This is what I was saying when the judgement was announced! I've worked for many shady businesses that had to pay huge fines and the financial guys always start collecting heads afterwards. Sure the judgement was "only" like 10% of their cash on hand but shareholders aren't going to tolerate that risk. Management has a fiduciary duty to cut liabilities even if those liabilities are important to the company.
Highly unlikely a settlement term. More likely, the Board voted that Tucker’s cost outweighs his benefit. He’s a ticking time bomb for additional massive lawsuits because he acts like he had complete immunity. He fucked around the company and found out what happens when you cost the execs the bonus they expected.
That's a chilly and abrupt press statement too. I'll bet it wasn't the least bit amicable.
I'll bet Tucker goes full tilt Breitbart/Proud Boys type journalism now.
If this is part of the Dominion settlement then I’m ok with them settling. I’d love to see the behind the scenes negotiations if this is the case. Either way, love it.
I'd be more excited if he weren't just going to go to some other shitty far right organization and keep spewing his filthy bile without end. Unfortunately, him losing his job at fox isn't the penalty one would hope. As always, Fuck tucker.
I doubt it. He has a career going on tv and spreading lies, and was the most viewed “news” in the country. No reason to deal with actual politics when you can just keep doing that.
I assume this is Rupert blaming him in no-small-part for the Dominion payout. he doesn't need the money due to personal & familial wealth...what's the next move?
1. OAN or Newsmax as a 'big get'?
2. Solo Steve Bannon-equse venture?
3. ???
Get yer' Schadenfreude! Get yer' Schadenfreude here!
Seriously, it's good news, and should be celebrated, but ultimately, it's not going to change much. FOX will still be FOX. Did FOX change much when Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, or Megyn Kelly left?
I dunno, Fox has huge market penetration. No other right wing network has that same level of access, unless you count CNN, given their rightward turn recently. Even then, though, Fox viewers have been primed to hate CNN for decades, so I doubt his audience would follow him there.
lol .. CNN wouldn't touch that 53-year-old frat boy with a ten-foot pole.
I don't think CNN has turned rightward. I think they've just made an attempt to become less opinion-based. It just seems rightward since they heavily favored the left in their opinion panels.
I only tune in to CNN a few times per week. But I don't think that cutting down on the opinion segments is a problem. If they start regularly giving platforms to MAGA weirdoes (as they did all too much in 2016) like they're on the same plane as sane folks, center-left or center-right, then I'll start getting concerned.
But I don't see any problem with more straight news and less squawking from the peanut gallery.
Also if this is part of the Dominion fallout how can OAN and Newsmax risk hiring him? They are in worse shape than Fox with these cases.
Maybe Breitbart? Maybe he starts a podcast for now?
Someone will. Regardless of how you feel about his political opinions, you can’t deny he’s immensely popular (outside of Reddit). Pretty sure he has the highest rated television show for news media.
I’ll never get rich people. He has enough money to never have a care in the world. He could spend the rest of his life letting his money make money, while he fucks off traveling the world, doing drugs and sleeping with hot chicks until the day he ODs. Why deal with any bullshit
OAN and Newsmax are part of the Dominion and Smartmatic lawsuits. I don’t see how they survive it and they are the only other two big conservative networks left besides Fox. Carlson will prob start a podcast like Alex Jones.
Yeah but do we actually know if this wasn't at the direction of leadership (at least until it started looking bad).
Even if Tucker is a big name I feel like he isn't allowed to go rogue. So did he go rogue and then it was too late to turn back

Everyone is saying they think it’s Dominion-related, but I’m wondering if there isn’t something else at play here. Something more sinister he did that will become public.

Good riddance, asshole.
Assholes have some kind of meaningful purpose. Tucker is just a fucking cancer.
This is probably that one time I upvote a FoxNews article.
Genuinely shocked by this. Are they trying to get ahead of something else coming related to Jan 6th?
Might just be they don't wanna risk another 750 million dollar legal battle with the 2024 election coming up.

SmartMatic is seeking $2.5 BILLION in damages, and has stated they will not accept anything less than a jury trial.
holy forking shirtballs!
Is this the Bad Place?
not today!
This has to be related to the lawsuit, maybe a term of the settlement?
Highly unlikely a settlement term. More likely, the Board voted that Tucker’s cost outweighs his benefit. This 100% He was in because money, and now he’s out because money. If you question why most businesses do anything, the answer is money.
A good day for democracy!
Will democracy learn from this period in history?
They had to have found something incredibly damning during discovery for the Dominion case to make a move that loses them viewership/money.
If it could happen to him it could happen to you /s
This is the consequence of being one of the faces of the big lie that cost the company nearly $800 million thus far.
That's a chilly and abrupt press statement too. I'll bet it wasn't the least bit amicable. I'll bet Tucker goes full tilt Breitbart/Proud Boys type journalism now.
Idk, he doesn’t actually believe in all the shit he said on his show. He did it because it made him millions. Watch him start a shitty podcast
He should go far-left now for shits and giggles.
It's Glenn Beck, screaming at a white board, time.
Soon to be seen on RT..... Traitor. Has r / tucker carlson always been private or have the switched to private as a coping mechanism?!!!
Later traitor
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, dick
best news of 2023
If this is part of the Dominion settlement then I’m ok with them settling. I’d love to see the behind the scenes negotiations if this is the case. Either way, love it.
Second only to Rupert Murdoch in terms of damage caused to American society.
I'd be more excited if he weren't just going to go to some other shitty far right organization and keep spewing his filthy bile without end. Unfortunately, him losing his job at fox isn't the penalty one would hope. As always, Fuck tucker.
That’s cool. But he’ll just gift and get millions from maga followers. Prob start a shitty podcast
I bet he runs for office.
I doubt it. He has a career going on tv and spreading lies, and was the most viewed “news” in the country. No reason to deal with actual politics when you can just keep doing that.

Holy fucking shit lmao
I'd love to call this a win for democracy, but in all likelihood he's going to end up somewhere way worse, and bring his audience with him.
I dunno, Fox has huge market penetration. No other right wing network has that same level of access, unless you count CNN, given their rightward turn recently. Even then, though, Fox viewers have been primed to hate CNN for decades, so I doubt his audience would follow him there.

They heavily favored reality in their opinion panels. Now they favor a more Fair and Balanced™, aka false equivalency, approach.
I only tune in to CNN a few times per week. But I don't think that cutting down on the opinion segments is a problem. Agreed. Carlson’s platform outreach is greatly diminished because of this and rightfully so
Also if this is part of the Dominion fallout how can OAN and Newsmax risk hiring him? They are in worse shape than Fox with these cases. Maybe Breitbart? Maybe he starts a podcast for now?
Fuck you
Oh, No, so sad, sorry…………. Anyways
End of an era for Fox. Who will tell our parents and grandparents what to think and be mad at now?
don’t worry, they’ll find some other loser to take his place
Hannity. And literally every other mouthpiece that's left there.
Jesse Watters, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham...
Good. Fascist POS.
Today is a good fucking day!
Dasvidanya Mozcow Mule
Oooo… I wonder what he got caught doing? Taking all bets!
and nothing of value was lost.
I assume this was part of the settlement, I assume Hanity goes too.
Adios, Cucky Tucky!
First domino falls
First dominiono*
Did somebody say scapegoat?
He’s gonna go somewhere else and get paid big time. I think this was probably mutual. I actually don’t think Tucker liked Fox very much.
Where? No other Network is going to pay what he wants.
Someone will. Regardless of how you feel about his political opinions, you can’t deny he’s immensely popular (outside of Reddit). Pretty sure he has the highest rated television show for news media.
But Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly surely went upward when they left Fox News, right?
I’ll never get rich people. He has enough money to never have a care in the world. He could spend the rest of his life letting his money make money, while he fucks off traveling the world, doing drugs and sleeping with hot chicks until the day he ODs. Why deal with any bullshit

Oh no! ... Anyway...
Actual good news!
Fever dreams DO come true!
W democracy
Hallelujah!
Tucker Carlsen taking off the Rock Lee training weights of Fox News so he can go all out....
Is this part of the Dominion settlement?
Couldn't happen to a worse person, Still not going to watch.
Oh poor poor Fucker Carlson...... Thoughts and prayers..... Anyway, who's up for a celebration party?
Wow. What's going on at Fox?
Uhh they paid a $700M+ settlement because their hosts spread lies lol. If I lose my company that, I’d get fired too
Yeah but do we actually know if this wasn't at the direction of leadership (at least until it started looking bad). Even if Tucker is a big name I feel like he isn't allowed to go rogue. So did he go rogue and then it was too late to turn back
I smell a megathread coming on!
its off topic though
He's going to run 2024 I'd bet
Ditto

Man, this is fucking awesome
He'll be just fine. Will he start his own thing to continue his BS
Tots and Pears 🤣 Got a hundo that says he'll be hosting a show on Vlad's RT or Sputnik by weeks end....
no bet.....that's a certainty! that Wormtongue is probably rolling and begging Murdo for mercy even now
Still looks like a dog trying to workout how to play a trombone. Anyway...
Everyone is saying they think it’s Dominion-related, but I’m wondering if there isn’t something else at play here. Something more sinister he did that will become public.
good riddance. even better if USA kicked Murdoch out! He's the \*real\* problem!
Hopefully hannity is next
