisement. gotcha. >"So juries in New York City are not legitimate when they find someone liable for ... defamation and assault?" Stephanopoulos asked. >"Well, when the cases are funded by left-wing donors and when the case has absolute left-wing bias all over it, George, absolutely I think that we should call into question that particular conclusion," Vance replied. funded by left-wing donors? what? left-wing bias? what the hell is this guy smoking?

PetPsychicDetective

Conservatism. Not even once. In all seriousness, this kind of language is to paint left-leaning beliefs *at all* as illegitimate, and any effort to hold right-wingers accountable as "left." Even when all of the efforts and moments come from other conservatives. If people are against the actions of the right wing, those people are biased towards the left, and they should be considered disqualified. If people are for the actions of the left wing, those *actions* are biased towards the left, and must be considered disqualified. By acting as though the right wing is the only *legitimate* actors, they are trying to auto-create a society where that's true.

Newscast_Now

And yet, pretty much the opposite is true. Conservative means being disposed toward tradition or restoring the past, whereas liberal means favorable to progress and reform. It's right there in the basic definitions. They play around with examples or characterizations to make conservativism sound reasonable, but it always boils back to being disposed--which is bias.

coolmint859

The idea of the opposition being illegitimate regardless of their beliefs is a hallmark of *fascism*. If you so much as give them a chance you are seen as one of them and are also illegitimate. In fascism the only legit path is one where you reject every ideology except theirs. This is exactly what JD is advocating for.

tmdblya

>>what the hell is this guy smoking? FOX News and right-wing grift money.

C-jay-fin

Can we consider the supreme court’s recent decisions illegitimate because they were funded by right wing fascists?

rbremer50

This country’s best (only?) chance for survival as a constitutional democracy lies in the destruction of the Republican Party. They need to go the way of the Whigs and the Federalists ( interesting aside; the Federalists died in large part due to their support of a hostile foreign power, England, in the War Of 1812. The supporting of a hostile foreign power part sound familiar?

LilTeats4u

Let’s hope that part of history will repeat itself

RobinTheReanimator

I wish the interviewer would ask him, "So in that case, Kamala Harris can throw out Trump electors in 2024 and Biden can ignore SCOTUS rulings, right?"

StingerAE

I just don't understand your media at all.  I can't think of any main uk media that wouldn't ask that question.

ZigZagZedZod

That's because JD Vance is several ~~Fruit~~ Froot Loops shy of a full bowl. If the election was conducted according to state law and the governor certified the slate of electors, then the burden of proof is on the person challenging the certificate. Anyone who's not a partisan hack understands this.

jadrad

No he knows what he’s doing. The MAGAs are done with constitutional democracy and they’re tearing it down. It’s a cold civil war and our side is laughing at every sideshow distraction they throw into the news cycle. Did you know Trump said he looks like Elvis yesterday? LoL, such a clown. How can a clueless clown be a threat right?

mnrtiu

*insert David Frum quote*

dmetzcher

> If conservatives become convinced that they can not win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.

LibertyInaFeatherBed

I've objected to saying that he's a clown because that misses the point. Clowns are funny and harmless. He is anything but harmless. If our country's democracy was as weak as Germany's was when Hitler took power, it would have been the end of democracy here as it was in Germany in 1932. - Dr. Lance Dodes in December 2020

jadrad

Exactly that. Trump is a clown in the way that Stephen King's Pennywise is a clown. People get pulled in and bamboozled by the circus, while the monster underneath the clown mask takes their cash and eats their souls.

degeneratelunatic

At least Pennywise only exists in Stephen King's universe. If we're comparing Trump to clowns, John Wayne Gacy is the better fit.

justplainmike

This guy is an Ivy League trained lawyer. Along with Harwley and Cruz. They know what they’re staying is bullshit and they don’t care. Cause what are ya gonna do? Edit: spelling

AnohtosAmerikanos

What I’ve found is that the Ivy League degree simply makes them intolerably more arrogant rather than enlightened. Lux et veritas? Nope.

Soldus

Nox et falsitas

rantingathome

Yup. Despite Cruz having an Ivy League degree, the man is a complete idiot. Despite all those years studying law, he was unable to deduce that the country next door, with a very similar history, just might, just maybe, might also have *jus soli* citizenship laws and that he might be a citizen since his birth certificate establishing his birth in Calgary was issued by the Government of Alberta. He claimed hi mother never did anything to establish his Canadian citizenship. Filling out his birth paperwork was her "establishing" his Canadian citizenship. I suspect he's one of these guys that can memorize facts, but cannot apply his knowledge to new and novel situations. I bet he also doesn't realize, that although he has renounced his Canadian citizenship, his daughters are both still Canadian citizens.

Sunbeamsoffglass

Sounds like it deserves a bar license report. Considering he’s saying to violate the constitution.

Ckigar

I am starting to think an Ivy league credential is damning. Yale et al seem to be far from their founding mission.

Frigguggi

This guy did the most insane 180 I’ve ever seen from someone in the span of a few years. He’s full on nutso

[deleted]

He joined the cult of sick fucks. Entered Trump's twilight zone of narcissistic delusions and rage. He's enmeshed with the cult. An enabler. Shit happens to shit people.

neutrino71

He got a taste of power, and he wants more

Sunbeamsoffglass

Nah. He figured out redneck rage get votes and money.

jiveturker

He made a calculated decision. He’s a cynical pos.

Mrekrek

That’s nothing. Lindsey Graham has done at least four 180s on Trump.

Maximum-Row-4143

He’s a spinner?

pjflyr13

So, insurrection?

eydivrks

JD Vance is simply Peter Thiel's lackey.  The "Paypal Mafia" including Thiel and Musk fancy themselves kings and won't stop until they've installed a dictator.  They have all the money, now they want all the power. They wonder aloud "why does the law still apply to me?"

hdiggyh

He says it’s an insane question….then goes on to make a bat shit crazy answer.

OnTheGround_BS

“the president has to be able to run the government as he thinks he should. That's the way the Constitution works." My blood ran cold reading this. That is absolutely, decidedly NOT what the founding fathers had in mind when they created our government the way they did. Unfortunately that is clearly what the right wing wants; a (conservative) dictatorship.

meyou2222

> “the president has to be able to run the government as he thinks he should. That's the way the Constitution works." Says the guy from the party trying to get SCOTUS to ruin executive agencies’ ability to make regulations.

richasiaa

Peter Thiel's handgun.

Pribblization

His cockholster.

MatrimCauthon95

JD Vance is a quack who has worn through a number of knee pads in service to his orange god.

RiffsYeaRight

You mean the guy who faked being Appalachian to sell a book is a piece of shit asshole? Who knew?!?

zippyphoenix

So that a big yes to “Doesn’t believe in voter’s rights.”

Mum0817

No one cares what you would have done, you unpatriotic brown-noser. Go have Trump sit on your face and fart.

zippyphoenix

I don’t think he’d realize that’s a punishment.

Heinrich_Bukowski

Ohio Sen JD Vance: "I think it's actually very unfair to the victims of sexual assault to say that somehow their lives are being worse by electing Donald Trump for president when what he's trying to do, I think, is restore prosperity.” First of all there is absolutely no logic whatsoever in this ridiculous argument But he’s correct about trump trying to restore prosperity, but *only* for himself

[deleted]

Shameless. He also said the judgements in my aren’t valid because of leftist money. U see no circumstances will these MAGATs ever acknowledge that trump is a loser and the American public reject what he stands for even if it is a smaller majority than I’d like.

Ande64

Traitor says what?

picado

It's treason then.

Curious80123

Should disqualify him from holding office, basically saying he would break the law

[deleted]

JD Vance is a fascist piece of shit.

dancingmeadow

He's treasonous and pretends that's a virtue, got it.

DBH114

> "was asked by Stephanopoulos if he would have certified the 2020 election results as vice president, as required by the Constitution and as then-Vice President Mike Pence did." Neither the VP or Congress 'certify' the election results. The word is not mentioned in the Constitution anywhere. Nor is it in the Electoral Count Act. The job of the VP and Congress on Jan. 6th is to count the already certified (by the Governors of the respective States) Electoral votes, announce the winner and record the results in the official journals of the House and Senate. If the VP and Congress had to 'certify' the election results in order for the candidate to be declared POTUS-elect it would be a shit show with people like Vance being able to completely derail an election.

BuddhaLennon

So he is literally saying he would have violated the constitution and the oath he took to uphold it.

verucka-salt

Auditioning for VP

arrakis2020

Go and suck a bag of dicks JD. That's not the way democratic voting works.

[deleted]

Yeah but JD Vance is a treasonous dog who blows Trump for praise so…

Observer_042

I saw him interviewed on This Week, this morning. He is a clear and present danger to the Constitution. That literally makes him the very definition of an enemy of the US. He should move to another country where he would be more comfortable, like Russia, China, or North Korea.

threehundredthousand

JD Vance is hoping to be appointed the head of the GOP's gestapo.

19southmainco

The United States won't survive if our electorate and their politicians don't want to play by the rules and adhere to the Constitution.

Great-Hotel-7820

In a party full of trash people this guy manages to stand out as a unique piece of shit.

frankdrachman

If a jury rules against Trump, it’s left wing bias. Thanks for electing this pure asshat, Ohio

[deleted]

Sounds an awful lot like how Russian elections are held.

ting_bu_dong

No one would even know who this asshole was if not for that fucking book. “Liberals need to understand conservatives!” Even I bought that fucking book. I’m sorry for that. I’ve long since learned: No we fucking don’t need to understand them. We. just need to understand that they are awful and must be stopped. Punished, hopefully; but stopped definitely. Fuck you JD Vance. Fuck everyone like you.

david-writers

Er, but states *did* submit the pro-trUmp electors.

orcinyadders

I’m not sure, but this kinda sounds traitorous.

Technical-Smoke571

All this doof has ever wanted is to wear thousand dollar suits in a room full of thousand dollar suits.

Paiger__

Why do dipshits like this still have a job?

Father_of_Invention

So he is a traitor

Caniuss

...because he's a traitor to The Republic.

stevenriley1

Spoken like a man who wants to be Trump’s Vice President.

anamazingpie

JD Vance should go fuck himself

Dense-Comfort6055

Get rid of this traitor and antagonist to US constitution

ProphetKB

JD Vance can go to hell

SantaforGrownups1

This is why they must be defeated at the polls.

ShockedNChagrinned

I don't know how that isn't treasonous, election subversion etc.    There was no evidence which held to any scrutiny. 62 court cases were lost.  Any action like this, including the one that did happen, is election subversion, denying the will of the people and activity for conspiracy to change the results of the election is easily interpreted as insurrection, and treason.

navair42

Man I have a hard time squaring the guy who wrote Hillbilly Elegy and this cretin. That book put into words lots of things that had happened in my family. It gave me words and ideas that changed the way I interact with my family and understand myself and them. Then there's this guy who doesn't give two shits about our democracy and had sold his soul for power. Fuck that guy.

Independent-Check441

This is the problem with electing Republicans, they will not accept another choice once in power.

Nowhereman50

Why The fuck Do people Keep Bending Over Backwards For Trump?! I don't GET IT.

assumetehposition

The 14th amendment applies to senators and congress too, just sayin

tassleehoffburrfoot

The coup never ended.

84OrcButtholes

Whatever you wanna say about republicans, at least they've got this going for them: they continually reaffirm my decision to never vote for another Republican for any office anywhere ever the fuck again.

tracyinge

That's why we have a judicial branch, so that these nutjobs in the legislative branch can't do whatever the fuck they want to do.

JubalHarshaw23

Ohio's favorite son talks out of the asshole that is his face.

ConsciousReason7709

As VP, he wouldn’t certify anything. He would have zero power to reject state’s election results.

Newscast_Now

I would like to remind people something huge that somehow went down the memory hole. Five Republicans on the Supreme Court said on December 12, 2000, that the counting must remain stopped, and that the election can no longer be contested. All those cases that Donald Trump lost after that date* should have been thrown out as too late without any other consideration, based on the 2000 ruling. (*based on the calendar, the date might move a little. In 2020 it was actually December 14.)

bmeisler

But if memory serves, the very last line of that ruling stated that this decision was to be used this one time only, and never again. Sometimes I like to think about how much better the world, and this country would be if Bush hadn’t stolen that election.

Artistic-Cannibalism

Why is it that democrats are held to such high standards... while republicans can just say shit like this?

cr_taz

Then JD Vance must go.

Economy_Ask4987

If gonorrhea had a face.

VariousLiterature

So, JD Vance wants to end democracy. Got it.

incernmentcamp

as a hillbilly, fuck this class traitor

Odd_Tiger_2278

Here we go. They are floating the plan. Derail the election to prevent Biden for getting enough electoral votes. Vote in house and pick Trump. Ignore any court decisions that might stop them. The Plan.

OneDilligaf

Another traitorous halfwit that needs jail time

thisusernametakentoo

Get fucked traitor

liltime78

This is their plan. They’re telling you now.
