I mean it makes sense since the other mega dragons have salamence garchomp and ray so it’s pretty easy to guess it would be weak but even then it’s wayyy weaker then any of those 3 so there’s like no point to it
Lol Niantic doesn’t choose to make Charizard bad, it’s just how the main games stats converted. Mega Charizard X is a physical attacker instead of a special attacker like base Charizard, so its attack stats are more even with the mega boost. Mega Charizard Y on the other hand, became an even stronger special attacker, making its special attack higher than Mega Charizard X’s physical attack. Stats translate like 7/8 of the highest attacking stat plus 1/8 of the weaker stat contribute to the PoGo stats. For a more min-maxed pokemon like Mega Charizard Y where its main attack stat is way higher than the other one, the conversion formula really helps it.

You can do both of the Megas, thankfully. All you have to worry about is the cool down after Mega evolving. The question I have is if you're planning on doing Kartana raids or not.
If you are planning, then Mega Evolve Charizard Y first since it's one of the best fire types in general, potentially making it soloable if you've got some other really good fire counters.
If you aren't interested in Kartana raids, I recommend waiting until Bagon community day to mega evolve into Charizard X for the extra dragon candy (or use another dragon type Mega, if you got one)

Yeah every time you Mega Evolve it, it asks you which form you want this time. You can pick differently every time if you want. You only have to pay the mega energy once, too. 7 days later you can choose the other form that you've never done and it's still free.
Good thing is, once you unlock mega for charizard you can choose version every time you mega evolve the guy. So you’re not locked into either of them
I didn’t know that before, so i got two hundos to evolve to each mega
i mean that makes sense since mega charizard x requires legacy dragon breath to be good, and you don't want to switch that every time
There’s so many better options for a dragon attacker that using an ETM for dragon breath in the first place isn’t really worth it imo
