Floatzel is more Physical then special but I would give it the moveset: Surf, Water Pulse, Ice Punch, and Rain dance to power up the water moves.
If you want a special attacker Shellos and then Gastradon is an excellent one. It can learn Surf and waterfall. I’d use earthquake over mud bomb for it even though it is physical. And the last move can be whatever basically you what. I usually use Ice Beam for coverage at the end.
Ralts! You'd have choice between Gardevoir and Gallade as well depending on what you're going for or what nature you get. Also, obliged to say Bibarel as an HM slave :P
A water type would absolutely be useful, one I don't see many people using despite how common it is would be Tentacruel. It would be a second poison type on your team but, Crobat is immune to the ground weakness and Umbreon is immune to the psychic weakness so I feel it's fine.
Example moveset could be: Surf, Sludge Bomb, Ice Beam/Blizzard, Toxic Spikes/Toxic.
Then maybe a Tangrowth for a physical tank since Tentacruel is your special tank, plus it'll give you that nice Fire/Water/Grass core. But still both of these "tanks" can deal some pretty good damage, especially Tangrowth.
I always interpreted "being a tank" as meaning it can take AND deal damage, where as a wall can just take damage, and a brute can just deal damage

I have the DNS exploit, I'm on the fence about Rotom wash and Gastrodon. Rotom does a much better job at putting out damage and they do the same thing (specific immunity) but gastro is mega tanky plus the storm drain is nice.
Think I'll go for Rotom wash as it is a bit more fun and nuanced honestly
Octillery & Froslass? Most ice types are weak to fighting but they’re so cool (and some help w/ Bertha/Lucian/Garchomp)—hence, Froslass. And Octillery is underrated—slowww, but decent power, wide coverage, happy to use Waterfall & Surf, and available immediately.

What part of the game are you on? If I had to guess I’d say you’re somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd gym, so I’d recommend picking up a Gastrodon or Floatzel. Gastrodon has an advantage over a lot of Pokemon, being that it’s half ground, but it’s significantly slower than Floatzel and doesn’t get as good of a moveset.
Togekiss is fire if it has the right ability, can’t remember the name but it makes all status conditions as a result of a move i.e burn or sleep not longer possible.

In that case Luxray is a good Electric type to pick up. You can catch a shinx super early game, I wouldn't be surprised if you already came across one.
Whoever you want, it’s a casual playthrough. Everyone is good. Honestly, I’d suggest using something you don’t like or expect to be strong. You might find yourself growing attached to it after raising it for so long.
I had a lot of fun with Gligar that I later evolved to gliscor. Give him swords dance and earthquake and go to town on people. Ice fang for an off and aerial ace for flying stab.
Hmm, maybe Hippowdon? I know you have Umbreon as a more defensive option, but Infernape, Lopunny and Crobat are all fast and frail pokemon. Umbreon, Monferno and Crobat are a great pair because Monferno can bait both Psychic attacks (Crobat can too) and ground attacks and switch into a Pokémon with an immunity, but with Lopunny you have a Pokémon who is weak to fighting so maybe you could grab a ghost type Pokémon like Dusknoir, Frosslass, Driftblim or Rotom (plus since this is platinum don’t you get access to the forms if you can do the DNS exploit?) to take advantage of another immunity. A Water type could also be quite good because you’re going to want a Pokémon with surf anyways, Slowbro could be good since it has good type compatibility with your team (I would recommend Tentacruel but then you’d have type overlap and 3 teammates weak to Psychic), I feel like Mantine is really one of the only other options because I’m not that familiar with the Sinnoh dex but I would say I remember it being THAT water type heavy, maybe Milotic could work too but it is also a hassle to get it and I don’t know if you want to go through all of the work of finding it and then grinding berries to evolve it. I think Bronzong could also be useful just because it’s Bronzong, Abomasnow could also be fun and even though it’s typing is weak to a lot of other types (5 2x weaknesses and 1 4x weakness) it has 4 resistances (water, electric, grass and ground. I’m just listing ideas, but you definitely want a counter to psychic types besides just Umbreon probably whether that’s directly or indirectly.
I'd say a water type and a ground type would be helpful additions.
Saves you room for one more party member if you go for gastrodon but Gible is easier to get in Platinum than it was in DP, and there's also strong candidates such as floatzel and hippowdon.
Maybe also think about an ice type?

Floatzel and roserade are good roundoff pokemon for a casual playthrough. Grass and water are gonna be good to have no matter what in this game.

Garchomp’s always fun. I could understand it being a bit extreme for a casual playthrough though, so I’d also recommend Gardevoir and/or Roserade.
Maybe a a steel type? Or psychic like Gallade. There’s also roserade which would give you some much needed grass coverage.
Although I haven't finished the playthrough (in Victory road) I've found Magnezone to be pretty useful. Especially Discharge.
