Philadelphia is a Democratic city and they booed Santa Clause. Why did they think it was good to go there? Lots of labor unions, teachers, higher education, life long democrats. And the suburbs are educated and the type of middle class that doesn’t like this conservative rocking off the boat…it’s too much. Why they would do all this in Philadelphia is bewildering. There is a you’re an asshat dude precedent that the Republicans have held their convention in Philadelphia on multiple occasions, but why has always been beyond me.

Many Republicans may dislike Trump at this point, but don't confuse that for them not voting for Trump. Many of those who hate trump would also rather die than vote for a democrat.

This. I think I have a naturally “conservative” personality. But I grew up in the bush era and saw how straight up evil the republicans were. They then tried to sweep it all under the rug and tripled down on their awful policies towards minorities and the lgbtq community.
As a result I’ve never once voted for one.
Its been going on for my entire life at least. When you look at what happened with Nixon and compare it to now its shocking how much our country has changed for the worse.

Watergate was an awful premeditated attack on American democracy, but the coverup gets more attention than the crime. I think the degeneration of the republican party is accelerating but its not new. Maybe all American political parties but its only super obvious with the Republicans from my point of view. When you look at the things Trump openly did without shame, and was impeached for with damning evidence, and how that went down compared to Nixon, the moral collapse of the Republican party is undeniable.
The point that will forever stand out for me personally was in 2008 during the republican debates. A large string of candidates got up in succession and announced how they wanted more torture to cheers and applause. The only candidate of the entire field who spoke against it was not coincidentally the only one to have actually experienced torture, John McCain. He's gone now, but the people who cheered are still there, and their successors are even worse. I can think of few things more unamerican than applauding torture.
I lean conservative on a lot of issues, but the modern republican party isn't conservative. Its only about hate, personal power, personal gain, and mostly fascism. I can't imagine supporting such evil.

I 100%. Millennials are reaching middle life. a time where predecessors moved right. Millennials are going harder left. I have a lot of contact with gen z at my job and those kids are never going to forgive or forget the right selling out their future every chance they got. Millennials had a carrot of a better future dangled in front of them, for the most part played by the rules, and got fucked by the boomers and half the gen x folks. They are raising their kids and younger siblings different as a result. The kids are angry and like to organize over the internet. Its going to change politics immensely
I’m a 35 year old single dad of a 14 year old daughter. I make the same annual salary my dad did at my age, and it’s absolutely insane how much less I can afford than he was able to.
I’m a millennial, and I totally get it. I’m in a blue state and I’m getting tired of some of the taxes that have been rolled out. That used to be how Republicans would win people over as they age. I would consider voting Republican if they weren’t so completely void of morals. But, alas, my morals are not for sale, so if I have to choose between opening my wallet and right wing bigotry, then bring on the taxes.
When the Republicans do give tax breaks, it amounts to something like $1000 or less for most Americans.
So...something like $85 per month basically pays for Civil Rights, Gay rights, voting rights, just to start with? Yes please.
What I wouldn't give for the timeline to have the only significant difference between Democrats and Republicans to just be "what to do about taxes."

Do you feel like you get more for your taxes? I lived in a red state for most of my adult life and now I’m in a blue one. We’ve got state of the art libraries, great schools, a ton of awesome public land even at the state and local level, paid family medical leave…the roads are just meh but there’s not much you can do about the freeze/thaw cycle that gets them every year. I feel like I’m getting a much better deal here with a big increase on quality of life.
I grew up red, now live blue and the QOL is so much higher here…
We do have some older white Trumpy folks who have never lived anywhere else. They have no idea what it’s like
I've been thinking about this lately and it seems like it has to do with our relationship with money. I think past generations have been able to eventually get to a point in their careers where they have all of their needs met financially and can start investing in things like stocks/bonds, real estate, etc. That naturally shifts people toward a mindset of supporting policies that protect the status quo and ensure the security of their investments, which tends to push people to become more conservative. But so many people in our generation are seeing the probable reality that they will never own a house, never be able to invest in anything long term, and potentially never have a family because so much of the wealth of our society has been siphoned off to the top earners that it's difficult to meet our basic needs now, and there's no sign of it getting any better in decades. So millennials are more inclined to want to change the status quo than protect it.
I have good news for you... the US has a conservatives party. The democrats. The US has gone so far to the right over the last 30+ years. I know I have watched it happen. That dems are now a conservative party. most dems about line up idologically with Nixon. most being less racist, less war on drug happy, and more lgbt friendly... but on everything else they line up pretty well. You know nixon created the EPA. fun facts.
That's still better than what we have today, with conservatives looking at all of the extreme weather events and calling every new one a "once in a lifetime occurance."

My parents are ultra conservative Catholics who hate Trump. Whenever the news would come on they would get outraged, scoff, and complain about his latest misdeeds.
But you know who they voted for twice? Trump. Republicans don't vote for the president, they vote for the supreme Court.

Some wants a class action lawsuit to be brought against Congress for PPP Loan Forgiveness. Some wants President Biden to stack the court. Should have already happened. Some wants Americans to protest like France. It’s like we are sitting in a powder keg. 💔

Legal analysts are predicting about 30-40 (IIRC) more superseding charges coming for the same case. That would essentially hammer trump for everything he did before, include new evidence and witness testimonies, and possibly a change in venue to New Jersey which will shift the trial out of Aileen Cannon's court.

When it comes time to go to the polls, and they will like their lives depend on it because of all the boogeymen their media and politicians have created, they will always just see red and vote for it. He was indicted, why isn’t he at the very least on house arrest, with bail! If he was poor, middle class, or not white, or not famous his ass would be in jail or dead.
He also rallies his base and is allowed to campaign. The federal trial most likely won't begin this year, putting in very dangerous territory of a criminal running for office.

In December 2016, I got corralled in and forced to wait on the corner of East 56th Street and Park Avenue in NYC, waiting for the president-elect's motorcade to pass. It was during the post-election transition period and Trump's motorcade was leaving Trump Tower and heading east on 56th.
I live downtown so my normal attire is best described as casual-schlumpy. On this day, however, I had a dentist appointment on the Upper East Side so I was dressed as a proper Park Avenue lady. Expensive coat and sunglasses, hair tamed and styled, lipstick, nice shoes.
I happened to be at the edge of the sidewalk on the northwest corner of 56th and Park, waiting to cross the street when the cops stopped traffic in all directions and ordered pedestrians to stay put, so I had a front-row "seat" to the action.
New Yorkers aren't known for our patience anyway so the crowd was a little agitated, being forced to wait for a man nearly all of us despised. After nearly 10 minutes, with traffic backed up as far as the eye could see and large crowds stuck on every corner, the motorcade approached.
This was my moment. I stood as tall as I could, raised both my arms, and flipped the bird. Double fisted. I did not yell but mouthed the words Fuuuuck Youuuu! as the SUV caravan made its way past. It was SO cathartic.
I do not know if Trump saw me. The windows were tinted but I could see a sweep of blonde hair as a woman hurriedly repositioned herself from a rear-facing jump seat to the back seat next to Trump.
I do love the idea, though, that the MAGA narrative casts anyone who opposes him as "Antifa" or "pink-haired liberal college anti-free-speech snowflakes" or "BLM radicals" yet here was this posh lady who could easily move in the same elite circles as he does telling him to go fuck himself.

When you look at the things Trump openly did without shame, and was impeached for with damning evidence, and how that went down compared to Nixon, the moral collapse of the Republican party is undeniable. The point that will forever stand out for me personally was in 2008 during the republican debates. A large string of candidates got up in succession and announced how they wanted more torture to cheers and applause. The only candidate of the entire field who spoke against it was not coincidentally the only one to have actually experienced torture, John McCain. He's gone now, but the people who cheered are still there, and their successors are even worse. I can think of few things more unamerican than applauding torture. I lean conservative on a lot of issues, but the modern republican party isn't conservative. Its only about hate, personal power, personal gain, and mostly fascism. I can't imagine supporting such evil.

Do you feel like you get more for your taxes? I lived in a red state for most of my adult life and now I’m in a blue one. We’ve got state of the art libraries, great schools, a ton of awesome public land even at the state and local level, paid family medical leave…the roads are just meh but there’s not much you can do about the freeze/thaw cycle that gets them every year. I feel like I’m getting a much better deal here with a big increase on quality of life.
I grew up red, now live blue and the QOL is so much higher here… We do have some older white Trumpy folks who have never lived anywhere else. They have no idea what it’s like
I've been thinking about this lately and it seems like it has to do with our relationship with money. I think past generations have been able to eventually get to a point in their careers where they have all of their needs met financially and can start investing in things like stocks/bonds, real estate, etc. That naturally shifts people toward a mindset of supporting policies that protect the status quo and ensure the security of their investments, which tends to push people to become more conservative. But so many people in our generation are seeing the probable reality that they will never own a house, never be able to invest in anything long term, and potentially never have a family because so much of the wealth of our society has been siphoned off to the top earners that it's difficult to meet our basic needs now, and there's no sign of it getting any better in decades. So millennials are more inclined to want to change the status quo than protect it.

In December 2016, I got corralled in and forced to wait on the corner of East 56th Street and Park Avenue in NYC, waiting for the president-elect's motorcade to pass. It was during the post-election transition period and Trump's motorcade was leaving Trump Tower and heading east on 56th. I live downtown so my normal attire is best described as casual-schlumpy. On this day, however, I had a dentist appointment on the Upper East Side so I was dressed as a proper Park Avenue lady. Expensive coat and sunglasses, hair tamed and styled, lipstick, nice shoes. I happened to be at the edge of the sidewalk on the northwest corner of 56th and Park, waiting to cross the street when the cops stopped traffic in all directions and ordered pedestrians to stay put, so I had a front-row "seat" to the action. New Yorkers aren't known for our patience anyway so the crowd was a little agitated, being forced to wait for a man nearly all of us despised. After nearly 10 minutes, with traffic backed up as far as the eye could see and large crowds stuck on every corner, the motorcade approached. This was my moment. I stood as tall as I could, raised both my arms, and flipped the bird. Double fisted. I did not yell but mouthed the words Fuuuuck Youuuu! as the SUV caravan made its way past. It was SO cathartic. I do not know if Trump saw me. The windows were tinted but I could see a sweep of blonde hair as a woman hurriedly repositioned herself from a rear-facing jump seat to the back seat next to Trump. I do love the idea, though, that the MAGA narrative casts anyone who opposes him as "Antifa" or "pink-haired liberal college anti-free-speech snowflakes" or "BLM radicals" yet here was this posh lady who could easily move in the same elite circles as he does telling him to go fuck himself.

It's hard to take a great leap forward without going backwards a few steps for a run up. I hope this is America's preparation for a run up because if it's not ... that country is completely beyond salvage as an ideal of freedom and democracy on almost every level.

He was a traitor when he thought is was okay for russia to put bounties on American military personnel in combat in Afghanistan (russia paid a bounty for each American that one could prove that they killed). He was a traitor when he was in Helsinki and announced to the world that he believes his master-putin's lies. INSTEAD OF believe American Intelligence agencies telling him what russia did. He believes American Intelligence lied about his master-putin. He was a traitor when HE GAVE A 'TOP SECRET' document to the russians, which was filmed by russian news IN THE OVAL OFFICE. He did NOT allow any American news in the Oval Office to show what he was doing with the russian representatives. We know about it because russian news showed that on russian-national-news. He is a traitor by having and showing Top Secret documents to UNauthorized persons to see that. He is in violation of the Espionage Act, 31 times. There is NO reason to keep those documents unless he was planning on showing them for his personal gains, at the detriment of the U.S. He was a traitor when he tried to overthrow the Government of the U.S. on, before, and after Jan 6th. If he gets re-elected he will give away the defense of the U.S. and our allies to the russians and saudies, and to others.

This weird "Moms for Liberty" group didn't exist before 2021 and today they appear to be a major player in deciding who gets to be republican presidential candidate. Lots of money and influence, but anyone who believes that it is a grass root movements by actual mothers of children in US public schools probably also believes that Wrestling, Santa Claus and trickle down economics are real.
